Dead serious.
There is nothing wrong with other people having more money than you.
There is definitely nothing wrong with other people in a video game having more fake money than you.
1. You have not substantiated your claim that the market has been or can be controlled.
2. You have not substantiated your claim that the game is being destroyed for other players.
What you have done is proved that you are incredibly jealous of the virtual wealth of others.
Again though, there is no way to know if any player is using these services because it is simply a website that they have open. It’s no different than using a timer site to see if Ulgoth the Modniir is getting ready to spawn. I could have a series of hourglasses set up in my house and tip them as needed in order to manually track the world boss spawns, or I could go to a website that alerts me when they are up. This is the exact same thing where you have opted to use the manual method while other players have opted to get alerts sent to them.
I understand. What you don’t understand is that they are buying a finite number of units. Rather than engaging in a price war, you simply need to wait for that finite number of units to be filled at which point YOUR bid is now the high one.
Buy orders are about patience.
You do not understand. At all.
So you believe that only certain people should be permitted to have the highest buy order and that other people should be restricted from adding buy orders that are higher? Based on what objective criteria would you enforce these (entirely subjective) restrictions?
Buy orders are used to get product at the price you want to pay. They are not used to get product as fast as possible as those are what sell listings are for. The OP wants their buy order to be protected from competition rather than simply waiting for the higher orders to be filled.
Let’s say that they do have an advantage because they get a text message. What’s stopping you from using it too and eliminating the advantage?
Let’s say the rules ban the use of it (based on my understanding they don’t since it is simply an API notification bounced to your phone), how can it even be proved?
The fact is, all the use of such a program does is speed up the rate at which a product reaches its actual price (the buy and sell orders represent the margins of the price spectrum of the product). Even without using a program, the person trying to flip the items (or simply acquire them for personal use) is still going to outbid you, you’re just trying to find a way to slow down the outbidding in order to speed up your buy order.
Buy orders are not designed to be the fast way to get a product, they are designed to be the cheap way. Just set your order where you are comfortable and wait for it to be filled. If you absolutely must have that item NOW, then don’t use a buy order. There are plenty of them listed for sale right NOW that you can buy.
F&F dyes.
And uhm, shekels? I…. like it. We should adopt this term on the BLT forum.
Does it have to be “golden shekels” though, or just “shekels”?
Copper is a shekel
Silver is a dhekel (short for deca-shekel)
Gold is a khekel (short for kilo-shekel)
I still think a minion summoning well is in order, summoning one minion for every 5 ticks done (shared between any number of targets).
We’ve already got access to minions from two of our elites, what about us Necros who have no use for the little buggers?
Well of Spectral Death
Inflicts Chilled 5 sec on each pulse (stacking duration)
5 pulses (so an enemy who sticks around for all 5 would spend 21 seconds Chilled)
On final pulse, the following actions occur:
Enemies of Veteran or lower – 25% chance to be instantly killed
Enemies higher than Veteran – 25% chance to gain 10 stacks of torment for 10 seconds
Enemy players – 10% chance to be instantly downed
240 second CD.
It’s no different than a guy who has a vested interest in having the high buy order sitting there and babysitting his orders.
It’s also no different than a guy who just so happened to log in and place a buy order that is higher than yours.
The fact is, as long as your buy order is reasonable, it will be filled. It won’t be first, but it will happen. Trying to beat out a flipper for highest buy order is a waste of your time. Place your offer and leave. You’ll get your item eventually.
If you can’t wait for your item, then you simply need to buy a sell listing.
I understand. What you don’t understand is that they are buying a finite number of units. Rather than engaging in a price war, you simply need to wait for that finite number of units to be filled at which point YOUR bid is now the high one.
Buy orders are about patience.
If your buy order is never filled it is only because you’ve placed your offer too low.
Any reasonable buy order is going to get filled eventually, you just have to wait for the buy orders in front of you to be filled first. Place a bid you are comfortable with and forget about it.
You have no chance at what?
If you want the item now, buy a sell listing.
If you want the item at a specific price, put in a buy order and forget about it until someone fills it.
Well, I managed to offload 3 recipes last night for 5g each. The rest of them were still fairly low value so holding onto them for a bit longer won’t kill me.
I sense a nerf
I don’t think so. A nerf won’t have any impact on the gold that has already been created, and I’m sure they knew that the current farming would generate a LOT of new gold.
I’m sticking with my theory that Precursor crafting will require a lot of purchased materials and they wanted to get the gold flow started before the crafting is introduced.
My best guess is that the Precursor crafting will require the purchase of a material from a vendor that costs 100+ gold.
I still have a huge stockpile of recipes that I got from the Zephyr Supply Boxes, and I jsut banked them in hopes that prices would rise. Seems like I will need to do some price checking when I log on later.
I sense some incoming big ticket items for sale from vendors…
it was advertised as one time thing so i hope they dont come back in game, since it would be a scam for all the people that bought them the 1st time
They were advertised as limited time things, not one time things. Limited time does not mean one time.
It eats your real life money AND in game money. Best Salvage kit invented by mankind.
I find it useful and convenient so those two factors don’t bother me. I’d rather do without the sound effects though but at least they are only every 10-15 seconds or so.
You received 1 million mystic stones from AP for mystic salvage kits and you call this overpriced crap useful?
It is useful in the sense that you no longer need to remember to ever buy a basic kit ever again. You also don’t need to carry multiple basic kits with you either (for those long farming runs).
This is called “convenience”, and convenience is useful. Convenience is also rarely profitable, so the fact that this kit technically is profitable (granted, over such a long period of time that it isn’t likely to be profitable) makes it ever so slightly more useful.
The question is not whether it is useful, the question is whether you value the convenience enough to warrant a purchase.
You appear to not. I also do not. Some players do. Those players will be funding the game this time around and you and I will to play for free because of it. The next item may wind up being our turn to fund the game. Who knows?
Traitors have always been an empires true downfall.
Most empires fall due to the empire fighting itself, not due to any outside force (though outside forces can take advantage of internal fighting to finish off a dying empire). There is only so much corruption a society can take before a critical point arises in which the government breaks down and new factions spring up to claim portions of the wreckage.
I wonder if threads like this would have existed had the internet been around back when I was buying baseball cards and trying to complete the set?
Personally, I feel as though it would have been more valuable had it been crude quality with no per use cost.
The fact that they only give you 15 uses with the crude kit is very annoying to me since that is the most cost effective kit to use on salvage items and white gear (since no blue tier or better materials can drop from them).

She had a pair of glass slippers and now she is waiting for a prince to return them.
4 of them give you a new random one (or a similar tier gemstone) with a 20% chance of getting an upgrade in rarity. It’s really the gemstone or upgrade that I’m looking for since the TP value of the masterwork tier medallions is usually the same as the vendor value.
What’s their motive anyway? Are they affiliated with the separatists? We need data!
I have completed all the achievements for the queens jubilee, but did not receive the completion achievement. Is this correct or a bug?
You need to complete at least 3 daily jubilee achievements to complete the meta.
Open your achievement panel, go to the daily section and find the one that is marked with the star. Complete that one and you will notice your counter for the Jubilee meta will move up one.
I listed Dusk on the TP after getting incredibly lucky with a daily “Mystic Forge” achievement.
Then when the TP bot kicked in listing another 10 at exactly the same price a mine, I removed the listing, forgetting that I needed another 30 gold to list it again.I eventually scraped the gold together to list it again, but I felt a right muppet.
And what was interesting was that I purposefully watched the trading post when I relisted it, and sure enough, within seconds of posting the lowest price, something had posted an additional 10 at the same price. That it was exactly 10 both times I listed it tipped me off that someone’s using a bot to play the TP.
Just so you know, the Trading Post is used by all players, so you’ve got around 1.5 million people buying and selling every day. The volume of precursors is low, but not so low that you couldn’t have been underbid by a real player. It is also likely that it would have sold at your original price since the demand is certainly there.
Additionally, that 30g list fee that you paid would have also needed to be paid by a bot. With the profit margins on flipping precursors being so low, you should take solace knowing that if it was a botter you just made him actually lose money on each one he sold.
Vendors are for junk items (junk includes soulbound items that cannot be salvaged or dropped in the MF) and items where the demand on the TP is so low that you would make less money than the vendor pays.
I thought everyone dropped those things in the MF. That’s what I do with them anyway.
I’ll see if I can find it and edit this post with the link.
EDIT: I found where a Dev said that they would still be available from the Weapon Specialist but no confirmation that they would still drop.

What it means is that starting with the anniversary of the game, birthday presents will be provided to characters when they have their birthday.
Characters created on the first day will get presents on the first anniversary of the day. Characters created on January 2, 2013 will NOT get a birthday present on that day, but will instead get a birthday present on January 2, 2014.
It’s going to work exactly the same way that birthdays work in the real world. They are just announcing that the first birthdays are coming up.
The solution to undercutting is simple.
For high volume items, list your product at a reasonable price and wait.
For low volume items, study the market and either wait to sell to a reasonable buy order or wait to list your product at a peak selling time.
During testing, they found that immobilize makes the boss fights incredibly easy to complete so they prevented it from being used.
I believe that a Dev confirmed that the back items would still drop?
A price rise is probably due to there being significantly less people doing the mini games now that they are being rotated and not current content.
What separates good players from bad players is good players find ways to win.
You found a way to win. Kudos.
This could not have been more wrong.
Your opinion is duly noted and has been filed in the “irrelevant” cabinet under “lacks supporting argument”.
Almost no one wants to farm. Some of it may be related to players coming from other games where they were trained to run the gear treadmill in order to keep them subscribed which means they are now conditioned to believe that farming is the appropriate way to spend their recreational time. Some of it may just be that they want some quick cash or need a few more insert random crafting material here. And some of it may simply be that they are working on the one aspect that does require farming, the Legendary weapon. But at the end of the day, players don’t farm because they want to, they farm because they think they need to.
Can you imagine the QQ on the forums if the infinite use items were cost effective?
Fact is, they are convenience items. Personally, I don’t see this one as being as useful as the gathering tools, so I probably won’t get one. The tools on the other hand have saved me a ton of hassle (swapping out mithril for oricalcum tools depending on the node I’m about to tap, remembering to stock up on tools before I head out, switching to copper if I’m hitting low level nodes for the daily, etc.).
If you are approaching this with a cost/benefit analysis you will not find them worthwhile. However they are designed to improve quality of life and should be looked at from that perspective.
Even though the nearby Balthazar shrine was removed, leaving no trace.
The shrine is still alive and well. Are you talking about the small statue?
Yes your point 1 makes much sense. Now that I think about it, major spikes in prices occur when some people farm a lot of gold in short time. Market Manipulators sense this and they will buy out specific items from supply line and re-list them at a much higher price. If it wasn’t for the sudden influx of easy gold, people would not pay such high prices and the attempt to manipulate the market will fail. Either the price of those items will come down or people will find a cheaper alternative.
Regarding point 2, I do agree that TP must be the biggest source of money deletion in game. But it does leads to polarization of wealth as an average player who does not farms much nor plays the TP will have to pay more for items and a market manipulator with tons of gold will only get richer and richer, increasing his manipulating power.
Then again I think one assumption that I made wrong was that market manipulators only get more and more profit out of TP. There may be some instances where their attempt to manipulate fails and they end up losing a lot of gold. Although 85% of that gold would still remain with the first sellers, the spread of gold in the market would be a more even one.
Thank you for clarifying mtpelion.
Wealth Concentration is something that will always happen in a free market. Some people are just really good at trading, plus money has a tendency to “attract” more money. Wealth Concentration can cause economic stagnation in the real world, but in the game we don’t have this issue because we can’t actually own property or control the creation of goods.
There is an achievement related to transmuting items. If you haven’t yet finished it you can use those stones and some low level gear.
She is a monarch. Monarchs derive their power from “Divine Right” and thus believe that anything they do is just.
As far as monarchs go, she is certainly one of the least offensive, but she is still a monarch.
The main thing you need to know about the economy in this game is that there are two major forces:
1. Inflation – Every time you do a quest, kill a mob, or complete a dungeon you are “printing money”. Players that farm gold are the main source of inflation in the game.
2. Deflation – Every time money is deleted from the game you are fighting inflation. The single largest source of money being deleted is Trading Post listing and selling fees. This means that the greatest weapon in the game against inflation is having a lot of transactions.
The problem with your idea is that all items will only be able to be sold once, which will drastically reduce the number of transactions being processed. This will in turn eliminate the majority of the money deletion allowing inflation to run rampant.
The other issue is that since there are less transactions, demand will quickly outpace supply leading to overall price increases on the items that are available.
Given the artificial difficulty involved, you beat cheapness with cheapness…that’s a fair victory.
Beating a foot soldier by using a tank is unfair, but fighting a tank with another tank seems fair right?
Beating a foot soldier by using a tank is smart. Fairness is not a concern when survival is on the line.
Again, I understand bullying and it doesn’t affect me because I’m able to see the bullies for what they are, but I’m also going to report them because the last thing I need on my conscious is some kid with emotional problems killing themselves because a bully no one reported abused them online. I know that sounds incredibly extreme, but bullies prey on the weak and while I’m no white knight who spends his day sallying to the defense of the internet’s fragile users, it takes me a second to hit report and move on.
Your idea would have the opposite effect of what you intended.

The password you used to log in here should be the same. If needed, initiate a password change here on the forums and that should also change your game login password.
You can choose to ignore it though. You know, not let those meanies’ words get to you? If you really can’t do that, you should re-evaluate what you find important and what not in life, because if the opinion of some kid with a keyboard is something you apparently find important, you’ve got some issues you should resolve before venturing onto the internet again.
Verbal abuse is bullying, in that it is attempting to control someone through overt action. While I’m easily able to ignore it, I still report it because I know that there are others out there who are susceptibile to bullying and these abusers are taking advantage of them.

Your placement in the arena and your timing are the important factors. If you don’t have a dodge ready when it is time to dodge it simply means you are doing something wrong.
