oh yeah! quite funny because i couldnt even count how many engineers ive pawned since ive played gw2. i havent even beaten by a single engi in a dueling arena on my zerker ranger.
btw, that was the first video i made and my first attempt. i wasnt even playing my best on that video and i was playing in a dark room.
My favorite part is when you LB 5 nothing and also when you let your pet die and also the dodges where nothing gets evaded, and the end when the engineer admits he’s ‘very bad’.
So if Arenanet doesn’t want to change the cap on conditions how about if they just double/triple the damage from condis in dungeons, meaning that if a necro/ranger/engineer can keep up 15 stacks of bleeds on a target they are doing 3000/4500 DPS? This would make groups willing to take at least one condi class and open up dungeon variety in my opinion. Some ranger builds can keep up 20+ stacks of bleeds on a target. Instantly condi builds would become viable and zerker wouldn’t have to be the only option.
Is this a bad idea? It was just something which occurred to me as a possible solution for the zerker dungeon meta

Before, it used to be “oh god, there’s an engi on our team”, because the state of the game was such that there wasn’t a serious engi build.
Now there’s a real engi build.

Actually Engi has multiple viable builds and people play it very well without playing decap like Ostrich Eggs and Five Gauge.
You’re just bad and think that somehow being able to instantly knockback people off point the whole game while being absurdly tanky makes you good at pvp and/or is good for the game.

It’s a whole bunch of changes that don’t in their totality even remotely address the balance equilibrium whatsoever.
The weakest part about ranger power builds, or the thing they are lacking the most, especially with the underwhelming burst options outside of Greatsword, is the inability to remove protection/regen/stability/etc. If we had a reliable, consistent way of removing boons like protection, then even in their current state, power builds would immediately become more viable than they ever were.
It is why thief and mesmer burst builds are so strong; they have readily available means of removing protection so that they can guarantee their maximum damage output. Warriors not so much, but Healing Signet and good damage coefficients and stability access gives them ridiculous staying power in order to keep in an opponents face until they have an opportunity to deal their burst damage.
The other issue is Empathic Bond. No ranger player in their right mind is going to stop running Empathic Bond in PvP or small scale WvW because of the plethora of condition spam and the lack of valuable removal options outside of Empathic Bond.
Until either of these issues are addressed, ranger builds will stay largely unaffected unless the weapons get retooled.
It’s true, Empathic Bond will still dictate all viable ranger builds. How hard would it be to make shouts traitable to remove conditions or to add damaging condition removal to Heal as One? Sigh… Or have more Pet f2s remove conditions…
Overall it looks good, but:
The “Guard” nerf is completely unnecessary, cmon Anet.
Thief is extremely strong in tpvp but requires a lot of dedication to master.
It also is so different from other classes in terms of playstyle/rotations that I would recommend playing only thief (not multiclassing) if you want to get good at it.
Best thief specs right now are Sword/Pistol, Sword/Dagger, Dagger/ Pistol with offhand shortbow on every build

One of my main points in my original was that Thieves/ Warriors force other classes like necros/rangers/engies into running condi tanks, which is exactly what a settler’s engi is.

Let’s be real, there is almost no point to having observer mode in hotjoin unless you wanna have a laugh at the absurd builds people run in there.
Opening up observer team queue could bring in some new shoutcasters to the game. It would also allow new players to find good builds IN CLIENT, instead of visiting third party websites which often have outdated builds.
Allowing anyone to observe high rated team queue games would be good for the game.
And yes, a delay would be needed (1 or 2 minutes would be fine)

Logging in to say Slim has definitely stated the most reasonable argument. This “most skilled” x or y class crap is a load of elitist bull kitten. Not to demean the level of awareness a lot of players achieve. 1 vs 1 situations are more algorithmic than I’m sure a lot of players would like to admit.
When I look at balance I generally don’t look at the amount of skill a class requires but it’s overall power level when compared to other classes.
Some classes/builds will always be easier to get the hang of than others, but for balance it is more important to balance the overall power level a build can achieve.
I think it is important for the game to not have powerful specs that are just absurdly easy to play such as minion necro in 1v1s, but that’s a separate kind of balance. Because ultimately, even though Minion Necro is stupid and rage inducing to fight against, it isn’t a part of the meta right now

Spirit ranger is the apex predator of the tanky-supportive role.
Very strong 1vs1, totally brainless, totally AI related.
Give rangers real utility and remove this AI spam crap. And for the love of god, REMOVE SPIRIT OF NATURE: signet of undeath has almost 3 secs cast, how can you actually believe spirit of nature can be balanced in any shape or form ?
Spirit of Nature, after the nerf to its HPS will be relatively balanced. Not only will its res be able to interrupted, it can also be killed in seconds if focused in a team fight.
Spirit Ranger also is not that good of a 1v1 as warriors absolutely destroy it, and anything bringing sufficient AoE like Thief, Engineer, and Necro should have a chance against it. In fact most teams now are running Warrior as backpoint because it won’t really lose to anything 1v1 in a reasonable length of time.
I also wonder why people complain about spirit of nature when Guardians have been broken/OP res bots for ages with their shield knockback without an ICD.
Also, spirits are not AI. They are essentially signets in killable form that require you to dump 20-30 points into a traitline to make them effective

I think mesmer clones are a good mechanic and ranger pet obviously needs better AI.

The thing that strikes me most is not understanding how the developers work
Since 6 or more months we have been having a heavy Warrior/Ranger – (bunker engi) metaLemme stop you right there. This isn’t actually wrong, but I’d just like to elaborate that when we mention Rangers, we are specifically talking about Spirit Rangers. Every other Ranger build is absolutely horrid right now.
Let me stop you even more… Spirit of Nature.
MM gets a bad rep because too many people liken it to Spirit ranger. Honestly, the spec isn’t that hard to beat. Moaing the Necro hoses that build completely….so does AoE damage….a decap engineer will just decap the pt and then laugh…..a hambow Warrior will just kill the wurm and then laugh…Really, there are to many hard counters to MM to consider it OP imho. Plus, the MM cant go into mid and help in team fights and cover close at the same time due to lack of mobility. So either you get the decap on far if the MM goes mid to help or you win the midfight more times than not due to it being 4v5 at mid while the MM just sits on far all game.
It doesn’t change the fact that every bad necro right now is playing MM because its the easiest 1v1 class in the game
MM needs a nerf, all other builds I’ve messed with (including my theory-crafted own; I generally don’t run meta on necro) are pretty balanced with strengths/weaknesses and rewarding skillful play. MM is stupid-easy, mindlessly effective, and extremely annoying to fight. I say this as a necro who runs a build that murders MMs and spirit rangers (I kill them all with mass DS AoE).

Underwater could be fixed relatively easily by reducing the scaling on: warrior damage, ranger pet res, engineer grenades and necromancer life blast.

Skyhammer would belong in a solo queue that was unrated.
Unfortunately we don’t have an unrated queue.
Reasons:
1. Skyhammer: The map ruins the whole experience and causes rage for both teams.

I think having some sort of requirement for joining tPvp or Solo queues would be great. I know I hate getting new players in my solo q matches. I never tPvp with less than a team of 5 because of the random newb pugs.
Also, I feel preloading skills and armor on a first timer who enters the mist is a bad idea.
Instead when someone first enters the mist all their skills are blank, as well as weapons and armor and provide them with an introductory quest.
The introductory quest
– Purchase a weapon from the Weaponsmith
– Purchase a sigil from the Weaponsmith
– Equip the Sigil
– Purchase starter armor from the Armorsmith
– Purchase Runes from the Armorsmith
– Equip 6 Runes
– Purchase an Accessory from the Accessory guy (forgot his name)
– Equip 5 Utility Skills
– Set your traits
– Visit the Hotjoin guy and play your first matchI know it seems kinda long but I think it will help out a ton of new players.
Yeah, and add a final step: Get rank 20 before participating in any rated queues.

One of the reasons mesmer/ele are no longer meta is because they don’t have condi specs that can deal with warriors/thieves.
Have you done pvp lately? I did and all i see is army of engis/wars/necros dropping aoe all over the point. Avoid it? How? It covers entire area and stays there for quite some time.
Warriors are just kitteng broken because they have no trade off nor weakness.
As far as thieves shutting down power builds is horse kitten. You can go ahead and play a thief i promise you ppl like Caed with wash the floor with your thief on their ele/mesmer etc. In fact, mesmers are best 1v1 class atm.

Who said thieves need to 1v1 other power builds? All thieves need to do is wait until someone uses a few skills in a fight and then rush in and burst them down. AKA training them out of the fight/ turning them into a liability
Saying mesmer is a good 1v1 class is absolutely meaningless in tournament pvp. Mesmer has no point presence and has kitten mobility. If you don’t understand this, that’s too bad.
Also, maybe you need standard comps explained:
1. Bunker Guardian
2. Thief
3. Spirit Ranger
4. Warrior
5. OPTIONAL: Warrior, Engineer, Necromancer
This is the current meta, where thief is a necessity, double warrior is just fine, but it’s completely optional to take an engineer/necromancer.

This skill is poorly designed. Dealing massive damage while evading all attacks on a skill with no cooldown and then porting back to safety with sword 2 is about as easy as it gets.

Thieves are ok, just some limitation on d/p permanent stealth.
Wars are not ok. Healing sig is gross op. 2k hammer auto is op. Prof with 5k hp and toughness built in premium, has top healing, significant condi immunity, chain hammer cc. I don’t get how has this fallen through ante cracks and how can this go w’out fix for so long.
One of the biggest problems I have with thieves right now is that their mobility, both ground speed and combat mobility is just absolutely unparalleled. I would be ok with it if thieves had to give up something to get so insanely mobile, but it’s built into their best weapon sets / utilities.
YES, I realize this is intended to be a part of the class, but for one, it pigeonholes both thieves and other classes because it makes thief by far the best option to decap far point with which in turn means that you shouldn’t really ever bother running something else for far point other than thief.

- no Leaderboard, no Ladder

SoloQ (join system same like it is now)
- Start lvl = played atleast 25 games in unranked Que (50?)
- start MMR from unranked Que
- no unCompetive Maps like Skyhammer
TeamQ (join 5 people Team only)
- when Waittime for match longer than 5 minutes the team get the message: we dont have enemy for you atm, wanna play unranked game while waiting?

Remove hotjoin add unranked queue? My body is ready. Really this is the kind of bonus that league or any other e-sport has. The casual base plays exactly what the pros do. Hot join is not even remotely the same as an actual 5v5 match. #Esports
But really. Friends don’t wanna go hotjoin together, they wanna queue team q together but then they run into an organize team and get stomped. Unranked queue is amazing for just a casual group of whoever to just queue and have some fun. Would be the perfect place to go and play joke builds too.

I actually like the fall to death mechanic. What makes it seem cheesy is that the side points and the control room are cramped, making it hard to avoid potential knockbacks while also avoid damage.
I’d rather see the glass at the side points moved away from the point a little and the area around the side points enlarged slightly. For the control room, extend it a bit further back by the portal.
Unless Arenanet wants to add knockback and pull balance to their list of imbalances which needs to be fixed, this map should not be in any competitive queue.
