I play an ele. At worst, a bunker power/healin/toughness staff ele. Even worse is I prefer to play solo.
So subsequently I have an extremely difficult time tagging mobs if there is more than just me in the area.
All my dmg has a long time to actually happen so usually even before my fireball and or lava pool even ticks: stuff is dead. It’s even more annoying with these new events which one auto attack from a melee camper nukes it all down.
Only way I can ‘farm’ is to get up at 4 in the morning and hopefully find one these nodes that is not camped by warriors/guardians/insert classes with instantaneous AoE dmg attacks as they auto swing to loots galore.
Also it takes on average THREE fireballs for me to tag stuff to get loots/exp. Under assumption the dmg needed to tag is roughly 1500 dmg on a regular mob and even more on elite+.
I don’t want to leech but I also like to have the actual ability to tag a mob.
Not sure if this is just a problem with the tagging system or my preferred build is a total waste of time.
Came back after a couple month vacation…to notice that every single mob there pretty much chain knock downs/pulls/ccs. It’s really annoying.
Suppose that might be why people avoid the place like the plague.
Perhaps they went a wee bit over board on the mob buffs, yes?
I play the wrong way….full clerics 10 earth/ 30 water/ 30 arcane staff ele with two armor sets I swap between: one set dwayna and other is guardian. Used to be serker and PVT but I kinda got tired of getting downed all the time. Guess I can sum it up like this: can’t dps while dead (as my old raid leader used to say).
Let’s just say, I have played healing/support/survival builds in almost every single MMO I have been apart of for over 20 years now. Old habits die hard.
Anyways, no worries to dungeon elitists: I don’t plan on ruining your runs. I won’t be stepping into one unless some sort of real in game LFG is introduced. Even then…

Story was well…boring and uninteresting. Very poorly executed, all in all. The level of story telling here was not even near FF level. /disappointed.
The instance was cheap, short, and also quite boring. I hear that one guy made it and that is quite apparent.
End event with box really aint worth the hassle and I expect people will more than likely just pass on this: there is far easier world bosses to farm with absolutely no risk of death.
The instigator, on the other hand, was loot heaven and I could happily grind away, getting loots/karma/and money with none that diminishing returns kitten wrecking everything. WTB MORE OF THAT. /standing ovation
And as to RNG boxes, well they suck. No more of that PLEASE; I am one the few that has farmed there excessively and not gotten a SINGLE miny or ticket. /bigfrownyface
If 200% mf sticks around forever, then SS will still have visitors: if not, then no one will go there again. 1st event when this zone was put into the game was EPIC. This reboot was not so much.
(edited by fixit.7189)
In my case the drop rate is 0.
Some accounts like mine are cursed with negative loot modifiers I guess.
Farmed every day for up to 10 hours per since this all started….I would estimate I have opened over 200 the kitten ed things. No ticket and no mini pets.
But this is not suprising, every RNG event I never get the rare items.
Looking forward to not getting anything in Dragon bash as well!
:(

Went back to WoW when expansion was released…to a dead world. Apparently, my server totally died and I was only one in Org.
It would have cost me around 250 bucks to move my chars to a server that was not dead. Suffice to say, I uninstalled WoW about 4 days later. Bored and lonely ftl.
You can hate on GW2 all you want but I think each has it’s pluses and minuses. Now all you wow fan boys out there, that’s cool. I played for 7 years straight! But no more, it’s to old for me.
(edited by fixit.7189)
I wish these skins were for armor. Pity best hat my Asuran has worn so far is town clothes only lol.
The latest case of “farming nerfs” was actually a bug fix. I’m aware of this because I was asked to help identify the issue. The area in question contained a spawn that was defined to have more creatures than spots for those creatures to spawn. So for example, 25 skelks spawning on 10 points. This is not intended. Not only does it just look absurd, it’s also leads to some extremely bizarre play conditions. This is one of those bugs that’s so buggy, the fact that our toolset even allowed this to happen is a bug. Another bug caused this bug. Bugception.
If we didn’t want players to be able to farm, we wouldn’t have put in the huge (and free) magic and gold find buffs for Southsun Cove. We wouldn’t drop loot from the giant mobs of creatures that appear in upscaled events. We certainly wouldn’t have put in chests that appear after events which cycle every 8 to 10 minutes. How quickly all of that content goes completely forgotten in the angered responses to a simple change to an area that was clearly bugged. :/
On farming in general, there’s a sweet spot that combines good loot with fun, engaging content. I think Southsun had that going for it, especially before certain aspects of the content were isolated as optimal. As someone who’s actively working on upcoming Living World releases, I’m aiming to find that sweet spot and hit it in a big way.
I just wish rest of the open world was as rewarding as the instigator was. That event series yeiled me more rares and exotics in a couple of days than I have found total since launch; it was HEAVEN.
Now that he is gone, there is no where else to go to get good loots no more for people like me who prefer open world rather than being forced to group with 4 others and do CoF pt 1. just to stock pile gold to maybe buy a legendary 5 years from now (probably more, darn uber inflation).
I really hope the team offers more events like this in the future where my play time was rewarding and fun….now it’s gone. Sigh.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Yea it’s totally ok for people to farm an instance a billion times and make mad money yet poor shmucks like me who like to just farm open world keep getting nerf bats to the face.
Nothing like the first event, that one was epic. I expect next to no one is going to bother SS if the 200% MF buff goes away. Way to much work to get this thing to spawn and the rewards are (in my case) always a buncha greens.
I will miss you Instigator….I been playing since launch and this was first event that has given me exotics and rares.
Now what? Do I have to join a zerg guild and run kitten instances since that is evidently the only way to make money outside of playing TP tycoon? edit. actually the real method, the one they want me to take is buy gold with gems. GG.
While the Instigators are undoubtedly way more profitable, that’s also the exact reason why I feel they can’t stay. It’s fine having them in for a couple weeks, but leaving them in permanently just provides an easy source of cash that can only lead to inflation.
CoF pt 1 would like to have a word with you.
(edited by fixit.7189)
So that means I have no right to an opinion then. Ok, fine.
Whispers secret staff is what I use, not that you can really see it since I am asuran. Wish there was a race change option so I could go human thus weapons are not so small you can’t tell what they are half the time.
W/e. I think 99.9% sta kitten look like quickly made junk.
Can you honestly tell me that they put same amount of effort in to staves and other weapons when compared to the almighty ultra weapon set known as great swords?
Question: Why do staff skins have to all look bland and boring?
Suppose this is matter of opinion but there is not one single staff model in this game I would consider cool looking. What is even worse is my main is an Asuran so weapons look tiny and most often are hardly even visible.
Now compare all staff models to say…I dunno….great swords. Staves look like they were an after thought to those. Even low level GSs look nice. Is this GreatSword Wars 2?
Anyway, on the plus side: I save myself a ton of gold and aggravation not going after stave skins since none are worth bothering with. Yea I know, staff is just a stick and they obviously went for that vibe but why can’t they make staves that make you go WOW THAT’S COOL! Not even Bilfrost is worthy of that, it’s something I’d expect you would pick up for 3 g and not what 3k.
edit staves = staff with an s since that is apparently a naughty word.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Want the stats and the skin but with a regular upgrade slot.
It’s lesser version of the exotic too which makes no sense.
Well unless it’s changed, it will gather dust in the bank I guess. Shame, the graphic is awesome….the infusion slot is not.
p.s. throw this soloer a bone, this is first backpack with stats close to what I want + nice skin. Want to throw a sapphire into it.
(edited by fixit.7189)
This is why I will probably never have a legendary….I refuse to buy gold to afford one. I can’t make the gold in game, every event I go to now I never get tags at all; it’s all dead the instant it spawns. Only way I make gold is grind in some out of the way spot and pray I can get enough DPS on the mob to get a drop. It’s either that or buy gems → gold.
This is only going to get more depressing when Legendaries get better stats than exos in the future and you will have to have one to compete.
I’ve got an asura bias, myself, since I main one :P so I will just end by saying that I really want more outfits that were specifically designed for a 3 foot tall mad scientist.
Exactly my thoughts on this.
Clothing designed specifically for Asura and not quickly ported HUMAN MALE versions.
Cultural armor don’t count here btw, there should be cheaper options period; not forced to blow 100g+ to look passable.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Almost all armor, aside from cultural sets are designed for humans first and formost.
While human toon players have a wide assortment of awsome looking armor….both male and female versions while my Asura only gets a badly ported human male version.
Just look around in game, most people play humans. I love my Ausra immensely but I really dislike the armor options we are given and all the clipping problems. It is clear; instead of making unique versions of these sets for female/male other races, they cheaped out and used only human male version only to save cash?
Just look at all the human toons in game atm, it’s a testement to how much better clothing options they get. People flock to this in every game I have ever played. Yet, I rarely if ever see Asura lvl 80 mains, most are alts. I dare say, majority of peoples mains are a scantily clad chicks wearing just enough clothing to cover up the naughty bits.
Problem here is that anything not human seems to get less polygon count clothing with little selection and generally bad looks. It cost me 100g to buy the cultural set for my Asura ele just to make her look half decent. My human chars on other hand, has a massive selection of clothing options with extremely noticably superior detail/dyes options. This is wrong….but what can I do really, other races are last on the list for improvements after all. I can only guess that the armor designers work from human models only since almost every single armor piece I have seen usually has clipping problems on my asura.
And don’t get me started about tiny weapons. Humans get to see theirs, mine is buried under ill fitting clothes. I can barely even see my daggers while drawn too, I even picked the largest model I could.
(edited by fixit.7189)
I will never have ascended gear. Hard to find a group for lvl 1, been looking for 4 days now and no dice. Almost had a party but moment I warned them I have not even been in FotM yet; I was told I was a worthless scrub and then promptly booted. Awsome awsome direction they went here. Bang up job.
No grind here for me. I can totally ignore this treadmill all together since there is no ascended gear with heal/toughness/power. /dodged a bullet
Play the game for the way it’s ment to be played.
DO you have a Healer/support class in Call of Duty?
Hi, they offer cleric sets already for exos/rares but not ascended and there lies the problem. Your ‘arguements’ have no basis for this conversation at all so please stop trolling. Thanks!
Where is healing/toughness/power ascended stuff?
I read there would be a set for all play styles but instead they left many stat combos out.
Sticking to exos I guess….and not doing fractals/daily/monthly.
Personally, I would suggest she go warrior, guardian, or thief. Low skill cap needed for all those classes and they can do everything you list way better than an ele. You can pretty much use only two buttons on those classes and do really well all the way to 80 and beyond.
If she is set on making an ele, I would highly suggest she learn to use attunement swapping; it is intergal to ele, period. This is not like other games where you pick an element and focus on it. If you do that in GW2 on an Ele you won’t do so well and more than likely won’t enjoy it either.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Keep this alive, do not let ANet win.
At least have one blast finisher on the earth dodge adhereing to the 10 sec rule which would make sense. Thanks.
Nado only effects 5 targets max and you have to be on top of the player to even get the KD. And of course one SINGLE immobilize = insta gib. Guessing people who use it to good effect are infact just fluking out with culling since enemy can’t even see you for a bit.
Honestly, I gave it a fair shot. I tried to use it for many months in PvP and PvE. Now I don’t put it on the bar no more since stability canceling got removed. That was the only thing it was really good for.
It’s only good in water now; other wise it’s pretty crummy imo.
(edited by fixit.7189)
It’s hard to down me, though, save for one shots, or less than a second multishots that down you in a hurry. Still, the healing at your level or 1,500 is quite nice, even without that 250 boost (yes, I do use a Sigil of Life on at least two of my weapons.) It’s just fun to play that way for me, and though I have some toughness, healing has come through for me quite often.
It’s possible to surpass 1,800 with Signet of Mercy on top of that. It’s a bit too much even for me, but I can’t say that it’s a hindrance in any way (the regen skills and self healing power is just ridiculously good.) Sure I could hit harder, but it’s ok. I may get/craft another more offensive armor set in the future, or just relent such duties to my female Charr Warrior in due time (the healing above is for my female human Guardian.)
Ah I see, I play Ele; the most nerfed class in GW2. I think they just nerf us out of spite or maybe because it’s funny.
My ‘level’ is 80 with full out exotics, btw.
So essentially other classes do more dmg, have better utility, more life, have more survivability, AND get 300+ more healing on top of it all. Meh.
(edited by fixit.7189)
I think I am going to use that Quaggan song as a ring tone. Pure win.
Coo! Quaggan likes you!
Hmm, I have full out cleric gear/full healing line but runed more for more toughness; I have about 1384 heal. If I go full out runed healing, I could get up to maybe 1450 max. So I am assuming that to get over 1.7k; you have the +10 heal per kill sigil to reach that high, however if you get downed once it’s all gone…
IThis is an MMORPG. RPG games, since the dawn of time, have been about stats and vertical progression.
And this is where GW2 devs for the past five years bodly claimed they were going to do it differently. For the first 2.5 months they did infact break the stereo typical most recycled design base ever and made something truely unique.
Last patch changed all that and has essentially become just like every other MMO out there. Problem is, other MMOs does it far better and there is no tricks in marketing to make you think other wise; you know what you are getting into from the beginning.
Not so in GW2 now.
Keep in mind this is only the tip of the iceberg; the flood gates have been open.
When you promise something to get sales then go back on it later on….that is called bait and switch. This could also be deemed as fraud.
Well they nerfed healing even more last patch. This game really just boils down to pure DPS just like say Quake. Pray you pick the right class that gets a ‘rocket launcher’ and gets continous uneeded buffs like say I dunno, warriors.
But I digress; this is about the only thing GW2 is sticking to and that’s making sure that healing is not that good. I expect further nerfs in the near future.
Oh, there’s been word – the same empty words we were already offered,
Which really does not say anything about this topic other than confirming my fears. Suffice to say, they did it in THAT thread instead of here which further proves that this thread is nothing more than a glorified trash can. I expect it will either be locked or better yet it will encounter a magical forum bug and will disappear entirely.
Ascended gear is lame, hate it. Now I don’t even want to play.
Over 10k replies,13k+ views later, and counting; still no word. That speaks volumes about what they think about us which is…they don’t care. Prove me wrong….?.
W/e, I just heard about a certain highly anticipated new game that is basically Wv3 as it’s focus with MMO elements but on a much grander scale. It’s also F2P. Consider me curious.
(edited by fixit.7189)
After repairs and costs of consumables, I think I came away with maybe 1g total. Man, I am so rich now; envy me!!
You would probably have to kill around 10k of those things at the very least to even get that much. Still sad they nuked it, now there is generally no reason to even go to this zone.
So Consortium invades Karka land and upsets them, then they attack LA in retailiation, then Lion Gaurd and friends experiment on them in terribly inhumane ways, then we push them out, then we attack their home land and slaughter them wholesale including their mom. Oddly enough we all profited off this. Convenient!
Imperialism and war profiting for the win!
But part of me really feels bad for the Karka…
Lastly, nothings really changed. Sure we have a new lvl 80 zone but no one is really going to go there ever again since there really isn’t anything to do there that can’t be done elsewhere easier. Not many events, no real items to go after, low mob diversity, and all the mobs are super hard for little payout. Only real reason to go back is the JP and get the few Ori nodes there. Back to cursed shore I guess.
(edited by fixit.7189)
No more one time events, thanks. While they are cool and all, it really just excludes a ton of players due to RL and timezones.
Next time, have the events repeatable every few hours so most people can enjoy them and then when they end; send a mail with rewards to only one character so that you only get it once. Everyone wins in the end, right?
Last note; this thread will either be deleted or get magically nuked due to a ‘forum bug’. Excellent way to squash complaints, it works well.
(edited by fixit.7189)
I am sure a few managed to do this a few times on multiple characters but you have to realize that it takes like 3+ hours to do. So like maybe…maybe you coulda done it 4x and that’s if you didn’t D/C which happened frequently for many people. Then you have to consider the RNG involved in actually getting a pre-cursor which was what…10% or less?
Prices on pre-cursors have droped for sure but I am betting the lucky people who won the GW2 lottery are just dumping them to make fast cash. Prices will go back up to absurb amounts in a short while I bet, maybe.
If you really want to be fair, go through logs of which people who exploited this and punish them imo.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Big round of applause to all the players in this game: you came through and at the very least helped a lot of people see this content when they would other wise have not.
This is truely something worthy of deep praise.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
/bow
I have never seen in any MMO this level of player cooperation on a whole and I thank YOU the players for being down right awsome. Helping people get to see the event and generally playing as one giant family; truely amazing to see. Thank you.
Anyways, I really hope all the people who suffered D/Cs and other bugs get a fair re-imbursement but I would not expect them to even bother.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Now that the event is officially over: there is really no reason to go back other than to maybe grab Ori nodes. There is nothing really to do in this zone now and since mobs are much harder than anywhere else + they have very very low drop rates: I will not be going back ever.
Hate to see such a beautiful zone go to waste. Oh well.
Anyways, I feel really bad and sorry to all the players who could not attend or the ones who could not even complete it. You have my condolences.
Legendary weapons don’t come with any stat improvements. Meaning they are exactly what ANET promised in the manifesto: Items that are " differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone"
Right now they don’t, but soon they will have best stats. If you want proof, dig thru forums and look at the screenshots of the buffed legendaries that mistakenly got buffed when patch first went live. Since they can have any sigil, they will be superior to even Ascended which have only have a infusion slot. Thus legendaries a) become the best b) mandatory.
Time to whip out the ol credit card, eh?
You want to compete in Wv3 at top level again? Have to grind. Want to participate in future content since all previous gear does not have infusion slots? Have to grind.
No matter what, you have to have this stuff unless you only sPvP.
This patch is basically going back on what they said for 5 years which is pretty much….
Bait and switch.
(edited by fixit.7189)
Ingame poll, just like in beta.
Let’s put this to a vote.
Charge me a sub then. Do it.
No, I don’t want to do a forced dungeon treadmill.
Think dungeons suck here, but that’s just me I guess.
Allow me to craft this junk, buy it with karma, or let me get it in Wv3. You know, like before.
Statements, claims, and that Manifesto is why I believed in this game. This was the direction that really impressed me and one of the main reasons why I pre-ordered it. I don’t normally pre-order games but I did in this case. I saw thier vision they once had and it struck a chord with me. It was like that shining beckon in the stagnant murk of the MMO genre. Now they go back on 5 years promises and broke it in one single devestating patch.
No, no I don’t think this is right. Nothing anyone says can convince me other wise.
If I wanted to play a gear treadmill, I would go play that other game and or all it’s other clones. GW2 was supposed to be unique and it was up until this patch. That is wrong, so very wrong.
But whatever, the screaming minority from that other game won and that’s that. But on the plus side, after they demolish this content in a week or two; they will leave after they get bored again and or start moaning about how there is nothing do do. So the vicious circle begins.
(edited by fixit.7189)
There is short cut to pretty much cut out doing the lava rock thingie part all together.
After that, its not too hard.
