I just dont think salvaging is affected by any modificators like magic find or DR. Just no reason for it, you (or another player) already won rng game when looted those items. No need to penalty you twice.
When we talk about drop rates we all know we can’t go back and play pre-november game and we can’t prove our words. Only devs can retreive it from code repository and test.
In same time ecto “DR”(?) is much easier to prove(ok, 35 gold to craft 100 items may be too expensive to many people). But nobody proved it. I think if this problem is exists, we can find at least one man who can find 35 gold to test it. May be i missed it, can you provide me with link?
I do “even” numbers to progress, so every 2nd day i go to fractal 1 lvl higher. Never disconnected. Never experienced any lag. Just for statistics.
Lets talk math. Today, average price of t5 craft fine is a bit over 2s 50c. That is 38 gold, just on fines, to create 100 items to net you your claimed 90 ecto. Ecto is priced at 38s each on TP today. You would lose money. If you include silk, threads, and cost of master salvage kits, you would lose a pretty good pile of money.

Still not enough info. Try to craft 100 yellow items of 80 lvl (light armor masks for example) and salvage them with most expensive kit from vendor. My experience? 12 level 80 rare loots since my char got to that level in early December. Easy to count, as I saved them to salvage. Black Lion Kit. 3 ectos.
The RNG hates me so much, that putting 4 Level 50 rare crafted chests into the Mystic Toilet gained me.. nothing? Everyone tells me “nothing” is impossible, yet, that is what I got.
Use trading post to buy mats. Since t5 mats, 80 lvl yellows and ecto are tied to each other – buying, crafting and salvaging it with good salvage kit (Master’s Salvage Kit) should not lead to money loss.

Please do your own tests before report. “17 ectos from unknown amount of items salvaged with unknown salvage kits” – not enough info to make conclusions, not even close.
Try and post here how many items salvaged, salvage kit used (i recommend Master’s Salvage Kit), ectos received.
Also had a huge drop in ecto’s from salvaging rares, most of the time now, zero ecto’s….ever since patch.
I’ve been saying this for a while, but I kept getting called a lier.
I got my first rare in days today, from a dragon chest of all places. I did manage to salvage an ecto from it.
To give you an idea of my “bad luck” I haven’t used ectos in about 2 months, instead saving them up every time I get one from salvaging a rare. In 2 months, I have managed to get 17 ecto’s from salvaging rares, 2 months, 17 ectos, rounding thats roughly 1 ecto every 3 and a half days. At this rate to get enough ectos for full set of exotic armour, jewels, and just 1 weapon will take me another 150 days (if my luck holds out).
Rare drops are extremely rare, and ecto salvage using BLSK is also rare.

Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
We’re in the midst of evaluating every loot table in the game and running massive random roll evaluations table by table, as well as evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.
Will update again when we have another round of concrete information.
Can you check some patches before mid november patch, please? I still think it could be some days before karka patch.

Patch notes clearly state “champions drop something”. In-game – they don’t drop anything sometimes (most of times tbh
). No need to build special tools to prove it.
New tools… It sounds like one man created a crypt algorithm and declered 1000 years to break it. Instead of analysing it, they decide to make a tool that will try to bruteforce it. I am sure, they will find solution a day before end of time.
Since they don’t plan to investigate the issue and build strange tools instead, i think they will not repair it until someone in arena.net will say “Stop this kitten and fix it NAO!”.

In two months you can rework loot system completely, not just investigate how it works step by step. I dont want to insult anyone, but two months! What should i think about theirs analytical abilities? Do you really think two months is not enough? I start to think that was an intended change and they don’t work at it at all.
Many people left the game already. I think about it too. I just don’t know what to do in game. I just login, do daylies and off again. I have all items i want except legendary (all gifts for it are ready). Btw, i got 3 different precursors from MF and it costed me >1000 yellows per. I got about 1 yellow from drop, and may be 1 from dragons chests last week. I can’t buy enough materials to craft and put them in MF (btw they said drop should be not worse than craft). How many years should i spend just to get precursor? I don’t think this goal worth my real life.

Seems arena thinks having no fun for two months in their game is ok and is not a problem. They have not enough data to make decision… TWO MONTHS kitten i lose my hopes in arena.net
I’m not really playing asura anymore for exactly this reason. The endgame is cosmetic gear but asura are so small it’s almost impossible for anyone else to see what you’re wearing.
I buy items for myself. I know what items i wear and it is more important to me.

Nope. Logic: we had better loot prior to november patches. 15 nov promised better loot (not even close). Conclusion: something went wrong.

This project was delayed in favor of having the specific folks required to build it skill-set wise working on solidifying the core of the game. You’ll hear more about our ecosystem in the future, but we’re not actively working on this project, in favor of making sure the core game itself is as fun and rewarding as possible.

Colin, you do realize that there has been a VERY talented and involved developer community drawn to GW2 and all you have to do is release the APIs to enable us to write this stuff? While I understand that any company looks first at how best to monetarise it’s assets, where the resources cannot be justified for development this is often an ideal opportunity to engage and empower your community…

Btw, you can make destroyer lodestones from cores, it will be cheaper a bit, but requires skill points.

No: there is not any similar problem, cause if you do at least 2 fractal runs you are sure to get a (random) Lodestone, so Lodestones have a big drop rate.
200 Gold are nothing more than the price of a Tier III outfit: ANet give you a precursor AND you ask them to increase the Lodestone drop rate or “lower their price”? You are a casual player.

I spent hundreds of rares since that.
Even if NOW lodestones are more available, it does not matter, arena must decrease grind time in the game. What if i want to make another legendary? If i want to level up 2-3 twinks and want them to look good (+ 2-3 legendaries), should i sacrifice my real life for it? I dont think so. Game must deliver fun to gamers. I dont care if everyone will run around with legendaries, i want mine because i want! It is why i play games! If game does not make me happy – i dont play it. Very simple.
How do you know it is not a bug? Are you a developer from arena.net? Or you just want so?

I know what happens here. It MUST not be so! Otherwise i quit playing thief until they buf him to warrior damage + armor + hp + 0 dmg abilites etc. It is nearly impossible to catch moments between animations. Some skills are designed to be useful anytime, like “steal” or teleport.
If my defence mechanic does not work on demand it puts me in disadvantage.
I think, they reworked stealth mechanic (no patch notes, of course, who ever interested in it?) but not tested it properly.

I really think GW2 will never be e-sport (or not in near future). I look at classes balance, i read what “casuals” (no offence) write in topics (especially about thieves) and what devs do with it. If they will not change direction from “satisfy casuals expectations”, game will become more “easy to learn” than “hard to master”. More faceroll, less improvisation – it is not what i want to see in competitive game.
Also, they make more arenas with randoms, it is not a challenge for serious players. Or they just want to test ours patience, how long we can endure theirs… emm… not smart moves.
Really? Are you kidding me? We have:
eles – best glass cannons + cc + survivability + escapes (unkillable)
guardians – best cc and survivabilty (unkillable)
warriors – best damage + cc + escapes + medium survivability
mesmers – very good BURST, incredible confusing abilities to just disappear from combat (almost unkillable if they want to)
Someone still complain about thieves. Guys, really, get some experience with every class before complain.

Since my two thoughts were deleted because someone thinks that was too rude. I will use simple words: delete this class – problem solved, nobody will whine anymore.
When thieves were just announced i thought “Wow! This class is designed for me, i like this game style.” I was happy to play as a thief in 1st beta week end. Two-three months of the game promised long good future. 5 months later… WoW i-can-only-click-1-button-a-second-players started to describe how bad their life is.
Seems gw2 will be another pvp game with stealth class nerfed under plinth. Nothing new. May be in next game we will have fun from playing this play style.

LoL. Why no escape? WHY? Because you want to, right? All classes have mechanics to be more strong. Why do you ask to nerf thieves mechanics? Because it is easier than learn to play your class or to train reaction?
At this moment – invisibility is the worst defence mechanic. Worse than heavy armor, “0 damage to me” abilities, infinite evades etc.
Stealth lasts too small amount of time thieves receive all damage all this period, unless they used dodge just after going into stealth. But they can evade attacks same way without going into stealth.
To make stealth viable def mechanic, arena.net must increase time of stealth and break every channeling skill. You whine about nerf? huh? Try to play thief first. And no, your kill another noob with 2-2-2-2 i will not count as proof.
I tried all classes and thieves are easiest enemies. Especially when they think 2-2-2-2-2 is a great idea.
But to be honest, they must rework many thief skills, because (LOL) 2-2-2-2 is really one of the best tactics. It was designed to 2-2-2-2 only, others skills do not work well. I want more usable skills! 4-5 almost not usable in serious combat.
Every class has great combos and sinergy of skills like charge+control+burst, they dont need to spam one button, because they have other great skills! Only thieves having initiative are cursed to use 2-2-2-2-2 only. Evade two attacks and kill him easy with one burst. I give you this idea for free. It works for me and may be will work for you unless you use your skills with mouse clicks.

Guardian “pull” pulls me (in stealth) too.
Roll for initiative has 0.5-1 second lag before it breaks stun. While berserk thieves or warriors can 100% > 10% in a second, it is absolutely not acceptable.
Stealth should be ultimate survival ability, not just uselss smoking effect. Or give thieves more tougness/vitality. At this moment, thieves is the less fun and most difficult class in game.
I tried to play condition pistol thief today and it is absolutely annoying. I got more stress than pleasure.

I am experiencing troubles with this event too. When they start to gather water and mobs start to spawn, these trolls try to suicide, they run into AOE and die :-/

I want more Tower Defence type maps and not only all together against mobs, but with some sort of competition between players. And be rewarded for better stats! I loved many SC2/War3 tower defence maps and played them hundreds of times.
Another type of map i want to see is – footmen wars.
And please, leave them in game forever, not only for events. I really miss other types of arenas like JQ or FA from GW1.
Just let people choose what type of map they want to play (with or against other players). “Everything has a place in the Eternal Alchemy!” ©

You OBVIOUSLY changed the drop rate from the
icebrood elementals and more specifically the minor icebrood elementals drop nothing anymore, ever. 60 minors killed 0 drops of any kind.Vicious claws drop rate from greater elementals also seen massive reduction.

It is impossible to assess such things. If you want to compare something, put it in same categories and define all variables.
So how short is this from what is expected? Is this a terribad result? If this is not acceptable what would be an acceptable result from 3 hours of open PvE play not counting events, hearts and the other currencies?
I expect not less than 1g per hour. This time you can have 1.5s from each mithril node, 7.5s from each orichalcum node. It is more profitable to harvest everything around than kill mobs.
