I did try that…with no pop up showing. Unfortunately, it did not even peep up at any of the shards I managed to get close to before having to move away to prevent drain death.
The drain should have popped up with counter magic. Counter magic is unlocked through a mastery, which was required to get this far. You do have it? Try using the keybind just in case the icon is simply invisible. You can find the binding under Skills / Special Action.

Trying to complete this instance; I only have to find Caudecus since I managed to check in with Canach and overcome the ambush.

So if I am supposed to drain these chunks to trigger the wall, it appears this instance is BROKEN. Nothing works….no extra mobs to use the unstable bloodstones on to drain them with, and no way to trigger the wall.
Fix this instance. It should not be this much of a problem. If it had been implemented with sufficient mobs to do the draining, I would not be stuck here trying to finish this.

This still reflects the problem with having to have all 3 lanes succeed in order for the entire map to go to the final fight.
The Tarir events actually work fine if fewer than 4 areas complete or even succeed. It still opens up the final fight inside the city and eventually, they can get into the basement areas even if only one room is open. The basement rooms only depend upon how many successful lanes completed the event.
I think the Dragon Stand event should reflect this as well, especially since so much is riding on the outcome of successful completion. So only 2 out of the 3 lanes complete successfully, that only means appropriate rewards for the ones that did succeed.
I disagree that the entire should fail because only one out of the total 3 lanes failed.
I appreciate the feedback. Currently I have an ascended LB with Berserker stats so I can see using the Kudzu with a different setup as an alternative rather than constantly switching out sigils. That gets expensive.
Someone in my guild suggested that, which I had not actually thought of…but makes sense. Besides, now I can actually use the Kudzu image over an ascended LB to get the look…nice.
I finally finished the legendary LB Kudzu tonight. I have the Superior Sigil of Celerity but am not sure what the secondary sigil should be. I like several but thought I would ask here to see if anyone had found a good combo for this bow.
Currently, my ranger is berserker gear and I have traited into Marksman, Skirmish and Druid.

I recently finished the Hidden Garden achievement and have been harvesting crops once a day from there. But this evening while harvesting, I noticed two pumpkin nodes could not be harvested even though they clearly are available.
I was able to harvest everything else in the garden BUT these two nodes. I was able to harvest them yesterday without issue, so I have no idea why they are bugged today.
I submitted an in-game bug report but wondered if anyone else was having issues in this area as well.
The biggest issue I have with the ability to right click a member of your squad to get into the same map, is the fact that if the map is full, you are out of luck….period.
I had been waiting with my guild group in squad formation to do a DS map. We died as is usual for this map beginning, but when I zoned back into DS, I was the only person that did not make it into the same map as everyone else was in.
Try as I might, I never made it in because the “map is full” issue. This is so frustrating that I stopped doing the DS on a regular basis. I like this event but I do think Anet needs to address this problem.
If you are already in a squad when the map dumps you out to start over and you zone back into the initial way point, but find yourself the only person not on the same map as everyone else in your squad, you might just as well leave the squad because you just won’t be able to get back in with them…..this is a problem.
The only suggestion I have for Anet is ……..please fix this so that if you are already in a squad that managed to zone back in and is on an active map, that you are able to join them. After all, you are part of the same squad.
But as I see it now, the game ignores the fact that you are linked to a particular squad and blocks you out in favor of someone else just zoning in without a squad connection.
I’ve been getting this connection error for the past week or so. I submitted a ticket and all they could tell me was that I needed to add port numbers to my antivirus and firewall, but I already had the ports listed.
I do not know why they can’t find the problem if I have everything setup the way they’ve instructed.

I am still hearing my sylvari characters say “I’m fast as the wind” and I am getting really tired of hearing that all the time.
If I use the slider on sound, then I can’t hear the game music which is really nice.
But I really want to turn this voice spam off. I see no response yet from Anet about this.
Aha thank you. The item actually points to that POI south of there at the beach. Every once in a while I run across stuff that has been either moved or removed from the game. Not often, just once in a while.
I have an unidentified lodestone that I am to take to Magister Ela Makkay in Lion’s Arch. Problem is she is not at the location the stone indicates. There is a completely different Magister standing at that spot instead.
Has she been removed from the game entirely or is it bugged?
I’m sorry you are both having trouble connecting. I still recommend trying support again. Not everyone working there is good with network issues.
Since most people don’t seem to be getting the message, I’d also try seeing if you can eliminate your computer or your network as part of the issue:
- Try logging from a different computer in your house.
- Try logging from a different home network (maybe a friend’s, although remember not to save your account name/password — you can, however, load the game from a 64-gig removable drive, along with a shortcut)
I have already done this….nothing changed. And as I mentioned above, I’ve had this happen before and usually shortly after an update or patch. It does eventually resolve, but no one at CS or even in Tech Support seems to be able to explain why or what causes it.
I’ve been through the wringer of providing my PingPlotter info, my pc specs, my router/modem setup changes and reboots. But yesterday was only one of several episodes of the same thing.
I’ll see what happens as the week goes by. Just can’t depend on a fix if what I have been told can’t be found.

The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again.
I’ve been through CS before when this happened and all they could tell me was to keep trying to reconnect. They did not know what caused it either.
Was not my internet or equipment, we went through all those options and everything worked just fine. Even my isp was not having issues…only this game was. I even used PingPlotter to see if perhaps there might have been something else going on, but that came up clean each time I used it for that particular disconnect.
So I am not sure why but it is really irritating to have this pop up. The only times I’ve seen it in the past was whenever there was a new build or a patch.
Why is the download for the new build not working? I’ve been trying to get it started but it won’t complete.
Is anyone else having issues? I was in game just fine and log out for the new build…now I can’t get the download to work and get back into the game.
Update: It took me four different tries of closing the launcher and reopening it before the download started.
Why is this happening?

Just be sure when you salvage for the dark energy, you use a Black Lion salvage tool. Every once in a while I get some high end gear I can’t use or sell, so I salvage it for mats. Almost every time I get a ball of dark energy, I am using a BL salvage kit.
Just my two cents.
You can’t use a Black Lion kit to salvage for Dark Energy, as it only drops from Ascended gear, and you need the Ascended Salvage Kit from Fractals to salvage Ascended gear.
You’re probably thinking of Globs of Dark Matter, which are a different thing entirely.
I did get them mixed up…thanks for reminding me of the difference. Too many things in the game have similar names its easy to confuse them.

I left healing spring since you said something about support and their is the issue of generating astral force for celestial form. The 2sec stealth/super speed could be clutch aswell even in open world.Rewrote the other 4 skills. Signets are bad in pve. Muddy Terrain wasn’t doing anything for you especially untraited.
-I did pickup the Survival trait and added Sharpening Stone for 5 bleeds, 2condi removal, 6sec fury, id use this for opener.
-Instead of the typical stun breaker choice of lightning reflexes I put in QZ for both stun break/condi removal/super speed and also can be used on boss burns with its quickness/fury.
-I put in “guard!” for a dmg reduction on such a glass character but also it can used as an opener or a boss burn cause of its might stacking ability.
-I put entangle as elite in place of SotP since you are in a condi build and you are now traited for survival skills.This is by no means the ultimate open world pve build. But building on what you had and keeping costs for changing low this will bring your play about as much as you can ask for short of a super rework with ascended gear and whatnot.
I made the skill changes you mentioned and noticed a drop in my speed. I’ve never understood why you lose speed when you choose the better skills to help in fights. I do not understand why we can’t just have decent speed without having to make a special setup just for that…doesn’t seem to matter which profession. And definitely character chosen…..like the poor Norns…they run so slow its like they are stuck perpetually mired in mud. Its depressing.
Your speed should have increased with the trait changes. Natural stride in druid line.

I have to say this ability is NOT working. I have been trying to use it for the past several days and it has not worked even once. It used to but not any longer. So in my opinion, its worthless as it stands now.

I am using the 64bit client and usually I have no issues with it. I’ve even done several Dragon Stand events without problems. However, today, just as our guild group started the DS event my screen froze up and nothing would work to unfreeze it.
I even went to my Task Manager but that did not help. And there was no crash popup that I could access because, the screen was frozen and my mouse and keyboard were not working. I ended up having to close the game using the x in the upper right corner of the window. This release everything so that I was back at my desktop…but sadly no crash report to provide.
I was able to log back into the game and found I was back in DS on an empty map, still in my squad group but unable to join them because the map was full.
I thought this had been fixed a while ago when a lot of folks were having issues rejoining their squads after a crash. But it appears not. I ended up finding another map to join after about 10-15 minutes and had to start the entire sequence from scratch. None of my previous map ex was saved either so I had to start at zero.
Pretty upset that even though I was able to log back into the game AND found I was still in my squad, but unable to join them again because of the silly map full issue.
I was hoping to do this with my own guild not a bunch of strangers. So my guild finished their event successfully….my group also finished successfully. But my experience was marred by this problem.
Is anyone on the development team even looking into why, if we are still in our squads when we get into a situation like this and actually can get logged back into the game quickly, we still have the problem with not being able to rejoin our squad?
Appreciate the help. Eventually I shall get my ascended gear/weapons but for now I just need something that will work with what I can afford.
Its too bad that so many of the really good sigils and runes (not to mention the mats for ascended gear) are so expensive. I don’t mind paying for stuff but at present I cannot afford more than one set of gear and that happens to be whatever I happened to have already in my bank.
Here is what I was able to pull together with that skill editor.
I started out with a shortbow w/axe/torch on my Asura Ranger and tried to design a decent condition bleed build for her. I am trying to find a good setup to use for an open world pve experience that I can also use during the DS runs.
Has anyone found anything that would fit that niche? All the meta are iffy since this last update and I really do not have the coin to do more than just exotics at the moment. Currently my gear/weapons and jewelry are these:
Sinister Emblazoned gear of the Trapper
w/superior runes of the Trapper
Short Bow = Stardust with spr sigil of accuracy and agony
113 on all stats: Pwr, prec, toughness, vit, ferocity, healing and condi damage
Fractal Axe w/spr sigil of strength
+85 Prec, +85 Toughness, +120 Condi dmg
Razahg’s Nightmare Torch w/spr sigil if corruption
+85 pwr, 120 prec, +85 condi dmg
1-blk diamond earring and 1-coral ori earring, 1-blk diamond ori amulet
two ascended rings: Royal signet of oric and ring of Red Death
I also have completed the druid line and carry a staff in my bag along with a long bow if I should need it.
My current build:
Skirmishing: Sharpening Edges, Spotter and Quick Draw
Wilderness Survival: Expertise Training, Ambidexterity, and Poison Master
Druid: Cultivated Synergy, Seed of Life and Grace of the land
I am sure I can improve on this but I find this has been amazing in pve for me with the torch/axe combo and the short bow. I switch out my torch/axe for my staff when in a group to aid in support.
But any suggestions to make this a better setup, especially for open world events, would be gratefully appreciated.

DS island numbers do not show up on minimap?

I have noticed that the island numbers for the final fight in Dragon Stand do not show up on the mini map…ever. I’ve checked my settings and don’t see anything odd there.
When actually involved in the fight, I can usually see only the island number of the one or two closest islands to where I am standing. But even with extended distance enhancement none of the farther ones seem to show up at all either.
I tend to depend on the mini map for clues but I do not understand why the island numbers don’t show up at all on the mini map. Was this an oversight?
Also I noticed that the numbering system appears to be similar to Golden/Fibonacci spirals. These links actually have fairly interesting explanations of each.

But it certainly would be much nicer if Anet had included the island numbers in the mini map…after all they add the red arrows and lines of direction for the fighting, so why not the numbers?
I do not think it really matters which race you use to create your ranger. Personally, I have one Sylvari and one Asura. With two rangers at 80 I can play whichever race I am inclined to. But I have actually geared and set their abilities differently….for instance, my Sylvari is my power ranger and my Asura is my condition bleed ranger.
Both builds are fun to play and I am hoping that one day Anet will set up build save options because it is a pain to swap all the time, which is why I did this.
Ranger is my main…and I really love both of them. Although I have to admit I laugh more using my Asura…the puns shouted and the conversations provided for them are hilarious.

- The Juvenile Electric Wyvern pet is now available from the Wyvern Nest after players take control of the Central Advance Camp.
- The Juvenile Tiger is no longer hidden in an area that can only be accessed once the Mouth of Mordremoth has been defeated.

I noticed that the HP under Tarir was moved out so that, even if the major event did not complete all four points, folks could still access that HP. But as a ranger, I still have to wait for a successful Dragon Stand event, and be lucky enough to get into a map working the area successfully, in order to obtain the Tiger and Electric Wyvern pets?
I’ve been disconnected during the final fight a couple of times. Only once did I reconnect and still maintain my spot. But what about rangers who can’t make it into a successful event run?
It would be nice if there were other areas where those two pets can spawn so rangers unable to make it to a DS event, can still obtain the Tiger and the Electric Wyvern pets.
Besides the high Scribing costs, the trade skill itself is selectively tied to a guild. I was really excited to see scribing added because I used to scribe in EQ2. But just as soon as I looked into learning it, I discovered this fact.
Very disappointed in the high cost, but more so because it is selectively tied just to the guild.
Does anyone know why all my loading screen times have increased recently?
I never had such slow loading screens as I have experienced in the last month. It seems to have gotten worse this past week.
Any information as to why?

Ah well, you know the saying “it was right before my eyes, and still I did not see it” comment. I did a search but the search function on the forums don’t work well, if at all.
I supposed I should have googled it…might have found that thread before posting mine.
I’m not a fan of soul bound either any more than I am a fan of skins being only usable on the character that matches its original light/med/heavy designation.
This was always the original intent, what you are referring to was a bug that was fixed a little while ago. But dont worry with the upcoming wvw patch, proofs will officially become account bound and should be put into the account wallet.
Just thought of something. Over a year ago I remember something switching out from SB to AB, can’t remember what it was exactly, but a few of them still left in my inventory stayed SB even after the change. I was forced to use them on the character I had them on instead of being able to give them to another.
Hope they don’t put that type of filter on the old vs the new ones.
Personally, I don’t think linking the two together is a good idea. I like to WvW once in a while, but am not gungho for it.
I also like to travel the world of Tyria and explore, but would really hate it if I was involved in a zone-wide event that is timed (like Dragon Stand) to be affected by what’s going on in WvW.
From everything I’ve read, not sure how its going to shake out ….so I am waiting to see what happens with the April patch.

@Jayne: I guess I don’t WvW enough since this came as a surprise….I remember swapping some to one of my other toons before. So I can wait it out with the notice of the changes.
I ventured into WvW last nite and ended up with a bunch of Proofs of Heroics, but when I tried to give them to another character on my account, I discovered they are soul bound. When did that change?
The character I have them on cannot use them as she already has maxed out their use for her points, except to purchase the equipment for use in the WvW area. I never use those things and was surprised to see this no longer account bound.
I have a couple of other characters that can use those tokens for points but am upset they cannot be transferred to them.
Also, if you’re double clicking on the pact scouting materials in a city, instance, guild hall or starter zone you’re not going to get anything.
I figured this might be the case so I’ve been careful not to consume any of these until I am actually on the map I plan to run through.
I just wish information was more clearly defined on this item. The current tool tip leaves a lot of ambiguity.
aaahhh ok, so you get a bonus only once you reach a 200 point xp? I do wish the tool tips were a bit less vague.
I have noticed whenever I consume one of these, I do not see an icon show up on my bar indicating I have a bonus reward active. Checking the wiki, information on this is rather sketchy too.
The wiki notes that it Grants 200 map bonus reward points for the current map the character is in. But is this 200 over all or for each event?

I’ve played a ranger since beta. I now have a second one at about lvl 45 and want to use her solely for pve/solo play. I am currently running around getting maps opened so I can at least get some of my central Tyria points in order to get my 80 skills once I hit 80.
I am currently using sb with sword/torch for my weapon sets. My first ranger uses LB with Axe/warhorn and I am using power build with berserker armor, etc. But wanted something a bit different on my second ranger. I have a hard time not using a bow of any type so decided to concentrate on sb for this one and see what I can do about my second weapon set as I leveled.
But, all the build information I have found is mostly directed for Conquest, Fractal, GvG and Raids. I just wondered if anyone here has found a useful build for simple solo/pve play?
I am a casual player and usually will join in regional events as I come across them. I will be working to getting druid setup later because I really like the support that offers no matter where I am in group events.

Edit: Finally finished this achievement. Oddly enough the lost coin I mentioned in my screen shot was from the zone before the vine bridges…once I discovered that piece of information it was easy to find and get to.

I have been going over the lost coin listing in the achievement panels and noticed that the numbers of the coins listed are different than those listed by Dulfy’s guide. Also, when I checked the wiki looking for #13 which is supposed to be up on a small ledge above where the vine bridges are, even though my achievement list says I got it, I can see one higher up on the cliff from there that I cannot reach.
So I cannot tell what number it is. Its a bit confusing trying to match the video/written guides to the actual achievement listing. Dulfy’s guides date back to July 2014 but when I check the wiki, it dates to Mar 7, 2016 and the numbers are different.
Did Anet add some or change some? In particular the number #13 one on Anet’s wiki map appears in a different location than Dulfy’s. She has a #17 where the wiki shows #13 but when I get to that ledge its up higher against the cliff and there is not another jump crystal available to go the next leg of the jump.
If you look carefully at this screen shot, you can see a orange triangle above my character with the name “lost coin” off to the left side.
I switched over to the 64bit client shortly after it was released. Thank goodness too because I no longer have the crashing “every few events” issues I used to have with the 32bit one.
But on the other hand, if Comcrash would not use 3rd party hops, my connection issues not related to the game would all be solved. So solving the game issues was a big plus. Now if only I can get Comcrash to fix their idiotic internet setup I would be happy.
