Hey all, just a quick note. Earning higher tiers of reward in the Boss Blitz in the Queen’s Pavilion is a great way to earn Festival Tokens, and Queen’s Gauntlet tickets – the rewards that the other activities within the festival give as well. If you check your inventory, you should see the tokens & tickets you have received.
How do we achieve the ‘Chaos of Lyssa’? Is it available through PvP reward track or AP rewards? Or just extremely ridiculously rare?
You have to do the gauntlet and then pray to rngus that you get the recipe. And then cry. because people have opened thousands and gotten nothing but 1 single festival token. But it is so fun, right?
This is the most concerning, and honestly saddening, statement for me. Is this really the direction the game is going to go? If so I know I won’t make it long and most certainly will not be spending cash on this game in the future. I hope this event was a mistake, but my head tells me that this is the direction the game is going. They can’t let players get too much loot because it hurts the cash shop. Too many players will have enough gold to trade for gems to buy the new items instead of using cash. Bottom line that is what I see and they won’t change that. I love (d) this game and played in every beta I could, stayed up late on release day, and have played many hours. I am truly saddened because I do feel the game I loved is gone.
Wasn’t that what players have been asking for since the marionette fight? Events where a bit of coordination and communication are needed for best results? Anet changed around the events when they added the Boss Blitz to do just this, but players are still zerging it, even though it was obviously designed not to be zerged.
And, I can understand why they took away most of the xp and loot from the events. There was a huge, huge, amount of inflation during last years QJ. If they allowed the same this year, it would put a huge strain on the Chinese trading post. Their trading post market is only a couple weeks old. Can you imagine what would happen if a huge gold injection was put into it this early? It would make the prices on everything ridiculously high, and it would screw any players that join after the QJ is over, since they weren’t able to farm during it.
The same goes with the xp issue. If they made lving too easy by zerging, all the Chinese players would just do that. They would just farm and zerg to 80 inside the pavilion, and they would completely bypass playing the actual game.
I did not participate in the marionette fight so I have no idea. Also our version of the game has been out for almost 2 years it is really unfair to not give us xp and loot because of the China release (if that is the case). Is this how we can expect events for a year while they catch up to us or is this in fact our new event reality?
I was thinking about this and the Pavilion is an attempt at an open raid I suppose. This will never work in GW2. I am all for interesting boss mechanics but it cannot be raid fights. Raids in other games are instanced for a reason. I do not want instanced raids in GW2 that is not what this game was marketed as. Yes make fun fights, no do not make raids. Also in other games you could go the whole raid and not get any loot, but some people did get some NICE loot. So if they want to make it raid fights then give us raid loot. But, they can’t give us nice loot. As I mentioned before this would create too much gold in the game that people convert for gemstore items, or on the flip side make people not need to convert gems to gold to buy that skin they just could not get from the rng gods.
They probably did something dumb like used last year’s gauntlet kill numbers to determine the droprate.
I am sure they did. Not sure why they thought so many people would do it all again this year. And when you die you get nothing. So those tickets are not even a chance at the recipe.
I wish Blitz was a bit more friendly, but in ArenaNet’s defense, perhaps this is the type of gameplay they want to push. I don’t think it’s wrong, but better communication and expectations are required to further smooth this learning experience.

The frustrating thing about the gauntlet is it is so boring when you are trying to get a few of these boxes. You also have nothing to show for your time after this recipe does not drop. The boxes, for the most part, only give you 1 festival token. There is not even a consolation prize for not getting the recipe/monocle. Why can the recipe not be purchased with tokens? They are the only reward you get from the gauntlet you should be able to use them as currency to buy the recipe. It could be a huge number for all I care there just needs to be a secondary way of getting this recipe. The monocle they can keep rare- but this is a new crafting recipe it should not be 1000s of gold. I would doubt that was the intention. The creators of this event really just did not put it together well and do not know their players is what it seems like to me.
I suppose the could keep the rate the same just add it somewhere else as a drop. Why is it the only new thing added that you cannot get with the event currency?
I opened the 50 I had saved before the patch notes went up but after I updated. I got the favor.. so I guess that is something more than a token. I was just really hopeful it was going to be a bug fix for this recipe drop.
So no loot, no xp, and now no talking (socializing the main thing I like in mmos) in map chat even when the last boss is almost dead. This event— I really hope we never see another like it. The funny thing is most people are told not to go over to the last boss to help because it scales too much.. so while you stand around and wait please don’t talk or do anything that would constitute as fun- That is not what this game is about now.
Anet came out and investigated that the drop rate wasn’t bugged. But surely you all remember the Final Rest fiasco?
The fact that there has only been at least 1 drop so far just shows how are it is. Or it may also show that so few people are playing this update? I dunno..
There are more than 1 drop. Also not a lot of people farming it due to tickets costing 20s for 5. All in all its just a bad situation
I think it is a low drop rate.. but more along this. Anet thought more people would do the gauntlet. There is no one up there and no wonder- 1 festival token is what most of the boxes contain. It’s a total joke.
Well the point of the game is to make people spend money on gems to convert into gold. If the items were cheap enough to buy several with the gold you played for, they wouldnt get your money. I’m really not sure what you were expecting.

Blame the thieves last time for farming it so much. I saw so many people announcing getting their legendary during that time.
You know I remember this from last year.. but I don’t blame them at all. They still had to put time and tickets in to it. So maybe the reward was a bit high last year, but people were playing the game at least. It is just a slap in the face to give us 1 token for our time and expect players to be happy.
I was using up my 90+ tickets from last year and got around 100ish gauntlet chances bag, only got 1 ticket of the pavilion. Not worth doing really (I just wanted to use up the tickets).
Yeah I have a few more to use up but wow it is just NOT FUN. It is pretty clear with the lyssa backpiece recipe going for hundreds of gold that the drop rates are garbage. And 1 token lol such a joke. I really don’t need more of these tokens but seriously you get like 15 tokens for losing in the little games they have for 5 minutes of time.
I will be honest I am looking at new games if this is the direction this one is taking. I have been bored for months, but patiently waiting for something because I just new it would be worth it…. and then this is what we got. People say wildstar but you know that is NCsoft as well and I am steering clear of them from now on.

It sounds like your instance wasn’t doing the event correctly then. It is profitable to farm the Pavilion if it is done the correct way.
Not the pavilion- The Gauntlet. You know the single fights that you get the ticket drops for.

I realized what is missing more than the loot- socialization. Last year everyone was having fun and talking in map chat. This year Anet made it a chore. Finish your unfun and unrewarding achievements and get out. Don’t worry about talking or having fun while you are there. Make sure you bark orders and get it done in the time allotted. Thanks Anet! Way to suck the fun out of a game and make it a chore.
I am failing to see how this post has led Anet to decide we are upset with the pavilion because the gauntlet tickets and festival tokens are not showing as loot on our side bar after the event. Thanks for the patch I guess, but that is not what this thread is addressing at all.
Maybe the “no loot” thing was all intentional? If foes and bosses don’t drop any good loot and only the end chest does then that should encourage people to kill the bosses and not farm them?

Sorry just wondering, why is the game pushing to the gemstore with the Pavillion? I’m aware of the constant promotions about the new items and gems->gold conversion but I can’t see anything related to the store in there.
Do you say it because of the skins? Or due to the “lack” of rewards and thus needing to convert gems to actually gain gold?
Lack of rewards goes in with it looking at what we have right now. You have to PAY gold to do the pavilion event. It will be interesting to see how much a person has to put in just to be able to do an event portion of the game once the interest is gone here in a few days. Then you don’t even get the amount of gold back that you needed to start the event. The only loot you get are some tokens and gauntlet tickets from the rare drops off the mobs-btw last year each character you owned got 5 gauntlet tickets to start out so you could do the gauntlet without investing anything up front. The gauntlet also gives horrible rewards this year as well. I did not farm it last year, but I did run it enough last year to get the mini and the rewards this year are so bad.. but hey I think you can BUY the rewards off the tp if rng frowns on you or you don’t get any gauntlet ticket drops. Then we have the mat vendor boxes- which where there last year as well, but again you can buy from the tp the mats you need to try to get these rewards, or again you can straight out buy the skins/recipes of the tp.
So basically, you have to use the tp or have gold to be able to participate in quite a few of the events. You know what my favorite event of all time in this game was- The first Halloween. What happened? Where are these events? We had a cool story to follow and earned a back piece. There were of course the gemstore rng boxes that upset people so they made a mystic forge recipe because they wanted people to have fun and not feel ripped off. You could also buy a skin for a few hours for candy corn- something that you had a ton of so you could at least feel festive for the event if you were not lucky enough for a weapon.
So why don’t we have rewards in the pavilion this year? To many people leveling characters and lowering the prices too much in the TP? Well you could also level a character just as easy through crafting but that takes gold.. and you can use gems to get the gold for that. The prices on mats from this event were not ever lasting – and where should you get all your t-6 mats in the game if you can’t get them there? Oh that’s right the TP feel free to use gems to get gold for those as well. The gauntlet tickets take tokens to get as well- so you can either farm those or just use gold for the mat vendor boxes. It all seems tied to gold and the tp and just disappointing.
This is my take on it.. and I am not even a huge farmer. I can only imagine what the people who really enjoyed last year’s event feel. I only missed 1 reward and will get that and be done with this event. I will say I appreciate the opportunity to get that item, but I just wish that this event was better. I would rather not have a chance to get that item and have an amazing event that I enjoyed in all honesty. I hope there is more of a reason behind all of these nerfs to loot and xp other than to push the gemstore, but as of right now I don’t see it.

It most certainly is intentional as is the removal of xp. It is bad thinking though. In all honesty it just goes to show much this game is pushing players more and more to the gemstore and away from getting things in game. It is disappointing. The first events had their flaws, but they were designed with fun and reward in mind. With the blurb on this event of “Hey don’t forget to turn your gems into gold!” on the front page it is pretty obvious where the game is headed. I am truly saddened at the current direction of this game. I don’t know if it is from NCSoft making more choices and pushing for profit or ANet really thinking this is a good route, but I truly hope we get some of the old game design from the first few months of the game life back soon.
You know what I find the funniest about the no xp is last year you could use the kill streak boosters in the pavilion for some nice leveling. So they improve the boosters this patch and then give you no xp in the pavilion. LOL! WHAT!
I really was hopeful that the forums were an exaggeration. This is the worst living story yet imo. There is no one in the pavilion on the FIRST day. That should tell you how horrible the design is. I won’t even be able to get the achievements for this if it is not fixed. I can’t believe this passed as a good idea. You give this to people who are starved for content?
I see this was not fixed today. I wrote a ticket and they said it was being worked on. Could you please tell me if this is going to be fixed before the ancestral outfit is going to be put in the gemstore? I saw this in a post and I love it but refuse to buy it if it is bugged.
I am hoping for some new skins. I bought a few things just in case.
The data-miners have dug up a bunch of new models for things like ships and minis, but no obvious collection of weapons. They’ve found a bunch of different spears with attached banners, but that suggests it’ll be environmental props rather than new weapons. So, it’s likely that no new skins will be available for Festival of the Winds.
I saw that, but do they usually show what vendors will have for events? Eh I still have my fingers crossed :P
Just glad to see there are more people acknowledging these bots do exist. What was it 6 months ago, maybe longer, when posts would suggest this they were only commented on to say that it was crazy and there were no bots. Maybe something will be done eventually.
The system still doesn’t consider them armor. Their original intention was to look pretty outside of combat. If they were intended for combat, they wouldn’t have been released as Town Clothing initially. What is so hard to grasp about this? The only reason they are the way they are now is because they can handle the other battle animations and people want to use them in combat. Do you see the system damaging anything else when you die? Because it isn’t armor, it is WORKING AS INTENDED!
I know it sucks, but you will just have to deal with it and be flexible. Change your build or swallow your pride for a small portion the game. It’s not the end of the world.
You’re right! How inconsiderate and just down right crazy of me to expect something I paid for to work in all areas of the game. Darn this pride of mine I should just be grateful and throw money away. I won’t use the costume because of the bug- but hey I guess those 700 gems are not wasted after all. Outfits were not intended to be used in combat. What you are seeing isn’t a form of armor, so of course you aren’t going to see it on your clones. Honestly, I don’t know how Arenanet would be able to transfer to your clones. In truth, I’m surprised they don’t ban their usage in any PVP formats, WvW in particular. In PVP, it still lists your class on the map with an icon, but in WvW, classes aren’t laid out in a specific manner. If it’s really such a big deal, just turn it off in those particular circumstances.
Well since they decided to let us wear outfits in combat then yes they are intended to be used in combat now. I will not be buying any more outfits until this is fixed. I really am tempted to ask for my gems back on the bloody prince outfit because I should not pay for something and NOT be able to use it as it is INTENDED. Every other class can wear outfits in pvp why can’t mesmers? It is a bug that needs to be fixed. I am giving it to the 20th and then requesting a refund on a BUGGED item that I purchased.
I like GW2 more than wildstar. I honestly have grown to love the heart system instead of a log book. I also hate all the ground effects in wildstar, it is overwhelming. They have an open beta right now.. and I play it a bit but I am still not far because I get bored with it! I also am just spoiled on not having to pay a monthly fee. I doubt I will ever go that route again unless the game just is amazing to me. I just hope that GW2 gives me some kind of expansion soon. I would love to have a new area with hearts and jumping puzzles to explore.
It looks like they are headed back down in price now. It is crazy how the “high demand” tactic can really pump the price like that. I guess people freak out and think they should get them now?
I have not gone to any dungeons so far. If I really like her after world completion then I would try that out. I was thinking traveler for the speed.. but if they are not going to help me after world completion not sure I want to dump that much gold into them! :p
Hi. I just started playing around with my guardian and have never put runes in her gear. I am just working on world exploration and am enjoying the playstyle so looking to invest in runes for her. What would be the best overall rune if I just want 1 set to play around in- mostly pve with some wvw on occasion? I was looking at strength since I have the trait to have might all the time, but it seems like I am neglecting other things for only 7% increase in damage. Would traveler’s runes be worth it? Thanks for your time!
There are 4 slots you can dye on it. That’s it. Also if you play a mesmer there is a bug and your clones will not wear it. So don’t get it if you play a mesmer.
This is what I see. I have opened tickets before and have never seen this. Maybe I have done something if I am the only one. Edit to add- because of the way it is showing I cannot drag down a selection therefor it is always an error to submit.
Just came to post this. Sad to see this post is almost a month old and it is not fixed. Is this going to be fixed or am I just not going to buy any more of the costumes from the gemstore?
Yeah pretty sure it is an attempt to raise the price to unload. It is working somewhat. It happened before with the toxic krait tonic. I watched this because I had invested in it. It dropped very low and then one day someone placed tons of 1c orders. The price rose maybe 2 silver for a week or so and now they are at an almost all time low with no demand. I would not fall for this with the dyes. I really think it is someone getting ready to dump and they want a high price.
I was hopeful with these and had held on to mine and bought a couple stacks. I was willing to wait months, but then I realized there is no demand outside of speculators for these things. I sold mine and still made a nice profit. It is too risky to invest in imo. We don’t know how they will work as rewards or if they will ever be needed in anything but bifrost. Most people that want dyes will soon learn it is much cheaper to buy the dye you want rather than waste your gold on opening these hoping for a rare. I just knew these would be a gold mine… but I think too many people are banking on that and the price never went down low enough for it to be a safe gamble or for there to be a huge profit like was thought at first.
Type dye in the tp. You can then just scroll down and it will tell you if you have unlocked it. I would go from cheapest to most expensive that way they will almost be in the same order if you don’t finish the set in one go.
