I would be way more interested in collecting tonics and other toys if they went into a “toy chest” instead of being bag-clutter.

Geez, get it together, Anet – WoW introduced a “toy box” two years ago.

- save your level 80 boost for after you’ve already taken a couple of toons to max level.

- don’t bother with crafting yet, you’re not gonna have the mats to get very far, and buying them off the TP can be expensive. For now, just gather every node you see.

- there are a few world bosses that you can do at your level – here’s how to find them: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_boss

Something needs to be done. It devalues the rewards from the rest o the game to the point that to most valuable way to spend your time in game it to… cheat.

That’s just really bad design. /shrug

Update on the Economy

If they were truly serious about the economy, they would stop the AB multi-loot exploiters. The glut of rares and ectos coming from this has seriously devalued the rewards from most of the other activities in the game.

No, you don’t.

You only have to do it on one character to access the new map, then you can buy an account-bound portal to get your alts in.

It’s one of the puzzles that rely a lot on trial and error and that’s what makes me love it. Makes it feel like a true puzzle, having to figure out how to get to the end of it.

A puzzle that relies on “Trial and error” is poorly designed.

A good puzzle should be able to be solved by reason and wit, not simple-minded brute force.

Good outfit that isn't too flashy

in Players Helping Players

kurfu.5623

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has good suggestions for an outfit. I have a warrior whose background is more a “tavern champion” and I wanted an outfit that wasn’t too flashy or bulky. Rather an outfit (or could be armor set) that is more a mix of armor an normal clothing. There are a lot of cool armor sets & outfits but I’m going for more of a scrapper-look that doesn’t look like a tank or mighty warrior.

I was thinking the monk outfit would look good or the pirate outfit. Any other good ideas?

Also, if I get the monk outfit, I can wear that right? I think so but want to be sure. It wouldn’t be the first time that I get something that I can’t use

Ty for any suggestions!

When leveling a new toon, I like to use the pirate outfit with the hat hidden. It’s nothing fancy or flashy, and no goofy butt-cape.

So on the day i decided to buy gems, this happens?
I had just started playing, was doing some Bloodstone fen for masteries while waiting for my brother.
So pretty much a few minutes after spending money on GW2, i got booted of the game, having barely played. Lost my chance at progressing Year of Ascension, whatever i did manage to get is now lost.
So sum of my GW2 play session today, 35€ less on my bank account and nothing on my game account.
But for me the worse is losing the chance at progressing the Year of Ascension metas. It was already a pretty impossible task to do 3/4 of them in this season alone, not lessened by the BAD matchmaking i’ve been getting.

All this to say that Arena net needs to throw us some love back, and give us back some amend for our loss.

Relax. I’ve been playing for over a year and a half, and this is the first time this happened. Just very unfortunate timing for you.

Non Raiders blocked from XP bar spirit shards

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: kurfu.5623

kurfu.5623

Why do raiders get this perk?

The answer to this question is every issue in HoT.

The answer to this is in every game ever: There is a something you have to do to get the reward to finishing that something. Maybe people are to accustomed being told that they are winners for just participating, but that’s not how life works or games for that matter. Raiders get this ‘perk’ simply because they have done what is necessary to get it.

I would have thought that Legendary Armor, exclusive access to new prefix Asc. trinkets for months and better access to Asc. gear in general was enough of a perk for the privilege of being given harder content that the raid demographic has been demanding for a long time.

If you’re going to use other games as a defense, name one MMO where leveling is gated behind raids. The Mastery system is a leveling stand-in. So is Shards.

Also, “It’s that way because our beloved overlord ANet has decreed it be so” is a kitten poor defense. If that were the answer to every issue, then there would never have been raids in GW2.

Raider, 158 mastery points, haven’t finished the Nuhoch mastery, don’t get spirit shards. Still not kicking a fuss about it because it’s a pointless thing to be mad about. Yawn.

Next.

Bully for you. I don’t actually give a rat’s kitten about shards, either. What I don’t like is the move from wide-open progression to restrictive progression.

Next.

Only restrictive if you insist on it being so. Suit yourself. I don’t really care about your plight. I’ll care perhaps when you complain about something worth crying over.

If you don’t care, then why do you bother to waste energy posting in such a rude manner? Perhaps you simply enjoy being rude?

If you have to farm for something, it’s not “free.”

Oh snap, I’d forgotten about that. You can tell how long it’s been since I last started a new character to take advantage of story keys.

Then keep in mind they changed the rewards a bit, you only get one key per week for the level 10 story, so don’t try this with more than one character per week. I think the higher level stories are not limited this way.

Yes, it’s only the level 10 story that gives a key only once per week. They did that to stop people from key farming.

Limit Testing on the Black Lion Trading Post

Hi all-

We’re running some tests on the Black Lion Trading Post to try to reduce the number of error messages that a player may receive when they attempt to sell a large number of items in a short period of time. As we make adjustments to find a good balance you may see fluctuations in the frequency of error messages, but the message frequency will decrease rather than increase.

Thank you for the heads up – sounds like it will be a nice improvement once you have the bugs worked out!

Is it just me, or ArenaNet needs to learn how to make some old items unavailable so old players can feel valued?

Did HoT ruin GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: kurfu.5623

kurfu.5623

Much of the fanbase indeed does not share my viewpoint. The problem is that a huge chunk of GW2 players are not *fan*base. Majority of F2P players came no sooner then launch of HoT and before shelling out $50 for HoT they decided to try core game for free. Why buy something you’re not even sure you like?

By the time they decided what their stance on core GW2 is and grew their characters to 80, initial hype died down to reasonable levels, and both reviewer and player feedback about genuine content and issues with HoT has surfaced giving them far more objective view on the purchase of HoT. Now let’s summarize a F2P player’s perspective:

- huge, engaging core game = $0
- 4 maps (+ 2 guild halls if you’re in one, not everyone is) if you’re a PvE’er (most are) – extra 50$.

And a-net wonders why sales are not meeting expectations….
With core players disappointed (mostly about amount of content vs hype+price) and F2P delaying their decision to jump ship to HoT (it costs 50$, and come next xpac it’ll be free!) it’s nor surprise sales are rock bottom on the F2P front…

Let’s be honest here: Milk got spilled, no use crying about it, but a-net can either mop it up and be done with it, or leave it there to rot and start smelling.
Soon we’ll know the answer as the issue can’t stick around forever and now is really the time to take action, such as:

a) LS3 delivering huge chunks of new HoT content – that’s probably best choice for them – with this addition HoT may become worthy of its asking price and they both save face and get those xpac copy sales moving, along with regaining some of the lost trust from fanbase.

b) they bend their neck, lower official HoT price, admitting the mistaken price/content appraisal. Yes they can lower it via 3rd party retailers, but doing it officially is like publically admitting their mistake. While it may hurt their pride and upset some players that recently bought it at full price, it is a way to gain back respect of many players.

c) they start HoT sale. Not much in terms of regaining player sympathy but it will get many undecided core players to jump ship.

Regardless the time has never been riper to do something about the current situation of HoT sales and player faith in company.

I don’t think I can disagree with this post more. If they like the game, they get three extra character slots, get daily log in rewards, have all their restrictions removed. And I don’t believe most players even read forums or reddit. It’s just not how people are. They play a game they like it and they either buy it or don’t. That’s why the 80 level thing came out. People weren’t leveling fast enough.

The problem is that by the time they reach 80 and experienced a huge chunk of the game, a large number of people are no longer incentivized to purchase.

The FtP version should have taken a lesson from WoW – FtP only up to level 20.

2 gold for dailies-- did it work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: kurfu.5623

I was already completing the dailies most of the time anyways, so the 2G is just a nice bonus.

As for the question of it causing inflation, 2G is rather small compared to how much gold is generated by farming gathering nodes.
