I liked the style of Staff though. I don’t understand what they were thinking or what they intend for this class to be.

The two classes you listed in OT only get crippling nerfs every single patch, like the one they just did today.
Stay FAR away from these two classes if you are wise.
Go with the ‘pet’ classes who get huge buffs even if they don’t need it like warriors.

Some classes got nerfs to a few abilities…
Eles got nerfed to the point that an entire playstyle + weapon (staff) is now a sad joke.
But they buff warriors and leave all the other bunker class builds relatively unscathed + in some cases BUFFed them.
Then you add a mandatory gear treadmill on top of all this.
Slap to the face.
Bunker D/D builds you mean. Which actually was the build that majority of people were complaining about yet it is the LEAST effect by these changes. Funny how things work. If we are going to be fair: nerf D/D more as well imo. Do it.

Yea to combo RoF for might stacks and thats about it. You dropped a bit of power, no biggie. Us staff users just lost an entire game style with massive nerfs on top of it.

Signed. Once per 10 seconds like it was supposed to be and not as many times as you dodge which was the ACTUAL bug that made EA overpowered.

This has to be the biggest nerf I have ever seen out of the couple dozen MMOs I have played over the last 20 odd years.
Sorry to say, more and more I play this patch it starts to remind me of a certain other patch from another game called NGE. Not quite as bad, but very very close.
Massive and HUGE game breaking nerfs to my main class and then they add gear creep/grind as well.
I used other trait lines, then I found evasive arcana. I can’t go back to those crappy, inferior other traits like fire or lightnin.
Guess new builds will be 0/0/30/20/20 D/D <> S/D.
Well until it gets nerfed cus it will.
May as well break my staff now and hope I get one exo out of it.

Nerfing of tornado making it into a skill that should never be on your bar ever…not good.
Buffing conjures: still won’t use them. They limit you to one skill set bar, thus limits you to 1/4 power of your class. Still worthless.
Nerfing of Evasive Arcana: did not effect D/D and S/D that much but it now has totally gutted Staff builds. I agree something needed to be done but I honestly think that fixing the bug where you could do multiple blast finishers under the 10 sec CD would have been enough, still making combo eles worth while but cutting down the power. Now there is no blast finishers from EA and thus Staff became obsolete.
Mist form fixes: still broken.
Healing cut by 50%: not only can we not trigger AoE combo fields no more, you cut the heals by half yet again did not do it to other classes so much. Why just eles? Why????
Destroying of staff bunker builds: this need fixing for sure but not in such a heavy handed way like you just did. Oddly enough you did not nerf any other class bunker builds and in the guardians case…you actually buffed it.
Over all, I find these massive nerfs unfounded and totally out of hand. I expected adjustments but not out right nerfs into the ground making a whole weapon set (staff) total garbage.
I just, yea..this is baffling. I guess you guys don’t play eles and only see the effects of them on the classes you do play? Meh.

Arc, you are stated u don’t use staff much and pretty much into D/D and S/D which both only got minor nerfs so of course you are fine with these changes. We get it, you did not like staff bunkers and don’t mind them getting massive nerfs since it does not effect you one bit other being able to smoke staff users way easier now.
Which means that nado entirely became a worthless skill. There is absolutely no reason to have that skill on the bar no more.
So in one patch, staff got utterly gutted. Great…
Now it’s D/D and S/D are the only real viable weapon sets.
Staff brings nothing to the table anymore and became a joke in one fell swoop.
I been playin staff since BWE1 as my weapon of choice…now it’s D/D only….

Yes, curious about their thoughts on buffing the heck out of warriors…letting guardian bunkers escape unscathed, and totally nerfing the kitten out of staff elementalists.

D/D eles not that effected so its a nerf but not as massive as the one to staff which really…really did not need such a kick in the kittens.
The kicker here is that guardians bunkers came away more or less unscathed. So it’s ok for them to bunker but no one else? Really?
1 blast finisher was fine imo, it was the bug that allowed you to make two or more during the 10 sec CD that was the problem. Now there is NO finishers at all.
So effectively Staff builds got the axe making it a worthless weapon with it’s lovely halved healing, lowest single target/easily avoided by strafing dps in game, no combos now, and 5 cap AoE that is negated totally by stacking. GG.
Someone at ANet office must REALLY have it in for eles I suppose. Warrior or bust? Pet classes or not at all? FUN!

Don’t expect Ascended stuff to take that long to get (I hope…) so it’s only an annoyance to have to PvE for it. But the legendaries being BiS in stats….man that is not going to be cheap to get especially if you use a wide variety of weapons and gears. But like everything, it can be done in hours if you open your wallet and buy all the mats with RL cashola which is (I am sure) the option most people will end up taking and likely why they are doing this in the first place; $$. Working as intended I guess.

If there is more dps weapons to be had, I must have it. Just like now where I have the best I can get and allows me to do other things rather than grind. You betcha I am going to have to save up to afford the next gear tier. Scary thing is, they will most likely up the bar again…and again and again. Once they break their word once, it’s open season. Anyways, back to grinding to afford the new changes instead of doing what I love…Wv3. /sigh
Namu, its called planning for the future. Start working on legendaries or get left behind is the new motto for GW2. Already said they are adding more and more of this stuff as a ‘gear initiative’ which is super secret code for: hi guis, I hope u love treadmills cus here it comes!
Ascended weapons, or so they say will be equal in raw stats to a legendary but the difference is that the legendary will be able to use sigils which makes them much much better out side of this new content. But they also said that Legendaries will always be BiS which means they will have the best stats. This is really really confusing, actually.
Right now, there is no difference between exos and legendaries other than looks. That changes soon; legendaries become ‘must have’ and not ‘optional’.

Though lied to already but:
Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content.
Ascended weapons will be second best since they have infusion slot thingie; legendaries have slot for sigils. Legendary Weapon >> Ascended >>>>>> Exotic.
You have to start RIGHT now to get legendary weapons cus they will have the best stats period. They already said so. So if you want to be relevant, you had better start on legendaries asap. Atm it was optional and for cosmetic/bragging rights only but soon it will become mandatory if you want to compete.
Yea, I am not quitting. I will grind in PvE like a good little hampster so I can go back to Wv3 eventually. Not going to like doin that tho, it will be forced on me.
And also I will have to somehow figure out how I am going to come up with a couple 1000 gold so I can afford to buy legendary weapon sets. I need at least 3 to start (1 staff + 2x daggers). This is going not going to be enjoyable at all. Guess I could spend RL cash like most….but I don’t wanna…

Ok you take one group with 36% more stats over all due to having full sets of new gears/weapons vs another group that does not have that stuff….
Tell me, who will win in pure numbers?
Oh you say it’s only 2 rings and a back slot, silly! Then I point out they explicitly said they are not only adding full sets with accompanied weapons but ALSO with mutiple ‘tiers’ and more legendaries on top of that.
This game becomes Gear Wars, just like that other game and all it’s clones.
This is why I quit those other games totally; no thanks to gear wars.

Wrong. There is balance atm. Gear threshhold in Wv3 has a cap.
True exo 80 vs True exo 80 in Wv3 atm is equal in gear.
It does not matter about legendaries since their stats are equal to exo; thus no problems there.
Difference is skill.
After they go through with this:
True legendary 80 >>>>> True exo 80.
If you don’t spend the time, money, and or RL money you are doomed to being second best. That is not right and true to their Manifesto.
Last point: 3x orb bonus was axed b/c it made Wv3 unbalanced. Stat increase was to great. What they are doin with legendaries and Ascended gear is like giving everyone access to their very own personal ‘3 orbs’ via gears as long as you grind/pay $$ for it.

They said PvP, but not what type of PvP.
I assume its sPvP and not Wv3.
sPvP has its own gear sets so of course it will not be affected.
It’s Wv3 that is the question and I assume much like it now: anything goes.
And no matter what anyone says….Wv3 is PvP and highly competive at that. Possibly more so than sPvP will ever be.
WvW was never ment to be equal. I do know they said that for a fact. They specifically said if you want even pvp join spvp matches because WvW isn’t that.
On that note how many times are you 1v1 in wvw…. I rarely find that.
If it was meant to be equal, your level 2 character joining WvW would have full traits, and exotics + sigils, just like spvp.
They scale you sure but thats so that you don’t get farted on by a level 80 and fall over dead before you can even react….
Right now there is absolutely no stat difference between true 80s since there is no gear disparity if both have exotics. After these changes it will have an impact, a massive one at that. Imagine a thief hitting for 5k now, instead hitting for 6.5k after? That breaks the game for true 80s and the lower levels together.
Like to point out that the scaling tech is pretty good here in GW2. My level 2 is capable of smacking a true 80 for up to 6k if I get lucky. Difference is not really gear but the amount of skills/slots unlocked; more versatility. A level 40+ can compete pretty well actually; stack your prefered stats and the scaling tech will buff them. It actually might be cheaper and better to twink a 40+ toon to combat legendary lvl 80s…maybe. It begs experimentation…
Having said that, Wv3 is end game for many of us and it is unsettling they are so quick to wreck whatever balance has been done so far; it actually will throw it entirely out of whack and will inevitably result in knee jerk, over done nerfs to classes and their abilities. I see it coming.
Last thought; Wv3 is end game content. It is something meant for capped players to do. It is the pinnacle of PvP to me. sPvP is just like any other BG driven game I have played a million times and thus not really interesting. Keep Ascended and Legendaries outa Wv3; that would please me to no end.

I assume Ascended weapons will have that transfusion only slot or what ever….thus statistically Legendaries will be the best of the best since it has the ability to put any sigil you want in it thus making it better than Ascended outside of one instance. And it also has more stats/dmg to so it’s way better than exotics. Plus it looks hyper cool as an extra added bonus.
So essentially if you only have an exotic weapon(s)….mr legendary guy will win and get invited into the ‘cool kids club’ above the exotic noobs due to having superior gear.
Is that ok? Maybe in that other game or the countless pay to win MMOs where this is a feature, but here? I play GW2 to avoid all that arms race mess. Not cool, man. Not cool.

Was loitering around LA today and to my shock found 6 dudes with legendaries having a chat.
Another player passing by asked how they got them which a couple of them pretty much said they just went to a gold seller and bought most of the mats needed to make it. Then they started complaining about ANet crushing bots of recent and hoping they come back so they don’t have to grind…
Not saying all legendary owners bought gold to short cut the process but a bunch infact did…
Like I knew a guy in another F2P MMO who dropped 2 grand, 2 grand to get a better weapon than I did which took me around 2 months of solid grinding to make. People with that sort of disposable income will spend as much as needed to be better than others and or not have to grind.
When legendaries get dmg buffs, these are the people that benefit the most and seemingly the player base they are now catering too? That conversation was kinda depressing if not sickening to listen too, I logged off after that in disgust.
I just hope ascended weapons are not that hard to get and equal to legendaries. I really don’t want to play another game that devolves into who spends the most wins.
Actually ascended gear from what they are saying will be able to be gotten from WvW.
Very true which is great, however, if it like it is now where it’s a super long grind to get full set compared to PvE then nothings really changed. Also like to point out that you can only get one set of stats currently in Wv3 which is P/T/V; you can’t get other stat combos…they can only be proccured outside of Wv3.
Have to wait I guess. Don’t forsee them revamping Wv3 gear progression for quite some time….they have to smooth out this new content pack first and fix the guarenteed bugs that will come with it. Then they have to release the rest of this stuff before they start focusing on Wv3….so until then, forced dungeon runs. Ugh. /dread.
Saying “BiS” means it has the best stats of all weapons. It is an item you use because it is the BEST. So unless he mis-typed which I highly doubt, it means what it means; legendaries will be the top tier. I am just going by what that dude said. You don’t throw the term “BiS” around lightly imo, especially in an MMO.
Wrong, those ascended item have rune like stats already baked into them. Look at that ring; stats under the first one is essentially a higher tier jewel.
Also, you are dodging the issue where legendaries will have best dmg and stats in the game which is a fact they already stated in the gear blog.
8% increase per item. 26% increase for whole set. This is going by stat budget math others have put much work into already to compute. 26% is a massive change in gear power. This not even factoring in how much they are buffin legendaries. You scoff at such marginal increases but when you put it all together, it may very well trump any rune combination if you are focusing on only pure stats in those slots (like I do). Best part is you get an extra slot to help you in PvE and whos to say they won’t eventually cave in, letting you use runes/sigils and infusions with stats on them in the future.
This is sort of thing I totally expect in an expansion, a year or two from now: not 2.5 months later.

They are adding vertical progression when they bodly stated GW2 would only be horizontal. That is essentially throwing 5 years of promises right out the window.
Now that the gate has been opened, so begins the treadmill.
Shall I start digging up the direct dev quotes and vids? Or maybe put some effort in and go through that 8k+ post thread and see them there for yourselves. It’s right there in print for all to see.
p.s. i love new content, I love new things to do. I am all for it and appreciated it fully. What I don’t love is STAT creep in a game that said it would never ever have it and that is my complaint. Now take that out of context, I expect it.

Proof is already there, sad to say. Getting a set of invader gear requires considerably more effort than getting that same gear in PvE. I expect nothing different unless they revamp Wv3 token/gear system which I don’t expect to happen for a while to come. They seem to be focusing entirely on PvE and trying to please that crowd above all else atm. This is what I see. Maybe it will change quicker, but probably not. We shall see, won’t we?
They can’t do much unless they make Wv3 exclusive only sets which I doubt they will ever do; to much money and work most likely. Plus all the stat chasers will complain that they can’t own under geared players. So, I think they are fine with Wv3 being a gear check, I guess. This new tier proves it.
HoD died like a month ago, majority vacated that server enmass over the course of a week or so all thanks to a certain coalition leaving due to Wv3. Try to get on the bigger servers if you can.
A Gear Treadmill is when you are at 100% of the maximum character power, then the game moves you back to less than 100% of the maximum character power, and you have to go grind more and collect more gear to reach 100% power again.
It’s called a “Treadmill” because you have to keep ‘running’ (grinding) just to stay in the same place that you started.
This sums it up.
I am going to assume they really don’t care one bit about Wv3 (which was a major selling point for me btw) and will let it devolve into which side has the best gear on a whole. Just like that other game and all it’s clones. What eva….

Really? The stat increase from Exotic to Ascended is only like 2 points. Anet isn’t forcing you to get it.
It’s more than +2 stats. That is just one stat on one piece. Look around forums; general consensus is that each part is 8% better individually and when combined in a full set = 26% better.
This is also not factoring in buffed legendaries which will bump the difference in over all combat performance even more.
This makes them BiS and a must have if you want to compete in Wv3.

It has exquisite jewel built into it dude, look again. Now add up the stats….it’s noticably better. Now times that by a whole set then tack on extra stats/dmg from legendaries. It’s not a small increase when combined. Already stated they will be putting more and different tiers to boot so t2 will have more stats probably.
