Sound idea. Personally, I like the heavy armor look on some pieces but my character (Ranger) cannot wear heavy armor. Don’t like a lot of the armor looks offered since medium armor was apparently an afterthought when the design teams were working on them.
I would love to see multiple offerings for each type of armor instead of only one each.
Ranger Rifles shoot crossbow bolts .. @YumCHA ..> Fixed
Now I would love a cross bow. This is a great idea.
i think the key drop will always be low because the gap between chest drops and key drops are /meant/ to push us to use the cash shop to buy keys.
Remember, this game has no monthly sub. For devs to keep working on a game, they need to keep getting paid in some way.. so, people using the cash shop helps balance out not having a subscription fee, i think!
i doubt they will up the drop rate for keys…. nor do i really think they should either.
BLC /do/ have keys inside of them sometimes. It’s not 50/50, but its often enough so that i’ve gotten several keys from opening other chests.
If the rewards contained in the chests were better than they currently are, perhaps more folks would be enticed to purchase those keys. But as it is now, I won’t because of the awful rewards.
I have seen this suggestion offered several other places on the forums, but nowhere have I seen any response from Anet regarding this problem.
I even had this problem on a very, very small Sylvari as well as on my Asura (oddly enough). I stopped doing a lot of the jumping puzzles because the camera boomerang gives me a headache.
Not fun when you constantly have to fight the camera; even worse in tight spaces if you are actually in combat with enemy npcs. A real pain.
Anet, please fix this issue.
Does not work for me. What I ended up doing was changing the #2 to #1 for the page number and it worked. But your suggestion did not work as the browser just pulled the original info into the link with it. I even just cut and pasted the part I wanted but it still chose #2 which is where it bugs out.
That’s your fault, not theirs.
Sorry, but I fail to see how their webpage problem becomes my fault. Especially since I was following the moderator’s suggestion on how to apply the temporary fix. Because that is exactly what she provided for me.
I agree that the respawn rates all over Tyria are out of hand in many cases. I think your idea is great. It would allow those of use who like to solo once in a while to succeed and allow groups to succeed as well.
I agree that this is borked. I started a new character the other day with 4 of my guild mates. We decided to play/level up at the same time and chose the Norn area for that since 3 of us had Norns and the other two were Asura.
I attempted to send 5 silver to three of the newer members for them to be able to purchase consumable harvesting equipment and a few salvaging kits along with some other miscellaneous items they felt they needed before the were able to get to their bank.
The first two mails went just fine but the third did not with the same “excessive mail” notation. Oddly, about a half an hour or so later that third person I sent a piece of equipment to and it went through along with the original 5 silver I intended to send in the first place.
If these folks are not only in my guild, but also on my friend’s list, why on earth are we blocked? Makes no sense what-so-ever.
I can confirm that changing the #2 to#1 works …wish they would just fix this issue. We should not have to be technicians to view or browse threads on their webpages.

first levelled up a ranger to 11 just exploring from heart to heart and doing the events that appeared… things worked well up until level 11 where it seems like anywhere unexplored is 15+ and i’ve had a hard time defeating the enemies in this area.
to get a break from this i started an engineering alt and had fun and things went well up until around 10-11 and i’m again in the same situation (the first was with human and this time with asura).
again all the enemies seem to be in the 15 range and i’m having a hard time defeating them and doing events/quests.
where does an explorer go from this point? i prefer to exclusively explore rather than group up and try dungeons, etc.
am i meant to farm monsters more or something?
This scenario sounds familiar…we have a guild mate who built a mesmer and had the exact same problems only she went on to get to level 30 before she really started to complain.
Oddly enough one of our members heard her comments in mumble and asked: “have you bought and used your book and placed your traits, and chosen your skill points yet?” There was an awkward pause…she then responded; “book? traits and skill points spent? I don’t understand?”
Trying not to laugh we realized she had totally forgotten about the training manual at level 11, not to mention the traits and skill point selections. After explaining this to her she started to laugh and realized her mistake.
I almost made this mistake myself because GW2 is a new type of game to me. But I overheard others talking about this as I started so I did some research and discovered what this was all about.
I too had come into the game thinking I had to wait a bit to visit my trainer to learn more skills, but because the skill bars filled up automatically as I used weapons, I did not realize this was another layer to the process.
….I really wonder if this is what is happening to you as well?
Reducing costs of being downed: Waypoint fee PLUS repair costs?
in Suggestions
Posted by: lynspottery.6529
I have to agree that it is double jeopardy when you die you have to pay for the waypoint plus find a repair somewhere near to pay for repairs. This only adds insult to injury since you pay for repairs too.
I have an 80 character that whenever she dies in a lower level area, she pays the same high cost to rez at a waypoint plus the higher cost of repairs as she would in a higher level area. I understand they base this cost on your level, but, since we mentor down to the level we are in, the cost should not be identical to the higher level costs. It should balance to the level you are in.
However, I still think it unjust to charge for dying when you know you are going to have to pay for repairs anyway once you do rez. I think there is merit in the idea of being offered a free rez at the nearest town or waypoint or pay for a specific spot using your map choices.
I like to explore and am doing so on a lower level alt now but have been overly cautious with where I go and what I engage in because of this cost. I truly dislike paying twice for something that should not be doubled.

I agree that a lot that is offered currently on the BLTP are things I am not interested in for several reasons.
1. Black Lion Chest Keys are way too expensive for the return from any of the chests I’ve opened to-date.
2. Armor skins – the ones I do like I can’t use on any of my characters.
3. Fluff items (sun glasses, hats, etc.) I can’t see using in the game as they remind me of cheap carnival-style prizes that get thrown away after a few days or weeks.
If they made changes or exciting additions, I might consider the purchases. So far the only purchases I have made are for gems to convert to bag/bank slots.
Nothing more to tempt me at this point in time.
Well, even if I were looking for a special skin for one of my weapons, if I can’t wield a greatsword, that skin is a waste for me. I see a lot of drops through out the game that are always for other professions than mine, but rarely get what I can use on my character.
That is disappointing and there does not seem to be any way I can change that because there is no way to exchange one type I cannot use for a type I can use.
Sounds as though this thing got a little “buggy” on you. :-p
I just experienced this problem today. I was able to read through a thread on the Suggestions forums; sub title Weapon Sets, then I posted my commentary. Once I posted it I went back to take a look and was taken to a blank page.
I can see my own posting through my account but not the thread any longer.
Weird. This really needs to be addressed. I know that there are paging functions on the main forum threads as evidenced by the numbers on the bottom tabs, but for some reason this is missing on the thread I posted to.
I like the idea of having a setup for sets of weapons you use together to make it easier to swap out. Currently on my Ranger, I use a short bow, which I swap mid-combat to my ax/horn as the mobs get closer into my space. I carry around a long bow for those times I need more range and better aoe capabilities than my short bow offers. And I also carry around a torch when I want to use fire w/my ax throws.
I currently have to consider if I am going to use my long bow before I enter into combat in order to equip it in place of my short bow. Similarly I have to consider whether or not to use my torch instead of my horn with my ax.
This is annoying as I really hate to carry around several extra pieces of weapons just in case, as it clogs up my inventory.
or make WoW-like loot mechanic: when you press loot button – you gather shinies from every loot-able corpse/bag in a certain radius around the player.
I really would like to see a true auto-area-loot function in this game. As it is, the current auto loot allows you to pick up everything you have available to loot, BUT you have to click [F] on every body in order to make sure you get everything available for you. So it is only half auto-loot in my opinion.
Still, it is time-consuming. And when you are in the middle of a battle you don’t have time to constantly press [F] to loot as you go. I noticed early in the game that if you wait until the battle is over, some of the lootable bodies were gone…that’s right, they despawned completely.
I found this out when I first started to play and went to loot one of my “bodies” but it disappeared as I started to loot it and lost whatever loot was available to me because of this issue. I did bug it at that time, as I thought the bodies were designed to stay put until the loot was actually taken. Of course, if within a reasonable amount of time no one loots it, then of course the body should despawn. I think this should be timed and triggered by the end of combat for that particular battle and provide for a limited amount of time to do the looting.
Auto-area-loot would mean clicking [F] one time and collecting everything you are entitled to loot in one fell swoop.
(edited by lynspottery.6529)
I think this is a good idea but may not work if the loot rewards are as poor as they currently are setup in the game for other chests and boss drops.
I truly wish there was a zoom capability in the view character screen. So many times I have wanted to see the patterns better or see how my mis-matched items work together without having to squint to see them.
Yes, I do have less than stellar eyesight so a zoom function would definitely be most helpful.
Oh this is a great idea. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished this were part of the current setup.
Or even better, a list of things completed and left undone by region in our achievements. That way we can actually see what objective we need to pursue.
I had to laugh reading these posts. I usually run with guildies and they keep telling me to take the sandwich off my back. So apparently am a great aggro magnet but I do try not to take my collection to the unsuspecting.
However, when I am in a group I always tell them I am bringing friends to the party as I come through. Being a squishy type I never can succeed totally if overwhelmed with mobs but I do try.
My guild mates are great sports and sometimes will lead me into a group just to see the party run. heheheheh…ah well, each to his/her own trains as you call them.
I agree we need to have adjustable key binding options.
Actually I have read your suggestions with interest. I have recently started playing a Necro and feel the current setup is a bit awkward. My character is only level 20 but I feel somewhat limited in what I can do with the weapons setup I am using.
I am using a knife/horn (or focus) swapping with a staff. I also have tried scepter/horn (or knife) also swapping with a staff. I sorta wish some of the things my staff can do I could actually accomplish just as well with my scepter.
But I am still learning and trying out the profession.
On a similar vein it would be nice if we could arrange our hot bars to our satisfaction and use, instead of them being static and unmovable. I like to setup my own hot bars in the sequence in which I want to use my skills. Currently this is not possible.
I like the idea of having a few extra hot bar boxes somewhere, either to the right of the screen vertically, or added to the bottom somewhere since we seem to have room. I miss being able to “use” a specific food or buff as I go without having to open my inventory to find it and then choose the one I want to use and then use it.
I also noted you can only use one item at a time and if you use a food item, then try to use a boon item, the last item used will replace the original.
Not a good setup as it is currently. I would love to see this change.

I agree with this posting that the re-spawn rates in many areas are ridiculously high. Recently I went back to a level 25 area with my 80 (mentored down of course) to open up more of the map I had missed.
I found a missed POI in a cave with a rich silver vein and noticed there was a Veteran in there, along with a bunch of his regular buddies. So I started my way into the cave, defeating the regular buddies as I went in. I managed to find the Veteran with only one regular buddy left, at the turn in the tunnel.
My strategy was to set my pet on the Vet, take out his buddy, then take on the Vet and finish so I could not only get the POI but the rich silver vein as well.
BUT, just as I rounded the corner and started this strategy, his earlier defeated buddies all re-spawned on top of me. So now I had not only the vet and remaining buddy but all those other buddies to re-fight into the bargain.
Needless to say, after three tries with this scenario repeating itself each time without any difference, I managed to finally get the POI as I died but never defeated the vet or the re-spawns. I decided it was not worth it to try a fourth time so I left the area very frustrated that I had not succeeded in my attempts.
This scenario is similarly played out all over the map at different levels and with different foes. The re-spawn rate needs to be adjusted down so we can actually achieve our strategy even if difficult. Not make it impossible.
As of today, I have only had 3 Black Lion Chest Keys drop since my initial post here. I used all three in sequence and got -What? more useless potions, a couple of low level boosters and I think a few copper. Not having any way to track the actual items from each chest unless you take a quick screen shot as it opens, I can’t tell how much junk I got.
But I now have over 42 chests in my inventory, no regular key drops no matter how hard I try, and I am not going to spend $10 real money just to get enough gems to purchase a few keys.
I can’t sell these chests because everyone else appears to be trying to sell theirs. So many on the TP now that they aren’t worth a copper or two, which is what I think the most recent price is.
These chests are a very big disappointment. It would be nice to see these things become something dynamic for a change.
I have a level 80 Ranger and am so tired of “Coats” for my armor. I want to see a better selection of medium armor for those of us who do not want to wear dusters/coats but vests perhaps with long sleeve shirts underneath, or better yet a biker looking style of leather instead of the current “quilted” studded leather that is currently in the game.
I want my ranger to have the cool looking armor that I see other groups wearing but can’t because it is not medium armor.
Please, please renovate the medium armor for us. To me it appears we got left behind the door when designs were chosen for medium armor.
I am glad I checked here because I did not even see the change on this. I actually bugged it when I went to use it from the Hero’s screen and ended up spending coin on my travel back to Divinity’s Reach. I am so glad it is still available.
Wearing a “Duster” (or trenchcoat) for medium armor is not very pleasing. It looks like some cowboy got lost somewhere and is still looking for his pony and lasso.
Dusters have no business being part of armor. They are overcoats, plain and simple. I want to see “leather” and “chain mail” for armor like Aragorn wore in Lord of the Rings.
Please change the medium armor.
I recently created a new character, a necromancer, but after reading this thread, I am a bit worried I won’t enjoy the build. So far I’ve reached level 10 but am very squishy and am not happy with my damage output and survivability.
Looks as though that is already in the game. LOL
I was in Beetletun yesterday finishing up my skill point when I noticed a group standing at the entrance to the Caudecus’s Manor dungeon. This dungeon is located in Shire of Beetletun.
What was noticeable was they were posting for 2 persons to help in the dungeon run.
It appears the game really does need a “Looking for group” finder for this type of thing. Its a shame folks have to post in “say” just to find people to help out in a dungeon run.
I wondered about that. I agree that the Dev Tracker should be restricted to only the developers’ commentary. If players have suggestions or commentary, that should be placed in a different location.
Why is the Dev Tracker even available for players to post in?
I agree with you. I have one character to 80 (Ranger) and have started a new one, but have bypassed a lot because of this very problem:
“The chest is open. Its content lay before me in a satchel. It is time to reap my rewa——
Three blue items. Of no use to my character. With stats inferior to those of its same level. And that sell on the trading post for less than their vendor price of 50 copper (level 41 items)."
I can’t tell you how many puzzles, chests and boss drops I have received on my 80 but I can tell you I have not gotten much of anything she can use at any level of her journey. I stopped doing puzzles and hidden boss fights for the chests because of this very thing.
Now that I have started my second character (currently lvl 10 Necro), I am not that enthusiastic about revisiting many of the puzzles or bosses w/chests as I initially was.
In 9 out of 10 drops I got items I could have used back several levels ago but most not at all on my profession. On those that were soul bound, NOT useful at all. I could not even sell them. They ended up being destroyed because I can’t use heavy armor and won’t on my Necro either.

I am less enamored of a lot of styles for medium and light armor and would love to see some changes. Personally, I found that the heavy armor look on the TP was awesome but only available in heavy armor. It would really be cool if it were available in all three types of armor. After all, it is a great look.
The medium armor in particular is not that great in this game. It would be nice to see some beautiful medium armor that looked like chain mail or light armor that looked like silk or brocade.
All in the skins I supposed but I like the look of armor I cannot wear and do not like the look of armor available for my characters to wear.
I am playing a Ranger (lvl 80) and currently a new necro. Unfortunately, I am squishy. So help in some areas that I have a hard time soloing would be nice.
I’ve had to ask for guild mates to help on some because I just could not solo it no matter how many times I tried. Having just one companion (be it an npc or a player) made the difference for me.
heheheh… not exactly the Centaurs but the other playable races in the game for status. We actually can get along with some of the other unplayable races (Quaggans, Hyleks, Skritts, to name a few), so why not others.
However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that perhaps there might be a group of reformed or peace loving Centaurs out there willing to be friends. Just takes a bit of imagination for that idea to occur.
(edited by lynspottery.6529)
This is apparent in most all the zones. I’ve noticed it more, however, in the higher levels. Mobs re-spawn ridiculously fast; so fast in fact, that I can’t even go where I want to within reason because I am so involved with killing them step-by-step. By the time I get to where I wanted to go, the place is overrun and I am dead.
I do not think re-scaling the mob re-spawn rate is unreasonable for those of us that are either soloing or in smaller groups.
I love exploring and would really like it if there was some explorable version available for folks like me. I would rather explore than fight all the time and doing diplomatic events instead. I would find that very engrossing and rewarding if they offered up Karma and special diplomatic status for completion.
Just a suggestion for some thing new.
Since I only have one character at level 80, I cannot speak to the end game. But what I have found is all of a sudden I can’t go off exploring unless I am in a group and most often they don’t want to go where I do.

I started playing my new Necro yesterday and in one of the story phases I had a companion that joined me. Had I not had her by my side, I would have been hard put to complete that section of the story. Granted it was my personal story, but having a companion pop up to help was great.
It would be nice if on story phases, if we choose to go solo, we get a companion to join us from our past. I do not see a problem with that if that companion also can fight.
I’ve had issues with some that just stand around and twiddle their thumbs while the boss I am fighting that they were to help me with, killed me.
So a double edged sword here. If we get companions to help, have them able to and willing to do so adequately. If not then when they do join in the personal story, make it so that I CAN solo that boss without help.
I believe Anet already has a decent in-game UI and, although there is room for improvement there, it would not be such a problem allowing in-game UI tweaks by the consumers versus third-party problem addons that could really muck the game up.

I truly hope to see some improvement. At the moment, I cannot tell if I am doing something well or not until I actually try it. Then its like in the middle of a fight and I’m dying that “oh, that does not do what I thought it is supposed to do!” I’m dead!
I noticed the other day a group of bots with a guild tag. I did report them as botting but am not sure Anet will do much because they are a guild.
It appears the bots have discovered guilding.
I would not mind this IF it actually works. I created a new character yesterday and as I was starting through the Queensland area ran across several groups of bots at level 2 to 5 just running around the area and doing their thing.
The problem with that was I could not find anything to further my heart due to them tagging and killing it all before I could even start. So I was running myself ragged just trying to stay ahead of them enough to at least tag something for the heart.
I stopped for a few moments and attempted to report each and every one of them but all of a sudden the group just disappeared on me. Poof! It appears they way pointed out.
I am so frustrated over this aspect that I am really getting cranky. Please do something and if offering a bot-free option is the answer, I would consider it. However, I doubt that would really work.
this would be a welcomed change. swiveling the camera and accidentally targeting something i had no business to, then slapping em silly is such a pain. so instead of dealing with 2 or 3 aggro’d jotun, i now have a moa and a snow leopard chasing me; because my rifle pierced an accidental target.
Oh my word! I laughed so hard when I read this because of the visual it brought to mind. But, he has a point. I have inadvertently targeted bunny rabbits and squirrels as well as bushes and npcs just minding their own business because of this problem.
Thanks Jef for this humor. Priceless explanation that really grabs you. hehehehe but is a serious problem.
This is definitely one of the most annoying things about how these tools work. For crying out loud, its not like we are going to sell these things since they are so cheap and can be bought practically anywhere in the game.
But, to make them soul bound takes the proverbial cake. I created several characters and have them at different levels. All of them have these tools in different numbers. So on my higher level character I had extra iron tools that my lower level character can use – except they are SOUL BOUND and I cannot use them on any other character.
Ridiculous having these things soul bound and not account bound. You can’t even get rid of excess tools unless you destroy them because you cannot sell them back to the vendor.
PLEASE MAKE THESE ACCOUNT BOUND. There, I’ve yelled it out.

I am in a very large guild and we often wish more than 5 people can join in a group for dungeon crawling. We played together in other games and although in some the basic group was limited to 4 or 5 people, we could still create a 10 or 12 man group for harder content or outrageous raid that really test your abilities as well as your coordination with each other.
I have a level 80 Ranger at the moment and have stopped playing her because most of the folks I want to run with =more than 5 people. So I either have to ask if someone would drop group so I can join or not run at all with said group.
