Level your first toon naturally… that’s how you learn all the ins & outs of how the game works. If you boost your first toon, you are going to be overwhelmed.
…
I’t too late for me I pre-purchased before the demo
…You can issue a ticket for a refund; I did, and got my money back.
Speak with your wallet.
I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if this is the actual direction they go… Would I still be able to get a refund if they implement this and I don’t want to play it?
If you are unsure how you feel about the direction, get your refund now. You can always buy it again later if you change your mind. Speak with your wallet.
Make sure you go through the support page, do not issue a charge-back with your credit card.
I need to think about it a bit… I’m still sort of waiting for them to update us on whether or not this will be added or if they are going to listen….
We very rarely get any kind of communication about anything like this so I think you’ll find that out sometime on the 22nd of September.
I was afraid you’d say something like that… Would you still be able to get a refund if you didn’t like that content or are you stuck with it by then?
I doubt you will be able to get a refund after launch. If this issue matters to you, get a refund now. Speak with your wallet.
You can always buy the game again later if you change your mind.

Don’t rely on them announcing anything on this. If this issue bothers you badly enough, get a refund now, before it’s too late.
Plot twist – it’s just a box that you cannot interact with without destroying.
It would also give me a chuckle if this would end up being just box you cannot even look into.
OK… it’s a box that gets destroyed if you interact with it, but then you get the title “Killed by Curiosity” lol
Plot twist – it’s just a box that you cannot interact with without destroying.
I am going to re-state, that if flying mounts, actual flying, are put into this game I will uninstall and never support Arenanet again. After ten plus years of playing your games, I will quit.
We’ll miss you?

Holding down your space-bar does not make you jump farther, therefore… just don’t hold down your space-bar. Problem solved.
Whatever you happen to save on WP costs will be offset by the fact that you have to spend money to collect your loot,
Could you elaborate on this please? How would we need to spend money to collect loot?
Not quite accurate. You’ll need to spend money to identify some of your loot. Some of the loot that drops in PoF drops as identified gear. The idea is to have more stack so your inventory doesn’t run out of room as fast. But you still get normal drops that aren’t like that.
There’s a charge in silver to identify unidentified gear, should you choose to do so. If not you can simply salvage it for mats.
The thing is you might get a rare or even an exotic from that gear, if you identify it. If you don’t you’re just salvaging greens, and missing out in a possible rare. It’s a choice.
It’s probably a gold sink to replace the fact that we’ll be waypointing less.
Having to spend money to collect loot you’ve earned is a terrible idea.
But you’re not spending money to collect loot. You can salvage the unided greens without identifying them at all and keep all that mats.
Dude… you literally have to either spend money to salvage, or spend money to ID the loot, and then spend more money to salvage the loot after you ID it.
No thank you. Underwater combat is terrible.
I’m not talking about the gliders which are fine but the wings as back item look so ridiculous and don’t really match the original style of GW1 imo. Should’ve left them in Aion.
Soo… don’t use wings on your toons, and stop worrying about how other people choose to enjoy the game. Problem solved.
Fingers crossed for flying mounts. Arguments like “they make the world feel smaller” or “they invalidate open world traveling” are moot in GW2 since waypoints already exist and already do these things.
Not completely accurate though.
Lots of contested waypoints that would be simply negated by flying mounts. Entire mapdesigns would become tivial.
Maps designed for gliding have systems in them to steer use of gliding. You have to master it in more than one way. Adding flying to those maps would render them mere loot piñata’s stripped of their gaming value.
The design of this game might just allow for ground mounts but certainly not flying mounts.
It would be like adding a massive cheatcode. Way to sink your own game as a developer. The Blizzard Krew learned this lesson the hard way.
So, Fingers crossed for NO flying mounts EVER.
I disagree entirely. It’s a popular trope that flying led to the downfall of WoW, however if you look at the facts and the numbers (when Blizzard released them), it’s quite the opposite. WoW was booming when flight was part of the game. Only recently, when flight is disabled for a long time at the start of the xpac, only to be introduced via massive amounts of tedious effort, subs have plummeted. I believe it to be true that the vast majority of people wish to battle enemies more than terrain, and sub numbers show that, if not the sole reason for the decline, that at least there’s some correlation.
When they removed flying for most of the new XP’s, they started bleeding subs so fast that they stopped reporting subscription numbers.
Because people had become used to it. And unlike gw2, the vertical depth doesn’t make much of a difference in wow. That city up that hill, go ahead, fly to it.
In gw2 some areas are locked behind passages or events, there are paths the devs want you to take. They want you to know that a contested waypoint is a bother, flight would invalidate all that, effectively destroying the world. That said, its not out of the question to design a ls4 map(s) which can accommodate flight. But then it’d have to be exclusive to those maps. After a while people will complain they want flight on more maps. It’s a slippery slope into a Venus flytrap
It wasn’t just that people “got used to” flying in WoW – it’s that they used flying mounts as a carrot for people to stay subbed while they farmed old content to try to get them, and also that they sold them in the cash store for $25 each… and then they quietly announced that they were going to remove flying from future content – not on the main forum, but on some obscure form, on a Friday night. They were pretty slimy in the way they handled it.
I agree with you – huge portions of GW2 are literally designed around terrain obstacles, and the maps are instanced and mostly kinda small… flying wouldn’t work well here.

if that does not grab you then look at this way the money you be saving from less wp,s and more mount use will be great
That’s valid and not something I really ever considered.
Personnaly I’d be more than willing to part with the gold for thier use.

I thought WoW players HATE flying mounts as it ‘broke the game’.
If Anet ever introduce flying mounts – then many players will leave (including me, no return to anything anet will make). Please don’t ask for flying mounts because you will force Anet to make them. Just don’t.
No, it was pretty much 50/50 love/hate the flying mounts in WoW, it’s just that the haters threw a huge fuss about the issue.

Useful to me for weekly key farming.
Please pardon my ignorance but could you tell me how you do that?
Thanks,
Anela
Once a week I create a new character, use a scroll, and do the first personal story arc after which I get a key. I think most people do the human commoner one since it’s the quickest but the others aren’t that far off in case you want to change it up.
Just went and found a wiki page dedicated to it.
Thank you so much! I am going to start doing this!
Keep in mind you can only get a key from that once per week, per account.
Will the core Tyria masteries be available to a new player that only purchases PoF?
Specifically, the Pact Commander line…. will you be able to get that if you only buy PoF without HoT?

Despite the mental gymnastics by some people trying to justify this system, having to pay to get loot you have earned is a terrible idea.
Now find me some medium armor without a coat. XD
Sneakthief:
I am in the process of getting my pre-purchase refunded over this.
It shouldn’t cost money to collect the loot you earned. Period.
If the devs rework this, they will probably get my money again. But as it stands… just… no.
The rumor is that they are working on an all-new forum platform.
Unidentified loot is a terrible, terrible idea.
WTF? Does it cost money to ID loot now? Really?
More timed mini-games? Did the devs learn nothing from the feedback in HoT?
Your negative point #1 is a win in my opinion. I absolutely hated the convoluted clutter-fest HoT map designs.
The mastery system is certainly better than a gear treadmill.
Yes, you get the boost as soon as you pre-purchase. It will show up in an included shared inventory slot.
That’s fantastic! Now we need the option to:
1. mute other players WHOOSH when using tomes
2. hide all legendary visual effects on other players
The problem is that the mesh they use for medium armor is setup to favor certain styles — trenchcoats and buttcapes; the light & medium are not. To change that would require overhauling the system in some way.
Wrong.
Vistas should have captions! What exactly am I looking at and why is it important? I would love to know!
Vistas are meant to show off the landscape. The NPC’s that you interact with in that landscape have the “captions” that you seek.
Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if they create some way to invalidate whatever hero points you currently have in reserve…
HoT is not included with the purchase of PoF, but there is an option when you check out to add it for an extra $20.
Please don’t waste dev resources on more stupid mini-games that only cater to a small portion of the player-base.
I am looking forward to the mounts, and hope they add more into the game…
Back when I played WoW, I was a mount-a-holic with 214 of them:
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/korialstrasz/kurfu/collections/mounts
I didn’t see a time-lost proto-drake in there so you’ve got a bit more collecting to do.
Seriously though, nice collection. It was great fun getting that swift white hawkstrider from magister’s terrace, eh?
My old GM had the TLPD… got it totally by accident, the kitten. lol
I think I actually got the hawkstrider more than once… But I was solo’ing the dungeon, so I couldn’t give it to anyone else. No greater pain than deleting a mount.

so, could you please explain where you got the gear progression from?
Hyperbole.
I’m rather surprised he throw a “slap in the face” comment in there as well.
Ok… I got a response to my request for a refund:
“Unfortunately, we are unable to refund the Hunter’s Board at this time. We do not have a way to remove the item from your home instance. We are encouraging everyone to go to the forums to voice their complaints and their concerns as the developers are looking at what is working and what is not working with this item. Please be aware that a post may not necessarily receive a response from a developer but they are looking.
Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Regards,
GM Your Highness
Guild Wars 2 Support Team"
…
I’m going to see if i can return it.
Good luck with that… I submitted a ticket requesting a refund three days ago, and so far have got zero response.
I’m surprised so many people don’t see why this isn’t a shared option.
…
Because, as far as I know, all the other nodes can be shared, including the basic nodes that are also sold on the gem store.
I wasn’t aware that you couldn’t share this node with visitors to our home instance. That seems like a ridiculous restriction on such an expensive item.
I just submitted a ticket requesting a refund of the 1300 gems.
Nice idea, but as long as transmute charges are a gem-store item, it probably won’t happen.
This poor horse dies nearly two years ago… please stop beating its corpse.
“GW2: This one won’t PO half the playerbase, we promise!”
I kinda like the human female… the way she drags the GS and looks like it’s a struggle to swing it is kinda cool.
Asura is pretty neat, as well…
Who is he, and why does this matter?
