1. Reward : simply because everyone has to be motivated. I know balance is not in best shape – but if u are playng without a team, or your team is not full, I would not bother to enter a tpvp even for warm up

2.Game mode: Why is this over balance ? Simply because with new gamemodes the ideal balance will change. At start some pvp modes from gw1 would be a nice start )

3.Classes Philosophy:The idea that every class can play as every role is nice, but it is a non reachable ideal. It would be nice to rethink if every class is exactly that, what is was designt for *also it would be great if you would share this information with community

4.Balance: With new modes in mind and after the classes are rethink/redesignt/reworked it is time to think how to balance them all. I dont think the heavy CC is the best solution for this kind of game. I dont think there is a big problem with conditions – but the CC is bit too heavy at the moment and overall this game (in my opinion) should have as few as possible of it.

I am feeling kinda bad, because the think which are gems are for most sPvP player unrelevant, thou cool stuff like weapons skins from seasons (Halloween, etc) are not sold for gems.
Why wont you just add Weapons skins at least for sPvP?

There is no single part of our player base that we should or do listen to more than the other. Every player has equal opportunity to say how they feel, and the “4%-10%” is not excluded in that. What we “listen” to is reason and objective feedback.

Do note though, what we listen to != what we implement (at least not right away). We read your suggestions all the time, but sometimes those suggestions are not in line with the pillars of our game. Sometimes those suggestions are ill-informed. Sometimes those suggestions are selfish (buff x class “cuz it’s my fave and I want to roll over everyone”). Sometimes those suggestions are so great that it inspires us to add a new project to the backlog. Sometimes those suggestions are already a part of the project we are working on.

Most of the time, we can’t immediately implement good suggestions. These things take time and discussion. These things have to be weighed against other things and prioritized.

All of this doesn’t matter though, if the 4%-10% spends little to no time giving us feedback for one reason or another (inactive, don’t care, think we don’t listen even if that’s wrong, etc.).

Ideally, you would all feel comfortable and willing to share your objective feedback, but that is not always the case, and that is not something we can control.

Why should people spend time and give devs of feed back ? As I know it is should be done by players on test servers or by hired personal. Some guys don’t even speak english and but still playng PvP most of the time. To be honest this is a very poor balancing system.

Did I see it correctly, Necro with 25k hp will not have only 17-18k LifeForce?
Thats seems for me like a heavy survavobility nerf. plus all thous anti-condi skills ant tweaks dev made can push necro out of the game again and will be replaced by engi (again) since it got some nice buffes.

Rewards? Come on! If you want PvE stuff go do PvE. PvE loot doesn’t matter to hardcore PvPers.

1.) Changes in the some skill fundamentals.
-All skills should require LoS.
-Find ways to reward personal skill level in an appropriate manner such that personal skill is the primary determinant of success. i.e. in a 1v1 duel the more skilled player should win, not the one who has more luck/ more button spam build.
-Remove skill activation passively through traits. These include Warrior Last Stand, Defy pain and Engi Self-Regulating Defenses among others.
-Reduce amount of Utility skill options. Perhaps even reduce non-heal/elite utility slots from 3 to 2. Less variability = more balance.

2.) Reduce sources of Weakness and reduce ease of application.

3.) Improve post game analysis table with more stats such as damage done, healing done, damage received etc. Make Tables visible my all players and spectators.

4.) (This suggestion should be subject to through testing) Globally increase health pools, but at the same time dramatically increase the cooldowns of all Heal skills and reduce their effectiveness.

Rewards should be in every gamemode (PVE/WWW and PvP).
Rewards doesnt meen pve crap or more glory, but some gems would be nice. I dont see even rewarding killing someone in hotjoin of if i can the point. Atm most of it is pointless. Winning Tpvp wont give you nothing. Rank is nothing. And if you have no team you are mostly just wasing you time in pvp.

It doesnt matter what class you will chose now, since you will have to change it when you start a Team tpvp.
I will disagree with most ppl here about ranger(spirit), because it is passive play (mostly).
To play necro (terror build) you need knowledge of other classes, otherwise you will have bad times.

I assume you play’d PvE, so take class with mechanics which fits you better.

O-O, you don’t get it, do you? We never talk about the dams or being useful, look at the picture and please tell me who I am supposed to fight and how many players are in there? They are plain annoying and a pain to target his owner.

1.You are guard – not a really good fighter
2.it was 2v2 against classes/builds that are very powerful on 1vs1
3.You should fall back or if you was a fighter then ranger (standing on mid point), because he could res.

Okay, so I’m not here to really “defend” anything (for the record yes, I do play an MM Necro, but luckily that’s not the big hot-spot at the moment), I’m just curious as to why people get so upset over any class with AI or non-player controlled abilities? I’ll just explain why I feel this way so, please feel free to come back, just not aggressively, I’m not being aggressive, just offering a whole-hearted second side of the story, and a slightly different way to view the ones we have, which leads me to wonder why people are so against them.

AI-Abilities in a nut shell are:
Spirits – They’re much like sigils, which are just passive bonuses, except they require a long cast time (each) and have health/placement in exchange for being a better passive benefit. Ranger spirits are much like mobile shaman totems in WoW, and I can’t say that many people every complained about shaman totems, they were more of a hindrance than a benefit 9 times out of 10. (They don’t get 1 shot anymore, neither)

Spirit weapons – Already kittenty, so no one complains, so I’ll just lump these with minions.

Minions – Yes, they’re AI controlled damage. But look further, its a kitable, killable, totally CCable DoT that takes up the place of a utility and costs slots that could be CC breakers or better defensive utilities. Plus all AI-pets die in heavy aoe even to a single target, or are nulled my fancy terrain foot work. They require literally about 70-90% traits to be viable, and you feel like a traitless guardian/necro with them dead. And there’s no way to spot-avoid for them, even if you dodge, they just stand there and get hit by churnings (etc).

Phantasms – Here I can’t argue too much, most phantasms are garbage, but the 2 that stand out are Zerker and Duelist, Zerker is much like minions except it lungest to attack and stays further from combat, thus misses some AoE, but are generally easy to burst down in cleave. Duelist is the only one I can say needs toned down because its ranged, hits super hard and scales with stats, can’t be “kited” so, okay, I won’t argue, its not “fun” to play against.

So overall:
- AI Pets kitable/CCable/Glitchable/Killable/Aoeable dots that are pretty stupid that take up utilities, and generally only provide an issue against enemies in 1v1.
- Buffs/Aoe Buffs that require a cast time to have up, and that’s 1.5 per so most AI builds require a 3-6 second ramp up time of casting these abilities if they’re not ready at the start of the fight.
- Builds that require very heavy point allocation to make them viable, and are neigh useless once they AI is cleaved down.

The biggest fixes I see that need to be made are:
-Burning needs to do less damage. Those spirit rangers wouldn’t be so potent if they weren’t giving such a strong fire proc to all the condi builds in this condi-heavy meta.
-Tab targeting should “prefer” humans over AI.
-Players need to learn that you can turn off “Show all Enemies” and “Show all NPC Names”, and turn ON “Show all Players” and you won’t get all the name clutter from all the AI pets, and will only see the player’s name (This works against mesmers as well!)

I’ll be honest, as an MM I feel pretty weak right now in an aoe condi meta and CC meta, where most mm builds only have 1 really long CD CC break (if that), little to no AOE, no aoe buffs, and EXTREMELY weak to conditions, especially AOE conditions.

I don’t think its an AI issue, because spirit rangers aren’t using AI, they have attackable signets… It’s a matter of SOME stuff (like conditions) being too potent, and people not knowing how to properly handle multiple targets. Thoughts?

Dont know why ppl are qq about NPCs, only issue i have with minions is they path finding and state changing (it is still not fixed). How many times i was in situation where Minions just enjoy’d the texuters on the wall, while I was in fight. How many times Minions run to opponent and just looked at him, without even idea that he must be attacked… and so on.

What the point in having 3 clones, when you are clearly visible ?! I mean every mesmer will go dont in no time if ppl would see the real mesmer all the time (like when the clones had bug and were naked).

The worst case is, when provider is controlling router firewall.
Still dont think the problem is personal/router firewall, since it is letting packages till *in my case Frankfurth and then they are all lost. When I am traking path to NA server , Frankfurth is letting packages thru till washington and then they are lost. So it is logical that the problem is not user/pc/router, but Anet server.

Also it seems that whole support team is in NA. So EU players have to w8 whole day till reply.

If you saing ‘the game is too hard’ I have to think about PvE, where you can fall asleep while farming.
About PvP:
Every game ( that wants to be) in Esport is/should hard!
Look at other games and tell me they are simpler! NO thay are much much much harder then GW2. Here all you have to know is few classes, few maps, boons and conitions. That is pretty simple if you compare it to other games.

Spirit ranger and s/d thief are already ahead of necro. A necro doesnt avoid everything you do and then when they are gonna die they disengage and come back full health. Mesmer and ele have crazy dps. Like crazy dps which is very hard if not impossible to avoid. Warrior have berserker stance and stun lock/100 blades which is basically 10 seconds of god mode and an 8 second combo which melts everyone. Engis can RES THEMSELVES (wtf?!?) and perma swiftness and vigor. And they have an adept trait which spams burn on people as well as other condis. Then you have guardian which has crazy good team utility and is the class you kinda of have to bring.

There is a reason the best team specs have 5 different classes. It is because balance isnt that bad. Necro isnt that good. If it gets nerfed then they must nerf all the stuff I listed above which is EVERY other class.

Alright lets make a few things clear mesmer and elementalist dps is high, but right now their kill potential is no where near being as potent as necro.
I could go into detail regarding the matter; but I think that the subject has already been saturated.
If you fail to see how strong necro is in the current meta, then I doubt anything I could say would change your mind.

No doubt that Terror/Condi Necro is very better at killing as ele/mesmer. Still Necro are very bad at support team members.
Ele can support teams with combos, do good dmg AND be at sametime mobilty – Necro can is better at dps and fear opponents while they are stopming mates (if they have non stability)
Same with mesmer (not sure about combos, but teleport and moa morph is helping team a lot).

It is bad that ppl are looking only on killing possobilitys of the classes, while forgeting other things.

Power specs are punished with Protection/Retaliation and not enough ways to remove it. Conditions don’t proc retaliation and go through protection, and certain classes have tons of AoE spam conditions (which can even be made unblockable).

And…

Now condition meta.

When you are playng vs Power builds/ classes you are dodging the burst attacks, right ?!
Why can’t you learn to dodge heavy condi attacks ?! xD

Also Condis are making good AoE dmg, but less to a single dmg. So AoE condi skills is OK.

Solo and Team Arena look good from preview

For people who just missed it, the livestream preview was up just and now and showed the new Team and Solo Arena features. Also one dev confirmed that Solo is only solo (no duo), and Team Arena will essentially be the old system as it was, including the old leaderboards, with the addition of random map rotations. This means that Team Arena will also include duo queue as well as 3/4-man team queue, from what I understood. I just don’t understand how they would fill up a 4-man team if there’s no individual queue for Team Arena?

Also, the Wallet and Finishers are nice additions, even for us PvP’ers.

The point is genius that bunkers are MEANT to survive a 1v1 indefinitely and hold a 1v2 or more for a significant amount of time to deny a point. Traditional bunker bulids are just being destroyed by condi damage builds.

Bunker will die in 1vs1 fight agains condis and agains direct dmg.
Condi classes were always good for taking guard/bunker down faster as burst classes.

I see your point Cogbyrn, but the thing is that in sPvP a burst thief, or any burst build which relies on power / crit dmg / crit change to deal high damage, has no to little toughness and vitality. This means that if you survive the first attack and counter they can easily be defeated. But the thing is that since conditions gear also give you toughness, you can “condition burst” enemies while also beeing hard to kill. This applies to every condition build not just necros, its just that necros have more access to conditions and so have more to gain.

Hm…I am sorry, because you are speaking of some other thief class I know. Thieves have can go stealth and escape, so “after first burst its easy target” is fauls. Also thief has +100500 evades and highest mobility.
Easy to kill after burst ? – No ( of couse if thief is noob and dont know his limits yet)

Thats because Vit. is fot mitigation condi and direct dmg.

Except when someone specs heavily into vit hoping it will mitigate condition will just get hit with bigger numbers from direct damage builds. Which is why people usually only get toughness when speccing defensively and hoping they bring enough condi removal but right now noone can bring enough to keep up

You cant have everything in you spec! It will be OP bunker if he can prodect him self agains everything in the game!

If warrior will deal you dmg and you just run around and dont heal or use you any offensive/defensive skills, you will dye. Why do you excpect here diffrent.
Terror combo need a time to build up. Necro wont use it best offensive combo on target with low condis on them, its a waste.
What I want to say : if you dont remove condis or your condi removing skill is on CD (while you have lot condis on you) prepare stability or stun breaker!

To whoever that said condi spikes don’t exist, you are playing a different game.

It does exist, and at large.

It only exists in the terror+dhuumfire combination, and that is far from the 100% HP to 0 in 1.5s that you described and then deleted.
Realistically, ~2.5-3k DPS for 3 seconds is the most you can expect, and that is if your target doesn’t have a stun break or a condi clear.
Is that a lot? Yes. Everyone agrees about that. But conditions, as a whole, are neither OP, nor do they burst. Stop telling lies, I beg you.

3K dmg (not dps)! And it is not from burning + fear! So plz stop telling lies, also )

This post is complitly pointless. Players are choosing amulets for own game play and cover they weaknesses.
Since necro attacks are pretty slow,personally I run (if I am using Terrormancer) rampage amulet for more crit chances = oftenburning/bleeding/Reapers Precision(LF)

The whole condi situation is mostly because of burning. Pre necro buff, engi and ranger did the best condi dmg (they still do it good), mostly because they can spam burning. After patch when all QQ started and necro got burning, was because necro has condi burst by terror. Thats make sense because they could burst ppl in 1-3 secs. Now when necro got burning AND TERROR nerfed i dont think condis are sucha big problem.

I’ll skip a few things and bring out a thought. Lets take the Rabid Amulet as an example again:

Would passive methods of dps in general tone down if lets say Rabid Amulet’s stats went from:

569 + 75 Precision
569 + 75 Toughness
798 + 125 Condition Damage

into

569 + 75 Precision
569 + 75 Toughness
569 + 75 Condition Damage
15% + 5% Critical Damage

What would happen theoretically if part of the condition damage (Around 224 + 45 Condition Damage into 15% + 5% Critical Damage) became critical damage instead in an attempt to tone down passivity in sPvP? Would it kill certain builds or would this type of change be a step to the right direction in making certain condition builds more active IF it were to happen? Keep it clean.

Sorry if I seem persistent but I need a few people’s insight on possible changes. I’m not saying that these changes should happen but I think its about time that the community brain storms on things that can be tweaked without hurting PvE balancing.

Not sure about Engi/Ranger, but this amulet will make necro a lot stronger.

Could you please elaborate on how re-working rabids into (as an example) 20% critical damage less 259 condition damage makes specs such as condition necromancers stronger?

Simple, necro has 45% crit chance + 20% crit dmg, it will also deal over 1-2k pure dmg, without losing big amount of condi dmg. So this will make necro harder to kill. I run terror mancer mostly with rampage amulet, and i never suffer’d from low condi dmg.

fear counts as a condi (in fact anet can’t decide what it is, since it damages, traits and benefits from +duration runes like a condi and requires stun breaks like a stun).

also all staff marks can potentially trigger on-crit condis (bleed, burn). i would argue this is more important than the mark effects themselves

yes scepter #2 has a cast time it also has a range of 900 it’s not that hard to cast in the middle of a point.

never really had a problem getting into death shroud though i will earnestly admit i just don’t know a whole lot about the class

I was following you scenario. If team lets necro get in mid ofthe fight and escape from it – there is no way to help them.
Using staff 4-5 just to get burning or bleeding is the biggest waste. Do you even know what those skills are doing ?!

i’ve watched people play necro at the “highest ratings” and no it’s not what they do. it goes like this:

a) lay down every staff skill
b) enter DS hit #5 (? can’t remember) and #3, maybe the life drain one if you’re under pressure
c) hit every scepter skill
d) fin

Lets analyse your example:
To Staff skills be effective, necro needs Greater Marks, otherwise they can be blocked.
[20 trait points]
Stuff skills can be also evaded (also there is no point to spamm all marks at once, since only 2 of them have condis xD)
To enter DS necro need at least 10% LF.
Necro has LF from marks [20 trait points] or you let him to hit you with something when necro is pretty easy to kill.
If necro using ds#5 he is in mid of the fight, othewise its no use and skill can’t be precasted, so necro first has to come in mid fight and afterwards cast ds#5, what can be also be interupted!
So you have 2 options, or kill necro what will take 1-2 bursts , run take distance from him or let him immobolize you.
Hitting all scepter skills is also pointless, since 1 and 3 are single target and 2 is has a long casting time, what means it can be easily be dodged.
and yes, in this situation it is ‘fin’…‘fin’ for necro, because he will be dead!

All I can say, you have no idea what is necro and how it works.
