This thread is pointless.
If you earned your wvw badges then good on you.
If you did it before the change for the purpose of getting the gift of battle, why did you wait to get it?
…
I had more than enough badges for the GoB, but wasn’t going to buy it until I had everything else and was ready to build the legendary. I had already earned the right to the GoB, but they took that away with this extremely poorly communicated change.
This has been asked for many times… They have demonstrated that they have the ability to turn items into currency (Proof of Heroics), so they could easily do the same with all the key-type items.
Lemme guess – you want a ReCount type of party DPS meter, right?
I think the change was very poorly communicated, and should be reversed for short time.
That said… I think I understand why they made the change – they don’t want you to be able to make progress of two separate parts of the legendary at the same time – earning badges for the GoB while also making progress on one of the dungeon tracks for that particular gift.
I’m all in favor of adding fatter character models as long as they come with a -25% movement speed. :p
Would be nice to have a Ranger elite that isn’t some goofy healing spec that should have been given to Gaurdians.
“You there; you look useful!”
No time for you today, lady. I’m just here to farm all your resources.
A toy-tab has been suggested many times. and I’ve yet to see an official response…
Even WoW added a toy-tab a couple of years ago.
C’mon Anet, make it a collection thing, throw in an achievement or two, and players will wet themselves with excitement. :p
It provides immersion because in real life you couldn’t instantly craft 900 bolts of silk.
At least it speeds up after the first few… Try crafting in WoW – every craft is the same slow speed.
Simply terrible communication on ANET’s part for something that affects so many players. There should have been much more of a warning than 2 lines of text buried in that huge set of patch notes.
The Ash-Legion heart (the one where you have to sneak past them) makes it’s return as an adventure that I have to complete for the next specialisation-collection.
The horrors… ((O_O))
Is that the one in the cave where you have to stealth past them?
The best route is to go into the cave and take a hard right – that puts you behind some tents, and there’s a flag that you can safely camp on and wait for it to reset. It’s still tedious, but it worked last time I went through there.
I guess the lesson you learned was to actually read the patch notes. It’s a good lesson to learn, especially when you go to do something like purchase a home or a car and you really SHOULD be paying attention to the fine print.
Are you seriously comparing playing a video game to a major life milestone such as buying a house? LOL
I guess Anet really, really wants to be like all the other MMOs…
My biggest fear? Is that the next “expansion” will be just another cluttered-up meta-map in the tradition of Silverwastes/Dry-Top/HoT, instead of something that feels like an actual new big open world to explore.
Gotta clutter up them bags to encourage people to spend $$ buying more bag slots!
Seriously, Anet… enough with the clutter-wars – turn key-type items into currency like you recently did with the proof of heroics.
This was the event in Orr where you have to kill the hammers, collect them, and then bring them back to the NPC. It is possible to grab a hammer that someone else just killed, effectively “stealing” their kill.
They don’t even need a “key ring”… they can simply turn keys and similar bag-clutter items into a currency. They did it easily enough with Proof of Heroics recently.
There’s probably an MMO already out there somewhere that works as OP is describing, he should go play that.
Dying wish:
Bunny ears please
((
They were up for a week during the month-long sale just a couple of months ago… sorry you missed it…
Endless clicking is a valid game-play mechanic.
/s
Necro -> Reaper is awesome, and easy to level
Also – ranger (pet tanks for ya), and warrior are pretty straight-forward.
…and mesmer is interesting to play, but doesn’t do as much damage as some other classes.
I’d wager $100 that is wasn’t a bug, and it had nothing to do with “breaking immersion” during cut-scenes… the female stretchy animation was removed because some prude(s) threw a temper-tantrum over it being slightly sexy.
There’s your answer, and it’s not coming back.
You want the legendary? Either buy it, or do the steps to earn it.
What else would you like handed to you on the silver platter of the entitled?
Yes.
No.
Maybe.
I don’t know…
Can you repeat the question?
“The performance of HoT was not as expected. We learnt the lesson.”
After playing WoW for several years, that’s not something I thought I would ever hear from an MMO company – admitting they made mistakes.
Are the reward tracks in EotM, I never checked that, but if they are, like Teofa said, you get tomes out of the reward tracks, which you can get fairly fast.
Not sure why they removed the XP from EotM, as it only catered really for levelling up.
Yes, EotM advances the reward tracks, also gives Proof of Heroics, and other WvW leveling rewards.
How does raiding work in regards to gear progression? Does it even exist or am I just being stupid?
There is no end-game gear treadmill in this game, thank God.
You can craft the best gear (stat-wise) in the game (Ascended) – it’s expensive, and is gated behind daily crafting materials, so it will take some time. After that, it’s Fashion Wars 2.
After facing the elite toxic queen spider several times now I can say with absolute confidence that I now feel like a total kitten loser.
Don’t feel bad – she can be a real bugger.
Depending on my mood that day, it can be any one of Reaper, Ranger, or Warrior, PVE – all berserkers stats.
More endless tonics, and tonics made into a toy-box tab, pretty please.
As they are now, they’re just more inventory clutter.
^
I’d gladly pay gems seperately for each armor piece in chaos style.
I want to shine like a collapsed sun
After they finally implemented an option to reduce visual clutter, this is a horrid idea.
You got it so that you will be tempted to get more. I have six now and I have them for mining tools, home instance and SAB jukeboxes :P ascended armor would be (18) not (6) for me as I play with all classes but most my characters has their own armor.
Can you gather with the tools in the shared slot, or do you still have to equip them first?
You have to equip it first. So equip a normal set of tools on your character before logging off so swapping is a simple double-click. And remember to take the tools off the character before logging off, especially if there’s any chance you’ll delete that character.
Thanks for the info. That’s a deal-breaker for me.
Is it?
No account bound slots, and you want to share one set of tools among multiple chars
1) go to map that has bank access
2) run to bank
3) unequip tools
4) put tools in bank
5) character select and switch chars
6) go to map that has bank access
7) run to bank
8) take tools out of bank
9) equip tools
10) go to map of choiceVersus
1) open inventory
2) click on tools
3) character select and switch
4) open inventory
5) click on tools
6) go to map of choice or stay where you areI find the second set much faster and more convenient.

These look really cool, gonna buy when I get home!
“Exclusive” as in an item that is no longer obtainable in game by any means except maybe a ridiculous amount of gold on the TP?
Hell no.
That sort of thing only caters to the type of people that can only find happiness by making sure other people can’t have things. Rather sad, actually.
Not gonna happen.
As long as these are being sold in the gem store, there will always be a fiscal incentive to add more junk to your bags:
So.. the 3k gold I spent on a Greatsaw a couple months ago was a waste…. :/ Sold an Eternity for it.
Never again am I buying any skin worth more than 100g now.
if it wasn’t clear that it was going to return someday.. you know like how chaos skins just returned and aetherized skins? you buy a skin because you want it, if you like the look of it then good for you, you should be buying skins because they fit a theme of your character, if it was worth 3000g to you then, then nothing changed now.
But it was clear they was going to be special rare skins, now they are just like everything else…. trash.
The TA Aether skins are trash now too. “If everything is special then nothing is.”
It is quite entertaining to watch all the snowflakes melt in the bright sunshine.
The only way I could see that happening is if they added a new race with a city, personal story, and differnt zones going all the way from 1 to 80
That would be an actual expansion.
So, after a bit of thinking and trying out all of the classes, I think I’ve narrowed it down to either picking a heavy armor class since, I got one light and medium armor class.
I guess the question is now, Guardian, Warrior or Revenant?
As far as I can tell, Gaurd and Rev have no built in 25% movement speed buff:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Movement_speed
Warrior has this:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Warrior's_Sprint
…if that sort of thing matters to you, that is.
Agreed.
Anet has earned back a ton of my trust and respect with this monster patch!
Just read through everything relevant to my play-style… Lots of great things, indeed.
Thank you guys for listening to your player-base, and for all of the hard work!
I like Map Exploration a lot too – but I think I’d rather re-do it on another character. I have 2 of each class 100% Mapped, except for only one revenant and three thieves. I like to try different builds with each exploration.
However, what I would like to see is a sort of mentor button, where if I have my character with 100% map completion, I can help a friend out with theirs, and the button doesn’t make it disappear, but greys it out, so I can see what isn’t explored for them yet and help them with it.
That’s actually a pretty awesome idea!
Personally, I think a lot of GW2 armors look fantastic… from the front.
However, from the back most of them are some variation of this:
What would they even gain from doing that?
I thought I read somewhere that pet-only kills give nothing in return…
I’m not afraid of them at all. I did plenty of raiding in WoW, and simply no longer want to deal with the BS drama, elitist culture, and general toxicity that inevitably surrounds raiding.
Mmm.. I learned COBOL in the 10th grade wayy back in ’79… might have to brush up on that. Question though, will you be adding keypunch machines and readers to the gem-store?
Interesting… two pages in, and not one person has (seriously) mentioned “raids” or “legendaries” or “high mob density and convoluted maps in HoT” as their favorite thing about GW2.
