+1 to really show my support for this.
I’ve been hoping for this for so long.
That side ponytail is infantile. I hate it.
Forgive me here. Just a dragon related thought; but not in the typical sense:
We have no word on what happened to Glint’s only known child that was featured in Guild Wars 1. It somewhat may tie into the cave painting in Scarlet’s secret lair/lab.
We know that Glint did have access to some semblance of mind related/illusory magic, so that’s a thought, ties into Scarlet’s mental torment, bringing me to my next point.
We did protect said child all those years ago somewhere that ~seemed~ to be underground, as it was accessed via. the Central Transfer Chamber. Dwarves are also hypothesised to be underground still fighting the Destroyers. This loosely ties the Thumpers into the equation.
And then it’s worth considering if the child was ‘conceived’ at a point before or after Glint’s release from Kralkatorrik, as if it was before (we have no knowledge of incubation periods) it is entirely likely that it’s nature is not as benign as we were lead to believe in Eye of the North, which would be a lovely twist and brings up a nature vs. nurture discussion which has already been touched on in terms of Scarlet’s backstory anyway.
Also sets up a possible story path to either Primordus ~or~ Kralkatorrik being the next dragon we take on, which would in turn mean opening up access to the Crystal Desert, which would surely (and this is what A-net wants) bring truckloads of players back into the game.
But this is all of course wishful thinking.
Ignoring that Waking has literally no idea what he/she is talking about.
In some weird kind of alternate reality where roaming matters anyway.
Or where WvW is actually considered PvP.
Go to sleep.
I see people bringing up bunker Guardians here and there.
If you don’t run a bunker Guardian (blasphemy, I know, but I’ve been occasionally rolled by skilled offensive specced Guardians, kudos to them); with the sheer amount of damage and blind a guardian can put out ~simultaneously~, along with access to pretty decent passive blocks, guardian honestly has no excuse not to be able to take out this spec.
And it’s not as if Engineers have a legitimate source of boon removal/control. That tacky landmine trait is worthless.
So there’s an idea. However I do ~understand~ the frustration (doesn’t mean I support the complains).
I’d happily take a reduction in the effectiveness of such specs if some of our weapon kits were drastically improved though. Aside from Grenade Kit however.

I’d rather they -add- condition resistance to a boon such as vigour. No super crazy vigour up-times as of the upcoming patch. A 20% (?) reduction in condition damage whilst affected by Vigour is kind of appealing, to me at least.
Matches the definition of Vigour thematically at least. I’m just really afraid of another boon or condition being added to the game.
I want Kasmeer to go. She’s too much of a barby doll-ditz. Kinda like a blank slate for anything other than… Bewbs.
Watch the conversations in the latest Lions Arch story instance.
And now she’s even more insufferable.
Details, man, details. What makes her so insufferable?
Personally, it’s Taimi I want to fling out of a trebuchet. Kasmeer can stay, she at least doesn’t scream “this is a risky ally”.
White girl with daddy issues. It’s just so…
O.C.
And this is not a complaint about the writing, if I was a writer I’d be glad that people have differing views on certain characters. This is in fact the best storytelling I’ve experienced in the game so far. Gives me that old nostalgic Guild Wars 1 feeling.
Kasmeer is just so contrived in terms of her personality.
EDIT: A-net should take a few pointers from the writers of Funcom’s ‘The Secret World’. That is some impressive and engaging stuff.

The stones are grey, not red. They’re called bloodstones because the original was sealed with King Doric’s blood.
Not the case entirely.
Some pretty interesting ideas here. I was actually spit-balling some ideas on how to address this today. This has always been something that has bothered me, too.
For example:
- Have kits respect the existing back item flag. If you have a back item and you want to show it, hide the kit. If you don’t have a back item or choose to hide it, always show the kit. Obviously this makes it a little harder than usual to tell what kit you are using, so:
- A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art
)
- Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?
Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there
.

Sorry this is a very late quote but I absolutely ADORE the idea of a fanny-pack instead!
engies have and will always be the most op class for pvp, they have more sustain than warriors(turret spam on cd + toolbelt skill with blast finisher is 100 more hps than heal sig), take less damage than wars(more armor because rabid ammy and high prot uptime), can go invis, have a longer invuln than warriors, have a stronger version of dhuumfire, and have so many spammable condi spells.
Yes at the cost of piano key gameplay and higher risk of developing RSI. So yes. They have every right to be.
Re: changes:
any heal that roots you in place is pretty bad for a game that emphasises mobility as a core component of combat.
In regards to Incendiary Powder; I’d have it apply to explosions only and in addition make pistol 1 autoattack classified as an explosion, hell it’d leave people less pigeon-holed into taking just rifle for any build with a power investment, albeit with a heightened internal CD.
OR just remove Incendiary Powder altogether and make god kitten Flamethrower actually apply some burning with even mentioning. (But I digress that’s a different issue altogether).

I miss the death penalty system from Guild Wars 1.
Yes the penalty was felt and it was a real punishment, but it helped kick-start motivation to actually improve your skills as a player.
Armor damage seems to have not had this effect, judging from the fact that many people who play the game are to be really blunt; supremely unskilled, and this doesn’t seem to be changing.
OF course the original game was far more structured though, from combat to enemy placement. So yeah whilst I do miss Death Penalty, it doesn’t fit here as well as it should.
Yeah, I saw what was in Scarlet’s Lair when people posted it on the forums. It’s cool and interesting, but having seen it on the forums I now feel even less motivation to do the boss fights and get what I need to go to her Lair myself. I did not check out the LA instance yet, and I do plan to do that, but that’s story, not content. It’ll hold my attention for 5-10 minutes, right?
For example, while playing this weekend, what is there to do other than:
1) fight boss
2) wait 2 hours
3) fight boss again1) WvW
2) SPvP
3) Trading Post PvP
4) World Map completion
5) Alt leveling
6) Jumping puzzles
7) Daily Achievements
8) Monthly Achievements
9) Easter egg hunting
10) Krytan language debunking
11) Profession build experimentation
12) Crafting
13) Champ trains
14) Slayer achievement completion
15) Keg Brawl
16) Sanctum Sprint
17) Karka Toss
18) Southsun Survival
19) Temple clearing
etc.
etc.
etc.
This is really really trying ~hard~ to milk it. And the fact that you included the current joke that sPVP is; balancing of which happens at an abysmal rate and at a glacial pace.
Krytan language debunking? What the hell? Trading post PvP?
Guild Wars 1 had not even a quarter of the supposed options that have been listed here and they kept me along with many other people entertained for what, a good 5+ years? I too am already bored kittenless to be really honest. I haven’t logged in for weeks.
The game has the worst community around, and a lot of it stems from players frustration; the same frustration that people like the OP have due to either content being pushed in the wrong direction, or stagnation through neglect (I’m talking from a PvP perspective in terms of function, not rewards, the latter which has been partially addressed).

I really, really hope there’s going to be some decent lore to tie all of this together (the magical ley lines, what Scarlet saw, Scarlet’s actual motivations).
Because the loss of the Guild Wars 1 writing quality is becoming more and more apparent, as someone who’s hugely into that kind of thing. I remember back when reaching the Gate of Madness in Guild Wars: Nightfall, and nearly falling off my chair when the plot lines for all three games came together in what was a very impressive plot twist/revelation.
There’s been nothing like that so far.
Do adore the addition of that giant watchwork Khloe Kardashian though, stomping through the wild.
EDIT: Just saw the image of the suspended giant marionette over those ‘pads’ on the ground, and by the looks of it should be a really entertaining fight.

Has anything along the lines of this (rewarding exploiters/ignoring their activities) happened in any other games with online content recently? Or in the (recent-ish) past at all? Because if there was it sure would make for a meaty article for a well known online publication.
I mean it would ~suck~ for that to happen from a PR perspective. Alas if it’s going to go un-addressed however.
Re: people who rather the old animation;
You can really tell who doesn’t run in real life. I rather like the female human running animation, it’s a hell of a lot more realistic than it was before (coming from someone who chose the mose realistic of the ridiculous female Human body shapes).
But this being said, a dream of mine is to be able to select your custom animation sets. I’d love to be able to chose between the animations that Sylvari, Norn and Humans have respectively.
(Although I don’t know how it would function with Asura…can’t imagine these things would bother someone who plays Asuran anywho.)
Please keep in mind that to achieve the (obscene) healing you currently have you literally have to spec ~nothing~ into it (which is what makes it obscene). Again as other people have stated, heavy heavy investment has gone into their survivability.
The sooner you realise you’re just not going to be able to trump this kind of build the better you’ll be as a player. Unless of course you switch up your build to counter something like this (which you haven’t done), but then you’ll be at a disadvantage over other specs.
But that’s the point.
The best way to win vs. a spec like this? Just run away. You’re playing the profession with the best mobility options, so just don’t even bother with them if it’s an issue. It’s like running from a PU Mesmer. This game is still about team play after-all.
I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Mesmers are atrocious at holding points for extended periods, and any class easily has better mobility, to move between points and just back-cap.
Unless your teams are running into a Mesmer zerg, which people shouldn’t be with izerkers flying left and right.
I’ve actually found at around the time you posted the thread, I was booted from the game and straight up can’t get back in. Interestingly enough, also from Australia.
The Guru forums also aren’t loading so I’m assuming players are flooding that looking for an answer.
EDIT: Seem to be able to get back in, will soon find out if it’s related!
