The leaderboards are supposed to show who the best players are, and not who plays the most games! It’s that simple!
With that said, I don’t think Anet should be focusing on the leaderboards! The game needs more people for it to work! And stop trying to bring PvE-ers into PvP! If they wanted to PvP, they would’ve done so already! There is literally no competition in this game! In every tournament, it’s the same people winning every time! To truly make this game grow Anet needs to figure out a way to get new people to play! There are so many MMO PvP players out there and hardly any of them play Guild Warts 2! Why do you think that is! Probably because there’s only one game mode! Probably because certain maps in the rotation are just plain awful! Probably because you guys release patches SO SLOW!!! Why should this WoW PvPer come over to Guild Warts 2 when Guild Warts 2 doesn’t even have any arenas! Arenas are true esports! So sick of hearing rotations rotations rotations rotations! This is PvP! I want to slay other people and not stand on a goshdarn point!
Not only that but Anet needs to figure out ways to get current players to improve! We can accomplish that by setting up tiers! There are tiers in WvW! You don’t see Blackgate facing Henge of Denravi because Henge of Denravi will just get stomped! The same thing happens in these Mistpedia or ESL tournaments or whatever! Organize people by their MMRs into tiers and have players from each tier face each other for prizes like gems or glorious armor or whatever!
Also, the game is so inaccessible! I firmly believe this game is the best MMO out there! But who’s gonna take my word for it! People need to play it to find out! Make a permanent demo version like World of Wartcraft has! Cap the level at 10 or something! Make it so they can play unranked arenas or hotjoins or something! Goshdarn it this game has so much potential it makes me so angry to see it wasted!

I don’t get it my frands! Why isn’t your leaderboard rank related to your MMR! Whoever has the highest MMR should have the highest leaderboard rank! That seems like it would eliminate all problems! Is there something I’m not seeing!

Celestial is fine! If it was a broken amulet, then we’d see it used on more classes! But the fact of the matter is Celestial is a pretty terrible amulet choice for most classes! How is that broken! The issue is that Elementalists are they only class with permanent vigor, combined with insane protection uptime, stacking 25 might permanently for their entire team, fury, crazy condi removal, crazy amounts of burn uptime, sustain up the butt, etc etc etc.! Still think Celestial is overpowdered! U cray dawg!
Their vigor needs to be brought down in line with every other class and their protection uptime needs to be reduced! Also their burn duration and might stacking capabilities need to be toned down! Then let overpowdered Necromancers start with like 3-4000 Life Force and BAM! Perfect meta!

I took Adventurer Runes over Balthazar is for a few reasons!
- With Energy Sigil you have more than enough dodges! You can time it right to dodge 4 times if you’re being focused as well as Gear Shield and Elixir S! You probably shouldn’t burn all your defensive cooldowns/dodges in one place but the option is there if you’re being trained really hard and your team isn’t good enough to help you out! I guess we can call it burst survivability! Because of that you can have both Protection Injection and Backpack Regen with only 20 points invested into Alchemy! More survivability! Protection is insanely good!
- In my experience, the damage loss is minimal because there is so much AoE condi clear in the meta (multiple DD Ele, Healing Turret AoE cleanse, shout Guardians, etc)! If your Incendiary Powder/Blowtorch is cleansed before they reach 6/8 seconds of burning, then there is no damage loss at all! And they will often be cleansed before that! Nobody wants long burn duration on them!
Of course Balthazar Runes are still pretty good! They really shine in 1v1s where your opponent can’t get condi clear from team support meaning your long duration burns are more potent! You can change the build up like taking Invigorating Speed over Prot Injection and you could swap out Energy Sigil for something else! Battle, Leeching, Doom, Generosity, etc! Just please don’t listen to that terrible site, Metabattle, and use Earth Sigil! That’s just bad for this build (and most Engi builds)! And don’t go 30 into Alchemy! Getting Hair Trigger is NECESSARY if you’re running P/P! Also the precision helps with Sharpshooter and Incendiary Powder procs, and the extra condi damage boosts your bleeds to over 100 damage per tick!
Some other things to note!
- Neither condi nor Celestial Engi can win against a condi Necro of equal skill 1v1 unless you really, really, really, really, really outplay them! And even if you’re lucky and you do, you still probably won’t win!
- You can decap (Veecap) with Magnet + Supply Crate (+ Glue Shot) with a condi build but it’s highly situational! First, there can only be one person on point who isn’t a Thief, Guardian with Aegis, Mesmer with Mirror of Anguish, Ranger with Shared Anguish, Necro with Reaper’s Protection, and anyone who has instant condi clear for the immobilize! And you should really only use it if you absolutely need that point, ie if you’re about to lose the game if you don’t get a decap! It’s a waste of a Supply Crate cooldown to use it in a 1v1 and you’re both at full health! Even though there are a lot of “ifs” when it comes to the #Veecap, Vee Wee saw a pretty high success rate when using it!
- Condi Engi usually wins vs DD Ele 1v1! I know I used to rarely lose to DD Ele!
- I prefer Elixir S over Slick Shoes! With Slick Shoes you can’t get a guaranteed stomp! You can’t stealth! Stealthing is amazing! You can save teammates from getting stomped, get a stealth stomp, stealth to disengage, stealth to backcap, etc! Slick Shoes isn’t bad though! The knockdown can be really potent if your opponent doesn’t have stability! Slick Shoes is also the absolute anti Thief! You’ll have a relatively short stunbreak cooldown, though I run Protection Injection so that aspect is pretty meh for me!

Going full Tools just for an extra random Aegis proc every 15 seconds for that extra 1 second burn isn’t worth it at all to me! You’re basically devoting 30 points to apply a 1 second burn to a random target at a random time! Better off going Alchemy! In Vee Wee’s opinion, Alchemy is one of the best trait lines for the Engineer and probably one of the best trait lines in the entire game! Out of every class!

Just going to say it! Turrets are bad! In all game modes! But if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t care about that kind of stuff then more power to you! Here’s some advice!
- Don’t go into the Inventions tree! It is by far the worst trait line that the Engineer has and in Vee Wee’s opinion one of the worst trait lines in the entire game! For all game modes! Even if you’re running multiple turrets!
- Never run 3 turret utilities! The Engineer’s strength comes from kits! Taking 3 turret utilities just gimps you in ways that would make even Channing Tatum cringe!
- If you really want to do dungeons with turrets, use them as party buffs and not as forms of damage dealing! The damage they deal is too pathetic even with Rifled Turret Barrels! Your own damage may suffer, but stacking might and fury on your entire team, as well as many vulnerability stacks on the bad guys is pretty huge! I am here to speak to you about “Sinister” armor stats, and why i think it should be added to the s/t PvP scene.
First of all, an introduction to those of you, unaware of what “Sinister” gear is. Sinister stats are condition damage, power, and precision!
Some of us would like to use hybrid builds without having to use the terrible useless awful poopy worthless Rampager Amulet and without having to sacrifice offensive power for useless defensive stats from Celestial Amulet!

Yes my frand! Toning down D/D Ele burning and adding visible icons to passive buffs/procs is really going to affect PvE! New metas will be formed! We may even have to stack in different corners!
A condi ranger isn’t going to have a 3 second proc with those runes because they do not invest into the condi duration tree! Neither will Necromancer unless they run 30/20/0/0/20! Vee Wee welcomes those Necromancers because Vee Wee thinks they are much weaker than the 0/30/20/0/20 variant! Plus no more Nightmare Runes! Orr’s bonus grants a possible 50% poison uptime but the other bonuses are poo poo! Grenth has a 30 second cooldown and that’s why it’s a terrible rune that nobody uses competitively even though chill is one of the strongest conditions in Vee Wee’s opinion! There are basically 3 choices! Long duration with long cooldown, short duration with short cooldown which Vee Wee opted for, and short duration with long cooldown which makes it bad! Vee Wee doesn’t think 25% chance of 2 second burning is over the top but unlike Anet Vee Wee listens to feedback and we can change it to a possible 3-4 seconds every 20 seconds if you are really against it! 420! The only way we can know for sure is by testing! This is why Ready Up balance previews stink and test servers are great! You can talk about and give all the feedback you want but if you can’t play it then nothing anyone says holds any weight! The illusion of community support frands! sigh………
Vee Wee does main Engineer but Vee Wee does not use Balthazar Runes! Vee Wee wouldn’t use these new Balthazar Runes either! Again my frands there is no hidden agenda! Vee Wee tried to be as objective as possible! If you think Engineer is OP especially with a nerf to Incendiary Powder, well get good son!
Flame Jet is only getting a tiny boost in damage! Doubling the damage per hit but halving the amount of hits basically equals out! The biggest change is to how much retaliation damage you deal to yourself! Any Engi who uses or has used the FT knows that retal is just a huge downer!
Fumigate should not remove conditions from yourself unless it comes from a trait deep into a tree! Engineer does need more condition removal options, but they should have to sacrifice things to get it! Adding amazing condi clear to a kit that’s already strong and a popular choice for many meta builds will just break the class!
Vee Wee never said Empathic Bond should get an icon! But there should be a particle effect signaling when it happens! Randomness is such a drag! You are also right my frands! Hide in Plain Sight does not need an icon!
Vee Wee did quit, but Vee Wee wants to return when PvP isn’t so goshdarn stale! Vee Wee didn’t spend over 2 years on this game because it sucks! This is a great game my frands! This next patch, although a welcome change to structure, won’t really solve any of Vee Wee’s gripes! Vee Wee wants new game modes and new maps! Back to dreaming I guess!

My frand infantrydiv Vee Wee just copied the other condi duration runes like Grenth and Orr! Vee Wee doesn’t think 25% chance of a 2 second burn isn’t thuper op! Much better than the original turning the 6 piece bonus into a 5 second burn and giving Incendiary Powder 7 seconds of burning! Vee Wee doesn’t even use Balthazar Runes on Vee Wee’s condi build! There is no hidden agenda!
As for the other unfrandly guy! Yeah subtle changes really made the Elementalist into what it is now! Extra blast finishers for a class with the most blast finishers and combo fields in the game, the revamp and reintroduction of a powerful amulet! Also the remodeling of a runeset into one of the strongest and most widely used runes! Buffing the power of the heal skill! Really subtle changes as opposed to shaving a few seconds of skill durations and giving passive procs a visible label! Get good son!

Sigil of Battle: This sigil now grants 3 stacks of might for 15 seconds (down from 20)!
Sigil of Intelligence: This sigil now grants the next two attacks 100% critical chance (down from three)!
Sigil of Doom: This sigil’s proc can now be blocked, dodged, etc.
Superior Rune of Balthazar
(1): +25 Condition Damage

(4): 25% chance when struck to inflict burning for 2 seconds. (10 second cooldown)

(6): +20% Burning duration; when you use a heal skill nearby foes are burned for 3 seconds. Cooldown: 10s
Necromancer:
- Necrotic Grasp now deals 25% more damage!
- Marks now take 0.25 seconds to activate after being placed!
- Marks can now hit foes in downstate!
- Reaper’s Protection now displays a buff icon when off cooldown that can be seen by opponents!
Elementalist:
- Removed blast finisher from Frozen Burst!
- Ring of Fire duration now four seconds (down from six)!
- Drake’s Breath burn duration now two seconds (down from three)!
- Diamond Skin now displays a buff icon when active that can be seen by opponents!
- An opponent’s Swirling Winds now has a red ring outline!
Engineer:
- Incendiary Powder now grants a buff to the Engineer causing the next crit to burn for 4 seconds. 10 second cooldown! This can be blocked, dodged, etc! The buff can be seen by opponents similar to Doom/Intelligence sigils!
- Automated Response now displays a buff icon when activated that can be seen by opponents!
- Flame Jet now hits 5 targets! Number of hits reduced from 10 to 5! The damage for each hit is doubled! Channel time reduced from 2.25 seconds to 2 seconds! Burn duration from the final hit increased from 1 to 2!
- Fumigate now hits 5 targets!
- Static Discharge now uses Lightning Strike on your target on toolbelt use instead of Chain Lightning
- Downstate’s Grappling Line replaced with Magnetic Pull, essentially a blockable version of Tool Kit’s Magnet!
Ranger:
- Shared Anguish now displays a buff icon when off cooldown that can be seen by opponents!
- Hide in Plain Sight now displays a buff icon when off cooldown that can be seen by opponents!
- When Empathic Bond removes conditions, a transfer effect can be seen from the Ranger to the pet!
Mesmer:
- Mirror of Anguish now displays a buff icon when off cooldown that can be seen by opponents!
- An opponent’s Feedback now has a red ring outline!
Guardian:
- An opponent’s Sanctuary now has a red ring outline!
Any other major passive proc/buff that Vee Wee forgot to mention also has a buff icon that can be seen by opponents!

Here you go my frand Lupanic! Here is the build against ostrich egg’s D/D Elementalist! The build can beat Elementalists 1v1 though it will be differen on point! On one hand you get the benefit of Flame Turret! On the other you will get hit by many more attacks including possible long burn durations! Will add more in a sec! Looking through the video for highlights!
As for Necromancers, Power Necromancers are easy since they have no Vigor! Lich Form can be dealt with because you have a lot of blinds, reflects, and blocks! Condi Necros on the other hand, as with all Engineer builds, are very difficult to beat! You really have to outplay them and dodge their condi transfers and block their fears which is much easier said than done! Marks are pretty broken! Do not attempt to 1v1 a condi Necro unless you really have to!

My France! Vee Wee has uploaded guides for every one of Vee Week’s original builds except these 2! Well just in case some of you are interested, here it is my Frands! First vee wee is bored and on her phone so don’t expect too much detail! Fat thumbs! Vee wee will edit this to go more in depth when vee wee has a real kkeyboard and isnt getting trolled by auto correct! Vee wee will also upload some highlights showcasing these builds in action! Vee wee doesn’t play the game anymore but will log in for a game or two just for you guys! My frands! Vee wee also promises these videos will be HD and have sound! Vee wee’s stream is HD now!
Also vee wee wants to point out that vhese builds are for fun only! The elixir build is particularly weak since it doesn’t run kits but you can make things happen! Vee wee has beaten dd cele eles with that build! Vee wee has also beaten many sd thieves with the build! If you remember way back in the day, the introduction of sd thieves effectively killed off elixir builds and to this day remains a huge counter! The 1spam build is pretty effective though even against good players running meta builds! OK frands! Here we go!

This build is exactly that! You whip out elixir gun and mash tranquilizer dart until the other guy dies! Its pretty potent because of the permanent weakness! Your other skills are for defense and other general condi application! Generally you’ll want to open up with your 1 spam and throw napalm! Then you want to place your flame turret on the point and then proceed to spam permanent weakness, many bleeds, and permanent burning on your foe un til he dies! Easy! You are very durable and have many defensive cool downs from tool kit and shield! You also have many might stacks from flame turret and fire field so your condis will hit extra hard!
This is mainly a 1v1 build frands but it has a role in teamfights too! You want to focus bunkers with your tranq dart spam! Weakness destroys endurance and without dodges bunkers die fast! A dead bunker on the other team will really swing a teMfight in your favor! You should also be focusing power based classes! Weakness really poops on power damage!
Variants!
Earth sigil over geomancy! Generally earth sigil is pretty terrible but for a single target oriented build like this, earth sigil could be better! Especially if you are a more passive player! Vee wee likes to get in your face so vee wee prefers geomancy!
Doom sigil! Doom sigil can replace either geomancy or energy! If you replace energy then vee wee recommends swapping out protection injection for invigorating speed! Doom sigil is so great because poison really hurts the many high sustain cele builds out there! Poison is just an all around good anti heal! You’re putting permanent weakness on them and reducing their healing output by a third! Its sweet! wahoo!
Mortar! Yes you can use mortar in this build! Since in team fights your job should be crippling the enemy team, especially the bunker, mortar can fulfill this role perfectly! Covering the point with 10+ seconds of chill, cripple, and bleeds is pretty huge especially for their bunkers! That plus permanent weakness ensures swift death to the enemy bunker if there’s enough team coordination. Supply crate will literally always be better but if you see a really good bunker, give mortar a try! Not recommended on foefire!
Swap rifled barrels for steel packed powder! Steel packed powder actually does very little in this build! But that extra point in explosives will boost your napalm and incendiary power durations to 7 seconds! If you don’t mind losing some condition damage and elixir gun range, go this route!

Vee Wee is glad some people are enjoying the builds! Vee Wee loves to help the Engineer community, even if Vee Wee doesn’t play the game anymore! Vee Wee is a little saddened that trolls like to attack Vee Wee and Vee Wee’s thread for no reason other than to troll Vee Wee! Anyway Vee Wee would like to clear the air! Vee Wee knows Vee Wee should just let it go but Vee Wee will do it anyway!
Yes it’s true my frands! Vee Wee did not create all of these builds! This is why Vee Wee gave credit to Chaith and Hiba for creating their respective builds! If you read the post you would have seen it! When Chaith first posted his power build on the forums over a year ago, nobody called him a rampaging plagiarist! A real shame it’s happening now! Especially since Vee Wee has been using the same condi build with minimal changes/upgrades from patches since Incendiary Powder was an adept trait that had a 33% to proc burning for 3 seconds! Who here even remembers those days! Elixir R/Bomb Kit/Grenade Kit was the meta back then! Good times!
Anyway you’ll find that aside from Chaith’s and Hiba’s build, all of Vee Wee’s PvP builds are unique in comparison to other top Engi builds! For example, Chaith, one of the best Engis in the world, runs Intelligence Sigil and Power Wrench in his celestial rifle build while Vee Wee chooses to run Doom and Leg Mods! The builds are otherwise identical but Vee Wee views them as two different builds! Vee Wee’s version is tailored to Vee Wee’s own playstyle because in Vee Wee’s opinion, that’s how a build is supposed to be!
Furthermore in 3500+ hours and thousands upon thousands of tournament games played, Vee Wee has never encountered Vee Wee’s own build from people that Vee Wee didn’t specifically give the build too! So nyah on the haters!
And finally Vee Wee wishes everyone the best and Vee Wee hopes these builds help or maybe offer insight or maybe you can just ignore them if you don’t like them! Vee Wee only posted them because Vee Wee was removing them from Vee Wee’s Twitch channel and thought maybe some people would enjoy them, especially since some people were still messaging Vee Wee on Steam asking for advice on builds!
