I have leveled 5 classes to 80 and completed every map (thief, mesmer, engineer, warrior and elementalist). I’m working on my necromancer, guardian and ranger, but getting through one map now is like drinking battery acid and chewing razor blades. I have to take a break after this for the rest of the day. I’m about burnt out completely on GW2. Probably wasn’t the best of ideas, but my OCD won’t let me do anything else.
WPs and repair bills are too expensive at 80, that’s for #^
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have 8 characters, one of each class. 5 of them are 80, and I just finished all PvE maps with all of them yesterday. That’s 301 hearts x 5, so far, and altogether I have about 60 gold between them. That’s not really a whole lot, because buying mats to make exotics would make me go completely broke just to gear out one guy. That’s not an option for me, and I’m not exactly Wall Street 1% material. That’s why I’m a thief, but unfortunately I can’t literally steal my way to a rich life in the game, so…
The bottom line is, my thief is in berserker armor and weapons, from about a month ago when the trading post prices weren’t ridiculous. But I have rare jewelry on. Toughness with beryl gems in the slots, for now. I did this so I could survive Orr and the ludicrousness of that place, but I haven’t set foot in there in a few weeks, now. I’ve been running around with a sword/pistol and a shortbow. But you see, I want to start doing WvW, now, and from all I’ve been reading, sword/pistol in WvW is just too silly to consider. Dagger/dagger seems to be where it’s at, right? The ole’ backstab build that everyone has been complaining about. Or has it been nerfed into the ground? Either way, I need to make a decision, and I literally can’t afford to make a mistake. I have orichalcum and gems to make my exotic jewelry, and I have barely enough blood to make two exotic daggers. Trouble is, I don’t know what to do. Is glass cannon for me? I don’t really like dying, and how long until all my repair bills cause me to become a beggar in Lion’s Arch? Is there even a way to be sure, without going broke to find out?
I leveled as condition thief. When I got to Orr, I had to stop. But I was running around in ravager gear, like a noob. Don’t do that. Carrion gear really is the best for a condition thief, because of the vitality. Not to mention that for carrion gear, condition damage is the main stat, so if you have all carrion gear and chrysocola jewelry, and the bottom tree maxed out for +300 malice, you’ll probably bleed the beep out of things in a matter of seconds. But I hear this isn’t good for WvW. Just lay down the caltrops and spam leaping death blossom with dual daggers.
I don’t see how the prices will ever shift. The only reason they are so high right now is because all of the bots got the boot. Saturation gone, prices in skyrocket mode.
250 silk scraps + 1 gossamer scrap + 5 piles of crystalline dust + 5 philosopher’s stones = … 20 gossamer scraps.
50 vials of potent blood + 1 vial of powerful blood + 5 piles of crystalline dust + 5 philosopher’s stones = … 6 vials of powerful blood.
Guess I should have sold the mats instead.
I believe this is actually called the miss miss miss build. So named because when you use the flamethrower, your overhead floaty text is spammed with miss miss miss miss miss miss.
“You just have to adapt.” I bet you’ll be one of the first people to gladly accept the RFID chip.
The only thing I want for Wintersday is for it to end. Every day gets worse in Tyria, thanks to the increasingly (idiotic) ridiculous toys.
What is the absolute best grenade build you’ve ever used? I think mine lacks precision, but you have no choice since you must fill out the power tree completely in a grenade build.
In World of Warcraft, the mage is their baby because GhostCrawler plays a mage. In Guild Wars 2, apparently someone high up in the power chain loves their warrior. Maybe their name is QuagganHuggles?
Every gear type has a primary statistic. It seems that Rampager’s is precision, and Carrion is condition damage (it also has vitality, which you can never have enough of). Personally I’ve been experimenting since beta, and still don’t have “the best build” figured out. You can either do a lot of damage, but not survive very long, or you can survive for a while and do mediocre damage. Or you can be somewhere in between, which is also mediocre. That’s just my cynical take on the whole mess.
The toy ventari I ran into today were in Fields of Ruin. They were taking my engineer down in about 4-5 seconds, and I’m 80 in all 80 rare gear. Some players waited until I opened the box, then ran in to grab the present while I got slaughtered. Just goes to show what a nice community we have in GW2, and how thoughtful Anet is for putting such overpowered garbage into a regular holiday event.
My warrior has been stuck in magic find gear, thanks to a guide I followed on how to create a 100% MF set (Rare with Pirate runes). Then the trading post prices for everything grew like Cartman in a Twinkie factory. However, my other characters are in regular gear. Sadly, I see no difference between my warrior’s drops, and theirs. I get a lot of white trash drops, the occasional blue or green, and a yellow when a sociopath somewhere in the world feels an emotion (not very often).
Nycthemeron, real world money is also fiat currency, which is why the economy in the U.S. is sliding down the tubes. It’s called Fractional Reserve Banking, and it’s a scam. But, as I recall, a developer blog stated that they wanted the in-game economy to be the same as the real world economy. Congratulations on a job extremely too well done, I say.
Nope. Never noticed the lack of security in this game. Well, other than the fact that GW2 had a record number of hacked accounts in its first couple of days? Nope, haven’t noticed.
Yeah, a dye dropped for someone, and the server crashed.
Ever since they cracked down on the bots, the prices on the trading post have gone up by about 900% (a little exaggeration, maybe). I remember the Abyss dye being somewhere around 5 gold. Now it’s, what, 17 gold? LOL! What these greedy kitten fail to realize is that no one is going to pay those outrageous prices. Money doesn’t grow on trees, especially in this game.
The only people who don’t at least read the forums, are casual players, and people who generally don’t care enough about the game to be bothered. People who say we are the “vocal minority” are only trying to convince you that all the complaints here are from “the minority,” and that things are nowhere near as bad as they are reflected here. Wrong.
If she moves around, why doesn’t the heart icon on the map move with her? If you go to where the golden heart icon on the map is after completing it, all you’ll find is a turret with her name on it. She does sell a master work chef recipe, but I personally cannot buy it on my server, for she is never there. Apparently, she’s been missing since the game launched.
She’s gone, for me. Just a turret where she should be.
Francis is king!
I would much sooner base my purchases off of customer reviews, than from a paid-for review at some website like Gamespot.com. The explosion that happened over Spore (and Mass Effect, for that matter) was because EA was telling its customers, “You don’t actually own the game.” Remember the DRM that only let you install the game no more than 5 times? Yep. One thing you don’t do, is mess with your paying customers. Keyword is “paying”. Once you breach the point of no return, it’s too late. And I’m afraid that Anet has stepped on a lot of toes recently, so I would not be surprised if the game suffers for it. I’m kind of wondering who thought this was such a brilliant idea, anyway? Did someone sniff bath salts?
It’s funny you mention it’s like we’re being trolled every time we log in. I’ve been thinking that for a long time, now. “Our goal is to inconvenience you!” should be the tagline for this game, really.
Well then I feel bad for all those with 100% world map completion, having to run around the entire map again to reclaim the title.
So… I see 3 points of interest in Lion’s Arch are not discovered and I’ve gone from 100% completion to 95%. Any other surprises I should be aware of?
Fixing the old content first would have been nice. My level 15 alts are running into the same bugged out events and skill challenges my 80s had to dance around back in head start.
The oldest game I ever played that had legendary weapons with stories attached to them… was Dungeons & Dragons. And I don’t mean this newfangled crap today, I’m talking about the early 1980s stuff. So it is not a new concept that needs to be explained to anyone at Anet, considering their lore writers used to write D&D material. I think you are right. The mystic forge is a rushed idea, and it is lazy. Currently it is like a giant, infected pimple on an otherwise great butt (the game).
When I was researching this game years before it was released, all I ever read was how it was going to be different (and better) than other MMOs. One of the attractive points here was that endgame gear could be gotten by any way you wanted, whether dungeons, world drops, buying it with gold or karma, or making it, but either way, all gear would be equal, right? Clearly, now that is a lie. Everyone in WvW running around in this new armor (which is better than any other armor) will have an advantage over those who aren’t running around in it. No matter how small the advantage, and advantage is still an advantage. This is pure garbage, ANET. This is… revolting.
I have killed those earth elementals near Pagga’s waypoint every day for weeks, now. I’ve never seen a loadstone drop, ever. In fact I don’t have any, period.
You don’t even have to be talking about legendary weapons to be right.
Orr is just one example of an idea that Anet thought was great… but were wrong.
It does help a bit. The last time I read the wiki was back before head start, and there was no formula for precision. I guess I had better read it all again if it’s been updated.
And ASP, I think I have the same build as you. I have 30 in Critical Strikes, 30 in Acrobatics, and 10 in Shadow Arts for Master of Deception. I’m a fan of Shadow Refuge. I’ve been running Sword/Pistol and Short Bow for a while now. But you know, I used to run around in pure condition gear, dropping caltrops and spamming Death Blossom. But… 2 or 3 hits, and I would go down in Orr.
It’s not just the traits that baffle me. I think the gear is the biggest mystery for me. Number crunching. Does anyone actually know for certain, what does what? For instance, how much Precision = 1% critical chance? How much Toughness is enough? That sort of thing.
I don’t know what my problem is, but I am thinking I have too many characters. It’s the same song and dance as in other MMOs. I want to have everything, and I pay for it by getting tangled up like a cat tying itself up with yarn while jumping around in circles. It could also be because I don’t fully comprehend statistics in this game, and how important they are, and how much is enough. But whatever it is, it has left me with 5 level 80 characters, and not knowing what to do with anything of them. Regardless, I like my thief. And I want to make him work. And for him, I crafted my first set of exotics, Berserker’s armor and weapons. I have not crafted my jewelry yet, but I am wearing rare Knight’s/Emerald jewels for the toughness. I have found that while running around in Cursed Shore, no toughness means going down in 2 or 3 hits. I really don’t know how these glass cannon types do it.
Well, what I’m trying to say is, I have comfortably fallen into a cookie cutter build for sword/pistol. A critical hit/damage build with good survivability. What I am left wondering is, how am I supposed to do PvE and WvW with one build/gear set? And also, as I am running around in cursed shore today, a rather attractive white-haired lady thief with green daggers comes up besides me and 2-shots practically everything. It’s amazing to me. I see their health bar, then I don’t see it, just as quickly. And I think to myself, “What the kitten!?” How did she do that? I’m in the wrong build, I think. But I am too stupid to know how anyone does this. And gear is too expensive to make. I can’t afford to make anymore mistakes. What do I do? :-(
My warrior in full magic find gear out-damages my pathetic thief, by a long shot. And my thief is in full berserker gear.
"Raw Candy Corn" harvesting nodes briefly visible after Halloween special event
Posted by: jwburks.9735
I have seen raw candy corn nodes appear suddenly, and then vanish just as quickly. Kind of reminds me of the movie projector scene in Fight Club. I wonder if anyone has been fast enough to actually mine these ghost nodes? That should be an achievement.
My guild is also gone. I was playing with my girlfriend, who sits right behind me at her own desk. We’re both online, but it says we’re not online in each others’ contact list. We can’t group up with each other. Her guild is still there, but mine’s gone for good, it seems.
If it isn’t Frank Welker doing his voice, I would be extremely surprised.
What!? Smelly, foot odor-contaminated slippers aren’t good enough for you? You will eat your smelly slippers and like it!
I beat the stinking clock tower. It’s true that after you do it once, you can do it over and over from then on, but still if you make just one mistake, it’s over. And just because I finished it repeatedly doesn’t mean I appreciate it. I hated it then, and I hate it now. But I have OCD and so I had no choice but to finish it on all of my characters. I curse the memory of it, and its conception.
Yeah the rewards were not worth it. By far the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in a video game, and I get a pair of smelly slippers and two tonics.
I had the same thing happen to me. I jumped into the room, started walking toward the chest, and suddenly the cut-scene is there, and I’m at the beginning again. Happened to me twice.
They’ve said that you don’t need it, but they say a lot of things.
I did it with all 8 of my characters. But before I got good enough to do it, I have since thrown things across the room and cursed enough to make a sailor blush. Even now that I am done with it, I still say it was TOO MUCH. Too much for the average player. Only insane people like me have enough… I don’t even know what to call it. Insanity. And I may have a heart attack, now. No joke. If I ever see something like this again, I may blow my brains out.
The power outages have already begun for me. I’ve lost power 3 times today, and internet for 20 minutes. Next time may be permanent. No telling when it will come back again, when it happens next. Could be weeks. I guess I won’t be completing the Halloween achievement this year. May even die, for all that’s being said about Frankenstorm.
I only had 1/4, until I went down into the dungeon that used to be the golden lion statue in Lion’s Arch. Then I had 2/4. Had you done that yet?
I mean for “It’s a Mad King’s World”.
17 hours? Nonstop? I would get thrown into rehab for something like that.
It’s garbage. Pure garbage.
