it’s just 3 gold and 5 laurels to learn the recipe, around 60 gold to make the weapon (less if you make the daily mats, i bought most of the mats and it cost me 60 gold for Grizzlemouth + stat swap). It is cheaper by a few gold to make the yassith’s one directly if you have the fulgrite and the inscription learned via auric basic merchant.

The thing to keep in mind is all of this applies AT THIS TIME. There are regular balance updates, usually around 4 times a year, that usually have significant changes on what classes are Meta at any given time.

idk the balance patches feel kinda meh for the duration that you have to wait, most of the stuff are a few seconds of CD less in specific modes.

it’s not intended, they are “investigating” it, god knows how many more months it’ll take for them to fix it, better to accept your loss and farm the bitterfrost frontier backpack. It would be lovely for once if they released stuff that worked properly.

if people weren’t selling their leather from the leather farm the prices should still be going down as those who were going off to farm would no longer be needing to buy their leather from the TP, hence a drop in demand and lower prices, clearly that is not the case (for now anyway).

I heard necro is good in wvw (based on all the crying for an epidemic nerf), but for roaming necro struggles, due to poor mobility and sustain (I would guess, I don’t actually play wvw).
Open world PVE, necro is fine here, most are anyway but necro is even more so as it’s very survivable and has pets to take aggro for you.
Fractals, necro is also good here, I’ve prevented quite a few PUG wipes with my necro (mostly in nightmare fractal).
Raids, whilst you can do raids with necro and the new benchmark for necro is decent, they are still not taken (for now…).

I wanted to again sincerely thank everyone that has helped me and offered advice. In 28+ hours I have gone from level one to 40 and learned a lot by playing a different profession.

I now understand the difference between Power and Condi, I have learned to dodge by running around and attacking (not just rolling), I also learned about strafing, have gotten better (still not great but better) at JPs and there are other things. I am able to apply what I’ve learned to my Mesmer when I do dailies and die a lot less.

I realize that (for me) learning to play Guild Wars 2 well will take time. I am looking forward to trying the other 7 professions and have already created characters for them (to hold the names).

Repeat the first story step of episode 2 if you can’t see the waypoints to get there, then just get the portal scroll, its like 1000 unbound magic and has infinite uses.
(If I’m being honest I don’t really understand the problem here…)

it would make some sense to use the boost on the necro as it is one of the more easier classes, however it is also easy to level as a necro, thanks to your survivability.

just use the normal scepter/dagger and warhorn build, this was the build before GS was a thing in condi builds.

Is it true that when I need or want to do a fractal or dungeon, Necromancer is the least wanted class and often booted from groups? I’m enjoying Necromancer, will probably never PvP or WvW unless I get really good, but want to eventually do most everything else. By the time I level a Warrior, Ranger or Guardian to elite, I know there is the slim possibility that Necromancer will get buffs and the others get nerfed. Should I stop leveling my Necromancer (level 28) and play a class that will be more welcome in fractals or dungeons? it’s raids where necro’s aren’t taken, everywhere else and you are good to go.
Just know the mechanics and don’t get others killed, no reason to be kicked from fractals or dungeons if you follow that.

Oh very much so, you can pretty much survive things that would normally 1 shot any other class, reaper shroud can come in clutch, you can use it when under CC or falling and you only take 50% damage when in that mode. Minions aren’t used in fractals ,well apart from flesh golem for his break bar damage, though in open world pve anything works, but like I said necro’s are quite “forgiving”, you can live through mistakes that would normally kill you, in raids however your damage is too low to make the cut, cons of living longer I guess.

Staff isn’t really used in pve for necro, it has long cooldowns and don’t do very much damage, try a greatsword for a power build (well I see that it’s also being used in condi builds too) and for fractals try scepter/dagger & warhorn (for a condi build that is). Open world you can use w.e you want.

yup, I’ve yet to even do 1 part of the ep 1, but I finished farming bloodstone fen.

As long as you have HoT (might also require you having that particular chapter unlocked, too, though), you can just walk into Bitterfrost from Frostgorge. Ember Bay and Bloodstone Fen aren’t directly connected to another map, and so you have to do the story or buy the portal scroll to enter those maps. But some people do claim that they can teleport to friend to get to those places; I’ve not tried myself.

I’m not sure if that’s the case, the portal to bitterfrost from frostgorge only opens once you complete “journey to bitterfrost” (the second part of ls3 ep 2) on one character, then yes any other character on your account can walk in without doing the story.

I’ve never tried tping to bitterfrost, the message I got when I tp’ed to ember bay was something like “unlock this episode to have access”, but definitely try to tp there first.

I beleive it was like 100 unbound magic for 1 shard, so just get one of those farming tools that give unbound magic when you use them, farm winter berries on all ur characters and eat them. Move on to lake Doric and do the same, should be like 100 or more, ember bay and blood stone is also there once you are done.

I heard the current “meta” build is everything vipers except a sinister backpack.
Scepter/dagger + gs is used, should be okay for fractals but ur dps wont be that high without the ice field.

you can get a full set and backpack from LS3 maps , some maps give their share of the trinkets faster (lake doric/bitterfrost), ember bay is also quite good, but bloodstone fen is somewhat time consuming.

I’m only at t2, but I can do everything up to there comfortably with a full set of vipers, I heard power is also effective, but condi is generally better in boss encounters.

get ascended trinkets and backpack from season 3 maps, you can get an ascended weapon by doing the current event, fairly straightforward stuff (though you only get to choose from 5 different types, so depending on what is meta for DH this may not help you). Attune the rings (fairly cheap), once that’s done get some agony infusions, use them on the trinkets/bp/weapon along with a 10 agony resistance potion (15 if you have the fractal mastery, which you should get, both for extra gold and buffs), and you should be able to do t2 fractals, doing the t2 fractal dailies can give you free ascended gear, tho don’t rely on this ofc, the chances are quite small (around 2% I think)

In the meantime farm up some gold and craft asc gear, craft the cheapest set you can find (ferratus stat gear is quite cheap, there might be cheaper ones) then change the stats to whatever you want at the mystic forge for a small price, this is cheaper than crafting directly the stats you want. You should also start crafting the time-gated materials asap (you can buy the item made using these mats on the TP, but crafting is cheaper).

Daily tequatl also has a chance to give you an ascended weapon box

ok I guess i’ll just change my backpack to sinister when I infuse it (hopefully anet fixes the bug that doesn’t allow infusion soon…)

When i did some testings with almost full vipers and malice i hit 30k with realistic buff without the 150 buff from engi. The reason i prefer this over thorns or with agony sigil is simply u often have other fields. So still hitting the same dps or doin even a little more while losing less on other combofields is the reason here. I might do a vid of it once i figured out what the best util is on that one to use and found an engi to do so.

Oh, what do you mean by that?
I was under the impression that most raids demanded you link them Gear and L.I. I was told that ascended gear is minimum requirement. Sorry if it seems like a obvious question I’ve only decided to raid recently, I’m still predominantly a pvp/ wvw player.

if u did what I said you can get 2 rings from bitterfrost, but they are both the “same” ring, so you can’t attune and infuse both of them due to the unique nature of asc trinkets, so the max number of infusion slots you get is 17 with this strategy, so I was saying once you do get full ascended gear and start raiding you can substitute one of the rings to get the max 18 infusions which saves you a bit of gold (not much I think), but in the mean time you get full asc viper trinkets.

bitterfrost frontier can give you a ring (2 rings if you attune one) and one accessory (also a backpack but you got 1 already), you can get the last accessory from ranked PVP, which starts soon.

just nerf it in WvW only, epi is one of the few saving graces of necro in pve…

if you already had 100% bleed duration what would u put in place of agony? I’m using hydromancy atm (with the bleed trait too ofc), is geomancy better?

Can probably go a bit higher with practice, the rotation isn’t flawless, might have to drop dagger 5 below 50% to make up for having to cast cpc with the 2nd Gravedigger.

ty for the replies but I’ve already got enough points by doing the ones I could solo, was just talking about the few I encountered that I couldn’t solo.

I was looking more into the hero points stuff in the HoT map, whilst I can solo some of the boss ones there are a couple in each map that are just impossible to solo and with the lack of players you can’t really do much…

The new patch also released some current events, which give you at least 1 asc weapon. You can choose from a GS, sword, scepter, dagger and shield. As necro you can use 3 of them and you can also chose any stat combination on them. At least, I’m guessing thats what he means.

It doesn’t really cost anything to complete it, and the weapon you choose can be changed to any of the other ones for only 1k unbound magic. So if you had a berserker’s sword you can actually turn into a vipers scepter, for only 1k unbound magic.

Despite of the name, there are no time limits on Current Event achievements.

ah I see, well I have a lot of free time now I thought the HoT story stuff would take me at least a few days, but I’ve done it in one and now I have to wait a week for my vision crystal >.<

GS was probably intended as a pve weapon, I mean something that slow with the need for close range on an already immobile class was never going to work very well in pvp

I had more trouble with that fat dude in episode 4 of ls3, mostly coz I didn’t know wtf was going on. I went in to the fight in a full set of Armour, came out butt naked, but then again I’m using a necro…

I just finished HoT, it went smoothly, I didn’t get any mail but when I checked the npc at the grove she had a green star above her, and then I just carried on with the quest from there. So you don’t need to wait for the reset.

I hear this sort of things happens often with new trinkets, sounds pretty sloppy…
