It’s perfectly viable. Get some condition damage gear and you’ll be set
I prefer Axe/Shield though but that’s me. I like the vulnerability attack.
I love my warriors. I started off as a Guardian, then rolled a Thief and have stuck with Warrior since it’s creation. There seems to be so much more build diversity and ways to play with a Warrior compared to my other two classes that it keeps me perpetually interested in it.
Are there things I’d like changed with the class? Sure. Who doesn’t want to change things (or even fix some bugs). But all in all I’m happy with the class design.
I use OH Axe purely for Adrenaline creation (The fury is nice but not needed). I don’t think any other weapon has a skill that works as well as that does.
Guardian is extremely strong. Although, I’d rather them bring other classes to their level rather than nerf my Guardian but balance is balance.
I still would have liked clarification on Wrath causing “Burning” as in the description or if that is just a typo Would kind of balance out the longer cooldown than.
Yeah. I Love this signet. It’s got a short cooldown, good buffs, and makes it feel useful.
Timewarp and Thieves Guild (Or Dagger STorm) are other great classes elites. I think the rest of the classes though after that are all pretty crappy.
@"Sword 4 has 1 bleed. Not the 4 as stated. You may as well go sword/axe to stack more bleeds (with 30 percent chance to bleed on crits + runes)."
I always was under the impression for the bleeds to stack with this ability was to leave the sword in the opponent. If you remove it you lose the stacking bleed and just get the damage component…
For single target, if you are staying ranged, Rifle >
For events, untraited Longbow is way to go if you want to tag a lot. Although, the Piercing Trait for Rifle is highly underrated, and actually pretty kitten awesome for both tagging and massive damage.
I personally like mixing the two, so in your case I’d do Valkyrie Trinkets.
Conditions don’t care about Toughness, so having more Vitality isn’t a bad thing. Unless you have the gear and trait enough ways to remove Conditions pretty consistently than it might be advantageous to just go straight Toughness.
I know there is Power/Vit/Tough gear , but I don’t think there are any trinkets that are those stats.
Not bad Melee wise.
I usually just throw on my Rifle and shoot him, Ranged can avoid everything he does :S

I’ve been running a condition damage (healing shout) warrior for awhile and do enjoy it, but wanted to try something with a bit more upfront damage and some more durability. Just kind of looking for advice on where I’m at and possible suggestion or improvements to this
Build: 0/25/25/20/0
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#ccR9ooRaNmoRaNm0ppG0caMsoR
Current gear is all rare:
Knight Armor with Soldier Run
Berserker Jewelry
Been using a GS with Axe/Shield Offhand (Or If I need more condition removal I’ll change my trait from shout cooldown to warhorn). I’ll swap out GS for a Rifle when the fight needs it.
It feels pretty good so far, at about 1700 toughness 1700 Power with 48% crit / 30% crit damage. Compared to my shout heal build having all this toughness doesn’t make the lack of heals even noticeable. (And obviously having more condition removal negates that entirely)
Wondering if there could be some tweaks I could make though, or perhaps a different weapon selection. Definitely open to advice to maximize my character.
*This is mainly PvE btw, not PvP. *
It’s the easiest way to get that type of Lodestone sadly…
Which means more Gold for the player and better upgrades eventually. Jormag offers terrible rewards for how risky the dragon is compared to other events.
There isn’t enough open areas for players to farm those or Tier 6 mats in general which is an issue.
I do not group a lot to be honest, I enjoy it that way. As far as being sociable I have my guild for that which I chat with consistently.
However, “out in the open” conversations are few and far between, and normally those are with somebody who happen to be in the same farming spot as me as we just kill everything and chat to lessen some of the tedium.
Map chat is a joke in most zones so unless it’s answering a question I usually have it turned off.
My dilemma, I have a set of Superior Rune Of The Soldier which I love. Now than, I have multiple sets of gear depending what role I want to play at the time and I seem to be having an issue using any other rune, or even an orb set up. I know Soldier is a slight DPS Loss, but staying alive longer = more dps or support (and really, some conditions are painful as hell).
So my question is, are there other Rune sets that are very strong for warrior as well? I tried looking but nothing really grabbed me as being as amazing.
Builds for any class depend how you want to do
1) Smash things while wearing paper
2) Offer “Heal” / Buff Support to your group
3) Watch things die from your conditions
4) Be sturdier and take a hit or two for the team
etc etc.
When you figure out which of those, or the others, you find fun, you can build a trait point allocation around it.
Picked up this dye and it looked pretty dark, learned it and it was in the Gray tab. Ended up being rather disappointed to find out it was brown….
The color in the hue tab, as well as the tooltip color does NOT reflect the color that is put on the armor swatches. (Which both armor itself and the piece swatches show brown)

I guess an easy way to test is aggro two risen brutes, since they have a knockdown and just checck if you get the debuff from the second. (since they’ll be near each other in attacks)
I looked at it as if you get knocked down, it activates to prevent the next knockdown. And according to the wiki at least it’s on a 90 second ICD.
I’d be curious to. Also how to actually check for that since when I get boons my attack on the character sheet doesn’t seem to increase at all. Not sure if it’s even working?
Signet builds are not terrible. The problem is, from my experience, most signet warriors I come across are terrible at avoiding mechanics and since they do not have the survivability of other builds (and they lack getting survivability gear) they die a lot. What’s a dodge?
I personally enjoy shout builds and general buffing/supporting of group. But that’s me.
I don’t mind the concept of contested waypoints, it just seems like sometimes you are just sitting there on your kitten waiting for the counter-event to start even though you can clearly kill any mob in the town.
I don’t think I’ve found a heart vendor that sells master salvage kits. I may have missed them though.
I know On Crit stuff messes it up (most share a cooldown) so maybe that’s it. I kind of assumed though since Sigil Of earth doesn’t have any ICD it wouldn’t have an affect on Geomancy but possible. Will have to try it with some dummy weapons later to verify I guess.
@Dray,
You know a way to get that working all the time? It seems to work like 1 out of 10 weapon swaps for me, not sure why it isn’t constant when it is off cooldown. I switched it out for Earth until I could figure out how to work it properly a week or so ago. ( I /bug reported it to)
@Panzen, I’m level 80.
Risen Brutes can still take longer than I’d want but they have more HP than most mobs out there, other things seem to just die though.
I found this kind of funny, but I detested any type of Underwater Combat on both my Guardian and Thief. Guardian was mildly not terrible with spear, but harpoon was atrocious. Thief, well, no real AOE skills make the aggro range that goes on there annoying as hell to play with.
Warrior though, no matter what zone I’m in, I feel very powerful underwater. Pull a bunch of mobs with the Harpoon and apply bleeds, switch to spear to Tsunami Slash and than Whirling Strike and things just melt.
Add in some frenzy just to make it more hilarious.
Definitely think every other classes underwater combat should be patterned after a Warrior’s.
So trying to craft some armor for my character, without touching the TP, which obviously means farming 90+ fine crafting ingredients.
My question is this if anybody knows, when the DR hits, is it character based or account based? Like could I have an Alt parked where I’m farming and carry on when I notice i’m not longer getting the things I need?
Not that I entirely mind moving to a different area to farm something different, but if i can avoid waypoint costs i’m all for it.
I always read these posts about wanting more “endgame”, but I fail to see people list actual “endgame” ideas, unless the only MMO Endgame people believe in is a gear grind.
I noticed when leveling Weaponsmith on my Alt, Vials of Blood were lower than any other mat, and obviously much lower than other tiers of Blood.
To be honest, I’m not sure why. Just questing and exploring I never really found a surplus of any fine ingredient if I didn’t farm them extensively. Be curious to know what is up with that.
Was looking to see what it would take to make an exotic greatsword in the forge and understand the 5x Blades/Hilts etc.
My question is though what determines what type of blade it is? Or is it random? Is there a way to guarantee crit damage or condition damage types?
So I hit 80 on my Warrior recently, and have been enjoying farming materials and other things needed for various weapons/armor for myself and alts.
I’ve been running a Precision based Condition build using Sword MH and Horn/Mace offhands, with Shout Heals (mainly though for the vitality in that tree).
It’s a lot of fun and durable, but feels a bit slow on the whole killing thing. Was curious, purely from a Solo perspective what would be a better build to go with. (Using Rampager’s right now but have no problems making a different set if it will help me with what I want).
:) Appreciate any insight.
Super Sigil of Golemancy
Inflict bleeding on nearby foes for 7 seconds when you swap to this weapon in combat. (Cooldown: 9 Seconds)
Not sure why, but sometimes it just doesn’t work when swapped to. Tried various time between swaps, terrain differences, Main Hand and Offhand, etc. Seems very very sporadic.
I love the quaggans as a race, I hate the voice they have.
I think Healing Signet is designed strictly to be more “casual friendly” for new players and such. Not having to manage another cooldown is worthwhile for some players, even if it isn’t the most beneficial way to go.
Yeah. On Sorrow’s Furnace today, I can’t finish Lornar’s Pass, Sparkly Fen, Blood-tide Coast, while leveling my Alt due to a single bugged skill point. I /bugged all of them previous to (Got lucky on a server reset on another character so they were all up).
This is beyond frustrating for me, it’s my really only gripe and makes me just want to log off when I see another 99% zone.
Saw this in another post (I can’t recall who had the idea), but why not make all the bugged skill points temporarily, Commune Skill points.
This will allow people to complete their zones with no frustration while the bugs in the actual skill point challenge is fixed.
Realistically, the skill challenges aren’t really a challenge anyway so it wouldn’t as a whole make the game play experience different.
The thought of not having the Trinity is inticing, as a Tank for the last 10 years+ of my MMO Play I was curious to see how this would pan out.
After this last month though I’m starting to miss having dedicated roles. The “Chaotic” combat is fun in events and leveling, but in Dungeons I find it an absolute annoyance and generally not very fun.
My problem with underwater Combat:
1.) Aggro Range – It’s far to high, on my Thief (who doesn’t have AOE skills) he can consistently get swarmed with 3+ mobs at a time (not to mention annoying baracudas and such) My guardian has a bit better AOE but it’s still not the same
2.) Attack is Boring – Most UW Combat is simply, 1 auto-attack until a cooldown comes up, most of the weapon cooldowns are useless, do little damage, do little utility, etc.
3.) Random Spike Damage – Some mobs do a TON of random damage without an indicator (Sharks can be pretty brutal in this department when they charge, I never see them back up or move first, just a huge chunk of health taken out).
Dunno. If damage for players was doubled it would probably fix a lot of things and make it more fun.
One I saw from another game when I went to use for a Ranger Alt in this one, and it was taken
Leggo My Eggolas (since well, anything with a bow has a bazillion legolas’s attached to it, i thought this was pretty funny first time I saw it)
Just curious, why not Axe/Axe to get the Vulnerable debuff/Eviscerate?
Or am I missing something from sword other than bleeds?
(edited by exphryl.3857)
He was using Caltrops in response to the question of what he does for AOE.
Also, last I checked, Caltrops wasn’t up indefinitely so single target range as the OP wants, having some extra snare isn’t a terrible thing.
I got DC’d, well about 10 minutes ago, when I got back in my character was rollbacked about an hour which annoyed me great >:S
Can’t tell if thread is about Thief being an overpowered Profession, or if OP is just a bad player.
About to hit 80 on my Thief and have been running a Condition build why leveling. (Yes I’m aware of some condition group limitations, but I enjoy the play-style).
Anyways I can’t seem to decide between these two sets, being a LW I can make both. Is losing that much crit going to be hurting me? (While I know Bleeds and such can’t crit, I do backstab and auto attack as well as Death Blossom’s initial hit which can all crit).
Or would you perhaps mix and match the two?
Curious what most condition thief builds usually steer too.
Chil,
I’ve been enjoying a Condition build lately myself (Switched over from S/P while leveling to do something different, currently 75).
How are you managing conditions put on you with that build? Just with Agility ?
I have two Human characters, after completing Queensdale, Completing Divinity’s Reach (You get above a level or level and a half doing the exploration here), doing my Story Quest until it took me to Kessex, gathering materials (I have another char was sending mats to so no crafting was done), and doing / triggering Dynamic Events I was above level 17 both times.
If you bee-line from Heart to Heart you’ll miss a lot, then will create posts showing your inability to properly explore.
+Healing works best for me, but I run signet of malice and assassin’s reward.
Eh?
How much healing do you get from that?
Just looking for some input here as I am leveling my thief and trying to figure out the best way to deal with Conditions.
I’m running S/P and SB for my weapons, currently only level 50 so obviously some room to grow and change traits.
At the moment it seems the only thing I have is Infiltrator’s Strike to remove one (which usually is not the one I want immediately removed). I also see a lot of late PvE 80 Builds without Condition Removal slot skills so I’m a bit confused
There certain traits that help with this or is it just casualty of playing a more damage orientated roll?
I can NOT die in 1vs1. No class or build can kill me 1vs1. Why should Anet make us immortal gods?
You must not PvP A lot than.
Besides, this thread was designed based on PvE issues, not a PvP one to begin with but people keep on spinning it towards that.
I just don’t understand why they gave up on Hearts in these zones I like doing those actually.
