I’d like to say something to the Asuran Warrior from DH who was in Vale on IoJ borderlands.

I have developed a passionate hatred for you and you being alive makes me angry. You are one of the hardest warriors to kill that I have personally encountered. I commend you on your skill and efforts. You killed me at least 10 times (Warrior with Sunrise/Sylvari Sword dagger thief). I both hate and respect you right now. That was a good fight.

Really excited for this match up guys! Good to see FC again, I always enjoy fighting you.

We on IoJ are on for some tough competition with DH as well, you always bring really big numbers to the field, really excited to see how some of our new tactics are going to go against some big ZvZs.

All in all, this looks like a fun week. Let’s keep this a nice clean match up and have tonnes of fun! Game on.

Farming the Giant outside Arah

To ArenaNet:
These type of events need a nerf. You need to take out events that give endless spawning enemies that have loot tables from event chains like this. It encourages bad behaviour in players and prevents others from opening instances. It needs to stop. And give those farmers another place to farm, like, NAO

I fixed that for you, because I’m feeling generous.

People flock to Giant because it makes money, there is literally no other reason people flock to him like that. The only way to make people go away from the Giant (and ergo, the entirety of Orr) is to nerf it so hard the zombies no longer drop any loot, at which point, congratulations: you have encouraged ANet to shoo people away from Orr forever.

Shelter? Killed
Penitent? Killed
Jofast? Killed
Lyssa? Killed
Giant? We’ll see

Check Orr, no, check Cursed Shore alone is there even any life there? You see a few players here and there mining mithril/orichalcum and chopping elder/ancient woods, maybe some odd times players open Arah up, and that’s that.

For an endgame content, Orr is devoid of life (pun intended), the Giant being the only thing that draws people to Orr. Does the giant need to be nerfed? Sure, I acknowledge that it blocks the path to Arah. Is that the best decision? No, absolutely not. With CoF under nerf bat’s swing path, it’s only a matter of time before farming spots get killed entirely, and then you can say goodbye to finding others in an MMO

I can see your point, I both understand and agree with you. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to stop people from making money. Making money is great, I’m just frustrated by the people who don’t even consider that it impacts others.

I’d personally recommend that if people want to make money, they run dungeons. They’re fun, they make you a better player and they’re decent for money. I make upwards of 20g a week just by doing dungeons really casually and I’m not talking about CoF. Run CoE, run Arah, Run AC, Run HotW, hell even run fractals. But that being said, it’s just a recommendation and if you want to farm events in Orr, I wont stop you.

I want to make it clear that I understand both sides of this and take no issue with others making money or farming. I only take issue with the prevention of opening Arah. If you’re someone who is farming it, but someone comes along and requests it to be completed and you help them then you are not the problem. You are not part of the issue and this post is not directed at you.

That wasn’t my point.

I was making the point that it’s difficult and that it’s coming from someone who does some of the hardest content in game. It’s difficult by those standards. I’m making the point that I’m not just some scrub who can’t play the game and yet it’s legitimately difficult to complete with them there.

You have totally ignored the thread. I’ll try again.

You. Can. Not. Complete. It. With. People. Farming. It.

It’s possible but it’s incredibly difficult and people abuse and insult you. If there is 50 people doing it and only 1 is trying to complete it, it’s not the difficulty of a 1 man event. It’s the difficulty of a 50 man event.

You also should not have to guest just because people want ‘epic loot $$$’

Go farm CoF or something that isn’t impacting other players.

Let me be clear…

Let me be very clear Yes.You.Can. Regardless of farmers You.Can.Still.Complete.It.!
But! It’s a group event…don’t rage because you can’t solo it.

Have you even tried? It’s extremely difficult, depending on the amount of players there.

You can but it’s very difficult, and I run fractals 48 on a regular basis.

Except that’s not correct.

People back off so far that the adds don’t aggro them. If you’ve been around when they reset it, you’ll understand. It’s incredibly difficult to solo when there is that many people.

The biggest issue with this is people don’t actually understand the impact it has.

Events get upscaled, that means the more people there, the harder they get, because the game thinks those players are trying to complete it. Thus if there is 50 people there and only 1 trying to complete it and then they all back off, you get an event that is so difficult, 50 people are usually required to complete it, but only one person doing it.

So one guy, doing 50 people’s work. It’s not as simple as, “just complete it.” That person takes on all the aggro and unless they’re incredibly good, usually die within seconds.

This isn’t even taking into account the abuse that gets hurled their way.

You need to think about how events work and what blocking the chain from finishing actually does before you start defending the farm.

I’ll spell it out again.

  1. If the event is not completed, Arah stays closed
  2. The more people there, the more difficult the event.
  3. Even backing off a minor amount keeps the event up-levelled. If there is 50 players and one wants to complete it, they’re doing an event designed to be completed by 50 people
  4. Farming this has an impact on the economy, DR or not. It affects it.
  5. People who attempt to complete it often receive abusive remarks and insults
  6. Farming this blocks Arah from being opened
  7. Farming this blocks Arah from being opened
  8. Farming this blocks Arah from being opened
  9. Farming this blocks Arah from being opened
  10. If all servers are doing this, Arah is closed from the game completely.
  11. If all servers are doing this, Arah is closed from the game completely.
  12. Guesting isn’t a solution, for other dungeons you have the option of completing the event or guesting. With this you do not.

Those are facts. They are not opinions. That is how this game functions.

OMG dude…none of those listed are “facts”, stop while you are behind man lol..really.

All servers are not doing this…again, ..All servers are not doing this! nor will they ever all be doing this. By your own words…were the only one trying to complete the event!

If you want to solo Arah so bad, GUEST! I promise you…there will be a Arah open…really, there will be.

No more “what if’s” please.

  1. If the event is not completed, Arah stays closed
  2. The more people there, the more difficult the event.
  3. Even backing off a minor amount keeps the event up-levelled. If there is 50 players and one wants to complete it, they’re doing an event designed to be completed by 50 people

  6. If all servers are doing this, Arah is closed from the game completely.
  7. Guesting isn’t a solution, for other dungeons you have the option of completing the event or guesting. With this you do not.

Facts. Literal facts. Tell me otherwise. Address them. One by one.

They are actual facts. They are something that is true. You can’t swing it any other way. Halting the event chain closes Arah. Fact. Farming this does impact the economy. Fact. If all servers do it Arah is closed from the game. Fact. Events get upscaled when more people are there, which in turn makes it harder. Fact.

Guesting is not and should not be a solution to the problem. What if you guest to two servers and they have the same issue? There’s your two guests per 24 hours. I and every other player should just stand aside and let you continue on your merry way? No. That’s not fair and not part of the game.

I’m not going to play another game, because I actually want to play the game. I want to do Arah. I want to finish the event and so do others. That’s being prevented by people mindlessly farming.

It’s interesting, an certainly better than the current.

This would be great for PvP, however in PvE I can’t see it being worth it. Interrupts are pretty bad with the current system.

The problem is that greatsword benefits so much more from maintaining your adrenaline, so therefore we need something that’s really worth giving it up. Axe has something worth it, because it does really really good damage and pulls you to the target.

Personally my solution to GS would be to grant quickness. I think this would work rather well with GS and possibly make it a tad more viable in PvE, making 100b easier to get off.

Hardly. I’ve already stated there is nothing wrong with farming. I encourage it if it’s what makes people happy, just not in places that blocks a dungeon

If Arah is not open and you want to do it, guest.

I covered this.

All servers will not be farming this event, just how during the Lyssa farm I remember the temple being opened plenty of times on Seafarer’s Rest.

But what happens when they are? What happens when it just becomes acceptable to farm these events and everyone does it? Where do we say no?

And no, farming this will not have an impact on the economy. Lyssa did because of the wraiths dropping crystalline dust which was expensive at the time, Arah just has your regular risen which spam moldy bags.

Moldy Bags -> Materials. Materials subsequently become worth less. This means when you actually get a t6 mat as a drop, it’s worth nothing. They also drop rares and exotics, making rares, exotics, ectos, dust, runes, sigils and ores worth far less. It’s the whole reason why botting is bad. They farm endlessly, there is more supply of items and it grows so large it makes things like Ancient Bones worth 80c.

Next you’ll be saying that you should get a free legendary just for logging in, along with 8000 gems and a commander tag.

I’m sorry but this is a perfect example of selfishness

You don’t feel the need or desire to do Arah so because you don’t enjoy, therefore you think it is acceptable for you to farm an event and you are okay with blocking the progress of others for your own loot.

Others feel the need or desire to do Arah because they enjoy it or want to complete content, therefore they are right in being upset about this.

It’s not about loot, it’s about being selfish. It’s about preventing people from playing parts of the game. It’s about screwing up the economy. It’s about players like you who simply don’t care about other players, so long as you’re getting loot.

Completing content always has priority over farming. It always will. It is never acceptable to screw over other players in order for you to just get loot.

nonononono

its the other way around. your the selfish one. you are the loner here.

YOU want it open, OTHERS want to farm.
If you would not be the loner, THEN THE GIANT WOULD BE DEAD

I want to actually play the game, therefore I’m in the right. I want complete a dungeon and event chain for fun. You want to farm an event for loot, something you can do anywhere else. I want to open it so others can enter the dungeon too.

How can you even justify this? You’re intentionally halting the progress of others for your own benefit. What if someone says “Hey guys let’s complete this”

Would you actually help, or would you stand back and watch as he painfully attempts to kill it on his own? I think we all know what the people farming this would do. I’ve seen it and experienced it first hand.

I’m here because it’s incredibly difficult depending on how many people are there. Sometimes it becomes impossible because there is upwards of 50 people. You know how it works. It gets to 10% and then “RESET RESET RESET. Back off!!!11one!” and people stand within range of the event (so it’s difficult for others to complete) and it upscales the event.

Two of the times I’ve killed it I had to have help from friends and call out on my whisper list. I also got abused in chat for it. The other time I was lucky and there was only about 15 people farming it, so I could solo it.

I also stated that it’s not about farming. I take no issue with people farming an event, as long as it doesn’t prevent content completion If you want to farm other events, go nuts, but when you start farming ones that contest a dungeon or temple, then it becomes a problem. I thought this went without saying?

Recently I’ve noticed a trend in people farming the Champion Risen Giant outside of Arah and it needs to stop.

There is several reasons why this is a problem;

  1. It blocks the Arah chain event. It literally stops progress of others and means people can’t access the dungeon. This is extremely inconsiderate.
  2. It’s just going to get nerfed. The same thing happened at Lyssa and eventually we will end up with every single event not giving out loot if players do this to every event
  3. It leads to abusive comments and insults being hurled at anyone who attempts to complete. I have experienced this first hand.
  4. It’s not healthy for the economy. The more you farm this, the more the drops come in and the less things are valued at. It doesn’t take an economic expert to know that this is bad for the game.

I’ve personally brought it up with people who are doing and just get told to ‘Guest to another server’ and that itself is an issue. I shouldn’t have to guest off my own server to do a dungeon, simply because a bunch of people just want some drops. Besides, what happens when it’s being done on every server? What happens when there is no server that has Arah open because of this? Do we simply say “Oh well, nobody gets to do Arah” or do we just tell ArenaNet to take Arah out of the game and give us a zone of endless spawning enemies that can be farmed, which give out free legendaries and precursors?

No. We don’t. This whole activity and mindset needs to stop. If you want to farm, farm dungeons. I make decent money (20g+) per week without even trying, simply by playing the game. I do fractals, dailies, dungeons and more. I don’t need to stop others from progressing and event chain.

To make it clear, if you are farming this event and stopping others from completing it, you are what is wrong with this community. You’re better off playing a single player RPG. This game isn’t for you and you should probably find something else to do with your time. It’s that simply. You’re being extremely inconsiderate and really need to think about how it effects other players.

To ArenaNet:
These type of events need a nerf. You need to take out events that give endless spawning enemies that have loot tables from event chains like this. It encourages bad behaviour in players and prevents others from opening instances. It needs to stop.

We will not make both fractals.

Things like this are why ArenaNet continues to fail as a company.

The only real permanent content from this is the fractal and you are making people vote between two, when half the community doesn’t even care about fractals

This alone makes voting unfair. Whilst I share different opinions with certain people on who has more of an advantage, the permanent part of it should be implemented regardless. The way I see it, the one who gets voted for should have priority and the other being developed at a later date.

This is unfair to the community. I am tired of seeing ArenaNet screw over it’s players. Sure, let the community decide for one or the other but don’t do it through content such as this. Don’t it through content that has a list of changes for one candidate and a list of changes for the other.

Set the permanent fractals as a separate part. The fractals community is not the same as your regular GW2 player. Read the dungeon forums. Let the fractal community decide.

With each update I lose faith in ArenaNet. Not because the content is bad, but because so many of the design decisions blatantly disregard the actual players.

tl;dr putting the fractals behind a temporary content decision where a large part of the community will be voting solely on the characters or the temporary content is a terrible game design choice and should be amended ASAP.

Konig, I support most things you say, but this is borderline trollbait.

Are you blind? Of all people for this to come from I’m almost shocked.

The odds are HEAVILY in Kiel’s favour. Let me roll over a few things.

  1. Waypoints: Kiel offers cheaper waypoints. This is something every player uses. This is something that your casual player (and keep in mind the primary player base is casual) will want.
  2. Kiel as a character: Kiel is your typical good character. The players know her well, they’ve seen her a lot recently, she’s got Magnus behind her (another likeable character), she is portrayed as the ‘good guy’ of the situation. This is something the majority of players will associate with
  3. Evon as a character: He’s generally seen as your typical villain and with that comes the natural desire for him to lose. He’s portrayed as having ‘bad morales’ and such. Most people will be hesitant to vote for him on this basis.
  4. Thaumanova: Be honest with yourself. How much of the player base is actual GW1 vets that care about the lore to a mild extent? Maybe 10% Most of them don’t know, or don’t care, who Abaddon on. Thaumanova is your obvious go-to choice as they know it, it’s in game and they understand it.
  5. Fractals: Do you understand that the player base for fractals is ridiculously small? At least at high levels, which are the players who actually care about it. The majority of players I encounter in-game (and I encounter a lot) don’t do fractals, don’t like fractals or simply don’t care.

Your argument is poor at best and I’m pretty sure you know it. Hell, the two cut-scenes we have of Evon set him out as a Villain. Objectively Kiel has a major upper hand and you know it. You are blatantly disregarding all facts and not taking into account who the actual player base is. They aren’t the seasoned Guild Wars 1 veterans who care enough about the lore to want to know more about the parentage of the Gods, where humanity came from, the origins of the Charr, what exactly the Great Dwarf is or even the contents of the Tome of Rubicon. The majority see:

Familiar character who is reducing waypoints. Thaumanova is something I understand. I guess I’ll vote for her.

Take the player-base into consideration. I honestly expect better from someone as invested into this universe as you.

I will personally voting for Evon as I’m someone who does high level fractals (48+) on a regular basis and believe the Fall of Abaddon will be a far, far more interesting and fun fractal, both mechanically and lore-wise. Though I understand the background of Thaumanova and it’s importance to the lore.

Edit: I took a look at the post time. To an extent I can see your perspective, but when you get in game you’ll understand what I mean. Enter the Candidate Trials. Kiel’s and Evon’s are as different as day and night with Kiel being the ‘good guy’ and Evon the ‘bad guy’. There’s quite a lot that, once you see the update, shows how much of an advantage Kiel is given. She’s literally been handed a free win with the way they’ve written this. Hell, your character sides with Kiel. Do the ‘story’ scene and then talk to her. She constantly uses ‘we’ and ‘us’ and the continue dialogue is more along the lines of siding with her. Evon’s is more of a “mmk dunno you. Talk to ya later m8’

I will however agree that they’re on unfair playing ground. The bonuses need to be in-game things. If it was say, reduction of the trading post tax, that would put it on a better playing field.

Never going to happen. Savage Leap would be rather crazy. Not to mention that there’s plenty of other things that could be end up wonky due to permanent conditions or higher stacks. You would definitely end up with Mace/Shield being completely broken.

Savage leap is an 8s CD. It wouldn’t be too OP. Perhaps 10 – 15% faster CD? I’m also not sure how Mace/Shield would be completely broken, their cooldowns are long as kitten to begin with, but I understand your concerns. As I said, some adjustments would need to be made. The suggestion was just attempt at conveying a workable ‘recharge reduction’ skill. They had them in GW1 and I’d love to see them in GW2, but it would come with issues, undoubtedly.

Why the Abaddon Fractal is Irrelevant

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

Abaddon is literally the most important character in the entire guild wars universe.

He is responsible for:

  • Gifting Magic to the races of the world (that means without him, you’d only have access to Warrior, Engineer, Non-spirit rangers and maybe thieves)
  • The Crystal Desert (sort of. The Crystal Sea was his domain and their is lore regarding the crystal desert and how it ties to him and particularly his fall)
  • The Jade Sea
  • The Echovald Forest
  • The Charr being the way they are today. (No titans, no magic, now war on humans, no hardened war veterans, no revolt against the flame legion. The Charr would be nothing without Abaddon’s intervention)
  • The Lich and in turn the honing of the Character’s skills which thus lead him to be able to defeat the Great Destroyer. (from a lore stand-point, the PC of GW1 in EoTN was the one from Prophecies, but it actually applies the same for each campaign). Had the Great Destroyer not been defeated we’d all probably be dead.
  • The Gods’ Exodus. Good or bad, this is a major part of Guild Wars lore.

And so much more. Abaddon’s Fall is literally one of the most important moments of guild wars lore, along side the last rise of the elder dragons, the arrival of the gods, the arrival of humans, the birthing of Sylvari, the freeing of Glint/Glaust.

To call the ‘Fall of Abaddon’ irrelevant is to blatantly admit you know absolutely nothing about the lore in even the slightest. Vote for the Thaumanova if you wish, but in terms of relevance, FoA is far more relevant than Thaumanova. This is objectively speaking.

tl;dr calling the Fall of Abaddon irrelevant to the Guild Wars universe is like saying the French Revolution is irrelevant to human history.

Bull’s Charge: Adds 2 – 5 stacks of vulnerability (based on adrenaline level) for 20 seconds. This is on top of the current skill effects.
Kick: Adds 5 seconds of weakness to target

We shouldn’t have to have a god kitten moderator come in here and warn us about our behaviour.

You wiped another team’s zerg? Nice job on you, but there isn’t any need to gloat. You defended bay for 3 hours with 7 people against a 40 man zerg using nothing but 2 arrow carts and a blunt stick? Awesome! That’s really great but keep it friendly.

Guys, we’re all playing the same game. Can’t we just have some fun without this kittening. Some of us are acting like 12 year old girls. Act like the adults you all are.

Question About Macros

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

snip

Except that last bit isn’t correct. This is how it runs

(I don’t know how exactly the logitech software writes it, but it’s something along the lines of this, so don’t take it as an actual code)

While(X=ButtonDown)
{
   Mouse.Click
   sleep = 25ms
}

So basically however fast my computer runs, it checks if button ‘X’ is down, Clicks with my mouse, waits 25s and then checks again if ‘X’ is down. It’s actually a loop.

The exact same thing happens when you open chat and hit A.
it says “is the Key A down? okay. Write the character ‘A’, lets check if it’s still down. Okay it is. Write that again. okay again? Nope not down now. Don’t write A. end of script.”

I’m just trying to make sure everyone understands what it does. If you were to use it on say, your number 1 skill (hold your mouse over 1 and then hold down X) it would actually only activate skill 1 as fast as skill 1 activates. Try clicking your 1 skill super super quick. It only does it as fast as it activates.

My point is it technically only does the action once and then reads if I’m still doing it. The macro IS one press per action. The thing is that if it’s still pressed it keeps looping till I release my finger. This is why I’m pretty sure it’s fine. It’s one press per action, technically.

Here’s my keyboard and no it isn’t for sale.

Awww man! That thing looks so awesome! I’ll buy you Sunrise for it! (Wait, no that’s RMT, can’t do that). I’ll give you $10!! :P

Well, I guess but let’s be honest, the only mechanic that is dependant on how fast you click is literally just consuming/activating/opening anything in your inventory. It’s purely inventory based.

And yeah, I do love it. I’ve had it for ages, it’s great. The LCD is awesome, but I really want a G105 or whatever it is. The G18 is the super expensive one that needs to be plugged in.

You know what I want more though? One of those razer ones with the screen on the side similar to the Razer Blade, but I don’t have like $300 to throw around hahaha

Question About Macros

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

True, but she did also put in her post:
“You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”

The part that’s not quite specified is my situation. It isn’t an “auto-clicker” it’s click while held down. These are two totally different things, one is toggle, one is On Button Down. Also, the main thing. It doesn’t allow me to play elsewhere. I have to have my inventory open and my mouse over it and my finger on the button. THAT is what I’m curious about. That is not the same as her example, thus why I want to know.

Also for their criteria:

“Does this program allow someone to play faster, better, longer, or more accurately than someone who doesn’t use it?” – No
“Does this program allow someone to ‘play’ when he/she is not at the computer?” – No
“Does this program allow the user to gain undeserved rewards? – No
Thus I’d argue it’s within policy, but I’m not 100%. I know ArenaNet can be both jerks and also pretty cool when it comes to certain policies. Thus why I want a response. I’ll probably just put in a ticket with the exact G15 Profile I’m hoping to use and then get a response from there.

And haha yeah, it nearly broke mine too. I did Drunkark, Sweet Tooth and Party, so ~30,000 clicks. I’m pretty sure that’s a significant portion of some mouse’s click-thresh-hold (or whatever you’d like to call it?)

Anyway, if I get an answer from support before I get an answer here I’ll post the response.

Question About Macros

mexay.3902

I’d still like an official dev (or CC Member) response.

It would seem kinda of unreasonable if someone used a macro key that clicks while you hold it, in order to open 250 bags. I mean it takes a minute or two of solid clicking to get through a stack (which sucks a lot) or you can make a key that does it for you in a couple of seconds. The only ‘advantage’ you get is saving a minute amount of time and pain.

Also, I know the title track she’s talking about and that was a PAIN IN THE kitten . Clicking ten thousand times was not my idea of fun, ANet, nor are these “Eat 250 candy” achievements (what I’d like to use it for, along with opening coffers and such). I shouldn’t be made to click 250 times, that hurts after a while.

But alas, if it’s not allowed, it’s not allowed. I REALLY want dev confirmation.

Again, this is NOT an auto-clicker. An auto-clicker clicks for you while you’re away. This is a G15 key that clicks fast if held down. No advantage had. I still have to open all the bags and get the same chance as others.

Question About Macros

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

Okay so I have a simple question about ArenaNet’s policy.

I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and one of it’s features is to make Macros, one of things I’m able to do with it is button presses/clicks macro and set a “hold down” option and a time for how long it takes to fire off between each action.

My question is, were I to make a macro that did the following be permitted:
Upon Button Press, Mouseclick
Repeat while button pressed at 10ms Intervals.

This effectively allows me to just click really fast while I press my G15 Keyboard key.

The purposes for this would simply be opening a lot of bags like Karma Boxes and such, nothing else. This program is not editing GW2 in anyway, nor does this give me any advantage other than saving me about 5 minutes when opening bags, which lets be honest, we need an “open all” feature anyway.

Is this macro bannable? I hold the key down and it clicks quite fast? Certain mice already have this feature added. Can I be banned for this? Again, it’s JUST clicking, nothing else and it ONLY does it when I have my finger on whatever hotkey I set it too.

I’d like to know before I start going around opening 250 bags in about 10 seconds.

Edit: I’ve read the macro policy, but this is still in the grey area, that’s why I’m looking for an answer. I understand you can’t really give an explicit ‘yes’ or ‘no’ but I’ve seen certain “we do not have intentions to terminate accounts for this kind of thing” yet.

Again, it’s just using the official logitech software and hardware and doesn’t do it if I leave the computer

A more reasonable solution to RNG Boxes.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

So, we all know that the current state for obtaining new weapon skins is garbage. Nobody likes it. Nobody wants it. Nobody thinks it’s a good idea except NCSoft and maybe the Korean market (not being racist, but lets be honest, 90% of Korean MMOs are riddled with RNG and it apparently does well there). The way to obtain weapon skins and cosmetics needs to change.

So, a gamble is appealing when the chance is worth it. Currently the gamble is not worth it at all and some people would rather an outright chance to just buy it, so I’ve come up with a solution that will make everyone happy.

Two things in the store:

Cosmetic Ticket.
This ticket would obviously change name and type and such for every new update. You would be able to use it purchase whatever cosmetic items are in the box. One ticket = 1 skin. Price: 500 – 800 gems.

RNG Box
The RNG box has the standard stuff in it, (like the consortium one) but has a ONE IN TEN (1/10 or 10%) chance to drop a Cosmetic Ticket. This is a fair chance at the item.

Price: 75 – 150 per box.

This solution makes everyone happy. You can either try your luck on a box, for cheap, or you can avoid the RNG and buy it outright. This also means the odds are REASONABLE, while NCSoft and ArenaNet make their money. If you buy boxes, you know the odds are against you, but they are reasonable and fair. You understand that in the long run it’s probably cheaper to buy the skin, but you can luck out and just buy 1 box. If you don’t like RNG, you buy the skin and ArenaNet makes more money.

This solution will stop everyone complaining and keep the current RNG in, because I doubt NCSoft will ever let it go. I fail to see any issue with this either. More people are likely to buy weapons if the chance is decent or they can simply avoid RNG. It’s the same as precursors in for legendaries. Players can either save up and buy it from the trading post or try their luck with the forge. In most instances the cost is about the same and some get lucky and others get unlucky.

Would everyone be okay with this system? Personally if I wanted a weapon I’d buy a box or two and if I didn’t get it, I’d just buy the ticket. What about you guys? Would you pay for this method?

legendaries question

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mexay.3902

mexay.3902

Currently we do not have any lore on Legendary weapons (unfortunately)

There’s a few guesses that can be made, for example:
Eternity/Sunrise/Twilight is wielded by the High Priest at the end of the Gates of Arah meta event, so we can make the assumption that it holds some sort of importance with the Gods
Frostfang seems like it has something to do with Jormag
Flameseeker Prophecies is self explanatory
Kudzu is possibly a Sylvari thing
The Moot may have connections to the norn
Kraitkin is obviously a krait thing
The Minstrel is probably a reference to the Minstrel ‘profession’
Incinerator and The Predator appear to be of charr origin
The Juggernaut possibly has connections to fractals and the collosus (check the design and reference other fractal designs, also take a look at the Collosus in Cliffside and the hammer precursor name)

That’s just a few. I’d suggest heading to the lore section of the forums, they can probably give a better answer.
