Go back to wow, then. Enjoy the phone app game play where you log in, click some buttons in your garrison, log off, and then go play other things until the daily reset. I guess you can ‘raid’ but that is just an endlessly infinite treadmill that never ever stops; if you take a break, you will get left so far behind no one will want to play with you. Then there is the community….it’s so toxic it’s absurb.

W/e. I guess some think that’s awesome but after 10 years I really think it’s just…pointless especially since you have to pay 15 a month for that. No ty, I am done with wow forever.

Anyways, ya gw2 needs some higher difficulty stuff but it still needs content casuals/less than hardcores can enjoy. Wildstar of recent went for you ‘hardcores’ in it’s game design and look how well that went! So well, it’s going f2p and GW2 people will be paying for that mistake with the HoT price lol. Careful what you wish for imo.

Hum, well there is lots of restrictions now on new accounts. I guess they did many these to combat botters/rmt’ers…but for new player it is frustrating. But many you would not know that b/c you are lvl 80 and long since have things unlocked. Like being able to mail, use banks, etc which once unlocked apply to account but if you don’t have em unlocked it sucks and turns new players away. Already had this happen with some people I lured here, it’s so…restricting. It wasn’t like this when I started to play at launch, that’s for sure.

A lot of people agree with the new downscaling. For them it added a challenge. Now you kill things in 3 secs instead of 2 with your downscaled lvl 80. However your lowbie toon in masterwork still kill things in 2 secs.

Or in my newbie warriors case…kill every thing with one button press, maybe two if it’s a vet…she wears white items I bought from a common vendor lol. But maybe it’s just because warrior is the god class of GW2 so maybe that’s it.

With a pre-exisiting 80 with account wide unlocks…new system is ok I guess.

But on a fresh account, all these changes leads to much much frustration and makes the game pretty unfun to play. I mean before you get to level ten and start dishing out points…now you gotta get to lvl 21 for that to happen; that is a looooong time to go before you are allowed to customize your char imo.

I hang in rata sum most time since bank and vendor is a few feet from each other; the black lion trader is also a very short distance away. If I want to craft…well, not found a good convenient spot yet like old LA so I dunno about that yet. I also head to DR as well if that is a closer way point since that too has convenient locations for most essential NPCs.

LA looks like disney land to me, all they need is to add mickey mouse/goofy/etc NPCs and it will look just like it. Also, all the essential npcs are spread out miles apart; it feels like a marathon to get anything done. Do not like. LA to me was always charming since it was a gritty port city and now it’s like going to a theme park; feels out of place with every thing else in the game but that’s just my opinion.

Here’s hoping it gets leveled again soon.

Way over tuned….only beat teq once since patch after 7 different tries with 2 seconds left on the clock. All this effort for a lousy spoon, which btw is all I have ever gotten after 3 months of killin it daily. At this time, unless things change…there is no point to do teq imo. I guess it will become like TT which I have never ever seen killed, most people simply won’t bother since it’s a waste of time. Server A stomps server B/C.

This goes on for a few months.

And then players from B/C get frustrated so they pay 20 bucks to move to server A.

Servers B/C drop like a rock to the bottom of the list and who ever is still on them are SoL if they want to enjoy WvW.

Rinse repeat.

Team stacking for the WIN! Literally.

Well not that Anet cares, they profit big time over this so I expect they will go to even more lengths to encourage this.

Can we get free xfers?

in WvW

Posted by: fixit.7189

fixit.7189

My server was once in top three….now it’s at the bottom and dead. And I have to pay a ransom of 300+ gold or 20 bucks to move to a server that actually has people playing…only to have people/large guilds suddenly move over night. For instance, back when my server was hopping there was 1-2 large oceanic guilds so we had a night crew but NOT as large as the other oppositions night crew so what did those guilds/players do? They all paid the transfer fee and moved to the one that was winning. Right after these guys went, several large NA crews did the same thing. GG.

Here’s the thing, so i do happen to pay the ransom and move….what happens when the server I go to falls out of favour? Oh right, same deal that happened to my once great but now dead server.

Transfer fees were put in to discourage this but it hasn’t at all, if a guild and their hangers on decide to move…they do it, all them. This leaves whatever server they left to become dead.

Anyways, I used to absolutely love playing WvW but due to the drop of a hat transitory nature of the players here…I don’t no more. All I want to do is play WvW like how it was meant to play: map cap vs map cap instead of lil ol me vs 100+ players alone. Is that too much to ask for? So if not, can I have a free transfer pls? I am not going to drop 20 bucks every time a guild and their band wagoners get kitteny. :S

All I can say is that researching a server is pointless, you never know when a server will fall out of favour and be vacated. I seen it happen TWO times now so I am not playing WvW no more and that to me is disappointing.

Solution is either merge servers, free transfers, or give some sorta mercenary option (not eotm) for mist war. But I guess this won’t happen cus anet is banking on people paying the transfer ransom. Sorry, I won’t be paying that. 300 g to me is a month+ of grinding like a dog and 20 bucks? I rather spend that 20 on silly cash shop kitten instead.

New trait system Good or bad?

I liked being able to go say 5/6/0/0/2 type builds. Now it’s 6/6/6. No choice to mix and match and that sucks.

Sorry but your trait example isn’t really a good one (not being mean) seeing as you used 3 trait lines before and now can use 3 trait lines again. If it was the old way you would just run 6/6/0/0/6. Seeing the difference? You actually get more out of your build this way.

Yes certainly an attraction where dps was increased substantially but on other hand there is some trait lines that no one will spec now like say thief acrobatics. Not that people specced into that line pre-patch anyways but now there is no reason at all with stat removal. Now, gear determines every thing thus I feel there is less of a choice now.

W/e, I will adapt and hope this elite thing opens more variety…

New trait system Good or bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

fixit.7189

What is not so nice is fact that build diversity for some classes took a major hit where there is clear cut winners in the specialization areas. ie thief acrobatics; no one is gonna trait that since it’s pure garbage. Only redeeming feature of that particular line pre-patch was the stat increase for choosing lines but that is now entirely gone. I liked being able to go say 5/6/0/0/2 type builds. Now it’s 6/6/6. No choice to mix and match and that sucks. Also removal of stats from traits means we are now all gear now, just like wow; not really a fan of that.

I gotta spend 900g and 4 months of waiting to gear up my other char but I don’t think I will bother; stick with the one I did ascend and ignore the other I guess.

Lastly, on the plus side I do like that my one char that is geared gained min 30% extra dmg this patch and I am doing some absurb DPS which is nice but that will more than likely get nerfed lol.

I only pve with my ele so yea. Running 6 water, 6 arcane, and 6 earth with p/t/heals gear. I have 3 staffs with different sigils depending…usually run energy/+10 heal power per kill if in a zerg. Basically I just chain drop aoes and switch eles constantly while kiting/tanking tons of mobs since due to my high toughness…they are automatically attracted to me lol. Essentially trying my very best to do a bit of dps, survive, heal people, and drop as many boons as I can on people around me. Definetly not a normal way to play, that is for sure lol. I was worried that my boon duration would be quite nerfed and it is in a way but I can still maintain 1 minute and 40 second swiftness so that’s ok I guess lol. Might try this in wvw later.

On that note if I am in water, I can go afk with a mob or two beating on me; soothing mist will keep up. It’s a bit amusing how tanky I am now ha. Then again, my dps is just dismal so I find it rather difficult getting loot, exp, and credit to events. Boo dps heavy credit system!

Win is for people who pay 50 bucks, instead of having to buy 10 dollars more for a slot…they now get one for free so essentially they are paying 40 bucks instead of 60 now.

I bought ultimate and the reason is simple…

Basic had no char slot so I would have to pay 10 bucks more to play the new class.

Delux does but has no gems, only fluff items that if were able to be sold on BLC; it would cost 1 silver total, maybe 2. Clearly the worst choice and even more so now.

Then Ultimate came with a char slot, 4k gems, and the fluff junk. In essence it was 110 worth of value for 100 bucks. This is reason why I bought the ult so save a bit a money b/c of that slot.

Now all vets, any version get a free slot. Some want that slot but a bunch of us did not ask for it. :S

All I want is that ult char slot to be exhanged for 800 gems. There really is no downside to this at all for anet to allow me the choice! And most certainly has no effect on people buying the basic version so I am confused why they are against this other than to argue/make fun of ult buyers.

So basically you can buy basic, buy 4k gems, and pay 90 bucks! Ten less than ultimate, the fluff items like I said are worth nothing. Only decent perk is beta weekend access but that in itself is pretty lame; yet another game that makes you pay money to beta test. I really am not a fan of being tricked like this but that’s just me.

Whatever, it’s done…i should have simply waited instead of pre-ordering right away since clearly the ultimate is not worth the price now. If this was apparent from the get go with vet free slot then I wouldn’t even be here writing this! :S

It’s a nice gesture for vets for sure but I feel disappointed since I made the mistake of buying the ultimate package because the basic did not get a char slot and the ult did. This is the only reason why I bought the ult in the first place!

Now I will get 2 slots which is nice for some but personally I don’t need it; if I had known this before hand, I would have only purchased the basic and saved 10 bucks instead. I do NOT need mules. I have three and all they hold is worthless ascended junk that I get by the 1000s every week. I will not be using that slot, sorry.

In the future, please iron out your pre-order plans and stop misleading some of us with mis-information before you start taking our money. Thanks.

Now, given that the ultimate edition is $100 and includes all the items you wanted plus more, I’m not seeing where the basis of your complaint is. You’re arguing that ANet has given you excess value for the same price, and you want less? I’m not sure where you’re getting the $10 savings from.

Base game originally came with no extra char slot, now it does. So 50 dollars then another 10 to buy a slot play the new character if all your current ones are filled and then 50 for 4k gems which is 110 bucks. So I went for ultimate that came with a char slot and 4k gems which totall 100. So now since I am a vet, I get TWO slots; the one I wanted b/c it was one of two versions that had them and now the one I don’t want. If I could sell that slot I would, it’s going to be unused thus in long run I should have waited for Anet to buckle and bought standard instead. DOH!

If they had vet slots announced during or before taking my money, this would all be moot; I would have bought standard instead for sure. I am not sure how anyone can support misleading advertising but w/e, people are like that I guess.

I don’t think it’s saying that the Ultimate lost value. It’s saying that in comparision it’s no longer as attractive. Previous to the update if you wanted a character slot you only had Deluxe or Ultimate. Ultimate was the clear winner in value since it has $50 of gems at a $25 price difference.

The problem is that now that the Basic version has a character slot and is an option, if you’re not interested in fluff/a second free slot/gems, then maybe you would have purchased differently.

What version of game are you playing? 50 bucks for basic + it costs 50 bucks in store for 4k gems which = 100 bucks. Which happens to be the cost of ultimate. So where exactly is this 50% savings on gems b/c I certainly am not seeing it. Explain.

You got an extra character slot worth $10 free, unexpectedly. That’s hardly losing value, unless you’re the sort that complains whenever you get free items after you purchase something. (I bet this character trait makes birthdays and Christmas interesting at your house).

However this thread confirms me in my opinion that the OP deliberately makes threads because they are controversial, not because he actually believes what he is saying.

I bestow upon Smooth Penguin the forum title, More Heat Than Light, in his tireless efforts to make fluff threads with a high controversy to low content ratio.

OP has stated repeatedly that he did not ask for that slot and that him, like some others only bought ultimate FOR that slot + gems. You all seem to think we are hating on basic getting the slot…NO we are not, we are extremely happy you are getting a great deal now but what about delux/ultimate. Take that 2nd free slot and give me 800 gems instead thanks.

The claim by Smooth that his purchase has lost value when only a few days ago he was talking about how it was the best deal available makes me think he is not serious. He got something worth $10, unexpectedly. FOR FREE. And he says it makes what he has less valuable? That doesn’t make sense at all. Sure, you could wish that a company could give you a different gift than what you got, but declaring what you bought is worth less because you got more???

ANet fixed a marketing mistake. Now fixing it isn’t going to make everyone happy but it certainly doesn’t devalue what you got if you get more.

I get a 2nd slot I did not ask for nor do I want so it has ZERO value to me. I only wanted one slot, that is WHY I got ultimate b/c basic did not HAVE it. Is it that hard to understand.

All get from you is “Hahaha, you got ripped off and I find that hilarious” vibe so I am done bothering. I will soak my loss and move on if I can’t get a refund.

Someone’s gotta get the short end of the stick and I guess it’s the deluxe/ultimate purchasers like me now. I don’t need that extra slot, one from ulitmate was all that I needed and primary reason why I decided to pay more.

What I don’t get is how people are saying ultimate gives 50% off gems but that makes no sense….it’s 50 for HoT basic and 50 for 4k gems in the BLC so that’s 100 bucks. The only ‘extras’ have no worth, at all so please explain since I seem to be missing something.

Anyways, so anet wants us to now put in refunds since basic is now the best deal. I am happy vet/basic version buyers are getting that char slot…truely I am but for rest who spent a lot of money on delux/ulitimate need considerations as well.

p.s. this might surprise some you but not all of us are ‘altohalics’; I stick to 1-2 chars that I enjoy in most games I have played. That extra slot will be nothing more than a mule, not that I need it since there is no need. I will simply ask that the ‘extra’ char slot perk for delux/ultimate is replaced by 800 gems and let us decide what to use them on. Is that not a reasonable request?

Brilliant logic.

Well why not? Saving 10 bucks is saving 10 bucks, that’s what made it attractive; it’s the whole reason why I plunked down 130 bucks in the first place. I really don’t want to go after a legendary or ascended item but I have to since is is statistically better and 10% is actually quite big increase imo…must have items…weapons are going to be a factor no matter what from what I see. If you only have exotics, I will be inferior to ones who have legs/ascended.

Anyways, guess I save them for now…

Underwater Ele: Damage coeffs off?

Really really hated playing under water as an ele but durin SS I had to so I could farm sharks….

Trick is all in combos.

If you don’t use em, dps is absoulutely terrible but if you do it’s pretty good. Still won’t beat rangers/engies but still decent.

One thing that bothers me is that EA does not work under water which has to be a bug…

Still doubt I will be able to solo other players with a staff so D/D still for that but these changes might mean I can tag a few mobs in large PvE zerg events finally.

I spent 30 bucks on rich coffers and opened 120g+ worth of reg boxes to get ONE staff skin which upon equipping I found I really disliked how it looked on my char. Jokes on me.

Anyways, never had a precursor drop and never will. That is just how my luck is. Make them attainable by a long grind…fine. But entirely based on RNG? I will never get a drop if so.

If a MMO allows me to work towards a goal and is not entirely reliant on RNG: I will happily climb that mountain and possible enjoy doing so.

But if it’s RNG based, I will never ever win. It’s been like that for over 30 years now.

It’s one reasons why I played that other large MMO for 7 years; sure drops where RNG but they always eventually dropped and since I raided hardcore…I usually had the DKP to snatch an item every so often.

But in GW2, it’s all RNG. Anything good that comes along is always to do with luck rather than hard work. I really dislike it personally. It’s even worse when they tie this stuff into CS junk like SS/DB boxes which btw I spent a ton of money and never get anything good too.

p.s. this whole gambling route leads to addiction and addiction to gambling is not something I want to see promoted in a game we are supposed to play for fun….

Save laurels?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I have heard them say that they intend to release more Ascended gear at some point including weapons which will (along with legendarys) have greater stats/dmg than exotics. They are after vertical progression (and gem sales) after all so yea…

I would be perfectly happy to not bother…but alas I don’t want to fight other players only to think “Well I lost because he has a legendary or Ascended weapon and they do more damage”. This happened in WoW regularly so I always had to get on that horrible gear treadmill and reason why I went with GW2 which was great but obviously the manifesto was abandoned so not much I can do about it.

Anyways since I will never step into a fractal, I am not in a guild, and only way I can get better gear is from laurels that takes months on end to save enough to buy just one item….so should I save laurels or spend now and buy a few rings…?

Grrr…45 rich coffers; no ticket or wings.

And 3.5k regular coffers now; no ticket or wings.

But this is not suprising, I have NEVER received rare items from any of these RNG events; it seems my chance of getting this stuff = zero. sigh…

35 riches = lots of candy, 2 potions, 6 foods, and 1 pet….these boxes are out right rip offs imo.

Over 2k regular coffers = lots of candy, 5 potions, 24 foods, 6 pets…

Due to never getting lucky in any RNG to this date including this event, I have come to the solid conclusion that I will never ever ever get these tickets. Sad too, all I want is the staff which is the first model I actually like. And to think I have to win this lottery 2 more times for daggers.

Well, it won’t happen I guess.

Should I now skip eating food for a week in order to buy some more boxes then? Lookin like it.
