MIA it is not a festival…What you really want to say is you want ANET to get back to the actual story of GW2. I agree wholeheartedly and without reservation, but BOTW was not a festival.

We’ve argued about whether or not it is a festival for a long time, but it really doesn’t matter, regardless of what it’s called, I just included it in the group of festivals because they all have the same feel to them, relying too heavily on mini-games, and not enough on the plot. To one degree I was very happy about how much content in Dragon Bash was related to the actual story, so many instances, and even a dungeon, it was in the right direction. Yet even that was shallow, from the point of character development alone, it was heavily lacking. But then the following two chapters, had little to no instances at all, completely vying to mini-games. The GW2 staff cannot stay consistent, and actively develop what works.

Yeah, that is where I am at basically with Anet also.

Nothing. We will have the celebration and Anet will hint at some obscure part of the LS that connects to the main story. The hint will be interesting but it wont do much in the way of actually giving us pertinent information about what is going on in the grand scheme of things. Two weeks later rinse wash and repeat.

I don’t want to be the one raining on people’s parade before they even grab their confetti, but remember cojo-I call him cojo were close like that-said that the answer to raiding is underway? I didn’t see It explicitly mentioned in the post. Did I miss it? Or was ikittend of cryptically stuck in there? Or was it just not mentioned at all? All in all I’m excited to see where this takes gw2 but wanted to see if maybe someone had insight into this.

Mounts - Hear me out!

I do not understand the anti mount argument…A faster way to travel that doesn’t ruin the immersion of the game the way waypoints do? I am all for it. You can’t come up with any cons for it other than.

1. A system is already in place and I’d rather the developers not use time beating a dead horse—the only good one.
2. It destroys immersion-which in that case you should hate waypoints also.

In my opinion they could coexist and I’d only use waypoints for getting to other maps completely and use my mount for anything within that map.

I like Mesmer aside from GS Mesmers. I can’t stand the sound it makes over and over. It gives me a headache. I do like to watch myself playing d/p thief. I can zip all about a group of mobs and it is fun. A good d/d Elementalist is fun to watch as well.

Warrior and Guardian boring most of the time depending on how the person is playing it.

Somehow-and I am not sure at all how-you get used to it. But anet should change it because I can see people avoiding GS or mesmer all together just because of the sound.

Pretty self explanatory. Which class-in your own humble opinion-do you think is awesome to watch and why? My main is a Mesmer but the way a Thief zips in and out of stealth looks awesome. Especially when they use Black Powder and uses heartseeker to gain stealth.

I think the are laying the ground work for a big story move. Remember, this is how they plan on doing content updates for the life of GW2, possibly no xpac. So with that said they still need a way to address the threat of the dragons and they have to do it in a impactful way. What I see happening is somehow the past few LS mysteries connect back to the dragons and we are either introduced or in the midst of fighting by the end of the year.

Do the freq LS updates keep you playing?

I have a good example.

I am at work and I go to a coworkers desk and see that he is working in excel transferring information from one spreadsheet to another. The list seemed to go on forever so I say “Wow you must be bored out of your mind”. He replies “Actually no. It’s not exciting or anything but It doesn’t really require any thought. I can just put in my headphones and relax” I didn’t say this but I thought that I could relate.

After 8 hours of work sometimes I don’t want to have do something that requires alot of attention. I just want to do something for myself that is relaxing. So I turn on the Pandora and wreak havoc on some unsuspecting centaurs. Now you are right It’s not epic but it is nice, and its even better when you can be rewarded for it.

I am starting to feel like some chain of events will require some-if not all-Zephyrites to stay. I’ve been reading as well as participating in Baazar and feel like they are just to big of a piece to have leave.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1i3c6e/could_the_zephyrites_and_glint_be_connected/ Is where I’ve got a majority of my facts FYI. The Zephyrites are the only piece of the living story so far to link us back to the main plot of the story, that being the dragons

So what do you guys think? Will Anet just send them back up in the sky or will we be seeing a lot more of them even after the LS ends? Kudos by the way to ANET on this.

And soon… (User was infracted for this post.)

But I agree with you. Achievement Hunters are only killing themselves by trying to do everything; if their idea of fun is filling up bars on a UI window, I suggest they rethink how they are playing GW2. I, for example, QQ’d pretty hard when they removed the memorial bonfire before I could use it, but now I’m not even doing the meta-achievement for SPoT. It’s all about one’s mentality.

Cheers

I am sooooo upset about the living story being every two weeks! How am I supposed to keep up now. I am an obsessive compulsive who has to notch of every single achievement and if that comes at the detriment of players who actually want more content then I DON’T CARE. I know that ArenaNet has implemented a system that allows me to jump in whenever I’d like but that just is not enough. The game needs to move at my exact pace, kind of like the single player game that I really want GW2 to be. Furthermore, how am I supposed to know what has been going on if I miss something? It’s only 2013 and the world is littered with on demand sources of information that I can beckon on my whelm in order to get a good idea of the story line, at a fraction of the time invested but I still think it is not fair. Lastly, this is obviously going to put a strain on quality of content because I am sure I know the capabilities of Arenanet’s developers better than the company does.

Arenanet. I beg of you, put your ambitions aside and strive for mediocrity. I know you think you can provide a much better experience, but what about me?

I am sorry but if the the thought of missing out on content that has no real consequence other than simply experiencing it bugs you then you should be playing a single player game. I can understand the “If I take a break when I return my gear will be such trash I will never be able to catch up” argument of treadmill games but this complaint/request is just silly in a game such as GW2 where you can come and go as you please.

"... Four Winds"

Why does “Four Winds” make you think Tengu? I am interested because I do not know much about them other than they are birds.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tengu

Modern tengu that live within the Dominion of Winds have long since put aside their differences and now live under four houses – North, South, East, and West. These four houses are named after the winds, and were created to unify the tengu while allowing them to preserve their clans’ unique cultures.

The Tengu basically set themselves up into four houses, named after the winds. i.e. “Four Winds”. Their home is known as the “Dominion of Winds”, so naturally a release with “wind” in the name will bring Tengu speculation.

That’s basically why.

Ah ok thanks!

What GW2 is missing in my opinion

Thanks to the trading post function, you can sell from anywhere. You don’t have to be at a trading post merchant to post up your items.

I agree, though the fact that you must go to the TP to pick up whatever you’ve sold is softens this by alot.

- Person to person trading is non-existent, so there is no need of a major hub in the game. The trading post is nameless and faceless.

Agree and how about how you really don’t need other people for a profession standpoint. Hell, if you really wanted you can all the professions and become an even bigger recluse.

The deposit all function performs the majority of the role of a bank, in an instant.

Whoa, lets not get carried away. It would certainly be frowned upon because bag and bank space must be bought with real money.

There are portals and paths in the game that lead here and there, but waypoints lead anywhere and everywhere in the game in an instant. The only advantage of a portal is that it is free.

I feel that waypoints are to numerous also. They try to tone down on this by the fact that if you really look at it WPing is expensive.

NPCs buy everything. They have unlimited money, and none of them have any personality. They want everything you have, and they have nothing you want. Somehow, they make enough money from selling bell peppers and white equipment to buy every last bit of loot you drag in.

I’ve never understood this in games. IMO it is so annoying If I want to sell my junk and I have to run around to 5 different npcs I get it that in real life their are constraints in bartering, but this is a game and I feel like this is one of those issues where the immersion you get just isn’t worth the time.

*Good post though. I made a post that was similar awhile ago. What I do to keep immersed is avoid using waypoints. And I talk to the NPC scouts to connect more to the story of the zone.

A painful goodbye.

Can casual and hardcore players co exist?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

jweez.7214

Right now there a lot of people who feel that Guild Wars 2 isn’t really putting out great content. It’s more just a patch every 2-3 weeks to keep people busy until the next one. I have noticed the usual people I subscribe to on youtube for gw2 content has slowed to a screeching halt. For hardcore players there isn’t anything left to do that is consequential.

However, I have also noticed-at a baffling quantity-people who feel exactly the opposite. They are very happy about how content is rolled out and do not want to see it change. Some even complained that they were never able to get the backpieces for southsun. I find that incredible because that is at most a 6 hour commitment spread over a few weeks. In addition to that I’ve seen several people get upset about when content that hardcore gamers would enjoy such as Ascended gear, and more recently ArenaNet’s “answer to the raid”.

So to state my question plainly to avoid confusion it is: Can ArenaNet roll out content to keep both player bases happy? If so then how (please don’t say cosmetics, that only will work for so long)? Other questions I have are: Is appealing to hardcore players even part of Anets strategy? What will happen to a major MMO that chooses to be casual (I think this is the first time we’ve seen this)?

Please remember this is a discussion so no venting. I am curious to see what casual and hardcore players alike have to say.

I spent alot of gold buying power, vitality, condition damage gear today. Only to find out-through this link (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Whats-the-best-mesmer-condition-damage-build/first#post2112955) and a few others-that condition Mesmers are not ideal for pve. I’ve always liked the staff so I guess I just committed to a heavy condition build without doing proper due diligence. Yes, I know that I should have researched first and this is probably just desserts, nonetheless I really don’t want to commit the resources to purchase new gear. Am I screwed with the gear that I have? Do any of you know of a trait build that is viable that is power, vitality, condition damage (I’ve been looking for awhile to no avail)? I don’t mind switching out weapons. Please only constructive responses as I already am humbled by this experience. Thank you.

Problem is that all the components need to work with each other and your pc is a bit outdated (no offence)

So with a new cpu you will often look at a new motherboard and ram and video card and a new powersupply

None taken. Yea I built it in 2008 and it wasn’t exactly top notch back then either. So would you say that It’s kind of an all or nothing thing at this point? If so Maybe ill invest that money in a nice screen or keyboard and mouse setup. Then use those for my new system in a year or so.

What’s your limit? You’ll have to upgrade your board and probably RAM along with the CPU. What about the rest of the system? Power supply?

Not much I just have a $200 gift card and figured I’d do a quick small upgrade. I have 4gigs of ddr2. Power supply I am unsure of. I don’t want to buy a new board or system. I figured i’d get a completely new system in a year and a half after I graduate college and get my first job. Believe me I am not happy about it…So i’ve been playing with the intel 3000 graphics chip at my nephews house and he has a much worse laptop then I do and I notice, he is getting around the same fps as I am but much more stable. He has the same graphics chip but much less of everything else. When I play gw2 i get fps anywhere from 16-36 and there’s alot of sudden drops and gains. Is something wrong? Is this normal? There’s a question when you make your story that is about what profession you choose. For example, the mage question is “I study all the elements but I wear a gem that symbolizes my love for…”
All I can come up with is it determines a piece of armor you start of with. But that seems kind of stupid because you replace that item within your first 10 or so levels. So does the profession question determine anything else?
