Just bumping this b/c I’ve had the exact same problem since launch.
The root cert update solution doesn’t always work for me. Sometimes it works the first try, sometimes after multiple tries, and sometimes I just give up b/c it takes to many tries.
By “try” I mean, I log into the game, see the TP isn’t working (exact same symptoms as OP’s post), close the game, run the root cert update program, shutdown the computer (complete shutdown, not restart), start up again, and log in.
Until recently it wasn’t a big deal because I wasn’t so interested in the TP, but now I am and it’s a pain to get it working this way.
It’s quite baffling that this “solution” works or doesn’t work randomly. Obviously there is some weird dependency with the OS going on (Windows 7 x64), but no idea what.
Any ideas?

As always, we try to listen to feedback and suggestions. We certainly wouldn’t rule anything out, but we aren’t currently working on it.
That shouldn’t keep you from giving us your opinions or ideas!
I honestly think some of us want race changes so badly we would pay $20-$30 or more for a complete reset barring level:
1. Personal story reset to beginning. Lose all personal story rewards and faction armor.
2. If there is any kind of exploit related to karma here, feel free to reset karma as well.
3. If necessary, lose all your gear except named items, precursors, and Legendaries. Only if there is some kind of exploit that the above do not solve.
4. Keep your level, XP, and skill points.
I think many of us appreciate that there are real technical difficulties to doing this, but I’m not sure ANet appreciates how much many of us would be willing to trade to have this implemented.
Even if it means having to re-do the personal story from scratch and re-farm most of my 80 exotic gear, I’d be ok with that, given that the extreme drudgery of re-leveling to 1-80 would suck 10x worse.
I have 3 80s and a 60 and there is 0% chance I’ll ever relevel 1-80 again, but there is a decidedly non-zero chance I would pay for a race change, even under the conditions mentioned above.
Seriously ANet, do keep this in mind and consider it. It could be another money-maker for you, and I for one would have no problem without supporting you like that.
Awesome, did not realize that, thanks. WTB clear tooltips, lol.
With 3 shouts, you are healing 25 conditions (5 per person, max of 5 people)
Where is this part coming from? I only see shouts removing 1 condition from you (Soldiers runes), and one shout removes 1 condition from nearby allies (SIO). That’s 8 conditions removed by 3 shouts, not 25. Am I missing something?
I’ve always wondered. what do you find fun about it? it seems ridiculously uneventful and dull to me.
Why do people run the same dungeons over and over? At least in WvW there’s creativity, variation, morphing and adapting tactics and strategies, etc. PvE seems ridiculously dull and repetitive to me.
To each their own…
Thanks TC for the help but i just don’t think we will get any big WvW guild unless we pay them..but we can get trying.
Don’t limit yourselves to the big ones, go after the small ones and individual players as well. Get enough of them together, get them coordinated, and teach them the game’s force multipliers, and they can become very effective force even when undermanned. (We’ve been learning this hard way against War Machine recently, and previously BG).

How come nobody tried to get us transfers when we came in 3rd place those times?
You guys got all the transfers you needed b/f getting into T2, so BG/KN/TC weren’t around to help out then. I’m sure if it becomes a problem here you’ll feel the T2 love too.
let’s just say we at Kaineng just love to have fun. we wipe and get wiped. we farm and and get farmed. we don’t pay much attention to forum drama. no chest-thumping when we win, and no whining when we lose.
As a TC’er who has faced KN in T2 for months now, this is absolutely true (although they tend to do the wiping and farming more often than not).
KN is an amazing WvW server community, consisting of a successful melding of Kaineng’s original casual population with a later influx of hardcore WvW guilds. Those guilds and militia have worked together to create one of the more solid communities in the game right now.
Whether guild or militia, they all work together, fight their kitten off, they’re both skilled and hard working, they’re good at both pvp and the WvW metas, they don’t whine, complain or chest thump, or do forum drama, and they don’t cheat.
Of all the servers we’ve faced KN is one of the few that most epitomize the “Act like you’ve been there before” attitude.
It would be great for all of us in T2 for KN to get a few more WvW’ers and/or guilds, to keep the tier as balanced and consistently an exciting tossup every week. You can’t go wrong on KN.
(edited by kurtosis.9526)
You need to be careful of saying anything like, “You gave it to us.” In about 2 hours the video will show we left then we let you push Kaineng, we killed your zerg, farmed RISECO then capped the hills (by accident, we intended to keep farming everyone).
We then let you mesmer portal your entire army in, then we wiped you.
Then we burned the school dance.
Lol, touchy touchy. Nice video, I hope somebody got a precursor from that.
Cheers
/salute @ RISE for trying to disrupt our training session in south KNBL earlier tonight. Either you guys couldn’t see we outnumbered you, or you’ve got a lot of heart. I assume the latter.
FA keeps telling us we suck at ZvZ, so we were learning how to use flame rams in open field combat to get better at that.
But by the time you guys showed up we had gotten distracted RP’ing a high school dance where all boys and girls just stand around in small groups.
Fun times later in KNBL too. We figured since FA isn’t really into the points game we’d gift them Hills to help keep them in T2. <3 you guys.
The point swing if TC wins this week is going to be large.
2v1 them!!
We have to keep our tier point spread tight.
Actually, TC winning would reduce the tier point spread more than KN winning. Currently it’s at:
KN: 1 993.293
FA: 1 959.056
TC: 1 947.553A TC win would put it around (according to MOS a few hours ago):
KN: 1 986.745
TC: 1 968.170
FA: 1 944.664So by all means FA, reduce the point spread, keep our tier tight!
I don’t think your numbers if TC beats KN are accurate, but regardless, we should still attack things and stuff until its dead.
The numbers definitely aren’t precise, they’re constantly in flux, but the general idea is accurate, it’s an artifact of the Glicko ranking system.
If either TC or FA manage to beat KN, or even come close, it changes the point distribution more than any other (realistic) outcome.

Sounds like that HB guild isn’t that “top” after all…

Then we’re all winners b/c in WvW nobody ever really dies.
Anyone who questions [PiNK]‘s ferocity should probably check the video evidence. We are a true WvW guild in every sense because we don’t trap ourselves into any style of play. We play to win the map in front of us despite any variables to the contrary, and considering we are an NA prime time force, the fact we even have an effect on oceanic is pretty telling.
Very much this. Or if you doubt the video evidence, go ask HB on BG, one of the top PvP guilds in NA (and EU for that matter). After the BG matchup, PiNK has nothing left to prove, and everyone on TC groks and appreciates that they play the long game. /salute PiNK.
I, personally, prefer defending in WvW, holding towers vs the ravenous hordes, and outplaying my enemies without ever needing to actually engage them in battle. I die far more than I kill, but I die performing critical tasks, like holding supply camps, or scouting. I receive few loot bags. I’m rank ‘4’ in the new ranking system compared to folks who are already high above that.
The pinnacle of military excellence is not to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles. It is to subjugate your enemy without fighting him. -Sun Tsu
Ah, thanks. I actually use it precisely b/c it doesn’t change my skillbar. It’s a nice way to change my big lumbering Norn into a more agile-feeling human. Fine for sPvP or WvW roaming, ZvZ, or GvG, but apparently not siege operation.
If the only fix would be to make it work like other potions, I’d rather it not be fixed then. I’ll just use a second potion to remove it instead.
I don’t know if this is a bug or not, but I posted a question about it in Suggestions and got no answers, so maybe…
Anyway, I used Potion of Ascalonian Mages in WvW and got stuck in ghost form. I could not operate siege in ghost form, nor swap my elite skill, nor even get out of ghost form by clicking (left, right, double, nada) on the ghost form boon.
I hear you can use another transformation skill to get rid of the current one, but I didn’t have any transformation skills equipped and couldn’t swap to one while in ghost form.
Lost a tower b/c I was supposed to be trebbing it from our keep, but couldn’t operate the treb in ghost form or even remove ghost form.
Am I just missing the method by which you remove a transformation like this? Is it working as intended? Bug?
Second that. You can get 10g in 2-3 hours of farming CoF (with zero magic find gear even).
Of course, that means you can buy it easily on the TP too with 2-3 hours farming.
Iirc, you can right-click preview dyes, so give it a try and see how it compares to White.
I used the Potion of Ascalonian Mages tonight in WvW, only to discover I could not operate siege with it or even swap my elite skill.
Further, I couldn’t remove it – lefft click, right click, double-clicking the boon icon did nothing.
Is there any way to get rid of it when needed? Lost OW in EB b/c I was supposed to be trebbing the attackers from OL, but couldn’t in ghost form and couldn’t get out of it.
I used to use my mom’s laptop on GW2 since beta.
The build i had was:Intel i3 CPU
HD3000 Intel GPU
4GB Ram
Exact same setup on my travel netbook (Win7). Can play the game on Lowest Performance settings just fine, around 25 fps +/- 10.
And as of this recent patch, can fight in 80-person WvW zergs with no lag or skill lag. Brilliant.
Dear KN and especially FA: TC is more than happy to trade you our loot bags for your PPT. Anytime, anywhere, you name it. I genuinely hope you enjoy all our shinies and receive many precursors!
Cheers

On the flip side the sea of red names is a bit much… Maybe a mod to turn them into smiley and frowney faces
Or celebrity commanders!!!
What is AFS?
We are not like other larger guilds where instead of zerging down our enemies, we preffer to keep our precense on field as low as possible and perform behind enemy lines and play with our enemy’s minds. To those who have played with us know how well we do just that.
To address just this one point, this is very much TC’s playstyle during SEA/Oceanic times:
- Harass the enemy behind their lines to divert and delay their attention from our keeps and towers
- Sentries in all towers and keeps, scouts tracking and reporting zerg movements, militia and guilds anticipating and countering
- Heavy use of siege networks for both keep/tower defense, and rapid tower assaults
- Experienced, savvy, reliable militia capable of all of the above with or without commanders, coordinating with both each other and any guilds on the map.
- A few Oceanic guilds with their pick of maps, and no queues
- etc.
Adding another guild that specializes in this style of WvW could potentially change the balance of power in T2. I won’t go into the details on why here, but our reps you know can explain.
TC has made it to T2 without any major transfer waves, but rather with a guild and militia community that coordinates, collaborates, and continually improves our collective knowledge of the game. We would be very glad to add others of the same mindset.
Whatever your choice, as Rhyme mentioned earlier, whoever gets you will be very fortunate. Good luck!

I want to know what other people’s tactics are for fighting outnumbered battles.
Get a warrior, spec Leg Specialist, put him on an Arrow Cart, solo the entire enemy side.
More seriously:
Siege, siege, and more siege.
Stack and focus fire (watch some GvG vids for a demonstration).
Search these forums, tons of discussion on it.
Great match this week so far ^^
Seems like FA really doesn’t want to repeat the loss they had last week and are pushing hard for 2nd place. Made for some wonderful fights. Keep it up everyone on both sides
We figured TC was really starting to enjoy wearing red so we’d hate to change that.
So considerate, thanks mate, but only green suits us really.
When you’re Red, defending Anz is a PITA, and when you’re blue your keep has all those tunnels that enemy thieves can hide in and contest your hard-won waypoint.
But when you’re green you usually control SMC, so trebbing your lowlands from there isn’t a problem, and … not much else to worry about?
Unfortunately, odds are neither of us are going be pimpin green anytime soon.
If it happens at all it will take a couple months, barring another server implosion or mass transfer.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1074-updated-world-rankings-march-15th/
I never could fully understand this. I just thinking kain may not want to win so much.
The issue is that the ranking system being used, Glicko , tends create stability among the rankings, making moving up or down hard, especially once you’re in a tier of roughly equally competitors. Some things about it:
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
If you fight a higher ranked server and lose, but not by much, you could still gain ranking points (see SoR vs BG).
If you fight a lower ranked server and win, but not by much, you could lose ranking points (see SoS recently).
Right now KN is fighting two lower ranked servers and winning, but the margin is not enough for them to quickly rack up the points necessary (over 100 atm) to leapfrog SoR into T1 anytime soon.
I guess as long as we can stay T2 i am still thinking Kain needs to be in T1 soon and at this rate they will be.
Actually, at this rate, they won’t be. There’s a large point gap b/t T1 and T2 right now, and both tiers are internally close enough that’s it going to be really difficult for a T1 server to lose enough points and KN to gain enough to swap tiers.
If it happens at all it will take a couple months, barring another server implosion or mass transfer.
I know KN may not be happy about that, but I for one am glad to have them around longer. Great bunch to fight against, and always have been since they joined us in T2.
Make use of point gain. Killing yaks from enemy camps, and killing enemy sentry guards & capping those sentry points give you valuable points immediately in between point tick intervals.
…
Sentry posts are worth less because of their spawn times, but having more captures of them than your opponent means a lot in the long run.
Are sentry posts really worth flipping? You get a point for it, but can’t get any more points from it util the enemy flips it back, giving them a point too. You get no points for holding the capture point over a tick.
Back and forth, back and forth. If there were only two servers the best case scenario would be that one server finishes the week with just ~16 more points from flipping sentries than the other (assuming there are 16 sentries across all maps and they hold all 16 at reset, but not sure the exact number).
With three servers that becomes a bit more complex, but I doubt the differential is significant.
However, there are costs to capping sentries:
1. You show the enemy where you are on the map, and potentially where you’re heading.
2. It delays you from reaching a more valuable objective.
Combined, those two increase the enemy’s response time to your movements. One of the best examples is in enemy borderlands, if your strike group is heading to a northeast/west or far north supply camp to cap it, it’s best to ignore the sentry on the way so as not to give the enemy advance warning.
Curious what peoples’ thoughts are here.
Haha, it’s a bit of an oldie, from 1992.
Fwiw, feel free to use or quote anything I say here anyway, hopefully that wasn’t the last of my inspiration.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled score updates and mind games to bring you this important announcement from Master Thief Nathan R. Jessep:
“Son, we play in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be weakened by thieves with daggers. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? We thieves have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for those dolyaks, and you curse the Thieves who slaughter them. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That the dolyaks’ deaths, while tragic, probably saved lives. And our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me mutilating dolyaks, you need me carving their hearts out with sharp knives. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending our zerg from fully upgraded keeps. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom from burning oil and mortars that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a sword, and stab a dolyak. Either way, I don’t give a kitten what you think you are entitled to!”

Guess I disagree. At least golems allow us a certain amount of time to respond and are a significant supply invesment.

The complete history of the FA – TC matchup in the past…
…
Tallis – Perpetual newbie – Tarnished Coast.
Your sig about sums it up. FA is not the same server and none of that is relevant except last week’s match, and the margin was so slim it was a rounding error. TC and FA overall are about perfectly evenly matched now, these fights could go either way.
Again, respect to FA for bringing it up till the very end last match. Battles like these will ultimately only make both sides stronger, and the real objective is to be able to contend with T1. Keep it up guys.
here’s to another awesome week of fights!
TC better watch out, if FA starts learning how to maximize ppt as effectively as you guys you’re gonna be in trouble
This is true but would be a good thing overall. If any of us ever hope to contend against the stacked T1 servers, we need to make T2 as competitive as possible and learn as much as we can from each other.
FA and TC are very evenly matched, with offsetting strengths and weaknesses. Now would be a good time learn from the other side how to improve on those weaknesses.
I’m not sure that KN has any weaknesses other than a lack of coverage compared to BG and JQ, and maybe SoR, but in the long run would also benefit from stronger competition from FA and TC, especially if SoR is throwing the matches to drop back to T2 as is rumored lately.
Anyway, respect to both KN and FA for bringing it right up to the very end of last match. Good luck this week guys, and may my dead body also drop many precursors for KN and FA
…
As we begin this next week of our tiers competition I am asking each of you and myself included to remember, lots of folks are paying attention and instead of showing how snarky we can be, let’s show them what WvW really is. Brutal, hard, epic fights full of amazing groups of people and great guilds all working hard for their servers. I already know FA and TC for the tough, respectable and honorable competitors you are on the battlefield. How about we all show those folks that don’t play WvW yet and those who might be considering making one of our fine communities their new home our real side, instead of a bunch of pointless squabbling that hurts us all.
See you on the BL’s /salute!
Silke, even though you’re a girl, you’re still The Man. Mad Restecp.
Excellent, thank you!
Thanks, but, um… really or are you just kidding?
/confused
Does Illusionary Invigoration trigger even when no shatters are on cooldown? Eg, no shatters on cd, you drop below 50% health, and II triggers anyway wasting it?
Ah, did not realize stability from shouts persisted, that answers it, thanks!
Bump for great justice!!!
PS – Oceanic/SEA/EU WvW guilds big and small, we need your presence, you need zero queues on an otherwise strong server. It’s a match made in heaven, come check us out!
(edited by kurtosis.9526)
If you have both Aegis and Stability up and get hit by a knockback/down or something else applicable to both boons, do they both absorb it and disappear, or does only one, and if so which one?
Example case: you’re running your group through TA bypassing the packs of wolves with their tons of knockbacks. Should you cast both Retreat! and Stand Your Ground! as you approach a wolf pack, or cast one and wait for it to be consumed by an attack and then cast the other to block the next attacks?
Bump for great justice!
Congrats to Kain and TC for your respective Tier wins. BG misses you!
Miss you guys too! I don’t know if MOS is accurate or not but you almost had JQ – led all week, and then I guess they snuck past at the very end. Keep it up, you’re the first server to give them a real challenge, I think since Jedah retired from SoS [MERC] back in January?

I take my tears chilled to a nice 33.6 Degrees F, shaken with a touch of vermouth, an ounce of Gin and an olive. Its the only civilized way to drink tears.
Nice, will have to try that. My usual recipe is three measures of tears, one of vodka, and half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shaken over rice till ice-cold, and garnished with a thin slice of lemon peel.
There’s a philosophical lesson here. Aren’t we all just loot bags in the end? Or are the loot bags our legacy as out bodies respawn, born into a new life with no memories of the horrors which preceded us? ~It’s the ciiiiircle of loot baaaaags~
“For you were made from loot bags, and to loot bags you will return.” -Genesis 3:19
Thanks Trikki, much appreciated! Glad to see you guys doing well in T1 and able to give the JQ behemoth something to worry about finally. Pulling for ya!
