No, but those were the standards set by arenanet. If i’ve won 11 games, lost none and am #1 on the leaderboards what incentive is there for me to play if decay is barely going to effect me and playing a game means I’ll lose an insane amount of ranks on the leaderboards? The way it stands somebody can get rank 1, decide they’ll just afk there maybe lose it in a few days with the new decay system, maybe even not play for a couple of months and then bam, play a game and be back at rank 1.

Many top players didn’t sync queue…. but I’ve seen multiple top players solo queue, and then use voice comms with other people, even while streaming like nothing was wrong with that.

Ive played nearly 20 games today, won only 2 games. A lot of 4v5’s on my team, a whole lot of unbalanced games. My MMR is now beyond kitten, yet still get into 500 – 100 games.

I can honestly say that I am not having fun, and the only reason I keep pushing the queue up button is from sheer frustration. I started at rank 350 odd, with 400 games played.. and now I think I am around rank 1000. I feel useless and completely demoralised.

That’s bad luck :/ I went on a 3-24 streak right before the new system came out.

It’s great for solo queue because it is essentially the same as teammates telling you what enemy is where, which is something they could only do in voice comms, but not while in solo queue.

Past two days I’ve had 6 games that ended 500-450 or even closer I normally got one of those games maybe once every 3 days.

And if it’s only one, how did you decide on that class?

I have the hardest time picking/sticking to a class or build.

I dunno how people can play only one class and one build all the time like many high ranked players do :/ I can’t remember the last time I played the same build for more than 10 games in a row.

I play thief/necromancer but I’m always switching up my build and whenever I get bored I play mesmer or guardian or ranger (and my MMR gets absolutely wrecked)

I personally feel that the fixes to the matchmaking will help fix a lot of the leaving issues.

I have a test account where I play other classes and hang out around the 70-85% mark on the leaderboards and at certain times during the day it’s almost guaranteed that I’ll be put on a team that has other 70%ers versus people in the top 100-500. In my opinion it’s totally understandable when I see people ragequit after we open 50-200 against teams that are obviously going to win.

Why not have titles only usable while leaderboard rank is maintained in the top 100?

Otherwise we will just see an increase of people using faceroll builds to get into the top 100 once for the title and then stop.

Ranger already has great builds for beginners like Beastmaster/Trap. They are simple to understand + learn.

The problem I have is that Spirits simply overshadow all other ranger builds because they can do everything better making the gameplay extremely easy/forgiving.

Heh, I never really did spirit ranger duels because they were stupid. BM ranger duels were fun and there’s several rangers who I know could consistently beat me(although BM ranger duels had very simple concepts to win with). I honestly don’t even know why that version of spirit ranger is called mine as I did not make the build. You’re talking about QQ from a washed up FOTM ranger when I main necro then to add in the fact you’re the one arguing in a thread saying spirit rangers are weak when infact if warriors didn’t exist they’d be on top of the food chain. Hambow longbow is at the very least a class that you can be actively outplayed/counterplayed. It requires basic positioning +combo chain knowledge, unlike spirit ranger.

Also, +1 to the s/d thief with 25 initiative.

do you think a ranger flanking with his bows to deal bleed is not skilled? do you think activating the spirits at the right moment is braindead? i really wanna know truth. thank you.

i think you’re an awful player lol. Ranger is easy to play there’s no reason to deny it. I felt like mashing my face across my keyboard would have accomplished what I already did when I played it with shortbow, and to a lesser extent a/d s/t is ridiculously easy to play too. I still think BM is better than spirits anyways. If you’re getting destroyed with a shortbow by a necro in teamfights you’re doing it wrong.

@Dardamaniac – many people knew about the fear with the boar skull drop, nobody used it as boar sucks kitten pluw enemies could pick up the weapon drops and it’s rng.

Coming from the guy who only been known for playing Spirit Ranger and the nub version at that is rather funny.

If you new anything about me you wouldn’t be saying what you just said. But you don’t your just like allot of Ranger’s played FOTM which isn’t hard, team got good not off your skill as FOTM Spirit Ranger is in every single team and they all do same thing.

Next time read I never said anything about necro’s beating me, also if you ever watched me play vs a necro you would see how I almost 100-0 most necros due to how easy it is to counter play there condition spike.

One last thing, BM is our worst build in SPvP if you tried playing other builds besides ones that are FOTM you would already know this and wouldn’t of said BM build is better.

I played backpoint, at the time ranger was the most efficient backpoint. If you want any reasoning as to why I played that version of spirit ranger feel free to ask and I’ll explain to you why it was strong it’s a pretty simple explanation.
Plus I watched your video for goodness sake and you’re kittening terrible mechanically(HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!) and there’s no denying it really. I didn’t actually start off by playing spirit ranger, I played BM ranger which was kinda fun. The build still actually is viable and strong in 1v1s, and no not that kittenty NA version where you run around with a shortbow.

And finally, I don’t think I’m an amazing player. I probably got carried by my team mates through most of the game I’m sure. But you’re somebody who actually thinks they’re amazing at the game when the majority of the competitive population quit/can’t be bothered to practice for it and you’re picking up the pieces. Plus you’re playing one of the most braindead specs in the game. Spewing random bullkitten about how you get destroyed by engineers, when guess what? I could consistently beat an amazing engineer player with a beastmaster spec in a 1v1 scenario. Are you talking about plague form? Nothing is making you stand in a necros plague. It’s extremely easy to kite. If a necro actually killed you while in plague form, there is nothing I can do for you, sorry.

I like the guy who said " Frost spirit can hit 6-7k damage," when that spirit has no damage. GJ bro talk more kitten about rangers when you don’t even know what your talking about.

Doesn’t our Elite do 320 heal per second and can be killed rather fast.

Er in a previous post I said storm spirit, frost spirit was a typo. No spirit rangers take frost spirit anymore because storm spirit does that much damage.

I like how the only comeback you have to all the logical arguments I included in my post is that I made a typo and that spirit heals for 80 less per second than what I said. So good. You should join a debate team.

Doesn’t change the fact you stuffed up. So don’t tell someone to join a debate team when your one who kittened up here Mr Necro.

Also, just tested out elite spirit. It does indeed heal for 480 on a carrion spirits build. Look who stuffed up. Guess one of the ‘top’ spirit rangers in the game doesn’t even know what his abilities do. Go figure.

you play a necro, right? do you think necros are more balanced? do you think dealing multiple conditions are ok? i really wanna know. thank you.

Let’s see:

1. Necros are weak to power attacks/burst. They have no access to protection. They also cannot spam evades or disengage with swiftness. They also have no passive healing, making them the easiest target in any midfight to focus down.

2. A condition necro has no power burst damage. Frost spirit can hit 6-7k damage, pet can also deal substantial damage especially in 1v1s

3. Necro doesn’t have evade spam (sword 2,3, dagger 4, shortbow 3) /ridiculous traits like Natural vigor

4. Try spamming 1 on necro and see how many 1v1s you win.

5. Necro cannot self res, they also don’t bring massive team utility ( Sun Spirit is like Dhuumfire for your whole team).

6. Necro has an easily interrupted heal and it’s other condition transfers (dagger 4, staff 4) are ACTIVE. Not passive like spirit ranger removal to pet.

7. Check the number of necros on top teams vs the number of spirit rangers on top teams.

As a side note, ranger is my 3rd most played class after thief/necromancer. It’s what I started the game on and I’ve played ~150 tournaments on it. I don’t have anything against the class. I merely think that the carrion spirits build brings far too much to the table and is the worst offender of evade spam, passives, and AI abuse in the game currently.

I already told you everything you are going to hear in this thread in another thread.

Spirit ranger is the easiest class to play and be extremely effective.

Why? High protection uptime, high burning uptime, amazing team support, self res+team res two times per 180 minutes. Massive healing for your whole team (400 per second equal to an extra healing signet). Evade spam. Burst damage from storm spirit. A great heal. condition transfer to pet (purely passive and amazingly good against condition classes).

Spirit rangers are an abomination. The common carrion build which uses shortbow+ sword/dagger can win 1v1s purely by spamming 1+ using evades whenever off cooldown. To win team fights with a spirit ranger all you have to do is show up and suddenly your whole team has 400 HPS, burning and protection.

It’s ridiculous

I’d rather all amulets just be replaced with one scalable amulet that you can set your stats to any number in between a predetermined ratio.

There would be a total stat amount you took and each stat would have a limit on how many points you could get in it, but then other than that you could get whatever balance you wanted.

I feel like a non-rated, anything goes queue would be a lot more laid back and appeal to PvEr’s who want the Champion titles for their character. It could even have Raid on the Capricorn in the rotation and replace hotjoin entirely.

Not only would this prompt people to purchase more custom arenas, I think it would be a better experience in general.

Better quality can mean what ever you want. E.g. only one or two warriors at most.

If you have an opinion on what a good match should look like, please share it.

Unfortunately, if you are behind by 200 points you will usually lose. A resign option could be implemented where a majority of 4 would have to accept the resign for it to go through.

I rather not encourage the community that mentality to throw in the towel prematurely. Soon it will be “oh, we wiped on our first initial team fight, guess its a loss”. Also rather not have people start voting mid match lowering the team morale.

That’s why I suggest only having a resign option if you are down by more than 200 points (and are going to be at a huge disadvantage for the rest of the match).

I think it is clear that more blowout matches which are aborted early = more time for people to requeue and play good matches, meaning shorter queue times and a better overall experience.

Thieves have lousy sustain, lousy burst and lousy DPS in general compared to a number of classes.

I’d say they actually RELY on getting an initial advantage to be able win a fight. As much as you whine and complain Fortus, Arenanet isn’t going to nerf backstab.

I play on both NA and EU. EU queue is a bit faster than NA. However, I am already waiting 5+ minutes for a match now. During offpeak or non-prime hours it will be 10-20min wait or longer.

The higher up on the leaderboard you are the more likely you will sit this long for a match. The system seems to try it’s best to find a matchup but eventually gives up and gives you much lower ranked players after a set amount of time or whatever people are available.

I’ve watch twitch stream of people queuing and see them getting into matches before I do even though I queued before them while watching their previous match.

Don’t think you can improve the wait time unless leaderboard is fixed. The top 1000 is filled with inactive players or people just sitting on their positions with occasional games to reset any decay.

Unfortunately, if you are behind by 200 points you will usually lose. A resign option could be implemented where a majority of 4 would have to accept the resign for it to go through.

Personally, if I have a game ending somewhere around 400-500 or closer that’s generally a good quality match.

I don’t mind waiting for 5-10 minutes for a match like that, but not much more than 10.

i’m done with this thread. this nerf surely made a lot of rangers unhappy. anet should had nerfed spirit rangers to oblivion if that’s what everyone was complaining about. one class gets a viable build and they just take it away like that. rangers are bad in pve not even considered useful in wvw. pvp is the only place that we feel we can be useful but no, we can’t have anything at all. zero. totally fair and just.

Ranger class in PvP has had a long line of overpowered builds carrying mediocre players. Ranger is also totally fine in PvE and is actually taken in speed runs now. It’s also fine for WvW, both zerging and roaming: You see plenty of roaming rangers and rangers are also taken in GvGs.

Nothing I said can be remotely classified as mean. However, you are another person defending an overpowered build because of your bias toward your main class and that will always get on my nerves.

I play thief/necro. I understand the nerfs coming to these classes and I don’t mind because they are honestly helpful for this game’s pvp. The same goes for the minor nerfs to spirit ranger. I actually quit playing my necro in tournaments after the Dhuumfire buff because I knew just how facepalm overpowered it was.

anet just hates rangers. how many times do they have to nerf spirit rangers? 3 sec sun spirit proc and 33% damage decrease to storm spirit will obliterate the only viable build on a ranger.

power ranger build is never gonna be viable since rangers don’t have much burst damage compared to other classes (thieves, eles, warriors etc…). this nerf is unneeded. it’s time to roll another class and say goodbye to my ranger.

please, reroll now. if spirit ranger was the only ranger build you could play, a different class is probably the best idea.

Spirit ranger embodies literally everything that is wrong with GW2 pvp.

First of all, it provides crazy support while also having amazing potential for winning 1v1s versus a variety of classes. This is already an example of bad design. Support builds should have a chance to win 1v1s with skilled gameplay, but should generally be at a disadvantage.

The spirit elite is the most broken elite skill in the game. 400 healing per second+ two free ressurects on either yourself or multiple teammates in a 900 radius? This is legitimately ridiculous.

The 33% damage nerf to storm spirit should be 75%. I’ve had this ability hit 6,000 damage on me from a guy wearing a carrion amulet. Let me repeat this: 6000 damage from a guy wearing a carrion amulet. That’s more than I Backstab for generally. It’s totally absurd and makes me angry just thinking about this build.

Spirit ranger is also a primary example of dodge/evade spam with Natural Vigor, vigor uptime, and 3 evades on Sword/Dagger along with 1 on shortbow, all on low cooldowns. Not to mention it gains protection on dodge. In addition to being an example of evade spam, it’s also an example of reliance on passives as well as AI.

Finally, Ranger isn’t a weak class. There are actually plenty of viable builds being blotted out by just how overpowered the spirits build is. Nerfing spirit ranger is totally necessary for the ranger class as well as PvP in general. It should be nerfed more just due to how easy it is to play effectively.

exactly what you said. we rely on our storm spirit for burst damage. once that was taken away, we are left but nothing.

btw, i can play any build there is on a ranger but all of those other builds are selfish. they offer no support for the team. kite from a hard to reach area hoping that the tankers will last long, hoping nobody from the other team will notice. just pathetic. spirit ranger build puts rangers in the frontline. that’s what we want.

it’s really sad what they are about to do.

At this point, I’ll assume you are trolling.

Your damage as a spirit ranger should come from bleeds, burning and your pet. Not 6k crits while wearing a carrion amulet. If you were wearing a berserker’s amulet and had 30 points invested in critical damage then maybe, MAYBE it would be reasonable for an aoe 6k attack.

Ranger offers really heavy single target focus in midfights which can be used to down people very quickly. It’s also great for backpoint defense (BM ranger and variants).

While I understand that Infiltrator’s strike might be considered an ‘overpowered’ skill, sword thieves already require a LOT of skill to play. It isn’t a build like spirit ranger that has access to protection and a big HP pool while also having tons of dodges. Dodges and engaging/disengage are what make s/d thief work. If you want to go through with this change, please seriously consider buffing infiltrator’s return to remove conditions or make larcenous strike remove boons again. Either that or add a cool trait that effects sword in some way. Otherwise sword mainhand is becoming very, very bland.
