Out of curiosity what would happen if you put these in the forge? Would you get a rare back or a limited edition dye? To scared to try it on my own I wondered if anyone had tried it :P
You have to have the recipes to use it. Celestial pieces are not found by discovery.
I really like blacklight and cobolt.
I am hoping there is one of these again this year… I may be tempted into rng for it
Yeah that is what is confusing to me as well.. you would think that the armor type would count as unique not just the armor slot.
What if you get the Heavy, light, and med chest/legs only, does that still count as 6 pieces?
I think that will work, the achievement tooltip talks about soulbinding 18 unique pieces of armour – so as long as you aren’t duplicating any (ie 2 heavy T3 chests) it should all count as you described.
Thanks!
Yeah just one full set. So for example you could get Heavy helm, chest and legs, med gloves and shoulders and light boots all from the Norn T3 collection and it counts as your ‘full set’ of T3.
What if you get the Heavy, light, and med chest/legs only, does that still count as 6 pieces?
From the wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fashion
Fashion is a category of six achievements earned by purchasing all of the cultural armor sets for each of the five playable races. There are a total of 130 possible achievement points in the category, including the meta achievement, The Emperor’s New Wardrobe; this tracks the total number of pieces you have collected. Maximizing each title requires purchasing six cultural armor pieces for Tier 1, 2, and 3, which costs 128 Gold coin 98 Silver coin or 644 Gold coin 90 Silver coin for all five races, which will also complete the meta achievement.
Thanks I checked the wiki but it did not mention anything about mixing and matching the type of armor and I wanted to make sure before I started trying to work on this. Some armors I do not care for certain pieces so was curious if I could mix it up among characters.
I wanted to make sure that if I bought 2 T-3 chest pieces that counted as 2 pieces towards the achieve not just 1 since they were both chest pieces.
You can mix and match between armour sets and cultural levels to get the achievement. Be warned though, for each culture the total is actually 18 individual pieces for the full achievement – so 90 pieces for the Emperor title.
That is a total of 1 full set from each tier though right, not all 3 of each armor tier set? Because if you have to get all of the heavy, light, and med.. I guess that achieve is out for me :P
Does anyone know if this requires you to buy all of 1 set? That would be all 6 of all med or can you switch it up.. with 3 of say heavy and 3 of medium from t3 armors?
I was thinking about this problem a lot more this morning, and I have some ideas that might be a good compromise between the current system and an “ideal” (player friendly) system, so that ANet can continue to monetize dyes.
- 800? gems for a “Dye Diffuser”, which consumes a dye but unlocks it for your account. You could have it consume a Mystic Forge Stone (50 gems) per use if monetization is a concern. I’d even be happy to pay 50 gems per use just to create a soulbound duplicate of a dye. This way I always have an exclusive dye available, but it’s still per character (and I pay a little bit every time I want it on a new character).
- Mystic Forge recipe involving a dye, which spits out a “Limitless Vial of <X> Dye”, which is account-bound. Using the Vial on a character unlocks the dye for that character (or it could spit out soulbound copies of the original dye – same end result).
Basically, I think the ideal solution in my world is:
- Keep dyes character specific overall
- Allow some way (involving gems) to remove this restriction, especially for exclusive dyes
- The method of unlocking the dye for the account should (obviously) consume the original dye in some fashion
This way you can pick and choose – do I want to buy two Vincent Dyes for two characters, or do I want to spend gems (and potentially a good deal of gold) to guarantee I have Vincent Dye across all my characters forever. It becomes an interesting decision point for every dye, while solving the “exclusive dye” problem.
That would be cool I guess. They need something more to do with the mystic stones anyways.
Anecdotes are worthless, although my 75 unit sample is probably large enough to extrapolate. Look at the market prices.
These new dyes are trading at multiples compared to the release of the last new dyes only weeks ago, or the F&F rerelease about 2 months ago.
I think the green dyes did bad because not many people wanted greens and most of the colors where very close in color. The f&f were on their second go around and most of those where bought either by people who did not get them the first time or investors after seeing how high the prices went the first time they were released.
You did have horrible rng with your kits but I am not sure if the tp is reflecting a new bad rng rate. My guess is that people are not buying the rng kits as often and are just getting the dyes straight off the tp- so there are less available and they cost more. Some of these newer colors are pretty nice as well so I think more people want them.
lol first thought:

Put a smile on my face, ty =)
I will add a question to this request,
What will Anet do once Ascended weapons become more mainstream, and once Ascended armor is released?
Do they think players will use a gem store skin on top of another skin just to lose it?
For exotics it’s easy and cheap (crafted, Dungeon, WvW, drops) to use gem store skins and to have multiple armor/weapon sets of the same stats even. But w/ascended it’s expensive (very for some) and time gated?
I don’t see myself reskin a full ascended set over and over, or have multiple sets of the same stats. Even if I craft a cond/powcrit/support sets that’s still just three skin sets?
I posted about this last week. It is insane the cost of runes and stat gear- it can be anywhere up to 100 gold for a new skin.
I keep hoping that maybe, just maybe when anet does release ascended gear they will have a better system in place for armor skins. The transmutation splitters cost more than an armor set so that is not the way to go. The ascended armor will not make sense to have more than 1 set if it is time gated like the weapons. All and all I love the game, I love being able to chance my look but once that is gone a good bit of what I really like about the game is gone and really not sure what to do after that. Why are we being asked to fork over 10 bucks for a skin that we have to rebuy if a new skin comes along we like? I refuse to buy a skin more than once for my character so I guess I am out of luck if they do not do something about it and will just have to pick a look and stick with it
I completely understand. I have all the dyes on 1 character and honestly it is the dyes over everything else that make me not want to play alts.
I never use some of the colors but I feel like I should have it on my character. I have to make myself not buy them for multiple characters I was broke even before the exclusive dyes because of colors on alts so I guess the exclusive dyes saved me a good chunk of gold because it made me stop getting dyes on alts.
I now only let my newer characters get a full set of the blue quality dyes and that is it. My warrior was the first alt I actually opened unidentified dyes on since the cost of them is so high now. I will probably never play anything other than my mesmer for an extended period of time for the simple fact that I cannot afford to have all the dyes on them.
Some people are into different things. A person can collect minis in this game and resell them if they are tired of them. Even skins you can switch between characters if you decide on a different profession. If you collect dyes it is very costly and no way to recoup the money if you tire of the color.
It makes me sad that legendary weapons can even be sold. I am ok with pre-cursors (although I wish we had more ways of getting them) but something feels wrong about selling a legendary. Doesn’t feel legendary at all.
I can see that side of things but I once knew a person that could not jump in video games it set off epilepsy. Now think if there are people like that playing this game, they will never be able to get vistas to get the gift of exploration. I think it gives people that may have a problem completing certain areas of the game needed for a legendary a chance to have a legendary as well.
It was a bit bittersweet. Anyone else sell a legendary and have mixed feelings about it? Something you would do as steady income if you have the skill points/karma? I doubt I would do it again but that amount of gold is so tempting!
I regret selling a bolt only because the price point went up a few hundred g the following week.
On the + side I made 3 more legendaries with that so I guess it all worked out.
Wow 3 legendaries out of 1 sell. I think that was a great trade lol!
Out of curiosity, now that you have that much money, what are you using it for?
I have one legendary, Twilight, and crafting it was the biggest effort I’ve ever made in any video game. So no, selling it was not an option for me.
I don’t know honestly I guess wait for new legendaries and see if I like one of them and will have some gold to get started on it. I still don’t have 2 crafting professions to 500 so I could work on that. I just want to make sure I don’t waste it so I am left with nothing to show for all that work!

My request, not sure if it was mentioned or not, is the torch blast finisher. Can this be looked at to happen when the skill is activated and not on the end? It is sometimes does not go off until after the combo field is already gone and so you can’t get the finisher
I got it as well but feel like I should be in a rodeo. I like it.. but it just seems odd for light armor. I love the top though!
Hmmm…..I may need to reconsider this set. Honestly everytime I see it I think its atrocious, but it looks great on your character. Maybe my color scheme is distorting my perspective on this as mix and match.
Colors do make the difference. I was sold on it by the top.. the rest I don’t really love but until I can find a bottom to go with them I am playing with the full set.
No you cannot.
I am not sure on that but 1 thing I did learn is not all etched weapons will work for corrupted weapons. Make sure you use the buy from tp option on the recipe to make sure you get the right etched weapon. I believe it is the etched _ of rage for all the recipes but could be wrong so double check!
The game has been out over a year.. I am sure most people that wanted 1 got in. A year is plenty of time to get it. I would not doubt you get your wish though and all the gifts will require 500 crafting in the near future. So there is that.
I would think if you are looking at getting a legendary on a mesmer you would have played one a good bit. That said, do you enjoy playing the staff on a mesmer? If you do then go for it.
I got it as well but feel like I should be in a rodeo. I like it.. but it just seems odd for light armor. I love the top though!
Part of why I love my mesmer
It really is a racket. If they made the transmutation splitters a reasonable cost (or free, which is what they should be) there would be no problem. This is the absolute worst MMO I’ve ever seen as far as cost of wardrobe and/or build changing is concerned. My recommendation is to just find a very versatile build and a look you like, and stick with it. It’ll only get worse when ascended armor comes out.
Well it is not so much the build.. I honestly went celestial because I got tired of changing that part. It is that I love changing my outfit. Maybe I am alone in this aspect? I doubt it though. I just wish in a game about cosmetics that it was more thought out about how to let characters change their armor appearance. I understand the transmutation crystals as a gem store item for income… but really this needs to be redone. The fact that runes can cost over 70 gold and the exotic gear is 18-30 gold makes changing your appearance very costly outside of the gemstore.
I have bought every dye.. gotten almost every armor and a quite few weapons skins because I find it fun to change things up.. which is something that was suppose to be part of this game. The fact that it costs me 100 gold on top of the armor cost to get a new armor set to play with is crazy. There has to be a better way.
How can the transmutation splitters being higher than the cost of a armor set be justified?! In all honestly significantly lower that price and it can all be fine— and by significantly it should be lower than 1/3 the cost of a skin set imo.
I was just thinking about ascended armor.. there is no way I plan on having more than 1 set if it is like the weapons.. so I really hope that there is a better system in place for changing our look!
This is my bank from just 1 character’s outfits (1 set is in her bag as well) . I suppose I could salvage them but some take months to get or I paid for from the gem store and do not just want to get rid of them. I would gladly use transmutation stones if there were a way to not lose these skins I hope it is something you all are looking into not only for bank space but for those like me that like to change their look frequently but are prohibited by the cost of the gear and runes.
Do those rune/sigils sell for what they cost to make or more or do you make them for a loss? I chose to make the sprocket sigils to craft up because in the end I made money off of them and leveled. I guess to each his own but if I can level and not lose money I chose to go that route.
Part of it could be anticipation for the ascended armor. Those recipes are much cheaper to use for leveling vs the alternative.
I am surprised they were not added with the other outfits. I would also buy them
I have no problem with the skin being soulbound per character but what really stinks is that if I want to get this new armor I have to lose the phoenix armor because the set is celestial and the runes are traveler. I would have to pay over 70 gold to replace the runes and 30 days of making the stupid celestial crystals to use this new armor skin. It is cheaper for me to buy a new phoenix set than to use the transmutation splitters and the cost/time of the set I am currently using are too high to make again.
Can we please have armor/weapon skins that are gem store items available more than once on a character that has unlocked it?! Make it character bound if you want it on more than 1 character then by all means make us buy more but for the same character it is not right.
I know this has been asked multiple times but the cost is getting to high to get new sets for each skin. I would think you would sell more skins if people did not have to factor in the rune/stat costs every time they wanted a new look.
I don’t care for it either but if you bought a finisher it gives you a way to use it.
I just realized I do not see these in pve only in the pvp locker. Is there another name for this or somewhere to get the cabalist shoulders in pve? Please tell me there is
Thanks for the reply
So those are pretty cool and a bit freaky lol. I like them
She does not offer to sell me anything only takes the relics. Is she a vendor later or a bug?
-Marjory Delaqua will accept extra Pristine Toxic Spore Samples as trade for various new crafting recipes and a new heal skill at the Thunder Ridge Camp in Kessex Hills.
Antitoxin Spray: This new heal skill is usable by all professions in PvE and WvW. Players can use the antitoxin to heal themselves and nearby allies while also removing toxic pollen, poison, torment, and confusion.
I do not see the skins mentioned in the release notes. Are they not available yet?
Or maybe just not let gold be used to buy gem store items. It works both ways you know. I think it is a nice option for some to buy gem store items with gold and I think it should be expensive.
Yeah.. it is more cooking and jewel crafting that I want to sell the stuff from.. but really just can’t do it since I don’t want to buy it all back in a month or 2 at a higher price. If I knew that it would be later next year then I would sell it and not worry about building it back up. Just leaving us hanging like this is not fun!
Have they said if these are going to be added this year? I am ready to clean out my bank with stuff I am not using but scared to since I may need it in the near future to work on the other professions to 500. It kind of ticks me off that so many things get changed without a time frame and I actually am scared to get rid of excess since I have no idea if I need it or not
I think they will be back. As stated above they are not a skin and all the recipes where available through Halloween.
I would like to put in a request for something firery and dragon related. I have rodgort and the HOM sword so I need a really cool staff to match. Thanks
Because time gating is fun apparently.
The other important point to consider is whether or not the particular weapon skin is considered “cool” by the player base at large. Case in point:
- Ghastly Grinning Shield skin: 820g on TP
- Grinning Gourd Rifle skin: 27g on TP
Those skins only increased so much in price because it appears they may have been discontinued. I had the rifle and sold it maybe 2 or 3 months ago and it was only at about 6 gold. You are still able to get the other skins if you really want them through a vendor so I doubt they will ever reach prices higher than what people think they could get the tickets for.
Also I highly doubt a bot would be joining parties and running dungeons.
This Halloween was just over all disappointing. Last year was so fun. Seems like they just overlooked it between wvw season 1 and the tower update and just threw something in there. Really hope this is not a trend.
I don’t care how it happens, but I would love it if we could do away with all but one or two of the Snowflake materials. They’re extremely confusing, and don’t really have that much to craft with them at each level. At the very least, I’d like to see them renamed/reconcepted to make them more distinct from each other.
Nooooo! I like the different tiers of Snowflakes!
But given what happened with Dragon Bash and Halloween, I think it’s safe to say that (barring a complete 180 from ANet after the Halloween backlash) we will need lots of Wintersday items to craft whatever new items are available then. There is also a near 100% chance that Tixx, IF he returns, will not have the same toy minis he was offering last year.
they specifically said last year that those 5 minis were intended to be obtainable each year
That seems odd though. I was able to make 3 of them and 1 tonic. So I am only missing the cogs for 1 frame. Maybe they will have the frames available again for the ugly sweaters so I can make the rest of the tonics and the last 2 minis.. but I am hoping they add something new for us. Maybe it will be the doylak tonic for me if they are all the same lol
I do not remember them saying that last year though.
These do not seem to effect each other but Chaotic transference says that our toughness is given as a bonus to condition damage. It seems like the increased toughness from the protected mantras should give our condition damage a small quick boost but I don’t see it do anything for them.
Bug or intended?
I notice that the teq chest has brought us rare quality aquabreathers but the stats are not really what I want so sticking with the masterwork one I have. I want to put a rune in it but since I cannot salvage them it is kind of scary to but an expensive rune in there since I have no way of getting it back if a better aquabreather comes out.
Is there any chance we are going to get a better quality aquabreather available to us soon? Are we ever going to be able to salvage these to get our runes back?
