For the most part, I remember WoW’s open world PVE being easier than GW2’s. Even in the early levels (maybe especially in the early levels).
Daredevil and Reaper are the two I’m most excited for so far. My main is an engineer, though, and I await the Forge reveal with bated breath.
You have no idea how many BETA weekends there will be that will include Engi/Ranger. You’re assuming we are close to release. kittenumption.
It doesn’t matter how many more BWEs Anet give us now. All other professions will still have had 2 more than Rangers and Engis. I’d be saying exactly the same if it was any other 2 professions in the same position.
Even if every prof has 2 more than Engi/Ranger, its irrelevant. Anet only needs as many BWE’s as is necessary to make the changes they want. Frankly, you’re being presumptuous and it’s making you look silly.
Regardless of the aspect of feedback, it’s still 2 more BWE’s worth of playtime.
Thanks for the ad hominem. Do you tend to rebuke arguments solely with logic and facts, or do you simply feel the additional inherent need to call everyone with whom you disagree in an argument ‘silly’?
People really need to stop accusing others of logical fallacies when they don’t actually understand logical fallacies. That’s not an ad hominem. Insults in general are not ad hominem. He did not make personal attacks to try to discredit you.
“Bryzy is a silly person, therefore his argument is invalid” is an ad hominem. “Bryzy’s arguments are presumptuous and make him look silly” is an unkind comment on the quality of your arguments that may or may not be true, but it is not a fallacy.
Delay release of HoT in favor of a new spec
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: glehmann.9586
Or you can create a new spec with the DragonHunter theme of revenge against the dragon, it’s high concept and synergies well with Daredevil.
. . . Lots of Batman nonsense . . .
That’s pretty much the exact opposite of high concept.
I figure the 1% will delete it or toss it in their bank in hopes of it having a use in the future, and then they will go and dive into their giant vault of money Scrooge McDuck-style.
So much negativity. Dare Devil has me seriously considering returning to Thief as my main. To each their own, I suppose…
You realize that they will continue taking feedback and making changes after HoT releases, right? It’s not like HoT will release and we are then stuck with whatever state Druids and Forges are in at that moment.
While we’re making beard-related requests, as a man whose facial hair color doesn’t match his head hair color, it would be nice if we could do facial hair color separately in game.
There are actually technical reasons they don’t split outfits up into armor pieces. Light, medium, and heavy armor have different “seams”, especially at the waist. It’s actually not just a simple matter of splitting the outfits up and setting the pieces to the right slots, they would have to split the outfits up differently for each weight class. And since the outfits were designed as single pieces, it would likely require re-designing the polygons of the armors at those seams for any weight class that didn’t line up with the outfit design. In some cases that would probably mean a rework for all 3 weight classes.
In other words, unless they do an overhaul of the entire armor system you are not going to see this happen.
pulmonary means lungs so I guess that’s a reason for them to not call it heart stopping whatever fingers
Pulmonary is the blood flow to your lungs, not the lungs. If that is interrupted, you’ll have a hard time breathing. However that is just the effect, not the cause. To make your lungs fail, the target is the heart or the arteries around the lungs.
The only way you can really damage the lung is when you puncture it with a sharp object, other than that, it is too flexible to even get affected by any blunt weapons.
Pulmonary means relating to the lungs
Pulmonary arteries carry blood from the heart to the lungs, and pulmonary veins carry it from the lungs back to the heart. Pulmonary tissue is lung tissue. A pulmonary impact is literally an impact to the lungs. It doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with blood flow; if you insist on applying real-life lung resilience to in-game combat, you could be hitting with enough force to fracture a rib and puncture the lung with it.
Anet better make this good. Otherwise there will a massive humble pie and a truckload of “I told you so”s for this forum.
I can’t speak for others, but all I ever said is that Thief was going to have a staff.
I never said it was going to be good, since that is impossible to predict, but I said that’s what Thief was going to get. From that picture that was released it was 100% clear Thief was getting a staff.Though some people somehow saw a rifle where none existed. That was, at least for me, what the whole discussion was about.
I don’t speak for everyone aswell, but rifle was just preferred. ANYTHING but a melee staff would have been adequate except maybe warhorn and scepter. Melee staff just doesn’t seem like it’ll do anything the other weapons can’t already do. Its almost guaranteed to cause issues.
So, you think a melee hammer would have been preferred to melee staff? Or Greatsword?
I love everything about the mad scientist outfit except for the helmet. Currently I just hide it, but it would be fantastic to be able to display reading glasses or one of the medium monocle pieces instead.
angel/demon roleplay
Only there aren’t any angels (or demons with feather wings) in the Guild Wars universe.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fallen_Angels
Whether or not angels actually exist in the setting, the concept certainly seems to.
I’m betting on one of two things:
1. You earn it through each trait track progression.
2. You start out with it.
I don’t think you’ll start with it. When you create a revenant, you have to choose your starting blindfold/headgear, from one of three options. The Mistward headgear is different from all three of them. It would be kind of weird to start with a full set of Mistward and an additional headgear.
Sometimes is LESS much MUCH more and in regard of this saying, it owuld be much better for the whole game in my opinion, if all Class Names of the Elite Specializations would simply follow the same style and theme of naming, like all other professions, which means simply:
- No Lore Based Names
- No idiotic High Concept Names, that are used to insult the community for not understanding their backgrounds..cough DH, #neverforget
- All Class names have 1 Word Names that are easy to understand, which fit to the Design and Theme of the Main Profession and thus feel like right Elite-Specializations of them which follow their styles and not try to turn their origins by 180° into something totally different like wannabe 3 in 1 concept mixes of things, that don’t fit together, like the Dragonhunter tries to be at the same time a Witchhunter, Archer and Light Magic based Trapper with the Theme of an Wannabe Angel like GW1’s Paragon..just missing that they have also their Wannabe Bard Gameplay with hymns integrated >.> That would have been the most absurd top of the iceberg then…
People are still going off on that whole “high-concept” comment? It’s especially ironic because what you are asking for is actually for all elite specs to be high-concept. Simple, one-word profession names that are easy to understand are pretty much exactly what high-concept means.
When they said Dragonhunter was high concept, they weren’t trying to defend it against accusations that it was kind of a stupid name by claiming that the community just didn’t understand it, they were effectively agreeing that it was a very simple name without much nuance or subtlety and pointing out that some profession elite specs were named that way while others had more nuance like a Reaper (which will vary significantly based on your setting’s lore surrounding death).
Marjory's racism if you are not a Sylvari PC
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: glehmann.9586
Bear in mind, if you’re playing a Sylvari character, part of the difference is because she has been regularly interacting with a Sylvari for the past two years, working closely with one to save Tyria. That’s bound to have an impact on her perception of Sylvari.
If you’re a non-Sylvari character, then the biggest Sylvari influences in her life so far have been the Toxic Alliance, Scarlet, and Aerin.
I suspect that she doesn’t secretly hate you if you’re a Sylvari, but that playing a Sylvari means her story is different, that she has a very positive Sylvari influence in her life in addition to the negative ones that she doesn’t have if you are playing a non-Sylvari.
I’ve experience this problem on a number of story steps, and was doing those steps in a group with two friends. All of us saw the same dialog missing, which seems unlikely if it were a lag issue. We were also all on female characters.
sebradle pretty much covered my opinion. The pro-staff people haven’t always conducted themselves as well as they should, but yolo has consistently engaged in terrible behavior, exemplified by the OP in this thread.
This isn’t just an ad hominem this is you mischaracterizing every single person who wants melee staff in order to discredit us.
Maybe I’m just nitpicking here, but “mischaracterizing every single person who wants melee staff in order to discredit us” is almost exactly what ad hominem means.
Masteries and XP should be one system not two
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: glehmann.9586
Imagine having to take ~100k fall damage to unlock gliding, glide for ~5 minutes to unlock updrafts, use ~20 updrafts to unlock the next and so on. Finally mastering gliding would require completion of a timed glider “jumping” puzzle.
THIS IS PERFECT. I want some hybrid of this concept and the current system we saw in the beta.
In a sense that’s what already exists. Some of the mastery points are locked behind getting the gold rank in adventures, many of which require low level masteries to achieve (e.g. the burning tendrils one, where there’s no way you’re getting gold without access to bouncing mushrooms). So there’s no direct ties to using masteries and progressing masteries, but you’ll need to use masteries to get enough mastery points to fully unlock them.

“Corrupted Shia Le Beef”
But you know jiu-jitsu…
Seriously though, it’s a decent idea, but I’d rather keep PvP to the Mists.(Also that should be Shia Le Salad
)
But your leg, it’s caught in a bear trap!
The idea also reminds me of the undead plague event that preceded the launch of Wrath of the Lich King in WoW. I had a blast with it, but I know a lot of other people hated it, too.
Oh, and the jetpacks we used to fly up to the giant drill in Lion’s Arch: Make them fly in HoT
I thought we just took a portal up to the Breachmaker.
Didn’t Anise assign him to us after the attack on the Pale Tree?
All I remember was her asking Canach to join the pact, not to team up with the Commander personally. Regardless, you go through 4 more story episodes after that without Canach making an appearance, so for him to show up now with no explanation is unusual.
This isnt the only map. There will be more they just haven’t said how many.
Where did they say there will be more than one map? All I’ve heard is this is one map with three different levels so they keep trying to sell this one map as three when it’s not.
They’ve said that the expansion’s new zone will be smaller than typical MMO expansions, focusing on quality over quantity. Additionally, they’ve said there are three biomes. Finally, Colin mentioned that not all of the jungle maps will feature all three biomes over in a reddit thread. From that you can infer that there must be at least two maps.
Stop comparing the beta to the end product we aren’t seeing every map in the betas how many times do devs need to state this we are seeing 25% of Verdant brink for betas to stop Anet ruining the story.
People really have a problem with reading posts it seems….I don’t care about the size of Verdant Brink or any other map section. I simply want the sections to be more like the 100% completion zones rather that the simple locations like Dry Top. Also I’m not comparing the beta to the end product, but the beta should give me an idea of what to expect. From what I’m seeing in the beta I no longer expect to get the zones I want.
…Your first few posts were about how much other games increased the world map size and how many maps they added, as well as how many maps were in other zones in GW2 and complaining about “small season areas”. If people think you care about map size, it’s because of the things you’ve said in this thread.
Beyond that you’ve talked about wanting maps you can get 100% completion on, while being very nebulous about what exactly it is you want for that. There are points of interest, waypoints, and mastery points that work like skill challenges. I would assume they plan to add vistas, since even Dry Top and Silverwastes have vistas. I’m guessing there will be rewards for getting 100% map completion in the new zone.
If you want renown hearts to work towards, you’re out of luck. The new zones are going to follow the same model as Orr, where instead of hearts you have lots of dynamic events and event chains.
Well, I can’t speak to PVP, but in PVE it seemed quite strong and was a lot of fun to play.
Also, what’s this about no 25% move speed boost? Signet of the Locust is a thing, right?
I’m not even into roleplaying and I wish GW2 had more emotes.
It is difficult to say, the blog post was very vague with regard to the Revenant:
“Players who have pre-purchased the expansion will see a new button appear on the character creation screen that allows them to create and play a fully geared, level-80 beta character of any race for the duration of the weekend.”
But as to whether or not that includes the new Revenant, I can’t know for certain. I do doubt that they will be ready though, as the last beta was not that long ago, and I don’t think the time frame was long enough for them to finish it for this beta.
But then again, I could be wrong.
But then again the build we had in the last stress test was obviously very old (for once it used the old trait system, despite ANet had been working with the new system for quite a bit there, so they had way more time than just the time since last stress test to finish them
I think he means the last time we were able to create beta revenant characters, which was much more recent than the last stress test. Revenants had the new trait system there, but were still restricted to humans.
Thieves have been complaining about getting “No valid path to target” when shadowstepping, even when there’s nothing in the way. I imagine this is a related problem.
Not a single one of you actually read what I said. Reader comprehension lvls at an all time low. I said they are telling us to put away our pets/minions because they leave graphic residue behind when they die. I didn’t say anything about pet control (tho I would like to see more of this – who wouldn’t).
If not a single person comprehended you, the problem may not be with reading comprehension but with your ability to communicate clearly.
There’s a lion statue standing over the portal to heart of the mists. It’s like the first thing you see in the little flyby cinematic when you first enter the city.
If there’s anything I’ve learned working with financial software development, it’s that surprisingly small amounts of data can be used to identify a person.
Anyway, I’m not terribly concerned, and if there’s nothing I can do I will live with it, but not using my last name and first initial in my display name is a precaution I would prefer to take.
So, Gaile is quoted as saying you can change your display name if it’s your real name. Does that include a display name like mine, with my first initial and my last name?
I had tried getting it changed with a support ticket, but was simply told that I could not change my display name, and when I asked support if my usage of my last name and first initial didn’t count as using a real name I wasn’t given an answer (they just repeated that display name changes are not allowed).
I’d really rather not be using my last name as part of my display name, and I would think that qualifies for the exception Gaile mentioned…
It’s obvious that they are currently planning to involve an RNG. “…salvaging each type of item, like gloves or weapons, will yield different results, but all will provide a chance at the new ball of dark energy salvage item…” (emphasis mine)
It seems pretty likely that ascended salvaging is primarily aimed at rings, which are ridiculously easy to get through fractals. On top of that, they’re making low-scale fractals more welcoming, so getting those rings will be even easier. The fact that you can salvage armor and weapons looks like it’s mainly for people who already have all the ascended armor and weapons they want, allowing them to salvage the rare random ascended drop instead of just vendoring it.
I strongly suspect that crafting ascended gear to salvage is a waste of gold.
See, the thing that these people who are against weapon swapping fail to understand is that you DON’T have to swap weapons. Think of Thief. You can really just stay in one weaponset as a Thief for the entire day without having to swap to a second weapon set. The second weapon set is mainly to give you variety in a fight. If you need to range, switch to hammer. If you need to burst, switch to swords. If you need clear some conditions and get away from your enemy, switch to staff.
It’s all about giving you options not turning you into every other class. The uniqueness of Revenant was always Legend Swapping. Adding weapon swap doesn’t take away anything because you still have a unique mechanic that no other class has.
That does kind of contradict everyone who was saying that Revenants NEED weapon swap. If the class can truly function without ever swapping weapons, then the ability to weapon swap wasn’t a necessary one.
Personally, I didn’t think ArenaNet needed to add weapon swapping to the Revenant. But they did, and I agree that doing so didn’t take anything away from the profession; I certainly don’t feel like they have to take it away again, either.
We should just start a thread on why we all really just want off hand sword plox. Right everyone?
why not focus!
Because thiefs are far away from magic?
Yeah, going into complete invisibility and shadow-stepping is not magical at all!
Mechanics to adapt the nature of a class to simulate a hidden killer in a fast paced game is everything but a dedicated magic school.
All the super-human abilities Thieves use aren’t just mechanics to simulate a hidden killer, but are actual magical abilities. Almost everyone can use magic: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic
My understanding is that Engineer (and maybe Warrior?) is the only profession that doesn’t have any magic abilities.
Plot twist nr 2:
We get a rifle, but they forgot the bullets, so we use it as a club / staff.
We’ll get a rifle that shoots staves instead of bullets.
I tested it on a Guardian. Can you give an example of a specific ability that does this that “Disable Area of Effect Rings” doesn’t change for you?
Maybe it will ignore energy based skills, and simply activate Rebound on the first weapon skill or utility with a cooldown.
at least I hope this.
This would be a concern for Thieves as well. It would suck to blow your Rebound on an initiative-based Thief weapon attack.
Just tested it; “Disable Area of Effect Rings” gets rid of the puzzle pieces ring effect around my AoEs, I’m pretty sure it’s the option you want.
Yes we do mate how quickly people forget.
check the 37:45 mark in that video link
And are we sure they’ve not changed it?
I’ll admit, it’s not likely they’ll make it something else. But, this is ANet. They change plans all the time.
This is some first-class goalpost-shifting.
It’s not goalpost shifting if its a direct quote from their livestream. The notes of which can be found here -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3eh7gd/tempest_elite_specialization_livestream_notes
What I mean is, Palador asked if there was any proof that Druids were getting staff outside of the HoT preview video. Linken showed that yes, yes there is.
Instead of accepting that there is indeed proof beyond that preview video of Druids getting staves, Palador shifted the goalposts so as to not invalidate the point he was trying to make.
I’m not saying that Anet shifted the goalposts, I’m saying that Palador did.
Yes we do mate how quickly people forget.
check the 37:45 mark in that video link
And are we sure they’ve not changed it?
I’ll admit, it’s not likely they’ll make it something else. But, this is ANet. They change plans all the time.
This is some first-class goalpost-shifting.
Everyone keeps assuming we’ll be getting another class’ utility skill type, but I’m not sure that will be the case. Our existing utilities aren’t shared with any other class so far, and I wouldn’t be surprised if our elite spec added an engineer-specific new skill type as well.
I’m probably going to use the Mecha Anchor for my elite-specced engie. Or possibly the Adamant Guard Hammer.
There are crackpot theories posted every day.
Then there is this garbage.
Thank you for saying I am garbage. When it really happens, I hope you will eat it.
Anyways, it is just my concerns ok. If you think it is garbage, cool. Fine with me as long as I get to say what I want to say. Garbage or not.
It’s fine to have concerns. You could have posted something like, “Leah Hoyer talked about Sylvari players turning. I really hope that doesn’t mean they are going to force PvP into open world PvE, I think that would be a terrible idea.” I would have agreed with you and nodded sagely.
Instead, you posted as if your hypothesis is all but a certainty and started ranting. Now I’m shaking my head at how much you sound like a nutty conspiracy theorist.
I honestly really enjoyed Scarlet and would love to see her as a revenant legend.
Can Revenants only channel dead legends? I would imagine that as long as a person has left a significant impression in the mists they could be channeled, alive or dead.
Without more details, I’m going to assume it’s just a story progression thing, and “even the player characters could turn” just means Sylvari players will have “resisting Mordremoth” as a major theme in their stories.
As I said I’m excluding the combo on purpose, also because you have to stop to use it, so basically defeating the whole point of having swiftness.
I’m just waiting for Roy or another dev to confirm or not that we can use Impossible Odds out of combat for 9 seconds.
Roy has already said that out of combat you get the full energy regen in the new build, you don’t need him to come in here and confirm this for you. Instead of dropping to 0 regen at 50 energy ooc, revenants will now have a constant +5 regen at all times and your energy bar simply caps at 50 energy ooc.
However, I don’t think it solves your problem, because that gives you at best 47% uptime, not 90%. Once Impossible Odds has drained your energy, you have to wait 10 seconds before the energy bar fills back up to 50. So it’s not 9 seconds of super speed every 10 seconds, it’s 9 seconds of super speed every 19 seconds.
it doesn’t matter who killed who at the start , that wouldn’t change the lores course of history the jade winds would of happened anyway and shiro would of still fallen to Abbadon thats how cruel abbadon realy is.
its a real tragedy because it was not shiros fault nor the Emporers so the order of death is not of importance what is important is what events would of Transribed regardless of happened would of happened anyway.
i accualy feel sorry for Shiro as it was not his fault anyway ether way both of them would of died.
i would argue it matters who killed whom, but the point is, you got your facts wrong and now try a spin at it, a rather unconvincing one.
