of course legendary is objectively the best in slot. It´s not even debatable.
Legendaries have the ability to switch stats on the fly which make them objectively better than ascended items. They also tend to be the best looking items in a game that is all about cosmetics (at least it used to before the ascended gear treadmill was introduced for raids)
In six months to a year legendary armor will be required for raids so that you can change stats on the fly for every raid boss. Ascended gear will become the new exotics and people will exclude you from raiding if you only have ascended gear as it is the case now with exotics and raiding.

Best in slot is the best thing you can put in that slot that you have available.its not rocket science.maybe you find your left shoe works great for your right foot.but people are all different and we wont/cant always agree.My point is valid and nothing you say or how often you say it changes that.

iv put the work into this game 163 mastery points.Everything i can do i have done.grind i can grind.but im blind in one eye and 6/52 in the other. raids are not possible for me. And the game still is. Best in slot is still Ascended. And let me ask you one different question since you talk so much about best in slot. Where would you use that best in slot if don’t care to play any “high tier” game mode? What do you need it for? Even if you say Legendary allows you to switch stats so it’s better, which type of content would you do that it requires you to swap your stats???? The only piece of content that requires multiple gear stats is raiding, which you won’t do, so what do you need that Legendary armor for?
I will use it to show off my best in slot gear like everyone else does.this is a dress up game dont you know that.I put in a lot of time and effort for that best in slot bragging rights gear.And anet made a promise id get to keep that best in slot gear at pax south as they didn’t want a gear treadmill.bullkitten and lies.In my opinion and im sure others will share it, if you have two pieces of gear one ascended the other legendary what peice would you think best to put in a free slot.now i say thats obviously legendary.

65,000,000 xp to max out mastery’s and theirs a lot of repeating ie grind.the hard part is getting those last mastery few points from adventures.
since i have put £3000 and over 3k hrs il not be leaving something im so invested in

Legendary armor tier and the gear treadmill we were promised at pax south would not happen did not exist pre hot.
Maybe when some one from anet comes down from up high and tells me that i have been a bit silly spending my money on there cash shop il take that on board.I payed good honest money to help get me my best in slot gear and im not happy they took that away after a pack of lies at pax south.Sure a lot of players who cant aford to spend what i can on the game dont want me not having to do the same amount of grind as them.I used the systems that were in the game to get what i got.you dont like it tough.
Why you playing a game that had a cash shop from day one? and why does anet allow the abuse of players who use that legitimate game mechanic on there own forums.

There was no legendary armor in the game pre hot,that tier and gear treadmill was added with hot inspite of promises at pax south this would not happen.No worries il pay to join groups doing the raids 350-450g. but that dont change the fact anet are not above deception to get more money from us.Probably working as intended 5% can do the raids the rest buy gems to pay to get them done.
How meany times do i need to say it?at pax south we got a promise of no gear grind and no new tiers.They gave us both.if legendary were not considered better than ascended ie a higher tier then no one would put in that extra 20x the work you suggest.This is a complaint about a company that just plain lies and then does 180 after they get your money.That im sure this will turn round and bite them on the kitten .

They made a promise at pax south that no new tiers of gear would be added as they did not want to have gear grind in the game and invalidate all our hard work.They then added a gear grind for legendary armor and as i see it invalidate my ascended armor sets.
I spend real money to cut down on grinding mats so i can do the content i like and am able to do.Now if at some point they add another way that i and others for various cant do raids can start this gear grind treadmill for legendary armor that will lesson the blow to me.But it wont make what was said at pax south true.
In the end anet will decide who they want playing there game.People who spend money who actually will never be capable of doing raids due to disability’s.but i think it will take more than the dozen new players you mention to make up the £3000 uk iv put in to this game in the last year.Time will tell.
I really hope they never ever add top tier items that are obtainable with gold. Gold (and gems, and real money) should be all about cosmetics, making legendary weapons available with gold was one of the most serious mistakes Anet did with this game.
I’m all for adding new ways of getting Legendary armor and I’m sure they WILL add some (remember Ascended Rings?) once the new-ness of Raids wears out, maybe after the Third wing is released. Even if it’s a different skin than the Raid skin, or has less particle effects or whatever.
However, giving the players the ability to buy things that aren’t purely cosmetic with real money, gems, gold was a dumb move and they are “solving” that, like the new precursors/legendary weapons, the legendary armor. The game needs more of that to feel rewarding, to get rewards from actually doing content and not farming the easy farms or spending cash.
If changing direction and moving towards a more rewarding game, content-wise, forces players who used real money to earn their rewards to leave, then so be it. Such a change in direction will make other players who left BECAUSE the game was all about the gem store, and spending money to earn gems, to come back.
if you think this game loosing players that spend real money and getting back players that dont is going to give you anything but a closed down game lol.
I did not buy my legendarys with gold i got 100% map completion. and bought the mats it takes a long time to farm and the precursors.For a game that relies so heavily on gem sales its a bit of a cheek for anyone to come on here and slag me off for spending more than most on gems.i also have max masterys 163 and in the 3k hrs iv played i made 30-50 g a day pre hot.So unlike some on these here forums would suggest i actually play the game.My point still stands i spent £3000 and this dishonest company took my best in slot armor and invalidated the time and money i put into itDespite promises at pax south that this would not happen.The way i see it is if you got say 2 great swords, one ascended and one legendary, what one are you going to think is best and put in that slot?To me that answer is obvious the legendary,hence its best /in slot.My opinion on this matter is as valid as any ones.

At pax south we were promised our best in slot armor would stay best in slot.
They launched hot with a new tier of armor and invalidated our ascended armor.

Just as a side note,i play only one warrior and after getting him best in slot gear iv spent a lot of gold helping other players,I bought a guy dusk today on the tp just cos i had plenty gold and he had all the gifts.Im not in this game just for me.I have said it before on these forums im severely disabled and played this game to feel normal.i spent money on it and now im angry as i feel anet have lied and cheeted me.

I have asked anet for a full refund on all money spent on guild wars 2 as i feel they broke there verbal contract not to invalidate the gear i put so much work and money into.
