Anyone have ideas how to make a Totaly Maximum healing set ??
This is my second choise i want to try and play.. from time to time.
NO dmg. Just maximum healing support.
Using my healing skills as often as possible, and possible give people a protection buff at same time.
BUT, healing comes first.
I have no idea how to make it.. any ideas ?

Iam interested in evidence that atune jumping gives me maximum possible dmg.
Considering: Gear & Traits.

And i see your arguments. Pros / Cons.
The one with getting 2% more dmg for every boon.
sounds nice. but requires me to lose dmg in first place.
As i whould have to change either my crit %.. or my dmg on elemental specc.
And to keep the boons constant. on staff. i whould need a full Bonn duration gear.
Wich whould drop my dmg alot more than i gain, even if i had 5 – 6 boons 100 % time.
Its a good read for someone who wants to be multi-tasking on the field and want to survive more though.
But by pure logic.
Full dmg (zerker) all over + full dmg traits. and staying in the top dmg element. Fire.
Still seem to yield absolute maximum dmg.
I did had a 4k+ crit on my NR2 air skill last night in wvw.
The player was downed, and i switched to see what dmg it whould make for fun.
(I did have a few buffs on me, and him a few vulnerability stacks).
4k+ crit surpriced me abit. But it locked me out from fire for 13 seconds :P
(my fireballs on same enemy did around 3k+).
And i also saw my highest Meteor shower dmg on same night. 5k+.
Why not go for something that’s not in the game yet, like a warhorn or something?
we have horn alrdy.
(using that on both my warrior and ranger).
if you want a crit build. gear glass cannon.
power + crit % + precision.
you die fast.. so you need to learn to avoid direct confrontations.
dont see what weapon you use. and i doubt this works on DD.
but staff + full dmg, no survival. works for me. tho i want more dmg for sacrificing myself to a 3 hit kill target :P

Yes, I have skin option, stat option but rune option is empty
You get the rune/stone.. you had in the high lvl item.

I have actually seen Great swords on mages. (when i re-check my memory).
(Iam an old school MMO player. including pen & paper).
As long as it is high dmg, ranged. go for it.

This gives you option to use a necro face elemental..
or mesmer on necro.. or just mix it all how you want.
I have both necro and mesmer face in bank.. Account bound.
(using fire stone on my elemental alrdy to fit my gear).
this works with guardian shoulder and helm also.
So you can have it on warrior if you want to create som fun confusion.

My traits are for pure dmg output. Fire/Air + 10 arcane.
Iam interested in MAXIMUM possible dps… Nothing else.
Iam realy interested to see your explanation to get more dmg in atunement jumping.

And also remember to prove your atunement jumping realy works against moving target… not a dummy.
These are the numbers i get: these are without food or buffs.
Note.. all are non crits. and with Staff.
And since practice dummys can not burn, iam losing alot of dmg still.
Fire:
*1 = 1100 autoattack. (i have seen 2.7 k crits in wvw sofar).
*2 =1000 dmg lavafont. (4 second cd).
*3 =130 dmg. (test dummy can not burn, losing 2.7k). (8 second cd).
*4 defensive skill..
*5 =16-1700 / meteor hit. (24 second cd).
Water:
*1 =300 dmg.
*2 =1600 dmg. (4 second cd).
*3, *4, *5 are support skills.
Air:
*1 =700 dmg.
*2 =1400 dmg. (8 second cd).
*3, *4, *5. are support skills.’
Earth:
*1 =500 dmg.
*2 =1300 dmg. (dummys cant bleed, losing 5.7 k). (6 second cd).
*3, *4, *5 are support skills.
The way i see it:
2 equal geared elementals. staff. same traits for max dps.
Both are moving around to avoid AoE.
Now, the same second one of them tries to use atunement jumping.
He loses the battle.
why ?
Because the other one remain in his dps element, and keeps nuking and doing his 1100 – 2.7 k dmg autoattacks. and also explosion burnings
(*3 can never miss unless out of range, while ground aoe is easily avoided).
While the other one just droped 50 % of his dmg, to get some.. utility ?
Unless you can regen more than 3 k / tick. you lose the battle.
So any of you, who are complaining that staying in 1 atunement for max dps is bad.
Please show me it is worth to jump around in all atunement for max dps against a moving target.
Why should i use atunement jumping.
(other than to cc and get away, wich i already do).
What skill combination do you use, and why does it increase my total dmg ?

BUT, lets look at why i kind of dislike GW2 in its current state.

Now iam gonna referense to another game. abit bad. but its the most clear picture i can think of to realy show difference.
WoW. is the Brown cube.
You have a choise to go to a deep specialization on all classes, and excell at that.
Also we have more freedom of or skills, because they are not locked into a certain weapon.
GW2 is the white cube.
your class have no real choises, because your skills are locked into special weapon types. and you have a very very limited way of specialize yourself.
Now, GW2 have still a way, to give players more options. and make it more fun and interesting…
Simply make us able to go deeper in specializations.. Stronger healers, tanks, dps.
Wich whould evolve the white cube, to look more fun and interesting.
But, sadly. for the moment, we are playing with the single white cube.
fun ? not realy. but its a new game, i want to give abit more time to see if they even have a plan in future to evolve their little white cube, to something more interesting.
elemental is very boring at low lvl.
its like a roller coaster.
What weapon are you using ?
(myself i went staff 1 – 80, boring, as you have to tank mobs in lava font,
but it worked for me..
but yes, i had a few trouble times also.
Lert. you dont have to channel a Full duration on Meteor shower.
As soon as you see the first meteor hit..
you can dodge away. it will still continue its full aoe duration.
I do this all time, meteor untill first drop, and interupt my channel by placing a lava font at same place.
It reduces the channel by 50 %.
About skill replacing. I only realy dislike one. the lava font.
It is the only skill i whould realy like to see a big change too.

Ability: Shoot a small burning Napalm projectile. (fast travel).
It has a High impact dmg. and create a lower dmg dot.
Now. Combine this with Air Lightning surge.
If the target is burning. it will create an AoE Explosion. (fire + more air = boom).
Spreading the napalm to other players near by also.
And as i said in my poster above.
Programers still have full controll over the spells.
And with the specialization. you can still not get OP.
trait what increase AoE dmg on “name-skill”. <— makes it possible for designers to keep it in balance.
“you have AoE trait. you do the higher AoE dmg”
“you have single target trait. you do higer impact dmg”.
The trait will be the buffer and controller of your skills.
(is that what it should be like ???
Yes, i just found a little flaw in it also.
“what if enemy is already burning”…
There might be away around this so you still need the first napalm burning, and not any other.

Important to remember.
If you take 30 point water + 30 point fire single dmg. (or AoE dmg).
you are still balanced.
You will not have any OP burst. (you sacrifice 30 points in healing element).
so, you have lesser dmg, but abit higher survival.
so it should still be balanced with the scale.
when you think of it, it can create alot of fun and strange combinations.
(what i say at bottom may seem like a very big total overhaul, and makes a totaly new class. but its realy just about adding 3 new traits. and minor fixes to skills to make them stronger in their field).

And perhaps that is the Biggest flaw GW2 made.
(wich i try find a work around).
If you have a class wich have a lot of Healing AoE support skills.
You should have the option to make that field stronger, if you specialize more in it.
(and thus make you weaker on ranged dmg overall).
It will not only create a more interesting battle field and pvp,
Where you can realy change things if you play a stronger healing/support specc.
It whould also make alot of people who like to play healers. Happy.
(and people who like stronger dmg happy).
If GW2 choose to stay as it is. (I hope it doesnt).
With no real choises of either dps or healing or nothing. just as it is now.
It will become a boring static game.
You can not have the moment of:
“I like to try be a stronger healer on the battle field, to push the tides”.
“I like to create stronger AoE dmg, (and less healing and single dmg”.
“I like to be stronger with my ranged single dmg support”.
“I like to be a hybrid, i will try a Combo”.
High point traits is crucial.
water + earth, and you have your extra strong healing, and buffing/cleansing support.
Fire + Air, and you have your stronger Single target. AND AoE.
BUT. and this is vital to not make it OP. so you can not have both single and AoE.
2 traits are needed. (3 total) at 30 point. and both need to only be in one element.
Either in fire or air, doesnt matter.
*1 Increases your Fire and Air single target dmg by XX%.
Easiest way for programer= "increase dmg on: “name” + “name” + “name”.. etc.
this way you can buff or nerf any skill on that trait easier also.
*2 Increases your AoE dmg spells by XX%.
(as above).
You can NOT have both at same time. that is vital to keep the balance.
And for the healing part you put a High 30 point trait in water or earth. doesnt matter.
*Increases your healing spells by XX%.
(as above traits, to give more control over Buff/nerf skills).
Arcane should be used as utility field only,
And stop forcing minimum 20 points for staff to get AoE.
This is another thing i dont understand in GW2.
Traits that give you:
More dmg in downed state.
More hp in downed state.
more.. .. in downed state.
I mean. I dont know about you,
But iam doing everything i can to NOT get downed.
Shouldnt traits make you stronger, so it is harder to get downed in the first place ??

I cant even come up with any kind of idea for it.
Its too me, a very big mess.
But what i can see in the mess… it seems to be some kind of weird half melee type.
You should run up in the front line…and CC, Deflect, and just support,
in some weird and crazy way… and juggling with 4 elements on that.
If you play scepter + focus. i realy feel sorry for you.
I mean.. kitten what a messy weird weapon.
And you want it as a ranged nuker type ? how ?

Warrior was a fun break.
Got jumped by 4. But thankfully, i can switch my weapons.
So i went Axe/Axe.
I got 2 of them down.. before i got to submission. (4 is abit overwhelming).
But luckily, my zerg came and killed the remaining 2.
I did how ever manage to shoot down a few people also.
Best is in a Zerg. Killshot + volley. people are to busy so they dont see

My idea for the option i want.. works like a scale.
You know, weights in different ends of a stick.
Take away from one end. the other rise.
very simple. right ? still with me Lert ?
Its the same i ask for on the staff.
I want the option to choose myself.
And myself. I whould gladly SACRIFICE.. (look it up if you dont know the word).
I sacrifice my AoE/support. to get better ranged nuker capacity.
(remember the scale Lert ? one side up, one down).
You can also do the OPPOSITE of this. (look it up if you dont know the word).
you can sacrifice some range nuker capacity.. to be STRONGER AoE/support.
(still remember the scale Lert ? up/down).
AND, this is the beauty… watch this Lert.
If you choose to specc into both.
You will have the staff just as it is today. Mediocre, jack of all trade.
(scale = middle balance, no up, no down. medium).
I dont understand what you find so incredibly Evil about this Lert.

Sounds like to me you need to learn how to actually play the class before offering some of the worst balance offset tweaks to staff someone can think of. Better yet, just go play a rifle warrior.
Already have a rifle warrior.. he is great fun even tho i only have constant 76 % crit with my fury on.
Which is why the elemental class is the biggest disapointment in this game.
You have less dmg.. less burst.. half my warriors hp.. and lowest armor class.
You whould think this whould give higher ranged dmg to compensate.
But, weirdly enough… it doesnt… … …
I dont think i can ever understand why A-net released this class as it is.
The flawes on this class are so obvious.
And launching it, with skills locked into weapons. Some bad. some good.
Is just horrible, and will make it harder for them to fix and improve later on.
Fun paper concept. I can understand that.

but you seem to be as as mindless as WoW designer was in vanila.
Paladin = Heal/buff bot.. anything else was forbidden, it didnt fit their “design”.
Untill some players went the hard way, gearing dmg. and doing it decently.
Those designers saw their own flaw, and changed it to the paladin you have today in wow. a Versatile class. with your own choise open.
Healer ? Tank ? Dps ?
The same story for the druid class. Shadow priest. Shaman and more.
Myself, I played shadow priest in vanila mainly, it was a hardcore struggle also,
BUT, me, and many with me.. kept playing shadow and only having our healing as support in emergencys… Abit later., Shadow priests are consider a realy legitimate Dps choise. But, they still have the CHOISE to specc into more healing or shield support if the player wanted.
WoW designers saw people wanted choises. and gave them that.
Result = Best MMO created.. even untill today.
Now, i dont think the A-net designers are as mindless as you are who just keep complaining on me when i actually try/want to improve the game. (for everyone)

You could have 1 dmg / tick in AoE.
ppl whould still avoid it.

It is after all the only way to get some range dmg.
have armor fixed. working on rings etc.
you have so short cd on fire skills you cant affford to swap to a 50 % lower element.
i have 4.5 sec cd on my lava font. (crap skill). but its so short i can atleast use it all over the place and hopefully get a tick here and there.
i only switch to get away.
anything else is too low dmg to even consider.

Even though I highly doubt his claims about WoW experience, if he actually is telling the truth, I’d expect that he was complaining about Feral damage in WoTLK – but in bear form – because he wanted to be able to dps as a bear because he didn’t like cat form abilities.
I was one of the first DKs to 80, and i played on frostmane then.
and played that mainly thru wrath.
(played and raided all other classes before, why DK was more fun and new. and since i was one of the first. was second or third i belive by less than 1 hour. i automatically had a raid spot
If you didnt know. Bears was before a few emergency patches.. totaly insane.
they actually HAD close to cat dps.. in their tank form.
If you played, you whould remember why you saw alot of bears running around all of a sudden in pvp instead of cat.
Even i droped my DK for a moment just to have fun on the druid until the fixes came.
My brother played wow also.
also on frostmane. in Turbo. (was top 10 in the world at the time).
We were also friends with Memento Mori. top 1 guild in the world.
So, yes. i know all there is to know about wow. up to panda.

For air:

I have toned down my ideas Alot as you can see from my first Fix idea.

From what you’re saying it seems that YOU (who uses basicly only #1 fire and cries how worthless ele is) want it.
I really like staff and D/D. Not really into s/f (after like 500hours on ele i unlocked skills on it 2 weeks ago).
You’re the one who is seeing problems with staff, not me. I think it’s pretty strong and highly team supportive weapons. On blob (?) fight it surely does better than any other ele’s weapon combination.
On versus it will be never as good as d/d or s/d. It’s like expecting lb/riftle on warrior to be as good as eg. gs/axe&shield.And you do have choice. Why don’t you use almight effective D/D? Ah, cause that’s not the vision of mage? Too bad, that’s your problem.
I dont like DD becuase of what you said. mage + melee.. no thanx.
So give me an option to stay ranged. (iam not alone to dislike DD).
I dislike the current staff.. because there is no freedom.
and i also dislike the staff because if you are trying range nuker..
you only have 1 element to use. Fire.
and fire have:
*1 Autoattack. abit weak.
*2 Lava font. (Bad AoE, can get max 1 tick for low dmg).
*3 Explosion with minimum dmg but makes a fire dot. (decently good).
*4 Blazing retreat.. our escape. could be abit longer.
*5 Our iconic Meteor shower.
You only have these to play with if you want to be a range nuker.

But do they help me to be a ranged nuker ? Nope.. not one bit. None of them.
they are more for the Support area. aka.. not a nuker specialization.
and most important. why whould i swap to a 50% weaker element ??
so in the case of becoming a ranged nuker.
you dont need the other 3 elements.. specialy not since you get locked out from your primary dmg element fire IF you swap…

What are you talking about? You can always change your weapon do before a fight starts. In fact, I always change to the best weapon for the the fight I will be having. It isn’t hard to do.
How good for you that you always change to best weapon.

but then again.. always having the best weapon is easy.

Yes, but it doesn’t kill people in 1 shot and doesn’t grant you perma triple-protection (99% dmg reduction) – that’s what they think.

In a system where skills are locked into different weapons.
(fun test, but obviously a very flawed system).
Once you find a weapon that give you everything. wich in our case is DD.
you dont need any other weapon.
And because of that, you dont have any freedom at all in your choise of weapon.
we want freedom.
that is realy all we are asking for.
We dont want to 1 hit people..
and we dont want to have a perma tripple protection on us.

Not a fan of the OPs approach to addressing the community, if you look at everything.
Feels like WoW forums revisited. The tools available don’t fit how someone wants to be able to play (or aren’t obviously overpowered) so banging proverbial pots and pans and hyperbole is the answer. It’s so tiresome.
you are a wow player it seems..
(i was once too.. played in beta.. up untill Panda. so i know all there is to know).
so you realy want to go to, WoW. and comepare their mage to our ?
i can tag along.
WoW mages had: Staff. Dagger. Sword. Wand. + offhand stat buffer.
You had a spell book. where you picked the spells you wanted. depending on your specialization.. Fire, Ice, Arcane.
Spells wasnt tied to a special weapon. you could switch them around all you wanted.
You wanted a staff mage. just get a staff. you wanted dagger+offhand.. just get it.
Fire was more of a nuker specc. Burn them down fast. litteraly.
Ice was abit more tanky specc. abit lesser dmg. but still good burst potential.
Arcane was a high sustain dmg specc.
Now. GW2.
We have. Staff. Dagger. Scepter. Focus.
Our spells are bound to the weapons.. shift weapon, and you get different skills.
And its is more or less impossible to specialize on anything.
And also you are trapped in your weapon if you enter combat.
Wich had best system ? WoW.
It had alot better freedom. 3 totaly different specializations.
And you could also mix them abit for further customization, depending on what you wanted.
I never played GW1. but i heard the system there was better also.
wich made it possible to specialize in special element(+s).
This is why iam very interested to see what the designers have to say about our weapon types.
What was their base idea.. and what is the future idea.
But most important.
Will the future give us any freedom to play a weapon the way we want and see fit
depending on specc.
Like the Highly debated Staff.
Will we be able to specc it into being a range nuker specialization ?
Or will it stay as it is. Attack/defend a keep only.
Will Dagger/Dagger ever be considered a Melee/short range high nuker
instead of the ultimate. all in one super weapon it is now.
will scepter + focus ever be realy good at range.
I dont know about you. but i whould like to have more weapon freedom.
Should i use DD. staff or scepter…. hmm.. kitten . they are all realy good.
This is the dilemma i want to have. but i dont have.
use your favourite weapon until you get higher lvl.
then you just need to kill a few mobs to unlock all.
Our balista was under attack. i had scepter + focus in bag.
but i had no skills unlocked in it. none.
But now i need to deflect incoming balista fire…
so, i jumped down the wall.. and kill 2 – 3 birds.
i unlocked 1 skill / kill.
(i was lvl 80).
Not tested if this work on low level.
But try go to wvw.. and kill some mobs.
i get 1 skill unlocked / kill. on my weapons.
worth a try ?
yes. sure. summoned weapons. with limited amount of uses.
i dont know about you. but i dont consider gimmicks / toys,
to be classed as normal primary weapon options.
afterall. its not something you can use all time… Limited “ammo”.. and CD.
Besides. to be able to use these toy weapons, you need to take away skill slots wich i realy need for my primary weapon. (wich ever it is).
i DO have the elite Greatsword in slot.
nothing else is realy usefull. i use it to get away from crap.
its about the only use you have for it in any pvp area.
I can also use it in pve.. just for fun.. its a toy after all.
IF. they make summoned weapons to work as a KIT. like engineers have.
THEN i will totaly agree with you..
and i whould probably use a few of them myself sacrificing skill slots.
but with limited ammo.. no thanx.
Elemental have: Staff. Scepter. Dagger. Focus. 4 types.
Working types: i mean. realy working: Dagger/Dagger.
Warrior have: Sword. Hammer. Longbow. Axe. Greatsword. Mace. Rifle. Horn. Shield.
9 types.
Sword. heard from guild players, some realy heavy bleeding.
Hammer. high dmg + cc weapon.
Longbow. i see alot of warriors use this instead of rifle.
Axe. Realy good dmg on these. (what i use)
Legendary Greatsword. no explanation needed. we all know it.
Mace. dont see many people use this, other than with shield maybe.
Rifle. High single target dmg. Good burst if you land it. 8 k volley + 10k+ killshots.
Horn. Good to create more mobility. and support AoE.
Shield. CC + defense.
Working types: 8 of 9. (not counting rare mace).
So if warriors have more than 75 % working weapons.
why cant we have that also. or atleast 50 %.
you wont pick a D/D to storm a castles wall, or a staff to have a brawl fight with a warrior,
I think i prefer a staff against a warrior.
its easier to deflect his greatsword, than having tiny daggers for it…
But then again.
If i was a master of 4 elements. (only need 2).
I whould simply guide down a lightning strike from distance and see him get electrocuted to ash.
why even try melee…
you know.. metal armor + lightning = Evil. :P
Ele’s can have a staff?

What is the idea for the Staff: ??? (the most debated weapon)
(wvw sieges only. or possible single target nuker).

However, as I said before…. I would not use staff in PvP, havoc, 1v1, or any other small man engagements. It isn’t designed for those situations and d/d is vastly superior.
yes, we have all seen this now.
Staff should be Support role only… i realy do NOT agree.
nr1 we dont have weapon swap, stuck in staff or DD. in wrong situation. your screwed.
nr2 What if we dont want to be stuck in a support role the second we switch to a staff.
I want my elemental to be able to specialize in range dmg. NOT only support.
I dont want to stay at range, using only support skills.
YEY i can use my “enter-any-aoe-here”. wich none will ever stand still in.
hell. not even your own team stands still long enough for full effects.
I play a frikkin elemental-mage.
Give me option to get some serious single target range dmg on our staff.
As said before. Split the staff in 2. its very easily made.
and you open up many more options for a staff player. (minimum 4 new ways).
Support / Range dmg.
or a combo of the 2. depending on your elemental specialization and specc.
i dont like ther scepter either atm.
and like alot of people have said.
staff not 1v1. use DD for such.
if we can not have a weapon swap.
dont you think, All our weapons should be suitable for Both encounters then ?

even tho it will take 5 times more work to stay alive and deal dmg.
you seem as a skilled player on elemental. (abit above the average)
and you say you could never do the same with a staff or scepter, as what you do with your DD. ??

Buff and fix the other weapons to give us more real options.
just keep the base line. a mage is a mage. not a warrior.
Ask anyone about a mage.
and you get similar answears. its just as basic as 1 + 1 = 2.When did GW2 get a mage profession? It doesn’t show up on the character creation screen for me…..

But actually. you have 3 mage professions in gw2 showing on your creation screen.
*Mesmer: Specialize in manifesting energy clones of themselves to lure people.
*Necromancer: Specialize in power to wake up the dead and controling them.
*Elemental: Controll 4 elements to do their destruction/support. fire,earth,water,air.
Even Guardian is a sort of Battle-mage.
heavy armor, wielding bigger weapons, more focused on real battle and not spells.
But they do use spells to support them.. prot-fields. healing-fields etc.
thats why i like my guardian as he is. Because i know he is a sort of battle-mage..
so iam not trying to make him into something else.
But with the elemental.
Iam trying to make people realy see the elemental for what it realy are.
A mage class. and we should be allowed to play it like one.
Right now, our elemental specialist. (our mage).
is kind of the fake mages we have in Las Vegas. no real magic.
how do i play myself ?
I play fire.. and range.. dmg.
the second i see someone coming for me. i use nr4 to speed back abit.
then i just run as hell.
unless its a thief or a DD. i can most of the time get away if iam fast enough.
I have tried may times to attack stragglers. in solo fights.
but, using a staff. its doomed to fail.
I have killed a few. some new players.
But as soon as there is a moderate player.
(consider myself also a normal medium player)
they slize me up and feed me to their dogs in seconds.
fastest kill on me.. a thief. i was running along in wvw. heading towards target area.
*poff… a thief appeared… “WHOA”. 1 second later… “restart at waypoint”
they should be my anti class. but like this…
let me atleast survive 1 hit. so i have a chanse to do atleast something back.

quickly swap element to CC. hurry or he gets you… .. good work.
now lets kill him while he cant move… ohh wait.. your dmg just cut by 50 %… and your stuck in this crappy element now. long after he gets free.. crap.

lava font have delay missing target. = zero dmg.
fireball longer to cast but its auto aiming on moving targets to hit = some dmg.
fireball wins :P
A fix to lava font just popped in my head.
Why dont they have it this way:
you cast lava font on person. Dmg at cast.
person stands still in lava font. no dmg.
person moves. it ticks dmg every step.
