If your running in a guild group you should be basing the speed on the group buffs (ranger, Mesmer, Guardian, Warrior) not individual speeds (Your group is only as fast as its slowest member after all)

Mesmer’s are usually near the front of our guild groups, and are invaluable with the speed boost underwater too (need to cross that big lake in the borderlands?)

If you were soloing that would be a different story, but if your with your guild, a well organized wvw guild group will make sure that everyone is being hit by the group speed buffs (and make sure classes with passive speed boosts in utilities swap them out for more useful group utilities

Well the thing is 23k burst with 25k hp and class with portal/invis to runaway seems a bit hight to me. My ranger had 18k hp running hight damage spec, which isnt even close in damage to mesmer, and has way less hp

A Mesmer might have access to all those aspects, but never all at the same time. The key to a Mesmer is that yes we have alot of flexibility, but we have to be able to pre-read the fight, since once we are in, we are locked into a specialist area of all our talents.

We can also " Diversion" which if done correctly can Daze for up to 4 seconds as well as Sword 3 which add’s a “Immobilized”

Give other ways of getting resources. Why not have the yak’s give you resources when you pillage them? Why not get some resources for completing the neutral events? Basically we need some way of getting resources to start building up a good siege, without having to defend a camp against an overwhelming force of enemies.

Killing a Yak does give resources to the players around the Yak.

IoJ is still here, given we are as much scratching our heads as you all are in regards to presence, but the WvW community will put up a fight all week. SoS we will endevour to not turn this into a boring week of no action, after all thats fun for noone!

Wanted to ask for the reasoning behind adding confusion when the person is then doing nothing. Confusion only does damage if the player is being active, so the confusion would be frivolous, since it would only last while the head was in the ground?

TC will reflect if you take the Trait. But it is based on LOS, so harpies flying would shoot over the top of the TC, and as such the ability would fail. This is a known issue/potential bug based on the Y axis.

I run around in WvW with a full set of weapons, Staff, GS, S, P, F and Torch. Each one has viability in WvW, and can be situation dependent (easy enough to swap out if you get used to doing it before a combat or tac strike)
I’d suggest getting a full set, and having them there, as you’ll end up otherwise in a situation one day saying “I wish I had XYZ”

Can you give us some Guild tags? IAs one of the Admins of the IoJ WvW community forums, we take exploiters very seriously in IoJ, and if you can supply some screens, names of guilds etc. Then you can be sure that the IoJ community will do something about it.

Weapon wise, I would suggest trying all of them on your way to 80, spend a good 5-10 levels with each one. As when your in WvW, you’ll be running around with a full set of weapons (as we swap between them often in WvW)

Leveling quickly? – Crafting is the quickest way to level.
Otherwise, if your going to transition into WvW, why not jump in with a group in WvW (The exp you gain in there scales with your level, so its pretty quick!) and you get the bonus of practicing your Mesmer in WvW

So yes the iWarden does reflect with the trait.

p.s. there is no direct correlation between amount of skills available and difficulty of use.
If you’ve played at least a few MMO’s your used to having 20+ different abilities etc on your bar anyhow.
Its how to use them, synergies, numbercrafting, positioning/distance use, when to use what that increases the difficulty.
Not how many abilities you have access to at the one time.

Unless of course you have trouble remembering above 14, then yes, the skill requirement would go up.

p.p.s. (Simple maths) Should I include that a good Mesmer in WvW carries one of every weapon, and will constantly swap between them depending on the situation, number of upcoming opponents, siege vs skirmish etc.
That’s 24 skills just there not including the utilities

When running around in WvW, I always carry all weapons and swap between them all, as we have no “perfect” weapon combo. And each is better in different situations

Sabbathius, your probably comparing it to a basic Mesmer build? (much like you bringing up elixirs/rifle) the key point made in my post was to be as effective as other classes, you haven’t got an elixir/rifle build for Mesmer’s.

But people read what they want

The Mesmer at 80 is a great class to play in WvW, the biggest umm… lets use the word “issue” is that to be as “effective” as other classes requires alot more ‘micro’.

If you like a challenge, the Mesmer is a great class. If you just want something that doesn’t require much Micro to be effective, then the Mesmer might not be the right choice.

Good WvW play = groups.
Group is as fast as the slowest member in the group. (If a group is leaving you behind, then find a better organized group

self buffs – too many times do I hear complaints from our thieves that they are running too fast. (again based on WvW being about groups, and thieves having to constantly stop and start) <- trade out that passive trait for something more useful for the group!
group speed buffs are where its at. have a Mesmer, Ranger and a guardian in the group and rotate group speed buffs for high mobility.

Solo WvW, opponent speed control > self speed buffs.

Mesmer sword, pistol and focus all allow us more control over our enemy in 1v1, 1v2 etc.

Planetside – You would only gain levels in Command while you were leading groups.

People will not follow group leaders for long if they suck. Give a commander exp when people are leading. Once they attain X amount, they get the buff.

Been used for a while now, gets you that stack of 20 if done right

What we all think of purple or butterflies is our own perception right.
Does this mean that even outside of the game the Mesmer class is playing with your mind
After all, a butterfly and some colour can cause such interesting reactions (“Lamest graphic”)

In psyc, Purple is associated with certain mental conditions, predominantly OCD, and general obsession, which is rather fitting to a class that causes so much mental anguish. And of course so many of our ink blocks look like butterflies

Butterflies are one of the few natural polymorphs in the real world with 4 different states of being always changing? sounds like a Mesmer. There are multiple butterfly varieties that are classified as Mimics, varieties that can change their look based on seasons, one I personally like is that the adult butterfly is known as a “imago”
Mago being latin for Mage, and the I infront of it…. coincidence??

Defences of butterflies include :
Bright colours (blindness? )
camouflage (our invisibility options)
Eyespots and tails to “divert” attention of predators (sounds like a mesmer)

some of the sues of portal in WvW that we have used:

Feigning a retreat with a portal drop, waiting for the charging force to get onto the portal, dropping a second one and portaling the group directly ontop of the previously entrenched group

Speeding up running supplies. Porting groups up Jumping puzzles, into the keep if we are getting attacked at the front door (ill drop my portal at the back guys so you can get in)

And the best one! Its a glamour field, its small, which mean’s enemies in combat can easily run over it multiple times. For those that love their confusion from Glam, this is what makes portal brilliant
