Every profession gets one skill that is specific to snowball fight. We thought it would be nice to retain some of your profession’s style in the game.
And it is! Snowball mayhem is just fine, but people will complain about everything no matter what^^
Asd ANET just don’t listen to these people, they can’t do anything but complaining^^
This JP is just awesome! (well, i would have hoped for a more difficult one since i bested it in around 10 minutes but i guess it’s ok..)
I’m pretty sure that fixed recipes have a 100% guaranteed result. For example take the recipes for promoting cores to lodestones. Or the ones for mystic weapons. They always yield the expected result.
I agree, few-hours long events, boss with zillions of hp..? No ty. Extremely insanely hard jumping puzzle? Yes please
Almost every 0-400 cooking guide you can find on the web lists the location of the ingredients you need to use while leveling, i raised my cooking from scratch to 400 yesterday.
They’re working on a new way to obtain precursors so they’ll probably decrease price. There is no info about when this will happen though so..selling or not, it’s your call..my personal advise is to monitor forum and patch rumors, the price will go up until an announcement of how the “scavenger hunt” works will be made.
That’s imo, that’s what i would do. I’m not responsible for anything you might do with your dawn^^
Regard selling without the TP i don’t know, there is no direct trade option so it’s all a matter of trust. World is full of troll and people like that, i wouldn’t send them my precursor hoping that they’ll keep their word and send me the money, i’d rather loose a 15% on the TP. 100% of nothing is still not much money..
It would be nice, while it would absolutely not be necessary. Most karma is gained via daily potions which already are account bound. In addition, the biggest karma sink are obsidian for legendaries, which are account bound too.
So, account karma would be nice..but definitely not a priority imo
I don’t think there has been any nerf. I got 1 ecto from 3 rares with bltc kit yesterday, then i used a yellow kit (the one with 25% chance) and i got 3 ectos from a lvl 76 rare..
People asking for more grinding O.o
Imo the less grinding we are forced to do the better..i really can’t see how grinding 10h/day the same couple of events can be fun. I can’t even see how showing off your twilight can be fun if all you did for it was running between shelter camp and plink 10h/ day for 1 month.
I’m really looking for the scavenger hunt for precursors. I really hope that it will be some sort of “one time events” (meaning that you’ll have to do only 1 time each one, not that they do not repeat). Grinding again and again the same mob, the same area, the same event is NOT fun. Until legendary will mean this, i won’t even think about it^^
Ok, i’m relieved^^
Actually..what is a scavenger hunt..XD?
So, in the last days announcements and patch notes ANET said that they were introducing a new, different way to get precursors.
I wonder, it was yesterday’s event this “new way”?
I just wanna know, i don’t want to start complaining about how useless a “one time new way” would be in a long term sight of crafting perspectives..
We do not ave any sustained aoe damage. We can’t cast phantasms without LOS → can’t cast phantasm on ppl on top of walls. What can mesmer do now when attacking a fort..?
One of the main issues is that mesmer has only one way (not so sure about that but i think that’s the only class in the game) to get some swiftness. So focus in OH is often an obliged choice. Mesmer lack a direct damage ranged 1h weapon so mh pistol should help a lot those that don’t want to renounce to the swiftness for ranged direct damage (gs) sake. (in pve, especially while leveling, i found gs/staff a kinda cool choice but i had to drop swiftness, that’s quite annoying..)
MH pistol should not replace scepter. It’s a good weapon in some builds (cond confusion based shatter with scepter is awesome in some pvp situations) and i kinda like it.
A mh pistol would be a good add though, there are no 1h ranged weapons a mesmer can use in a phantasm based build for example (scepter keeps overriding your phantasm so no, you won’t use it)
And there’s this: why can the mesmer hold a pistol in off hand only..? is he a cripple..? pistols require no effort in using it, just pull the trigger..it’s not like a thief who can’t use a sword in oh due to it’s weight or things like that..
I dunno, i can’t even log in a character in cursed shore now. With a lvl 20 character in a desolate zone (didn’t see a player in half an hour gameplay) i have absolutely no lag
Same problem here, italy, infostrada and not fastweb though..last days have been a pain in the :*
I’m afraid it’s Blacktide, since it has been listed as full in the server list it’s not the same. ANet should really do something about it, i most certainly won’t pay a world transfer because they has miscalculated the max player a server can handle..
(edited by isendel.5049)
You two guys are changing my way to think the mesmer, i can’t tell how i appreciate it.
I’m definitely going to practice with the staff (as i said i already use it a lot in tpvp/spvp and basically i leveled up with gs/staff (i know, it sucks but leveling is quite good imo)). I was dreaming my little asura mesmer raiding eternal battleground with twilight but it seems i’ll have to go for bifrost:P
Thanks for the great tips, you’re two of the best mesmer i’ve seen so far!
Yeah, i think that in random situations mesmer aoe is ok. I would like though that one of the ppl that say that mesmer aoe is fine in DE zergs (aka orr events) explain me how to do it, maybe i’m just doing it wrong..warden is completly useless in a zerg of mobs that dies in 2 – 3 secs from their spawn..
Great video, great gameplay, great build..thanks dude!
I just wanna ask you a question, i’m leveling my mes in these days (after 150+h of spvp/tpvp with it, i think that i understand the basics of the class now) and i’ll run a shatter build (quite like yours, quite like the one i use in spvp) when i’m 80 both for solo trolling around and for www.
The question is: having massive power and crit dmg, wouldn’t gs be a more bursty choice? I like staff since it gives a lot of defensive cooldowns but i dunno, i can’t choose (i probably play half the time with gs and half with staff in spvp since i can’t decide which is better for my playstile)
I look forward to read your answer, it’s time some decent mesmer help me with this choice:P
Ty!
I use crafting boosters almost every time i level up a profession 0 – 400. It simply increases the crafting experience you gain (more critical success → more crafting experience) therefore it saves time, materials and money (more craft exp → less crafts needed to levelup → less mats → less money)
So it’s not useful, it’s a must have if you want to level up a alt just by professions
Skill based challenges would be easily exploitable and probably a lot less time consuming, also it would be almost impossible to do the correct balancing for it to be fair for all classes and races.
I think that is his point, I mean I would abuse this once i mastered w/e.
Or.. ya know it could be just limited to getting the super item once per charater?
Like the clocktower btw..
I support this. I think that the clocktower is a perfect example of how things should be and are not. 2 min of puzzle awarded a exotic item. 2 min plus (for me) a couple of hours falling down and smashing my head on the keyboard.
This is most certainly more fun that staying 2h farming the same 3 events in orr farming gold coz i need to buy this thing or that.
The barber would fix this and much more!
Loosing hair with certain accessory should also be addressed, yeah..
What do you think?
I think it would be a great add to the cosmetic part of the game. I’m playing an asura female and i don’t like being stuck with the same accessories color (i’m a mesmer, it’s purple), when i dye my armor of a different color (let’s say, red) my accessories remain purple and it’s ugly:P
I totally agree, we need this feature^^
Example of the Ascalon Greatsword on a Norn and Asura…
why they have the grip in the belt?
^ This. If GS dimension is ok (imo it could be a little bigger, just a little tho) positioning is certainly flawed.
Yeah i’ve seen that video but if you notice when he has the gs on his back it’s partially in the texture..so much effort and you end up with a buggy skin..i wonder why so few ppl play asura..Anet should really fix this
Hi guys,
Someone knows how legendary gs look like on asura characters? 9 gs out of 10 are merged in the back due to texture problems (especially playing mesmer, gs pretty much always end into the gown..)
I’m wondering if it’s worth to go for legendary on my asura mesmer, weapons on asura are already too little imo, plus if gs texture are bugged i think i’m going to reroll for a human..
I kinda like the idea of private matches where i can finally do 1 vs 1 with my friends without being disturbed. I find that it’s a useful aid while learning a class, you can pick up a bunch of friends and try different things without worrying of winning/loosing a match or ppl complaining about you joining just to try out a new build.
So this is what i think of custom arenas.
What i think of pvp in general is a bit different.
Custom arenas, which i’m gonna like a lot i think, wouldn’t have been my first choice. It wouldn’t even be a priority for me i think.
I’m not going to repeat what a lot of people already said but GW2, which pvp system has a huge potential, has a terrible need of new pvp modes and maps.
Conquest mode is boring imo, and having to do the same thing in the same maps again and again is one of the causes of my turning towards pve nowdays.
I know it’s not very useful thinking about other mmorpgs now but, in my past experience i always found (no need to hide it, i think that WoW battleground + arena system was far better that the pvp system we have now in gw2) that at least 3 or 4 game modes were available: some pure deathmatch games, some conquest, some ctf style objectives and so on. Frankly, sometimes i see ppl with tiger finishers. I don’t know how they got there, i’m rank 20 and i’m almost got bored of playing pvp for more than an hour..
So who else doesn’t want custom arenas..? I want them, i just hope (i know it for sure i think, i know ANet guys) that it’s just the beginning of improvements and that we’ll see quite soon new game modes and new maps. GW2 is an awesome game, it just lack that spark that makes pvp a unique experience.
I completely agree. I’ve created a norn alt but i couldn’t play it because of her voice
Buying from tp with the only aim to resell it when the price increases is one of the ways for getting money. If you prefer spending hours farming the same event in orr it’s your call. Just don’t try to limit other people gameplay just because you don’t like it/play like that.
I’m sorry if this has already been asked, i’ve just noticed this topic and i confess i didn’t read all of it.
Does MF has some kind of influence in what you get from mystic forge? I’ve noticed a huge change in rewards while using the mystic forge with my thief (around 120% mf) and my ele (0%). I just wanna know if it’s just luck or there is some kind of influence (i used a quite large number of items, something like 40/100 items has gone from green to yellow or from yellow to exotic with thief, almost 0 with ele)
Seriously, this topic again..?
Just l2p dude, with my mes backstabbin’ thiefs last usually no longer than 10 secs. They are basically glasscannons (you need massive power, a lot of precision and critical damage for those hits so no room for toughness or vitality = death), just learn to use your stunbreakers. The common backstab combo uses what’s the only way that build has to stun you: basilisk venom. Blink that and you’re done. You have at least 3 ways of stealthing you (do i have to list them for you..?), use one of them, illusionary duellist, magic bullet, switch weap, ill berserk, 5 and 3 on your gs and the thief’s dead. That’s all..
I play 40% mes 40% tihef and 20% other classes, i’m sure that all people agrees that the backstab build is far from being the most powerfull build you can achieve with a thief. Try killing a ele point defender with a backstab build. And post here what’s your result. What? Your backstab hit him for nothing and he healed that and more with a dodge? u.u
And the list of examples can go on forever, backstab thief is just a noob smashing build. The best way to counter it? L2p^^
Agree, i’m stuck at that step of the storyline too, i found the fight against zhaitan so boring that i’m not going to do it again anytime soon..
(don’t get me wrong, arah story is a great dungeon, it’s only the last part that imo sucks, zhaitan stands still while your party nukes him..it’s slow and boring imo)
Thanks guys.
I didn’t need any confirmation of this, but with these events i had it anyway.
Now i know why i choose this game instead of one of the tons of new mmorpgs released in the last year.
I play mmorpg since the MUDs, and i’m sure i can say that i’ve never seen so much care for player fun in a company.
Keep up the good work, you’re doing it great!
I think that weapons swap should be added to the ele in pve only, with a higher cooldown than the other classes (e.g. 1-2 min).
This is why ele weapon skills are highly focused on something: the staff is, for example, the only viable weapon for event farming (and if you don’t agree, you have never been to orr, where mobs die 2 secs from their spawn..dragon tooth? lol). Staff have the lowest dps in the game against single target and, imo, it’s a kinda boring weapon. I love S/D but it’s still a solo/smallgroup weapon combo imo, it’s mainly fire damage skills takes forever to land.
So i see weapon swapping on the ele a pve-only long time solution for swapping between roles instead of swapping from cooldown sets.
I think we can agree that this wouldn’t make ele more op but just a little more fun to play^^
As title says, is there any chance that soon or later there will be some kind of support for linux players?
Actually running gw2 on wine is simply not a viable option on many systems (mainly due to the massive fps loss, i have a quite nice machine and i run between 3 and 8 fps on wine..).
Other mmorpgs gave us linux gamers some kind of help (for example blizzard’s wow had the option to run using opengl which makes it very easy to run smoothly with wine, mine had a better fps on ubuntu than on windows), it would be lovely to be able to play our favorite game on our favorite operating system, wouldn’t it?
Now i’m not really into this but shouldn’t be simple to adapt the mac client? Since even mac os runs a unix kernel that should be doable..
Well, let’s see what people thinks about this..
I use it on players, and some of them stand still waiting for it to end. They usually complain about how op is that.
Other players just spend their 10 seconds cc running around obstacles, taking almost no damage.
As you see, people being nuked while in moa is not a moa-related issue..it’s just that the world is full of noobs.
In a 1v1 fight the moa is a little more than a 10 seconds pause in the fight, if the victim knows what he’s doing.
I don’t think that a moa is more op than a 20 secs protection buff on a tank guardian while giving him aoe heal capability, or a couple of thiefs that can literally demolish you while the real one sits in stealth..
I use to play my mesmer with at least 3 different builds in tpvp, 2 of them are significantly different from each other (one is condition based and the 2nd is direct damage dealer sword/sword). I don’t feel like i’m forced to play one of them since i end in the 1-2 position with every one of them.
The fact is that with so many skills/traits, some of them are mainly pvp and some of them are mainly pve (for example focus and his warden). Since in pvp you deal damage with phantasms (stacking bleed or with direct damage, it depends) you won’t use a scepter which 1) attack spawns clones that overwrite your main dps source. Same thing can be said for several other skills, just think about mantras..but i don’t see it as a problem since even avoiding some skills that are pve oriented (long cast time ecc) you can still play different styles
That’s the problem..standing still..
The new profession of the next expansion packwill be the “Noob hunter”. It has only 1 skill, no cost and no cooldown. It takes 3 seconds to cast while you must stand still. After that time, it deals 50k damage.
Reading these posts, i’m afraid it will pwn a lot of people.
ANET has to do something about the gem price sooner better than later. I think that cutting it in 2 would be a nice start. Why?
It’s quite simple. The gem system has been introduced in the game with the aim to give people a fair and secure channel for gold purchasing with real money. This would (or would have) avoid the massive black market of gold.
Sites selling gold earn it with bots and account theft, both mechanics that ruins the game.
Actually they sell gold for 1/3 the price ANET sells it, so why should people buy from gems while they can have 3 times (or sometimes much more) the gold they have from anet for the same amount of money?
I’m a casual gems buyer (well, i was before the price had gone crazy), i find gems are (where) an amazing add to the game, often offering a shortcut to boring tasks (like crafting boosters) or some really fun stuff (dye pack <3, mins..). Needless to say that now i’m sticking to the game avoiding gems due to their price.
Very soon gems sales will stop if the price remains the same, it would simply be replaced by purchasing on “black market” sites. Which are imo not secure, not worthy spending money, not trustworthy and so on, but if the price keeps going up, i’m afraid too many people will take their chances with this sites.
Which will mean more incomes for them, which will lead to more account thefts, more bots and so on. I’m sure ANET does not want this.
Mesmer and thief are very powerful profession, especially in spvp. Guardian and warrior are too, but much less people complains about it. Why? Because mesmer and thief have a “strange” way to play. You bloody well know what happens when a warrior stays in front of you with a greatsword, he’s gonna pop hundred blades and you die if you stay still. Being based on a much more complex mechanic (stealth, surprise and confusion) thiefs and mesmers are a way harder to beat for a “casual player” who never tried them. I used to say, when i played WoW, that the only way to know a class well enough to counter even the most skilled players is to play it. People facing mesmers are nuked by their condition damage and they probably can’t event hit the real one once, if they don’t know how a mesmer plays. I play it a lot and i find quite simple with my guardian or my ranger to tear them down, i’m quite fond of saying that nowdays, after 1 month practice, i’m almost never ending hitting the clones.
So the major problem with these professions is, imo, that most people does not know how to effectively face them. It’s not the game itself that is not balanced, what probably is not balanced is the skillcap needed to counter some classes. But ANET has nothing to do with the skill of the players. You can’t fight a mesmer? Play it, play it a lot, soon or later you’ll learn how they play and how to beat them.
People just have no idea on how to play pvp and they complain about everything. If you play as a glasscannon (assuming that you know what this means, which you probably don’t since post like this are flooding the forum) you know that you’re going to take massive damage. You have no toughness, no vitality, probably no utility skills for survival. Every class has plenty of skill or traits to remove movement impairing effects, stuns and so on. If you let a thief nuke you for 5 seconds because you simply don’t know how to avoid it, well dude let me tell you, it’s not a thief related problem. On a single, still target i can do 25k damage in 5 seconds probably with every class.
So, don’t stay still!
Imo, and i play thief as well as mesmer, guardian and ranger in sPvP, there is absolutely no need of further nerfing this class. Every class in the game can oneshot (or so) you if you have 1k toughness and 12k hp.
+1
I’m gonna love this
I’m asking since i’ve just skilled my professions and i leveled up 3 times (26→29), which is for sure more than 25k exp. It has not been counted in the achievement progression which is stuck at the last time i died, so i asked..
As the title says, my question is simple: does experience earned via crafting count for the completion of the monthly achievement “earn xxx experience without dying”?
Thanks
Just wondering why mesmer elite (moa transformation) is a 10 sec cc and rogue one is a 1 sec cc..ok, a moa can move and try to escape but..seriously, 1 sec vs 10 sec..?
