If necro is play’ng glass cannon build he is helpless agains most of the thiefs and there is nothing to say more, because this build is good for team that can support necro. In most of the cases necro is first one ,who will be under target ,so for new necro player – glass canon is tabu
In most of other builds ,thiefs are not such a big problem.
But i understand that necro vs thief is hard for most of newbies.
Well , it is hard to take tpvp in GW2 seriously.
I don’t care about leaderboard at all as well as about ranks.
All is left is to play for fun.
Minion need AI improvment ,pff that never going to happen. Minion AI where allway horroble, thats why i allway ignored necro in GW1.
MM is a good for PvE [it is not better that power necro, but it is effective] and it is accepteble on PvP, but i would not play it on WvW.
it takes little to no intelligence to play my build . i use marks to hit them first slow them down use 3 then 2 and switch to dagger focus , hit with 5 then 4 then 3 then 2 and use flesh golem to knock them down , use bone fiend to root them again , if i have dots after that , switch to staff hit them with 4 , and 5 and then jump in ds to fear again and 2 then finish them off with life transfer , out out of ds stomp , me smiley face

For PvP you build is realy bad,mate.
First even withou talking about Minion’s and the AI, you 5,4,3,2 will break realy fast. Cast of 5,4,3 is realy long for necro ,so you can be prepared that enemy will evade it.
So what’s you plan after you “combo” fail’d? you will try the same thing with Minions.
Even if Minion skills will work you won’t able to kill opponent [if he is not total noob].

Last time engi get buffs , and now necro is last clas in pvp :P
Ele get some nerf but its still in top 3.
So i am sure for 100% yu shal chose ele.

I recommend Ele as well, as it ist bit easier .
Don’t get this wrong, both classes is hard to master, but to play necro successfuly
you need to have good class understanding. Same time you can make ele and be successful without it [in case you are not a total noob]

It became annoying as hell. We need possobility to report AFK and Leavers in TPvP .
So that they get time base’d ban and could not play TPvP for a day or smth like that.
I am sick of playng 2vs5 tournaments, only because some @#$%^ is @#$%ing off or smth like that. I am sick of loosing games only ,because ppl are tryng to play tournament from a calculator. It is annoyng. All i am asking for that it is possible to play game fair as possible.
No way! Less animation , the harder class for opponens. I mean if they make new animation for necro. and the opposent team in pvp will easily see what necro is doing, so that is realy bad. For example marks – casting marks will play allway the same animation, so enemy never know what mark are you casting, and thats good.

So you want to make Necro TPvP run. If so i am glad to join. I Play’d it once ,back in old Paid day’s and it was realy cool. we had 2 cond necro ,2 glass cannon necros and 1 MM necro with pets. That was realy game, i would realy enjoy to repeat it.

Rank does tell how experienced you are however. A lot of tpvp has almost nothing to do with who is best mouse jockey/fighter. Its all about knowing the maps, how to attack point intelligently, when to engage or disengage from a fight, when to do certain things ie dodge, stun break, stomp, cc plus a lot of other things. You don’t know that right away and really it probably takes about 15-20 levels to learn all those nuances for your average player. It probably wouldn’t be popular but maybe it would be better if A-Net made all hotjoins 5v5 and prevented you from doing Tpvp until at least glory rank 10. And add a brief video tutorial like someone mentioned in tpvp before the match you could watch during the start up time.
You are right, but all this wont make sens with some PvE build. So Build come first, they map controll (as point holder you must not know that) and of cource expirence.
All thous thing doesnt have anything to do with your rank. I know a lot of ppl who are rank 50 + ,but they can’t play on TPvP because they are solo hot join players .
If you want to srat with TPvP like a big boy, you need some one who will show you around and explain everything. If you want to start with Hot Join [if you are necro ,you can ignore Hot Join mostly] they do you’r self a favore and make a good working build
i play necro only + i play only pvp.
Well’s are realy effective there.
Don’t know about wvw or pve – i would not use them there and play some condition builds.
With wells you can make realy good dmg, so i would recommend before using it , stunn ppl or smth like that

First : you want to play on hot join or TPvP?
If Hot Join i would recommend some MM Hybrite[wisper me in game and i would give you my build]
If TPvP Necro plays more as support dmg, i would recommend you Glass Cannon necro if you team can heal you and give bit of might stacks.[same thing, i can give you my build if you wish]
As a Necro beginner i would recommend you to play on Condition build. there are many of them [didn’t play like this for a long time, so i cant give any build directly. As i started as necro i used TokyoMurai builds].
Anyway I would not recomment to start as necro atm, because effectivness of necro is not realy high.

I realy try to understand game dev. but i can’t.
With such easy PvE where only hard thing is to get party with at least gramm of brains for dungeon and WvW that ist realy my thing ,as i see it as Zerg vs Zerg, only option for me where PvP. You know what?! They kill’d it aswell, after they diable Paid TPvP [actualy for me they kill’d it after they change paid reward system].
They are destroing Warrior and Necro in PvP. It became almost impossibe to be effective this classes.
I understand that making more skills and sec. profession wont balance the game, but at least it will make game a lot interesting.
And they should redesing PvE as it is realy to easy. I run it without even selecting a single trait.
They should at least add to PvE HardMode like in gw1 .
you can still join Hotjoin “for fun”, tournaments are meant to be rated, not a stompground
for hot join some classes requere diffrent builds [for example it is almost impossible to play hot join as Full DD]
+hard to play with friends team, because you will get in diffrent teams
+most of players in hot join are playng not as a team, but as WvW [zerg style] and thats not realy fun.
Yeah I don’t really think the “tier lists” have necros low cause the creators think they’re bad, but cause the other classes are either more useful or just OP in some regard.
I mean every tourney team needs a guardian to bunker, and most usually search for mesmers for home point guards cause they’re OP 1v1 and have portal, then thieves make the best burst cause they also have a lot of utility, and eles are simply OP in general so why not take several of them?
So I personally put necro after those 4 classes but ahead of engies, rangers, and obviously the UP warrior. But there are some frustratingly good engie builds coming out and due to the necros higher skill cap more people are favoring the engie now (higher then these newer engie builds, i know the engineer has an incredibly high skill cap in general, hold the flaming…).

That’s half true half false.
Thieves can be very useful in MANY different ways in small and large fights. Warriors on the other hand literally have NOTHING going for them, so no they can not be “very good.”
Also you didn’t even put mesmer on your list.
I personally see it like this:
TOP TIER:
-Ele
-Guardian
-MesmerMID TIER:
-Thief
-Necro
-Engie
-RangerLOW TIER:
-Warrior
And in that order, the first three are almost essential for tourney teams (with ele simply being OP, essential or not). The next four are all viable options in some way but are not necessary, an ele can replace any of them basically. Finally the warrior, there is no reason to take a warrior over any of the other classes.
I shall not hold the flaming sir. Necros are ez mode in comparison to HGH engis and are far inferior in general due to a lack of burning, lack of condi variety and lack of physical damage. They’re also less reactionary in the sense that their main damaging abilities are also their main CC and access to poison. Their lack of a stun break in builds running signet of undeath hampers their survivability immesnely. The “fix” to epidemic just kicked em while they were already down. While you could consider them “good”, other classes do their job and do it MUCH, MUUUUUUCH better.
But seriously, engis are not easy to play. God kittening kitten

Minions AI need to be fix’d as soonas possible, ‘cuz only place it is not useless is Hot Join games. In TPvP it is not so effective as i could be.
Don’t realy understand why you guys what to play MM in WvW, i think power/condition Necro will be ther much better, ’cuz you kill easily zergs.
As for PvE necro in my opinion has no issues, I think in PvE no class has any issues ,because PvE is too kitten easy.

Necro is good example for class balance.
Necro can play most of the roles in game. The problem with necro is that other classes are still not in balance [same Ele].
With Necro you can deal good dmg while controlling enemy,can be great distance supporter with conditions and pretty good tank . Only thing that isnt working are Minions .
I understand that some classes can deal much more dmg and survive longer [acutaly only 2 classes can do that :Ele and Ranger], but it is only because of disbalance and nothing more.
Shame that most of the teams are using Necros exactly as you said, but Dager necros are really cool )
I had a post here about pros/cons of plague signet, but I wasn’t sure about it and mostly I’m just glad to see someone recognizing that plague signet is functioning correctly.
As long as i know ,Signet was allways work’d correctly.
realistically, more about the player than class that is important. but of course, that’s not the point of class tiers.
the other day, i faced a necro who literally just stood on point. didn’t move AT all and would barely lose any health. any health lost would be regained. extremely tanky and by doing so, bought time for his teams or distracted more than 1 or 2 players while the rest of his team could go cap other stuff. very awesome.
sound great, but i rearly think tanky necro can support team on point fight as Guardian.
But as i said before – Necro is team supporter and it is realy hard to play necro on solo
i guess there are not so many cond. necro anymore. ppl just stop’d playing thous build – at least in Eu tpvp. plague is not but, but it more like not so effective as other skills – for example Undeath signet.

Build looks interessting. It is deffenetly not easy build , because using effectivly Specral wall is pretty hard [personaly i am ignoring this skill at all].
Still dmg from d/d and from well is not so high. MB i will even test this build and will reply more details )

The DMG is not so high , well i mean most of DMG you make will come from Cond.
Most players are[in TPvP] waiting for it, so they have some cond. cleaning skills.
Can’t say anything good about this build if it was made for Tpvp. in public it could work)
Hello necro community, I’m coming to you as a somewhat new to necro PvP player :P
I have a max lvl necro and I do WvW with him and I think it’s great fun but I have never seriously gotten into sPvP with him cause my tourney team already has a good necro.
But recently there have been some changes, first our necro quit GW2 out of frustration and I can no longer effectively play a warrior (my previous role) in tPvP since the 26th.
So essentially we decided I could bring my necro into s/tPvP as either the support wells role or as a high burst/damage build. Which lead me to this forum in the recent past asking about builds. I got a lot of great help and came up with a build that I would like your opinions on.
It’s a “burst” build, not insane like a thiefs output or warriors former burst, but it’s still quite high and has more utility and survivability to back it up.
It’s a roamer so I have the warhorn and I’m not using it as a support so no need for staff. The axe is great for two things, the first being that using the AoE cripple stacks retal on me, and with that alongside my DS jumping retal applications and how a lot of teams auto focus necros it does quite a bit of damage. Secondly it’s good for figuring out if theres a thief in the area or not, since retal is applied if it hits invisible targets as well lol
The dagger speaks for itself really, high single target damage with a self healing skill that does a decent amount of damage to people trying to run away, then the immobilize that I use to deal lots of WoS damage.
I guess I just want your opinions on the utilities and runes mainly, cause I don’t understand too much about runes, having used the same kinds on my warrior for so long and never having to change the ones on my bunker guardian lol Then the utilities, I like spectral armor but is spectral walk better? And I like spectral wall so far while testing in hotjoins, the long protection for my team and high vuln stack on enemies does WONDERS, but is it worth it?

Never like’d to play as necro in GW1 ,but in GW2 it is only proffesion i can accept in PvP.
It is mostly supporter and aggro style with pretty good chances to survive. dont realy understand why you don’t like necro.
hope Arena net will fix Minions AI soon, so it would be possible [effective] to play as MM Necro as well.
Necro is support classs. You can do many build’s but in the end you will be supporter and thats why you can’t say necro is tier 1.

If you want to compare Necro and Eng – In cond. builds Eng is harder to play ,but in Power builds Necro [Never play’d Necro in Tank builds, cuz my team doesnt need any].
Necro is NOT the strongest class even in full Power build, ’cuz its not so mobile nor leak of defence as :Mesemer, Ele or Thief
The worst thing for necro is Public games, because Necro is team player.
