Food Healing Nerfed?

I see a few problems in the nerving of the foodbuff, but this is more due to the fact there did hardly come any survivability for it into return.

I’m playing as a double axe warrior with a longbow as off weapon. I’m using knights armor, breskers weapons and a combination of breserkers and cavelaries jewels. Giving me about a 38% change to crit unbuffed, which however include 10 points in arms. I’m using a 20/10/0/40/10 build based on shouts and full adraline, which will give me an other 12% damage and 9% crit when it’s full. With a armor of 2.6k with about 400 of it from thoughness on my gear. Also I’m using runes of the soldier giving me a good way to remove conditions. The health of my warrior is about 24k, depends a bit on how well wvwvw goes. Since it can raise to about 29-30k at the end of the week in a really good week. Also I’m using a sigil for life steal on crit that always had a 2 sec internal cd.

In the end a warrior does not have any good access to vigor (we have 2 traits for it, 10 sec of vigor when get hit for more of 10% of your health with a 90 sec cd and vigor on use of stances, which are not that good for dps warrior in general. So we have about 2 dodge in the time most melee have 4, since most melee have access to good vigor and our only good way for damage mitigation as a melee dps is healing, since like mentioned before endure pain is not that good since you cannot really predict burst damage and if you can dodge is the better option in general. Really with the 90 sec CD on endure pain. Shouts heal only about 200-300 hp so that is roughly 600-900 hp every 20 sec if traited for CD reduction on shouts, if not make 25 sec of it. Healing surge which is the most effective heal if you don’t use burst skills, will give you about 8.5k health every 30 sec, but take in mind that in fractals where you have agony that goes over % health warriors have a major disadvantage already while warrior heals are healing for roughly the same amount as the heals of other professions.

So the problem is not they did nerf the healing food (with offhand axe it was really strong indeed), but that they did not put a buff on the other side so warriors actually can stay alive in melee decent enough without having to go full soldiers with mace/shield or something like that (which will actually make use pull even more aggro because —> more toughness and shield). Since most cases where I tend to die are on the moments that are like, okay I just dodge 2 skills and endurance is empty so I cannot dodge this one and it’s to big to run out fast -> downed again.

Anyhow I’m going to check for a new build and hope I don’t will hit the same point is I did hit on my ele before that I did leave it because I just could not find any nice build anymore after several ele nerfs.

A Warrior in Full Mace/Shield and Soldier is basicly a Guardian without Healing/DPS.

That is what I ment, so ty for conformation that was clear. However I did overstate it, to make a point

You can use your infinite vigor, +33% Damage Reduction, +15% Damage Reduction and go full Valkyrie mixed with Knights gear and you can benefit still from Omnomberry Pies just as much because your attacks have always been slow anyways.

High Damage + Heavy Healing + Survivability and Protection with heavy condition removal (which warriors lack.) and the nice 15% damage reduction signet, cure 3 conditions every 10 seconds.

Don’t like gaurdian, I’m just trying some stuff with my warrior and I might have a succesfull try actually. Something that is way better as a remembered it to be.

It would be interesting if a ele/necro/ranger even warrior (now that food buff has been nerfed) was on the pressure plate though.

You mean that corpse that hold the button down? foodbuff nerf is awfull, but probally for warrior a build change should fix it.

fractals anyone? spykit where most OP item in there, I tell you that is where the nerf came from.

And I don’t like the change also, it made some encounters with tons of mobs way easier as like get burst to dead or use them.

Do you live on the continent of the server you are playing on, since the reset is in the nighttime of these continents. My guess is you live in Australia or Asia and you are playing on a American server or you live in Europe and you play on a American server. In the last case you could fix it by moving to a Europe server and otherwise, I live in Europe and I played quite some mmo-rpg’s and only little of them have server on European time, so than my advise would be keep the time in mind and use it to your advantage. 2 dailies on 1 day can be nice for not missing out dailies you know ^^, I used those kind of tricks on games with their servers in America also.

So now everyone will play thief.. W vs W will be a joke now.. AOE damage is a problem when is made by siege.. a well fortified keep with decent superior siege can hold zergs with no problems at all..

Now let’s all play thief and make W vs W a big pvp arena.. it’s fun how they want to nerf this and thief’s keep winning vs 2 or 3 enemies easily with perma stealth and huge damage

culling, ones that is fixed thief’s will cry. Since due to culling their stealth is effective 1 or 2 secs longer and they can actually attack in that time without getting a debuff that will prevent stealth. So once it’s fixed they have to chose between getting the debuff or being visible instantly.

Necro needs a buff in my view

are people actually aware of the fact that if you cannot use condition damage on something you actually also unable to crit it? If you are not aware of it, check it. You know that condition damage tends to ignore invulnerability in many cases and in all cases in pvp? It never is as bad as you think it is. Beside like you can see in the video above the AoE damage of a necro is very high in pve, my necro does have a other build, but it clears just as fast big groups.

Open world feels empty

What´s really missing from this blog is the announcement of the “Underflow Server” for empty maps.

80ies still won´t dabble much in low level maps for the already mentioned gold-sink reasons.
Yet another token cluttering up your bank won´t change a bit about it.
And neither will some new event-chains.

See them once, seen it last. Back to Fractals.

Underflow sounds like a good idea, personally i like doing some world exploring and leveling alts, beside of doing dungeons, wvwvw, fractals, leveling crafting, getting achievements, ect, ect, ect,……….

And I actually meet up with people when I’m in low level maps, nice thing is most people do not realize I’m a level 80 when I’m busy with exploration, witch in my opinion actually makes it easier to hook up with random people. Since most people tend to think if they know someone is a max level in a low level area this person is not up for some social playing.

An underflow map, would actually makes it possible to meet up with more people, however I think if you are in a underflow you should have the possibility to actually go to your own server or to join each other in the underflow like you can do with the overflow. I only see one problem in it. If you have enough people of one server in the underflow, will they just be forced out? But looking to it form the other side of the coin it also would be a good option to play together with people of other servers without using the guesting function.

My way if I don’t know a dungeon yet, I go in, do some hammer time, die a few times and finish it. You will learn it down the road ^^. I don’t see what people complaining about. And if someone says i don’t know this yet, I just tell them stay out the bad stuff, stay alive and at certain encounters 1 or 2 things more and it just goes fine. Best way to learn stuff in gw2 is just to do it. Every needs to do that, only those people who tend to call themselves pro’s (I always read idiots because I think being pro is impossible since that implies you don’t make mistakes and everyone makes mistakes, only those “pro’s” tend to blame other people for their own mistakes) tend for forget in most cases they did start themselves also that way and that they also had to learn it.

And to be honest personally I dislikes those groups because they tend to attract jerks and I play a game to have fun. And in the end dieing a few time with social players is more fun as just rush to the end with a deadly silence in the chat until the flaming starts

Just wanted to let you guys know that we’re reading this thread.

Your logic, reasons, anecdotes and ideas are being listened to. Also keep in mind, that as I said yesterday, a skill can be a balance problem in one area of the game, but underpowered in another. That’s the nature of using one set of #‘s to balance across all areas of the game. So we’re keeping that in mind as we look at this. We may need to do different tweaks in different areas of the game.

We’re also not going to make a knee jerk reaction to this. We’re still gathering data, watching player trends, and having meetings on all possible ramifications from possible changes.

thank you for the answer, it calmed me down. If you think there’s a problem with AoE in WvW, nerf it in WvW, but not PVE, because nerfing AoE in PVE when some classes already have problems would effectively kill off engineers and staff builds of mesmer, elementalist and necromancer.

No prob. Some classes have a ton of AOE, while others don’t have as much. So we’re not just going to do a blanket nerf to all AOE – that’s not fair to all classes. We’ll go on a class by class, weapon by weapon basis.

And as I’ve said, we may need to tone something down in one area of the game, but it may be totally fine in another area.

For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address.

I’m just wondering, I know some skill behave different in spvp than they do in WVWVW and pve. Will there also be a split between WVWVW and pve, since at some points i have the feeling pve gets nerfed due to wvwvw while there was no need to nerf pve and the other way around. Of course I’m a player and there wise I don’t have access to all the data you gather, but since i play both pve and wvwvw (no spvp though, I hate the idea of getting rating for pvp as a individual or small group, where in wvwvw it is a an server and there wise it dose not bug me that much), I have me own experiences that sometimes give me this immersion. Like with certain ele nerfs that indeed where needed for wvwvw, but that actually made me quit playing my ele and ending up as a necro because my pve build just didn’t feel viable anymore. It was a very tanking hard to kill build support build, but on the other side damage output was very low, due to the fact I only had have offensive stat on each piece, either power or persion.

Necro needs a buff in my view

Only thing they should change in PVE (not in PVP) is removing the bloody condition cap, especially for bleeding. This is why you do not see allot of necro’s since necro is a profession that use condition in most builds (in bigger or smaller numbers). My main is a necro and i can actually do allot of damage as long I’m not in a party that does have an overkill on condition damage based members (more as 2 in a party is to much in general) and than i will see my damage go down, since my mainstat is actually persion and not condition damage.

@Calae.1738 if you did put some “I think” in your message i could not give any commentary on it, but now your just talking BS, since my main is a necro and I’m leveling a warrior at this moment and i have great joy in it.

Your endgame starts on level 1, your first dungeon that provides level 80 exotics comes available on level 35.

And i would not take SolarNova to serious, he clearly did see only a very small chunk of the game, there are currently get ascended items for your back slot and rings slots in the fractals, which is a dungeon to challenge level 80’s. It starts quite simple and it becomes harder as you progress on your level. On level 10 the add agony, here the real use of the ascended items comes in because you can infuse them so they give agony resistance and if you have the infused version they give 5 resistance without infusion and with infusion 10. Currently the only way to get ascended items is fractals (ascendent items have higher stats as exotic), but in the live steam of yesterday ANet told the new reward system for achievements that is coming will actually grant you the possibility to get ascended items also, however did did not specify the equipment slots.

And indeed buying a legendary is possible, but you can also sell it. In the end if you like an legendary it’s your own choice if you want to work for it or just pull one of the trade post, however i think the satisfaction you will get from crafting one yourself is bigger as pulling one out of the trade post.

@SolarNova, really try high level fractals you will see they are just as hard or even harder as the raids your talking about.

Fixing typo in character name without remake

Always check the name, I did not see it. And indeed a typo makes it unique, but point is I use a part that exist out of 2 parts and the typo is in the first part that should be the same on all of my characters xD

Anyhow I just think my question is more or less answered, just going to keep it open an bit longer, someone might know a way to actually git it fixed.

A while ago some guildies of me actually pointed out a typo I did made in one of my character name. I did forget one letter. I was wondering if there is any way to fix this, of if it is possible to do a name change in the future so i can fix this typo myself. Since at the point I was aware of the typo, remaking the character was not an option anymore, since it was already level 80 with quite some exotics and now it’s even less of an option with full exotic (except 2 weapons that are rare) and an ascended back-piece. And a fractal level i don’t want to lose. So the typo is preferred about remaking it, but if the typo can be fixed without remaking it, it would be nice.

Like i read earlier on the forum, where GW1 was in the end with pvp did took years of development, at the start of GW1 as I did understand it, the pve was stronger as the pvp. So i would say give them time, GW1 did release in 2005, 7 years later GW2 did release and GW2 is not even running for a year now.

tbh if the mobs keeps follow you you have highest agro, and as far i know they use the agro system for loot, at leas they use if for rewards on events

I only count 4 out of 8. And if you did follow the progress up to GW2 you would know mounts are not a option. We have fast travel and during the development they told us there will not be mounts in the game, especially no flying mounts (e.g. wings) because they destroy perspective.

Transmute stones no longer work on some gear

If gear is lvl 80 you need the blue stone, it’s called fine transmutation stone. The yellow stone called basic transmutation stone only works up to level 79, as you could have know if you did read the description

Game Improvement - Suggestions

I have a few suggestions for small things bugging me during the game:

-I think magic find is a bit of a strange stat on gear, that encourage players to think only about them self. I’m not going to say you should remove it, but i think there should be an indication about how much magic find a player is using. That would be more fair to other players, since personally I don’t mind people wearing magic find in the easy stuff, but at some point the 3th stat you sacrifice for magic find will just make it allot harder for your group.

-It would be nice if the loot in wvwvw would actually follow the player that did get it. The bag is quite small and I tend it to miss it quite often in the heat of combat. I think I’m the the only one who does encounter this

-It would be nice if people cannot finish anymore while in stealth, I think this is a very unfair advantage, especially for thief’s. Would be more fair if you can actually can give it a last try to stay alive, than just knowing you are going to get finished by someone in stealth so you cannot defend yourself.

-I think it would be nice if i can see my bank anywhere in the game, but only use it when I’m talking to a banker, just like the black lion trading post.

-Same for crafting, it would be nice if you can see all the crafting of all your characters on every character, but only being able to use the active crafting of your current character.

-I would really like it if there would be something done about the ganking behavior of players in jumping puzzle of eternal battlegrounds. Don’t understand me wrong, fighting should be allowed to take place in there, but just not the fact that people just going to stand on a position where they can attack all incoming players without risk, or even build siege and kill people with that while the cannot defend them self decently against it. Or the big groups right at the start (however those you can dodge if you are doing it right). The fact you can take the stealth buff more as once a day now really helps against it, however there are still a few position, especially the dark room and the beast arena after that where people still are able to gank from save positions. I think that should be changed.

-account bound dyes :p (yea I know very unlikely it will happen, but i cannot help hoping^^)

edit: It would be also nice if we are able to see the fractals level of guildies. For example the level on their highest character and on their current one. That would make it easier to make groups in the guild that are around the same level/have around the same experience.

Not to mesh your discussion up, I don’t know that much about GW lore yet, so I’m not going to make a list. But if you make a top 3 list, should you not make an assume about what dragon will be fought in the expansion the race will be released. Like if we are going to fight jormag in that expansion a southern race like tengu would not be very likely, keeping in mind that jormag porbally will be fought against in the far shiver peeks. While if we will fight the crystal dragon, tengu might be and option (as i did understand it right they live in the continent under the crystal desert). Dee sea dragon did not wake up yet, so it’s not every likey will will fight him in the next expansion. Than we have the fire dragon left, but it’s not really clear to me where he did wake up, my first assessment was in the ring of fire, but not 100% sure of that anymore.

In the SPVP department, yes. Probably 99%+ are disappointed. I have not met a single person who is maybe rank 20+ that says he or she truly likes spvp at its current state. The pve is well developed but pvp, which was gw1 forte, is not here in gw2.

I’m not a real pvp player myself, wvwvw did get me though. But i can see what you mean with spvp indeed, hearing about the great variation pvp modes in GW1, however it needs time to develop that. So my guess, in time the variation will become bigger and bigger. During the events they are trying some mobaform of pvp in a MMO-RGP and my guess is when they are thinking it is good they will implant a version of it that is always available.

@rukia, I geuss you only do the dungeons that are getting pugged and if you did read it well they are going to review all bosses to improve them. And if you are just auto attacking you doing something wrong. Beside the fight in GW2 keep you way more busy as the did in WoW while i played them, so you might have the feeling you do less skill but you have to watch out way more do keep your position right and dodge attacks. I wow i was playing a healer and i hardly have to move, i had DBM to warn me so i didn’t have to watch for que’s, so 90% of the time i was looking to the raidinterface if i was not raid leading for the guild. In GW2 you have be aware of your surrounding. Ow and btw you know you can disable auto attack right, gives you more skill bashes.

@dimgl and gorwe, GW1 have been released in 2005, i just checked it. By now there is way more possible in games due to better hardware, so yea things in the engine will change, so there will be in jumping giving you actually a new dimension to move in. And it makes it possible to make new kind of content like jumping puzzles. Or content like underwater combat. Beside i did play the trail on GW1, as far i did see you could modify the skill bar, without weapon decency. Better itemization…… sigh……… It’s just a personal preference. You still have attributes, but the give an extra edge with traits, so you can make a profession more fit to yourself. Better story………? TBH GW2 story is sequel of GW1, same team wrote it so where are you talking about? It’s called personal preference. The point in STORY mode is the story, not the dungeon. Furthermore there is a open world in GW2, you either work with servers or with overflows. GW1 had a instanced world so they could do district, but that districts did more or less work as an overflow. (yea i did GW1 trail and i actually missed a jump function and i cursed at the invisible walls, I prefer getting fall damage something about meeting up with an invisible every 10 steps) and now levels in GW1, I’m sure there where 20.

@everyone Personally i think it’s good there is no daulclass in GW2 and before you start hammering on me think about the next thing. In GW1 you had 10 professions. Due to the fact first profession did more for you as 2nd there where 900 combinations you could make on professions only. See where the balance problems come in? against only 8 in GW2 at this moment. That is over a factor 100 difference. So you could say over a factor 100 less choice or over a factor 100 less change to get massive overpowered builds and i did understand those builds where always in GW1.

Futhermore about the monk class, they got rid of the classic holy trinity. Since the monk was a healer there just was no place for him in GW2. As far i did understood the guardian is a merge of pargagonder and monk so they did not discard it, they just did bring it back in a new form.

But anyhow if people did put something in their head they don’t want to hear anything else and indeed there are thing in GW2 that can be better but that does not mean the game is bad.

I did experience and hear similar stories. Bit strange this is not fixed yet. Most games don’t have such issues however leaves that in most gives there is a real party leader and not a invisible “party leader”

Combat may be ‘fun’ or rather, active but it IS boring with extremely limited skills.. can’t deny that.

I do not agree on the premise that I actually use all 10 skills on my bar plus profession mechanic skills, alternate weapon kit, forms and the like. All of those skills have a use in the correct situation.

Compare to any other MMO where you just spam fireball. Oh yea there’s an optimal routine, but just spamming fireball gets you everywhere. WoW fans called GW1 the 8-skill game. The sad fact being that WoW is pretty much a 1-skill game regardless of how cluttered your screen is.

You’re wrong and obviously don’t play WoW, so I won’t bother commenting there.

I wasn’t talking about how many skills we use at a time, I am talking about variety. Builds, true customization, there is none. I am a WoW player and I never called GW1 the ‘8 skill game’ lol… moar generalizations please. You’re just like those players since you bag on a game you have never even played. GW2 skills are extremely limited. Has nothing to do with the amount of skills you have on your bar. I mean honestly, we can’t even move skills around on our bar??? How ridiculous.

I just feel required on this and i did play WoW. In WoW every class had 3 optimal build, with very limited to non possibility to variate them if you where playing pve. So one build for every talent tree a class had. And every role you could play did use 1 or 2 skill most by far, 3 to 5 you used on a regular base, 1 to 3 you did use on regular base at specif tactics and all other skill where almost not to never. So i don’t count more skills as you use in GW2, only difference in wow you did not have to chose what to put in your skill bar, you just did bound all. And the pvp build where more or less variations on the standard pve builds. In GW2 you can build a pve character in way more ways, you can build support, control, glass cannon damage, tanky support, supportive control, tanky damage dealer, damage dealer with a supportive edge,….., ect. I think the essence is clear. And if you think skills are to limited try a ele or engi, i can get both above 40 skills they can use without a change of weapon. And about the fact you can come arround with only fireball spam is in WoW is also not treu. So i think people should not start the generalization. I don’t know how WoW is now since i did quit it during patch 4.2 (firelands), so I’m talking about how it was when I was playing just before i stopped playing it. It might have change allot due to MoP since they change allot about classes every new version.

I was typing a wall of text but somehow I went to previous page, guess touch-path ftw. pushing it with my hand by accident just before pushing backspace. So i will type it down in short now.

Due to the fact i know some one in RL that did play GW1 I could join a social guild in GW2 that already did exist in GW1. There i did experience many GW1 players actually like GW2, the once that don’t like it they say they miss thing in GW2 that where in GW1. While those thing are actually in GW2, they are not there in the same way and there wise you have to find them. At the other hand I know people that did play other games that dislike GW2 also. An other example is a friend of me, he did start of with the wrong profession so he disliked it, i needed 2 months to get him back playing and trying some other profession and now he like it.

The bottom line is GW2 is a game that can be played in many ways and you can do allot in it. The catch is, it will not be brought to you, you will have to find it. This is not bad, but just not find for some players.

And to finish of with a quote of my guildleader that i think it will be very fitting here:

I do like GW2 allot, but for now GW1 is the best game i ever player. I played it for 6 years, but I think in time GW2 will be the best game I ever played

Path 3 torch event is pretty rough, even for our QA and people know how to do it. I have plans to soften it’s edges a bit (read: nerf), because I honestly can’t get a group to run the darn thing. It can often take long enough to do the first event that you could have done a whole other path if you are in a PuG.
My current plan is to drop it down to 3 torches, so two players who choose tanky/support roles won’t be so punished by the content, and then adjusting the way the spawns behave to provide more of a challenge. (Plans subject to change based on testing feedback)

I did P3 two times successful now, once with a pug, once with the guild. The torches are challenging indeed, I had a few other tries with pugs and in general I see there is about 1 “idiot” (mind the "", Couldn’t come up with a better translation for what I actually want to say) that is not listening messing it up, because he/she is not listening to an explanation. Making some else rage quit. So i think the problem about the torches is just that there are people who are unable to communicate good during a dungeon, which is a must on the torches. So dropping it down to 3 can indeed be very helpful, since you can drop people that are messing it up on some senseless that does not affect the actual thing you have to do. The run I did successfully with my guild was a few days ago, and due to a quite high dps difference we actually phased the starting point, the two people that had the lowest dps did start first, as soon they had one down, someone else joined in that just got a new build that did affect his dps and when the first 2 had 1 left last 2 with massive AoE did join in and we got the torches lit that way. So it’s possible for sure if there is good communication and if the group can adept to the situation. Ow and by the way first time i did it with a pug i was playing a support ele, low damage, insane healing, tanky and useless now due to some balance, (read: nerfs :p, ty ANet ^^). So i found a new favorite profession in a nerco using conditions and wells and that was in with the guild run. But what I want to indicate with this, even with lower damage is possible, it just require some more department, which is probably the problems for pugs. Since i have to admit we where using a team speak server with the guild run to CoF p3 and most pug do not have this.

In short: I think CoF P3 is some great challenging content, but I can see why it is to hard for pugs.

What I make up about what you tell, you had like 2 pugs that are of the kind yelling at everyone because they think they know all and do it the only right way, while they stand on the base of the most “mistakes” other people in the group make. In general because they do something stupid that force a other party member to do a very risky move to try to save the situation. It can be I did understood this wrong but this is what I make up out of what you are telling.

In general I dislike this kind of players allot. I play a game to have fun not to let other people yell against me. Personally I would have kicked them as soon i did not need them anymore if they had such a attitude, but I should say in a other game where you where saved for a week if you killed a boss in a raid, where I was a raid leader, I did kick people also if they had such a attitude and just did replace them. That is impossible in fractals, otherwise I would favor to kick them instantly and replace them if they go like that. Since it’s not really my way to kick people when I don’t need them anymore, I prefer to just kick them if they misbehave. Nevertheless this is impossible due the way fractals works at this moment, because of thing people did when fractals where just released as far I know. That is the point more or less, people who are behaving good, are getting punished, because other people are misbehaving and force ANet to change things because of that.

However the action form your guildy to tease them by dodging it in mist form is questionable, but the fact they kicked him for that is just not the way. You solve those kind of things in a polite grown up way and now as rage-full kiddies. Since if a tactic works, you can use it. In the end there is not 1 good tactic. So i can understand you kicked them also. Personally I don’t think it is the best way, but at the other side I have to admit I think I would have done the same, because of the misbehaving.

P.S. I hope i did manage it, to make the wall of text readable. It quite hard in a small text box, even with the use of preview function.

Its true i have taken 3 people alone with my d/d ele. Was it you at the temple of the storms (the naga island) where i took a mesmer a guardian and a thief alone?
Keep in mind this doesn’t happen because eles are OP. This happens when there are low levels or people without full exotic gear, which gives them a very good advantage…

Like i said i also have several level 80, 3 to be exactly, 2 of them with full exotics, got the same problem with them when wvwvw with small groups, from some of them i actually know they are full exotic, and i can tell you my guardian is very stubborn if it comes to dyeing (hammer, no greatsword). That is what I’m trying to point out. And indeed i know level makes a huge difference, point is it happen like 100% of the time when i see a d/d ele or GS guardian. And I’m not always in the fight, since sometimes I see it happen and I just not make it in time, so that means 1 v 3+ without me. That is the point I’m trying to point out. And I’m not the only one who is experience it this way, wouldn’t have post it is that was the case.

And i repeat it’s about 1 certain build, not about all eles, i play a ele myself also (mainly pve with my ele though) and when the game was not launched that long yet, most people where not able to kill me 1 v 1 but that was because i was to resilient, but i had to give up a great deal of damage to achieve that. So i had 1 v 1 fights that could take more as 5 mins due that. And that is exactly my problem with the 2 builds i pointing out her. They take very low damage whey dealing high, that is the wrong combination, since the rule of thumb is, if you become more resilient you have to sacrifice damage, if you want to do more damage you have to sacrifice survivability. And it might be you have the d/d build I’m pointing out, but i just don’t know what the build is so i cannot give exact details about it.

edit: ofcourse i cannot see names in wvwvw, so it’s hard to see if it goes about a few players or many of them. I know most them them i see come from far shiver peeks, but since underworld is already match up for 3 weeks against them and for 2 weeks against drazough i don’t have that much change to compare to other servers.

Mesmer only wrack up your mind and if they one shot you, both you and the Mesmer are glass cannon, glass cannon one shot glass cannon, as simple as that. Like you should have read i already suggested myself thief’s could be culling and other people say that is it. So if you read all before go in mindless commentary mode it helps you. Beside I’m not complain about professions in general but about certain overpowered builds (2 builds). To give you the numbers, 1 stealth form heal, 2 form utility, 1 from stealing if traited, stealth form some items you can steal, so i count 4, leaving out items the thief might steal.

edit: at leas i did not encounter a Mesmer that did win alone from a group without total wreck up their mind.

true nuzt, i don’t know the exact build they are using, point is just they hardly take any damage while dealing allot and I’m not really up to try it on my guardian. Since i don’t like the great sword and i don’t like the builds that are way out of bounds on power, so might be they do not use bunker stats for example.

I’m not a person who will complain fast about balance, but at the point i see certain builds always win 1 vs 3/4/5+ i think this needs a rebalanced. This goes for elementals with a certain d/d build that do loads of damage and hardly get damage and about guardians with a great sword that hardly take damage while dealing loads of it. important note is the groups i see them with vary allot, so the option I’m with a default group that takes them on wrong is not legit.

Beside i think there should be done something about the way to high stealth possibilities of thief’s. I just fought a gun gun thief that was 99% of the time in stealt against me and 2 others and did win that way because non of use had any decent untrageted aoe.

Also i think finishing in stealth should be made impossible, it’s low, no other profession as thief does have the possibility to do it, mabby Mesmer with mass stealth, but never did see one doing that, neither I have been possible to try it at this point, still one skill point short for it. But it’s also not a great option because it is an elite skill.

For the rest i think wvwvw is not more out of balance as it should be allowed to be, still get my butt kicked allot on my level 39 Mesmer, but i don’t mind, i just join the zerg or try to wreck peoples mind 1 v 1 with clone, which is really fun it it works out.

edit: thief stealth, might be a culling problem, still need to be fixed, just render an invisible char please, so it does not have to be rendered once it comes out of stealth

I have the soluction for you, see me as a questgiver that gives you the quest:

bring me all dyes………. 8 times.

there you have your grind.


Just really people who are thinking games are needing grind, become less conservative. Grinds are desinged to keep people playing as long as posseble. It’s like in the most tradition mmo-rpg you have to grind to some arbitairy number and if to many people get to that number the develepor brings out new conted to keeps them bussy for a other few monts for a new arbitairy number. Therewise they players pay agian for a few months and they get more money deu to it.

The system of gw2 aint based on a montly fee, so there should not be needed a grind to keep them playing. beside as far i know there are about 400 dyes avaideble. Incleuding base dyes i don’t even get to 100 ankittenep getting more and more double dyes. So it’s not like making dyes account wide makes you needing a shorter time to get your dyes, it might even be longer, since if they are character bound people basecly will just get they collor of dyes they want on a character and than leave the ammount of dyes that way. While if you make them account wide way more people will go for all dyes, basecly bringing do the demand hugely so probaly the prices of dyes will go up instead of going down as most people that are against account wide dyes. Conclusion the argument that dye economy will become like way to cheap is BS.

An other sulotion could be to say for each char slot you can put 2 dyes on favorite. So with 5 char slots you can put 10 dye’s to favorite, 12 dyes with 6 char slot, 14 dyes with 7 char slots, ect. And than turn dyes that are put set to favorite account wide, and ofcouse the limet on dyes that are putted on favorite should be account wide also, so not like i can put 2x char slot dyes on every char to favorite.

I don’t mind having 15 armor pieces with different looks and different stats. Or even having to transmute them on my 8 characters. What I do mind is the lack of space. :/
If there was a PvE armor closet like the one in PvP, that would be great!

I’d even buy this kind of thing in the gem store if needed be.
I’d like to be able to buy a “Heavy Armor Storage” on my Guardian and a “Light Armor Storage” on my Mesmer. And I’d only have access to a particular one from each character.

For this kind of thing I don’t mind spending my real money on. It’s a good investment and it supports the game. I could dish out a few € every few months for a useful account upgrade like that. The 20 bank slots are just not doing it for me (and I bought 3).

look i agree on the pve closet like the pvp closet, but tbh i think the transmution is fine. if you want have the same look with diffent start you just need to have several sets of it. I totaly don’t see the problem of that, it just keeps giving you goals ^^.
While if you go with something like wandrobe it just cuts away like allot of those goals.
And there is a other point ppl keep qqing about you need to spend money for gems, tbh i just get them with gold in a slow phase. I have 180 just with gold now and i just keeps slowly rising while i do not even have a real goal for them. Since i come around with the bankspace i have and don’t feel the need atm for a additoin char slot. But when i start feeling the need for it i will be on track with gems to get them.

tbh the max gold i had was about 6 gold and i don’t mind about that. It keeps me from shortcutting gear by buying it form TP. Also it makes me see way more of the beatifull world of tyria, since i don’t have tons of gold and fasttraveling takes quite some silver i just try to avoid it just as much as posseble and because of that i did find lots of intrest things. Beside if you useing the right asura gates you can cover huge parst of the world with a kind of fasttraval so the distance you actuauly have to walk are way smaller. I mean with the gates i know know i can get to the headquarters of all orders, straits of devastions and all majors citys. Combining that with the mists i have a fast way to LA. Ending up with quite some fasttravel without the spending gold on it. I just have to walk some more to get to the locatian i actualy want to go, but that makes me see tyria

Okay lots of ppl said arenanet said accounts will not become accout wide, i would ask you guys to verify this with a link that is from a thrustfull source. That means prefeble from a site that is from arenanet.

Personaly i would like it if dyes are account wide, but that is more of the “lazy” collector in me. In gerenal i have a main where i complete collections on and i’m not really doing that on alts. The point is more or less that i will end up haveing like only base dyes on alts and lots of dyes on my main because if something is a collection i just want to complete it on my main.

However someone mentions earlier in this thread something about account wide dye’s if they are set to favorite, but i have the feeling this was an idea because i tested it and it does not work. The idea was like you could only set a x number of dye’s to favorite and they will be accuont wide as long they are favorite. I have to say that would make me very happy also. Even is it set on such a number that it’s not enough for different collor sets on all chars. So that it would be something around 10 dyes, since in most gearsets you will have serveral pieces that need 3 collor or mabby even some piece that need 4 collors. So 10 dyes whould be enough for a set or collor for 2 or 3 alts. For the rest you should either use the same collors or get dye’s for them.

But like i said at the start i would like a link that verify that arenanet said accounts will not become account wide, since it’s quite easy to claim that, but without something that verify it, for me it can just as well be a bs argument that ppl that don’t want accountwide dye did make up to kill the voice of ppl who want it.


If dyes were to become account bound that would remove one of the major money sinks that are in the game. Currently there is a huge market for dyes, if dyes were to be account bound then whole gold sink would pretty much disappear. Demand would rise for a brief time but plummet quickittenhus causing dyes to be pretty much worth vendor price. (Not to mention I make most of my money from the system..not bias or anything )

sorry to tell you but buying dye’s on TP aint a gold sink. gold sink means gold actuauly dissapear out of the game. If you buy something on TP the gold does actualy not disseaper out of the game. Okay a small piece dissapear out of the game but that sink is call TP it’s not called buying dyes.


I’m still waiting for this to become account-bound rather then soulbound for almost all of the reasons above. I’ve quite some rare dyes as my collection currently features about 60-70 dyes. However I didn’t apply even 1 of them, because then I wouldn’t be able to use them again on another character.

The promised us 2 years ago that it would be account bound and I can’t wait for it to actually happen. Then I’ll finally be able to free up all that unused inventory & bank space and begin having dye fun

i play an elementalist myself. I mainly play it in pve, i did try it in pvp but it felt a bit underpowered in pvp. The point about this is that it’s very hard to make a good trait line for damage on elementalist. I always have prefered to play supports/healers in other mmo-rpgs, so i end up playing support ele. For support ele i have a very nice trait line and it works out very well to support, but at the point i’m doing things solo i have the feeling i lack damage. Like if i go to orr i always try to do that with a companion, a few days ago for example i went there with my guild leader who is a ranger. He also did have some problems with orr because of his pet acting like a agroshield for other players, but with 2 of us it went really well in orr, we did not die while i’m like best ninja puller EU if i’m just messing around a bit (if i’m going serious i’m not best ninja puller EU). So we did end up with 10 mobs on us everytime or so, great fun. So pve wise ele is viable on support, i did not really try damage or control. But i did notice it’s really hard to make a damage traitline. And about leaving eles out in pve dungeons, i go explorebles without even check the proffecion setup in most cases, however in some exploreble it really helps to have cetrain proffecions that are dedicated to a cetrain roll because they make it way easier, but that does not mean there a required. So don’t take ppl with you in pve because of their proffecion is just plain bs. At the other side i have to admit i can understand most pvp team don’t prefere a ele in their team atm, but that should just be a point of balance, if that is needed indeed. Since a other option is just that biggest part of the communty is building ele wrong for pvp.

really i’m going to tell you guys a story why i did quit playing wow about a year ago……

Mabby that will make some people see why the wow model is not the only way that should be chose. I was playing in WoW as a healer (here in gw2 support ele). I was aqtualy a quite good healer, but there was one problem why i could not do the hardest content. That was due to the facts raids did so many people and because of that guild most commonly planned their raids during evening/night hours. And really not everyone can play up to midnight or even later. There are people who actualy have a life and need to go to bed early because they need to wake up early. Because of that lots of player that actualy are good enough for the hardest contend, cannot play it because of the fact you need such big groups for it. Here in GW2 you need 2 man for the hardest dungeons, i tried 1 explore until now with randoms. It actualy did not succeed. But i can say it’s hard. When my friends have a high enough lvl i actualy want to try explores with them, but not during night times, but for example on sunday afternoon, that actualy is really wel posseble, since you only need 5 man for a dungeon and not 25 man. So there is way easier to find a time you all can be online and play it.

In my oppion the ppl who are QQing about gear progression just should start looking outside their litle box or go back to a game that provide the vision fo their litle box. And even more important, try those explores before you start QQing about dungeons being to easy since most ppl i see QQ here about that, give me the idea they did never entered one exploreble. And with storymode being desinged to be easy so everyone can actualy play it it’s not a good mesurment for the hardest contened. Beside the story mode here can actualy be harder as certain endbosses in WoW, since i heard stories from people that actualy did kill bosses literly facerolling there, try that in GW2.

However, it describes my feelings beautifully, and if you really want to know how I and what seems like many people around me feel like when we play this game, go google that image and read it. You will understand the mindset of those who do not find gear progression grinds entertaining and despise the rush to 80 to hurry up and get to the end game mentality.

to bad i failed a googling the picturen but i think i have about a idea what you mean at the other side i already try to state already a few time some ppl just lvl naturly fast, i’m one of those ppl, like i’m playing for a hour and next thing i see is i’m 2 lvls up and and my reaction is like, i want to level slower. That is because i’m basecly always in maps for under my level and that is not a bad thing by defenition, but if you take i mind i never did 2 maps of the same level range you mabby get what i mean. Mine character is lvl 73 by now and i have to say i perfectly enjoy the game and that is just see allot of the maps i did since if i start a map i just clear it 100% however i’m also quite sure there are still dymemic event in those maps i did not see yet, but is that a bad thing, i think it’s not. That will keep them intresting if you come there agian with the same character or on a alt.

But the main point i did want to state is, not everyone who is lvl 80 is a rusher by defenition. Some people just level fast because they clearly just enjoy leveling such a way that in the end takes out to be a way that makes you level very fast. However in my oppion the main problem why that is probaly happening is proffecion since i think the exp they give is way out of proportion.

I pity those who rushed through to level 80. GW2 is about level 1-80, not just 80.

you know the pain is sometimes i’m playing for a hour to come at the conclusion i did gained 2 lvls and i’m like, really 2 lvls in one hour that is way to fast……

I’m a lvl 73 support ele atm, and yea ele can be a bit squisy and idd the damage might be a bit low at some points. But really a support ele with a staff is just really strong. If you build it right you are able to do tons of healing, dispel tons of conditions, provide lots of combofields, provide your party with some nice boons and last but not least did you see glyph of renewal? That is in my oppion one of the best support spells in the game.

When i’m soloing i can tank up to about 5 mobs without kiting them just eating their damage while staying alive, it takes some time to kill them but i will. So tbh i just think it’s a matter how your are playing ele. Only thing is i don’t know how ele is balanced in pvp, i did some wvw but it did not give my a proper sight on how the balace for ele in pvp is. However stuff like meteor show, healing rain and other big aoe’s do feel quite good to use on those large goups in wvw.
