Yea there have been periods throughout the weekend, usually in very busy places ie 3 guilds fighting over garrison where lag has ben horrible. I do not ever remember where it has been that bad previous to this week. Actions not firing off etc

Now I am going to try to explain this fact to people and granted only HoD people and JQ people will completely get it, but it is a fact nonetheless.
I see alot of people saying the #1 server wins because of all the transfers every week etc

I am here to tell you that it becomes harder and harder with each week and here’s why
Let’s say on every server there are 8 major WvW guilds, now I know there are many more then that but for this example 8
2 guilds are assigned on Friday night to each map
Now, and btw this actually is real figures
1st week between the hours of 8-10pm est we had about 38 guild members on one map. 2nd week we had 26 with the rest in queue. This week we had 21 with the rest in queue
Now this happens to every guild on our server. So much so last week alone we lost 3 guild with their main reason being they were getting like 1/2 their guild in there
HoD ta guys stated in their last week before moving that most of them couldn’t get in and that pugs were playing most of the match

So we know guild = organization = common goal
38 guild members and 21 guild members on a map I think we can all agree is a huge difference.
Now for the most part these missing 17 guildies are replaced by pug. We all know that type. Never buy any seige, never carry supply, if they take any supply at all is from keeps and towers. And their main purpose is to find the zerg and auto attack doors.

So I think everyone gets the picture
I have finally gotten to the ta mindset, where really we are very strong when we get our members in, but we can accomplish much less when we cannot. Guild members will only have so much patience sitting in a queue for hours upon end. So really they did the smart thing and moved. Just like a few guilds already did

So really when guilds face us Friday-Sun they are basically getting like 70%-80% of what our server actually is.
So it is very easy to see what the #1 server is up against and why HoD had so many transfers off. It may be the same. I can tell you if we get like 15 people in I knwo I will be looking elsewhere.
Ofc I do not speak for the server or guilds just one person

With the fact that the orb buffs should be changed because they are ridiculous right now, you have to ask yourself how did they get three orbs

If you are outmanned and the 1 server has 3 orbs you have an uphill battle for sure, my match I have seen us have all three, another team have all 3 and even among all teams

The thing is you need to get them back
And yes there are alot of tactics to taking things it isnt always about the zerg. People who say that are probably getting dominated because they dont have tactics

It is hard no doubt about it, but your goal is to get them back

Scoring does not server transfer absolutely do, no transfers=no fluctuating servers=over time servers get bracketted correctly=no huge score descrepancies

Amazing how through the first 3 days it wasn’t about population or night capping or anything really coming from the others servers, but now that JQ is in the lead all of that stuff comes out. We took the lead once lost it and took it back and now its all about population and coverages now. But when we were in 3rd none of this cme out, when we were in 2nd none of this came out.
I know people are going to be surprised but I have seen the outmanned buff this week. Last night was instant queue on all 4 maps-the whole night I was in each BL following and listening to the commanders of other guilds seeing the different tactics etc, no que from 5pm est-12am est on any map

And now on Tuesday with over 3 1/2 days to go you say “pretty much over now”

If JQ actually wins this matchup you won’t really need to look for any reason other then that

All this BG crap is horrible however and ofc the you can’t transfer to so and so and then transfer back nonsense doesn’t fly. I used to think that and I even posted that I believed this, but the fact of the matter is it just simply isnt true on any server at all because there is not one server that retains “full” status 24/7 and anyone who actually thinks that would actually have to spend 24 straight hours on server select refreshing the screen, which no one will ever do.

I for one, and I never thought I would say this, but I think SBI and JQ, if they wind up 1 and 2, should really send BG a message next week if they happen to get into tier 1.

I personally hope people don’t roll over now. I like being down and I like playing under alot of duress, and SBI and IoJ has certainly given me plenty of both so far. I like having a reason to be in there.

I am still looking for the 7 day fight though

And btw you can do your monthly in WvW plenty of candy corn nodes on the map. I did level 1 and 2 in about 85 minutes this morning in there

Stats don show anything is the point. I don’t need my name in lights so to speak

Here’s a stat for you Bob is on top of the leaderboard with 10000000 kills
Tom is at the bottom of the leaderboard with 22000 kill. Does that name recognition mean anything? Is Bob a better pvper?
What if Bob plays 19 hours a day and Tom plays 1 hr a day
Then you have kills per deaths what if player 1 plays alot more then player 2 and at the same time player 1 is in the top 3 servers so the fields are always packed.
Again another useless stat
Or lets have progression where someone gets a big shiny greatsword for 5000 badges and you know what getting it first means, you played the most
And then take support players who don’t get alot of kills but make people better by playing their character a certain way—ie a water based elementalist in all +heal gear etc who keep alot of people alive longer he will never get recognition
I do not recall any leaderboard type thing that I ever considered it as a feature that enhanced a game

They have a very short window right now to address the transfer system as I WvW primarily I have seen it become so horrible.
They need to come out and basically say as of X (insert date here) free transfers will be limited to once per month
Once a week still we will have the same crap we have now.
The servers need to stabilize and the only way to do it is to stop this nonsense. If you give a date no one will really know where guilds are going. Then the guilds can enjoy building their server and not have it clogged up

WvWvW lack of progression has almost nothing to do with why people are becoming disenchanted with WvW. I’m sure there are a very small group that want it, but I bought this game and am playing this game because there isnt a progression system. Most real pvp players like the even playing fields

JQ does not have a massive queue and I would love for people on JQ to talk about their queues rather then people not on the server
We had heavy queues at primetime Friday and primetime Sat. Alot of Sunday we had no queues or very short ones (15min) and even prime time sunday 9pm est as an example we had no que on 2 maps
We lost 3 organized guilds last week and in return got coat tailers
We were a machine the last 2 weeks and now we are kinda just breezing along. I hope we can get it together in the next couple days

And the list doe alot more harm then good. Being on JQ I can tell you if the people keep xfering in we wont be in tier 1 cause for the most part the bandwagoners are horrible and just take up space.
Very hard to be effective when more then half your guild is in a queue and the “I never buy siege, I never carry supply, I take supply from garrison and keeps to repair walls being trebbed, I auto attack reinforced doors, I wander around mindlessly with anyone with a blue icon crew” is in their place

It does harm to YOU, not the people transferring. Even if the new people lost on the new server, it’s a much better WvW experience then most have been having by far.

No it does more harm to the server and the system.
A person who randomly walks around following a commander from place to play not contributing anything except auto attacking they can do that on any server.
I fail to see how doing nothing on one server or another makes it somehow a better experience
If anyone transferred to JQ last week they had a horrible experience because it was over on Saturday and the map was 90% or more green the whole week. So no it wasnt a better experience

The rendering or culling issues have almost nothing to do with needing to upgrade computer systems.
In addition they stated the stats required for the game are well below systems I’m sure the majority have

The thing you have to realize is games today get a very small window from players, history shows that for almost a decade now. WvW is their main attraction and if that one main thing has issues they need to get addressed immediately or the window closes plain and simple.
They don’t have to take the top 10 items and fix them now but they need to start addressing them even one by one. Even though the players are very fickle a little effort goes a long way nowadays still
Honestly they are very fortunate on the timing of their game, besides MoP and I think a ton of people are tired of that label, there is nothing of major note since release and in the near future.
If something huge came out between now and Jan and this still isnt addressed people would jump ship, even if said game was worse

JQ is having less and less queues normally 4am est-12pm est there isn’t queues ever but like 7pm est-3am could be a pretty long wait
However last night at 9pm est we had instant queues on 2 maps

Early mornings like 6am est we could easily have an outmanned buff

A mesmer portal is not an exploit. I have no idea why people keep bringing it up.

I do not use portals on my mesmer because there is a culling issue. I use them to move people alot faster.
And if people arent sweeping keeps and towers they deserve to have them retaken plain and simple. I have had many more times where I have been found and killed then than I actually successfully hid probably 1000-1 tbh

Everything else in this thread is an exploit though.
But in all honesty the ones mentioned here are just a mere fraction of exploits. There is alot of geometry problems in WvW right now

No I completely understand it. And exactly what you stated is correct. 3 servers are there so that one server doesn’t run away with the match. That is absolutely correct.

But your OP doesn’t state that it states that the game mechanics are forcing the 2nd and 3rd server to fight each other, which is completely incorrect.
And with the way you just explained it I don’t know how you even made your original post.

The fact is that server 2 and server 3 should be trying to win regardless if that means attacking server 1, 2 or 3 and if they are not doing that, it is not a game mechanics issue it is a server/player/commander issue plain and simple

Players are giving up or conceding to the server that is winning and if they continue to have the attitude about playing for second instead of winning then yea they shouldnt be playing at all
The game isnt forcing anyone to play any specific way, server/players/commanders are playing a certain way. And the fact is most of them are playing wrong, but for the last time that isn’t a game mechanic failure

I personally do not see at all how this is game mechanics as if the 2nd and 3rd server somehow are forced by the game mechanics to fight for second.
If any server out there feel that second is what they want to achieve, they shouldn’t even be playing
Which leads to player/server/commanders issues as opposed to game mechanics

You state they have everything to gain by attacking each other, but really they dont. What exactly do they get? Neither server gains on the 1 server. In fact in the reference to the 3rd server they may in fact gain absolutely nothing. In fact that behavior could very well drop both servers down a tier which we have seen.

The other thing you say which still til this day boggles my mind if you think the system is supposed to work when the 2 “weaker” servers team up to knock out the stronger server. And that isn’t what is intended either
It is for each server to fight by themselves against both servers. That is WvWvW plain and simple.
It isnt W+W vs W or W1vW2vW3 while W2 thinks its (W1) W2vW3 and W3 vice versa

I just don’t understand why people dont get that

Seige weapons are anti zerg
One or 2 seige weapons, which is alot of what I have seen isnt anti siege
When you take a tower and want to hold it, not even 2 minutes 3 at most you should have at minimum 7 seige built, yes built not dropped-built
Don’t think that a pair of arrow carts are going to fend off 40-50 people

I at no point want to see large groups taken out with like 2 or 3 seige

Last Friday we took 1 tower first that tower in the first 5 minutes prolly had about 10 seige in there minimum, all built and an upgrade started

This is a prime example to look at. This was the closest matchup so far. Just glance at the SS and who has what orbs and how many in each one.
The orbs made no difference in this match whatsoever
And it made no difference because the ranking system worked this week for these 3 servers.
Cant get matchups right across the board with transfers

Again I’m not against some change to the orbs but we are looking at mass changes to servers strength week by week. Almost having a FoTM servers, right now its 5 servers who knows next week it could be a new 5 and the matchup will be lopsided again

Do you really feel so strongly about not giving boosts and incentives to the losing teams, in a gamemode that is inherently unbalanced due to population discrepencies, that you’re willing to let WvW devolve into one-sided, uncompetitive spawn camping matches? —from Pick yea quote is not available again

I honestly can’t look at that at this moment. First and #1 is transfers. Fixing transfers over a very short amount of time will fix matches so there isn’t total blowouts. I made a whole post on this.
Look at the Kaineng matchup right now. They were getting completely doored and boom 2 off peak guilds go there and now they have close like a 50k gap in like 2 days time. That is the stuff that has to stop. That isn’t even the perfect example really.
Look at the servers who are in the blowouts
JQ we all know #1 gets transfers makes the match alot worse for the people facing them
SoS-the strong oceanic guild is now alot stronger due to at least 7 NA guilds xfering over from DB and JQ
IoJ-mass transfers to them over the course of 2 weeks brought them from t3 to t1 in 2 weeks
BG-people again from their BG-FA-DB matchup with they wound up dominating after getting hammered Fri-mon got xfers and keep getting them

Now the other server on the transfer off side of things get gutted completely

I think close transfers, allow the servers rank to stabilize and then see if the orbs are really a huge issue.
I still think they should swap the orb with outmanned anyway and make the orb a point trickle but really the xfers are the bigger fish to fry and really could make the orbs alot less of an issue if all servers are on alot better footing in their tiers

First off talking about 30% and 300 stat isn’t relevant in any circumstance because it will never happen in any course of time that anyone would even realize it

2nd I’m pretty much with Daish (now keep in mind I firmly believe the orb “value” must change and I think it should be swapped with the outmanned buff)
Anyway I personally do not care at all if the 2 losing servers don’t get it through their head that they need to attack the 1st sever and take control of the orbs.
That is a player/server/commander issue on said servers.
As the orbs are right now until when/if they get changed that is the target of any and all servers. If you people don’t understand that maybe the orbs really don’t need to change, the playstyle of the people do.
Whenever we lose an orb, that becomes #1 priority period. To place anyway else, with the orbs the way they are is ridiculous
In addition you also know that whatever server has 3 orbs they took them from 2 other servers, which is another thing that is the problem of those servers and players and not really of the orbs themselves
If people aren’t crazy about playing against a server with 3 orbs, don’t ever let anyone have 3 orbs.
I know there is night capping and pop issues at certain times, but I have defended an orb with 11 people vs 40 or so

Like I said I don’t care what server 2 and server 3 are doing, but if they are fighting for 2nd place, that is their own issue and a bigger one then the orbs themselves

You have too narrow a view. Think bigger picture. Think cause and effect. Think snowballing. This is purely psychological.

Consider Server A,B,C

Server A has a score of 150,000 and has +400 / tick
Server B has a score of 60,000 and has +175 / tick
Server C has a score of 30,000 and has +120 / tick

Think about it from the perspective of a casual player (not one of us who login regardless) from server B or C during this time. If you see the above server scores what is your motivation to join? You’re getting destroyed already so you’re not going to join. If each casual player thinks this, than NONE of them join. If there were 30 of these casual players on at this time, which is a quite modest figure, they could be the difference between forming a big enough group to tackle some of the bigger objectives and not. So the downward spiral continues.

I know why people don’t play but you arent understanding what I am saying with no scores shown and no ticks being shown if a person logs in and sees a map dominated they still wont play, so showing the score and not showing it won’t make a difference

Scores also assist in stragedy if you need to make up ground on green you have to take on green. No score you just flail about and what at the end of the week everyone holds their breathe to see how they did?

Seems like you want to play kids little league baseball “where everyone has fun and everyone is a winner” not WvW
I play to win, to beat the servers I play. I play to get #1 rank. I play to maintain #1 rank when obtained.

And according to the rate and destination of all these transfers they transfer to win

I have no issues with this at all tbh, but it would also rely on the claiming guild upgrading the point, so you could in essence get guild karma upon capture and each upgrade done and then a constant tick with every score tick on a fully upgraded point

The ranking system and the transfer ability are separate things. You are correct that the ranking system cannot accurately make good matchups with transfers, but it isnt there to do that.
Taking transfers out of the equation the argument is that the system will work, and it will
Leaving transfers open in its current state the system cannot possibly work
In addition ther would be no ranking system with 24hr transfer rule that could possibly work

The easiest answer right now is a dag thief.
The fact that there is horrible rendering problems now that thiefs can take advantage of + daggerstorm + dagger build being slightly op as it is
I never see a thief render since the change, before the change at least I could see them
Kinda like karate kid three. A man can’t see, he can’t fight
Probably the only class that wouldnt say thief would be a prot guard, but they can take alot. Its the one class if I see I just avoid, it just simply isnt worth the time to whittle away at them

The biggest problem, has, and always will be, the score. Server transfers happen because of the score. Keep the score ticking in the background but make it impossible for players to see. The score is the beginning of the snowball effect that is causing pretty much every match to be so lopsided. It’s a huge demoralizer for the casual player – and sometimes even the competitive ones.

Players that are on this forum are already, for the most part, the type of player that will ignore the score and continue to play regardless. However, 99% of the populace is not like this. Open your eyes, we need the casual players to make this thing work. They will see an insurmountable score and NOT EVEN TRY, or even worse transfer to the winning server.

I’m fine with allowing free transfers till the end of time, however you must be locked out of the current WvW match, and possibly the next. Make the decision something that cannot be taken lightly.

Score > Server Transfers > Orb Bonuses are in order – the problems plaguing WvW.

The score is the culprit?

We can’t see the score-you get home from work and being a member of the blue tea, go into WvW. You open up the map and the green team owns 85% of all maps. But because you can’t see the score, you think people will have an interest to WvW?

I see so many people saying the system is failing the ranking aren’t correct. It isn’t generating “even” matchups
Well plain and simple it is the players not the system

Now let us take an example: the server transfers close today. No one can move anywhere.
What the system does is it will take the servers and match up server vs similar or similar performing servers.
Right now, with servers closed. In a matter of a couple weeks the top 5 servers (not in any order) would be JQ, SBI, BG, SoS, and IoJ and that is how you find the system working as intended.
The matchups in every tier will even out as well.
The system only works in a static environment. A computer program cannot factor in 6 guilds going from one server to another on Thursday before a match. It doesn’t look at population or change of population. It look at how x preformed against y and z regardless of what fluxes occured during the week on any server

Now lets look at how the people kill the system.
Lets look at one match up in particular
Couple weeks ago it was DB v FA v BG. Come Sunday it was a normal match, a pretty even match. The system was working. Mass overnight/early am guilds move to BG Tuesday AM the map is over 75% BG. BG wins the match people look at the rankings and say the ranking suck, when in fact the match up was fine until the people transferred.
Lets look at HoD, couple guilds xfer off, HoD still a strong server, lose the following week, lose rank 1, everyone xfer off HoD, now it is a ghost town. Again players ruin the system.
Lets look into the future: next week JQ v IoJ v SBI. And lets take a hypotetical. SBI and JQ decide they don’t want IoJ in tier 1 and they completely dominate them and come Sunday IoJ owns 5% of the world. What do you think will happen mass xfers off IoJ onto other servers. Again players ruin the system.

Fact is right now the players ruin it so badly that at any point in time any server can turn from a thriving power house to getting knocked down a tier or 2. We have already seen many examples of this.

It’s all the players

And lastly let’s think about this little tidbit

Let’s say that ANet reset the entire game and everyone was sent back to their original server. Out of the WvW players what % would you think would not be on the same server as before reset? I would guess over 50%. I would guess even higher. I would love to see that figure.

The free servers were put in place so servers would even out. So guilds would make roots on servers. That people could find a home that met their needs and build a community.
But I think we all know what is really happening

Look at the matches you say, look how lopsided they are you say
What made the matches that way? Server transfers
People moved to SoS, BG, JQ, IoJ etc etc that is why the matches are lopsided.
People moved off of HoD, CD DB etc
People moved. The system would have worked but the fact is people moving messes up the rankings therefore the system cannot serve a function because people keep moving.

And the whole thing with no reward. What do you mean no reward? You mean the only thing that qualifies as a reward is a bright shiny trinket you can wear or something to boost your stats?
The reward is ranking, the reward is moving up, the reward is server pride, the reward is earning a higher rank.
All of these things are lost on people, they just can’t grasp the concept, the move to win instead of earn to win.
It is all on the players

Sorry but I 100% disagree.
You are trying to call 6mo-1yr down the line the big picture and in fact it is an absolutely tiny picture.
It is pretty simple with game ftp or ptp over recent history. People flock to a game, something the company does causes its collapse people leave the game in droves. It really isnt that hard to figure out
WvW is their foundation-their main draw, the reason pvp players are here. When this aspect of the game is going unattended, which it completely is, you have a major problem on your hands.
You have to constantly be on top of your main area, or people will leave plain and simple. You can even try certain things even if they fail, people will recognize that a company is trying. Communicate and people know you are trying. ANet disappeared
Do I need to educate people what happened to SWToR when their devs disappeared?
Do I need to tell the tale of the fall of Warhammer when devs decided they wanted to ignore their WvW and balancing issues?
You take care of the short term (of your major drawing point), so you have a long term
No one is asking them to retool every aspect of the game. We are saying your transfers aren’t working as you intended and they need to be addressed

When the score looks like that on every single tier then there is something seriously wrong with the system.

This has nothing to do with the players.

The only thing wrong with the system is the transfer availability. Everything else is the players fault period

The system doesn’t stop people from playing, players choose to not play
The system doesn’t force people to xfer, players choose to transfer

Stop blaming the system for what the players are doing. Players are choosing to ruin WvW. Even though the system enables xfers the people still choose to do so

You think it is fun for anyone? QAll I want to do is WvW but on the morning on the 2nd day I’m escorting dolyaks and fixing walls cause no opposition is in there. This match isnt fun for 2 reasons; HoD shouldn’t be in it, and SBI rolled over not a single day into the match

The fact of the matter is HoD I didn’t even see on Friday night. SBI gave up Saturday morning around noon.
So yea it isn’t fun when 2 servers roll over in the first 16 hours

Well according to your post there isnt a solution.
The problem is people and you can’t fix that
People start losing, they either stop playing or transfer. Both of these issues are due to players.
Players ruin WvW
Even with the 24hr transfer, people still choose to abandon their servers for greener pastures.
Until you take away the transfer you will continue to see the same thing over and over again

Hate to break it to you but this is exactly the problem, you just havent seen the effects of what you are talking about yet.
Servers like IoJ, JQ, SoS, BG are seeing influxes to their servers. Just like HoD did and we all know what happened to HoD. JQ had three guilds xfer off recently due to queue times
These 4 above servers are going to feel the queue weight
Problem is these guilds are just as bad as the individuals, they are all swapping together to the same servers, which I don’t understand because again the transfers are going to create the issues on those servers now. From what I understand all 3 former JQ guilds all went to SoS DB guilds kinda went SoS and BG

Transfers create a cycle, which we haven’t completely seen yet, but JQ finally gets 1 rank and poof out goes 3 guilds replaced by bandwagoners. There is only so much frustration people can take if they log onto 2+ hour queues.

Now if guilds actually spread out, which is what I would imagine ANet was thinking, all would be good but it is doing alot more harm then good

3 Day matches

I’m all for suggestions and all but until transfers are fixed it doesnt matter how long the match is
In addition there are servers who will perform alot better in a 3 day weekday match. The weekend is what starts the match and sets the tone. One would say that the most people per server are available friday night through Sat. So the fact that you set your footing in the first 24 hours makes the wvw great

The free server transfer system in place right now does not work and cannot work due to the basic human nature of people. Anytime they beat, in most game they cry or claim so and so class is op, well this game they just move and they will keep moving until they dont get beat.
That is what we are seeing
People arent trying out servers to see what suits them best, they are moving to servers that are successful.
Do you think it was coincidence that HOD ranked 1 and also had the highest population?
You allow people too much room they ruin games plain and simple.

Now I read the post you refer to as well, and Most of the post was shameful and ignorant tbh.
But same fate as Warhammer is amusing considering the issue with this game and that aren’t even close to similar but considering the tone and words that person decided to use in his post, I’m not surprised at trying to make a shallow comparison

. I’m on Stormbluff isles, I’m used to fighting JQQ and Henge. This week we got bumped down to fight Janthir and Blackgate. They’re currently ranked 5 and 6. The difference between being in the top 3 to fighting 4-6 is huge. There is almost no resistance and extremely low player skill on those two servers.

Honestly the only thing Anet did that upset me was increasing the reuse of Chaos Storm, it should have been reduced not increased. For a class with almost no AoE to actually increase the use of our 1 true AoE was just silly

I disagree first off there is a distance to the phastasmal berserker and no you cannot target someone at the back of a rampart and cast it on them.
I personally cast it on the veteran archers and since they are AoE they will also hit anyone near them.
Also keep in mind if you are standing on the wall when I start casting even if you are moving back at the time or spin backwards it will still get you
Another thing as someone else mentioned there is no way ever no matter what that anyone could get 90% of their health from one cast it may do like 5-6k max maybe a little more if you basically make a really stupid build that is completely impractical to live more then 10 sec in WvW
And lastly ofc people always point to the mesmers when ranger and ele AoEs can actually go through walls and around corners. Cmon people

The joke is on us, the customers, because this IS ArenaNet’s form of “balancing” WvW and it is NOT going away… ever! What better way to bring “balance” than let people play merry-go-round with the front-running servers, only to kitten off the server’s original inhabitants forcing them to a) transfer, or b) lose a huge chunk of their population when the queues get so long everyone else bails for the “up-and-comer”?

Not really the joke is the people. Anet’s mistake is having faith that people would even out the population and it has shown the polar opposite
People ruin games plain and simple. That was actually the one thing I like about swtor is they assigned guilds to servers. Probably the best way to do it, granted it didnt help that everyone wanted to play a sith but regardless.
As soon as you give people the ultimate control they completely ruin the system and this is a perfect case in point, but ofc if you dont allow the people to choose they cry

I would love to see a game come out when when you bought your copy you were assigned a number, that number was your server, then you had to create everything from scratch, but at least the servers would have the same amount of populations
