Just be glad the poultry isn’t rare.
I’ve got around 20 duplicates of the Insignia, the Jewel, and the Inscription recipes for a total of 60 duplicates (not counting a handful of other duplicates).
Still missing about 20 recipes. Too bad they don’t have a vendor where I could trade in these useless recipe duplicates for a recipe I want.
Does “loot” include grey trophy items that have a low copper value?
I’ve gotten tons of broken lockpicks, two Aether salvage items, and one support token out of the approximately 12 bags I’ve opened so far. I would say that I’ve recieved 3 pieces of random loot out of 12 bags.
Wow its this thread again. Tldr guy kitten he missed an event. Honestly though you missed b t you missed it. There are plenty of events to go around. Also some skins can be bought like Halloween or the jetpack. As I guy that oqns both I don’t want everyone walking around with it. The value becomes common instead of unique. Stop making these threads and just wait for other events. These threads show up just as much as “stop rng skins” threads come up
You have to understand, there are people who enjoy having things and there are people who enjoy having things other people don’t/can’t have.
These threads are always created by those who enjoy having things and get responses like yours from the people who enjoy having things other people don’t/can’t have.
It will be a never ending battle online as the two groups enjoy mutually exclusive things.
Not sure why you would decide to permanently quit a game with no monthly fees, but have fun in FF land.
They are a high supply, low demand item.
They may be valuable someday to a collector who missed out on them and who wants a full recipe list, but you can expect them to continue to tank as the event goes on. They may get a slight bump right at the end of the event when the new supply disappears, but it won’t be enough to make them a valuable item.
My guess is “No”. There will be a new section for achievements for the mini game but the one from the Living Story will not be available after the Living Story ends.
I’m not oversimplifying things, I’m pointing out that they are very simple.
The WvW achieve requires WvW interaction. WvW interaction is based around denial of reward. The WvW achieve is not required for the meta.
Ergo, you should only attempt the WvW achieve if you are willing to participate in WvW (which means dealing with people who are intent on denying you access to your goal by whatever means necessary).
Like you, I don’t enjoy WvW because it is about denial of reward (what you are incorrectly calling “griefing”, an exclusively PvE term). Like you, I want all of the achievements. Unlike you I’m not asking that WvW players be denied their enjoyment of WvW so that I can obtain a WvW achievement without participating in WvW.
Your complaint is that you don’t want to do the content in the way they specifically designed it. That you don’t want to feel like you have to do it, even though you don’t, and that you want to get the reward without playing in the manner they designed the area to be played as. That is whining.
No, this!
bovinity divinity! aisling, from jq … how DARE you contradict me! (tongue-in-cheek here)
actually, i really don’t have an issue with the achievements being put in pvp land. as someone else mentioned — when it’s an “even” playing field where people can actually challenge each other, and be challenged, as in the sanctum sprint, i’m cool with that. my problem comes with the fact that, as has been pointed out, the achievements being put in os DO encourage griefing.
i was a guild leader on a pvp server in wow for about three years. been there, done all that, so on and so on. i’m cool with pvp being an integral part of play, for many folk. have no problem with it a’tall. but the nature of that particular puzzle, and the ocd nature of achievement kittens like me, just means we end up with a situation where griefers have ample opportunity to flex their griefing muscles and slaughter tons of wee little carebare pve bunnies. that, to me, is a design flaw, and THAT is what i’d love to see addressed.
so. given that, i’d welcome SUGGESTIONS for how this may be circumvented!
The only flaw here is the belief that you should be able to obtain WvW achievements by doing PvE.
In PvE, denial of reward is griefing. In WvW, denial of reward is the sole objective. You must prevent them from obtaining the reward because that is how you obtain the reward.
If you are opposed to this concept, stay out of WvW and write off those achievements as “unobtainable due to self imposed restrictions on content”.
You want the gear but don’t have the mats. Your options are:
1. Farm the mats and make the gear.
2. Buy the mats and make the gear.
3. Buy the gear at current asking price (if any are available for sale).
4. Place a buy order (a “commission”) for the gear or the mats and if reasonable, someone will fill it.
I don’t think we need any more ways to get a crafted item.
Congrats on getting lucky on your first try!
Beating Andul requires you to play a perfect game AND for you to get lucky on his random timing.
If you believe otherwise, I’d love to see some videos of you beating him repeatedly.
He takes almost no damage when he is not in his “knocked down” state though, so regardless of where you target you should be protecting the Golems by destroying the Ice Spears as fast as possible.
You can beat him without exploits, but it requires a combination of specific actions by you and pure dumb luck. You MUST keep track of his Water and Belch CDs in addition to yours (have a friend help if you find you are unable to keep track of that many things at once). You MUST get lucky and block 2-3 of his Water drinks in a row.
To save time, I strongly recommend resigning the moment any of these happen:
1. He does not use Belch on his first move (you should always drink on your first move).
2. He uses Critique before he has less than half health remaining.
3. You fall to less than half health before he does.
4. You fail to block 2 of his Water drinks in a row (he almost always uses Water every 3-4 turns once he gets to half health).
You will do a lot of resigning, but the only way I’ve ever beat him is when none of those 4 things happen.
I think a more likly scenario is this:
You buy a race change pack that takes effect on the login screen (i.e. before you select which character to play). You are only able to use it on characters who have completed the entire personal story. You lose your cultural armor and have to buy a new set.
I started my personal story when I first started the game. Since I died so often, I simply did everything else instead of continuing it. Now that I’ve got several level 80s, I’m finally going back to the story and found them to still be incredibly difficult at times, even with my full augmentation of gear, traits and skills.
Basically, your only hope of living through your personal story is to go ranged and kite like a NASCAR driver.
@up and then PvE-only players would cry that their cannot get 2/3 of the achievements…
the problem is – thera are alwys somebody that will cry and hate system…
Fact is, some PvE only players are already upset that a single achievement that is not required for the meta is available only through WvW interaction. Being upset over that is beyond childish when you consider that while PvE only players can get the meta, WvW and PvP only players CANNOT get the meta at all.
I’ve got every single achievement for this event because I participated in every aspect of the game.
If you want to be a PvE only player then you need to simply grow up and come to terms with the fact that you are personally limiting yourself to PvE only achievements. Take some satisfaction knowing that 80% of the achievements in the game are PvE and leave the WvW and PvP players alone!
Check page two? You have an arrow in slot 5 (I think) that changes 6-9.
I think for all future Living Story Meta achievements, a full 1/3 of them must be WvW, another 1/3 PvP, and the last 1/3 PvE.
Once they have implemented this new fair system no one will have any good reason to complain because all segments will be treated equally, right?
(Please note that this is a satirical post meant to illustrate the bizarre nature of current complaints about a single achievement requiring participation in 1/3 of the game and no achievements at all in another 1/3 of the game.)
I cashed in all those WvW medals and a bunch of my Laurels for the +10% MF accessories. I don’t care about the WvW medals (I got them from the achievement chests), but I would like a refund on the Laurels if the reason I bought the items is being removed (the Magic Find).
I like the newly added method of storing skins that are awarded for achievement points. I wouldn’t mind if they found a way to have two kinds of skins per event:
1. Common skins which are permanently available from your achievement page once they are obtained (through any method)
2. Rare skins which are only available once.
If you want money, sell them.
If you want specific dyes, sell them and use the money to buy the dyes you want.
If you want all the dyes, open them, sell or Mystic Forge the duplicates.
I got my win without it, but I got the rest of my 30 races (25 for the achieve and 5 more for the second loot bag) after my win with it because I was tired of running the same race over and over and just wanted to finish.
Also, at this point about half of the racers take advantage of it, so it isn’t even a shortcut now.
If you are having trouble even completing the race, be sure to grab ALL of the tall jugs (don’t even bother trying to “run” the race, just grab jugs). As soon as you get the #9 ability unlocked (it’s the blue arrow), just use that and you will warp to the farthest checkpoint that ANY player has crossed (which means you could be moved into 1st place if the 1st place player crossed a checkpoint, and then fell).
This tip will help you get completions, even if it doesn’t help you come in first.
Gnashblade is a proven winner, as his company is probably the largest and most successful non-government entity in all of Tyria. Kiel is a soldier. Great at taking orders and a hard worker, but if you put her in charge she will flounder.
Putting a pve achieve in a pvp zone was a bad bad idea to begin with. I wish they’d learn to stop doing this. All it does is cause problems for everyone by feeding the griefers. If you’re there camping the puzzle for the sole purpose of pvping there, that’s one thing, but people have shown up in droves for the sole purpose of greifing and getting that empty hole filled in their souls for a small minute by making someone else have a bad day. You can tell which they are because they sit in huge groups right outside each entrance or right at the kite itself and wait. Save your “entitlement” speeches, heard it all before, don’t care. This was just a poor decision on the devs parts.
There are, by definition, no PvE achievements in PvP areas.
What you are talking about is a PvP achievement in a PvP area.
Once you learn how to properly identify things, avoiding things you don’t like will be a lot easier.
I just beat him legit using the strategy listed in the OP. I had only 100 HP left and everything on CD except Drink and Belch. I used Belch and he used Heal.
Clear out your in game mailbox. You are limited to 10 envelope style messages and are probably at the limit.
They have to have a cut off at some point to give them time to parse the data and send the message/gift. It sucks that you bought gems after the cut off, but you’re in the next batch so that’s the silver lining.
Supply of Precursors is not the only gate to a Legendary and in fact is one of the easiest to overcome. Doubling their drop rate would only affect one aspect and thus would have a relatively insignificant impact overall as the other factors would remain unchanged.
Living Story Announcement “Quest” will remain as an active quest as long as the content is available. It is not related to your achievements.
Frankly, PvE players don’t have a reason to gripe. The PvP players have to do PvE in order to get the Meta while PvE players have the option to avoid PvP altogether to get the Meta.
If you want ALL of the achievements then you need to participate in ALL aspects of the game. Simple as that.
All of this is so confusing.
Let me see if I can succintly summarize for you:
All crafted items have no upgrades.*
Some looted items have upgrades.
Adding/Changing any upgrade will always prevent you from selling the item on the TP.
*Except Jewelry
Guild Wars 2 is made up of several different types of play (PvE, PvP, WvW). The achievements fall into these different types of play. Completing all of the achievements requires all of these different types of play. Completing all of the achievements is not required to complete the Meta achievement.
If you don’t like WvW, don’t try to get the WvW achievement. It is not required to get the Meta.
The game is still bugged for sure. He can detect and punish bluffs with or without the buff stacks (as in, very first turn) and he can do so without actually using his belch (as in, on my very first turn he is able to call my bluff and put it on CD for two turns and then belch on round 2).
I’ve always stuck with the principle that temporary content is very rarely a bad investment. Still, you can’t pick everything. The question is more specifically: how good is the Dragon Coffer as an investment relative to other temporary items?
For example, after the Halloween event, I could’ve told you that Candy Corn would eventually increase in price. It could be bought for 2c a piece, and now it’s 10, a 5x increase! But it’s a terrible, terrible investment. You could’ve flooded your entire mule’s inventory with it, and not made a significant amount of gold.
It’s part of the same reason i’m skeptical of coffers. I’d rate the unit profit ceiling at ~4x, or 1s -> 4s, and it costs 1 slot to store ~2.5g of coffers. It would take 50 slots to store 125g. In this hypothetical scenario, profit cap based on my estimate is ~375g (-15%) , in exchange for 50 slots @ ~several months storage, minimum.
Meh. Not the best choice, though not the worst thing you could do, and again these are just crude assessments. If nothing else i’ll reiterate the fact that this is relatively safe. In my opinion there are just better ways to store X amount of gold for the same profit ceiling, and far less slot utilization.
Hope this helps.
Bank space is only a minor issue. The more pressing concern is tying up your invested gold in a commodity that would take awhile to increase high enough to profit.
I have enough gold on hand to throw 200g at coffers and still have enough left to invest in other opportunities.
I wouldn’t suggest in investing in coffers for players who are new or for those who simply can’t afford or risk to invest a lot of gold.
That’s a good point. I’ve got no capital tied up in coffers, my entire inventory consists of coffers I’ve gotten while farming so really the only factor for me is lost opportunity on inventory space. I’ll revise my suggestion as follows:
Dragon Coffers are profitable, but the profit volume is low. If you don’t have the capital to be moving more valuable product they are a safe money maker (since they can currently be acquired for free in large quantities) in the interim. I recommend holding onto a few stacks (as I previously suggested) as they are a safe bet, but if you need space for more profitable inventory don’t be afraid to liquidate.
I recall that the supply on the wintersday boxes was much lower though.
While the Coffers will go up in value, I don’t anticipate it being a large increase. There is a very large supply, and as soon as the next skin is available (probably 1 month or so) the demand will dry up and only the hardcore collectors will still be looking for the weapon skins.
Considering the volume of coffers needed to make a decent profit and the low profit point, I’d advise not holding on to more than 2-3 stacks.
There’s already 6 or 7 topic about this same subject….
Expect more, since the search feature on this website doesn’t work.
I’d like some cooking recipes that give really large buffs to a single stat, offset by 2-3 medium sized debuffs. In fact, I think a new category of foods “alcohol” should be added in which all of them have this offset factor applied.
For example, if I were to craft a bottle of Krytan Brandy, consuming it would grant:
+1.00X% Vitality
-0.50X% Precision
-0.25X% Condition Duration
-0.25X% Magic Find
The value of X should always be at least 2 times the highest available amount found on any food item of the same tier.
Like you noted p2w relies on a definition of “win”. With an ever evolving genre it is evident that the correlating “win” is evolving as well. Thus we cannot be tied to a strict definition of the term and as such p2w has a broad spectrum it encompasses.
For example) What might be considered a “win” in pve is not going to be the same thing that is considered a “win” in pvp. What might be considered a “win” to a collector is not the same as to a dungeon runner.
Since the scenarios differ for many varying players the definition must adapt.
Now how does an advantage classify as a “win” when it does not necessitate a loss?
If marathon runner pays for a cab ride to the finish line, is that p2w? What if that cab gets stuck in traffic or gets into an accident and the runner still loses the race? Was the thing in p2w question only p2w if it resulted in a “win”?
Doe s a fighter who pays for a gun, yet still loses to an unarmed combatant guilty of attempting p2w?
Doe s a stock broker with information who adapts early have an advantage over someone with out who doesn’t? P2w quicker?
Does time or money qualify as an advantage?
One thing I can comfortably note is that p2w confers some sort of advantage. What qualifies as an advantage is open to debate and very much dependent on the objective.
Advantages are actually quite easy to define. They provide a numerically provable benefit not available otherwise.
Armor skins change no numbers, therefore they bestow no benefit and therefore no advantage.
That is completely dependent on one’s goal. If one’s goal doesn’t rely on said numbers, then they are irrelevant and something else may be acting in the number’s stead.
In the case in question (where the goal is a look) the means of obtaining armor takes place of stats (means of killing). Thus the advantage inlies in how one obtains the armor and not on the stats the armor provides.
No, it is not dependent upon one’s goal at all. You cannot win at looking better because that is a completely subjective and irrelevant factor in the game. You may prefer to look a certain way, but looking that way bestows no advantage and does not contribute to “winning” in any way. It simply allows you to enjoy the game more.

Generally speaking, you will need to discover approximately 2.25 of each regular upgrade (insignia/inscription) to move to the Masterwork tier of said upgrade.
For example, if there are 7 upgrades in Huntman, you will need to discover 7 different kinds of warhorns, 7 different kinds of torches, and 2 different kinds of pistols to move from 100 to 150 at which point the masterwork upgrades become available and can be used to go from 150 to 200.
#1. Everything in store is available for Gems. Gems are available for gold. Gold is available in game. Ergo, everything in store is available in game.
#2. Skins are not progression, they are cosmetics; your personal attempt to redefine cosmetics to be synonymous with progression notwithstanding.
#3. Items in store do not have stats. Stats are requires for winning. Pay to win cannot exist without stats from store.
Because no business ever goes bankrupt from bad financial policies and ideas? Not that I think Anet will, I think they’re certainly making enough money with the RNG to turn a profit. But working in a bank, I’ve seen plenty of businesses who made the wrong choice in how to run things and went under, even when they were getting good advice telling them to do something else.
It’s a pretty solid fact that selling chances will bring in more money than selling products. What’s even better about these tickets from a business standpoint is that there is not a finite number of them, which means that ArenaNet is selling chances for things that cost them nothing (outside the original development costs, which are marginal).
This method is annoying for customers who really want a ticket, but in the long run it is the most financially sound method for ArenaNet to use which is in the best interest of all the players since that means keeping the servers alive.
I sympathize with your anguish, but your misery funds my enjoyment.
To be fair, if players focused on killing the pillars (with the flame throwers) instead of shooting the dragon’s face for 25% damage or picking fights with the champions the fight would still be quite fast (still longer than usual though).
If only. The pillars are affected by culling. I have experienced more than once that a golem would fall apart on what appeared to be a clear patch of land, only to have the pillar de-cull a second later.
If the golems didn’t insta-collapse the moment they touched a pillar, it would not feel so futile trying to keep the path clear.
That’s why I walk right on top of the golem for his entire path with the flame throwing going full tilt the whole time. You don’t have to see the pillars to damage them.
I’m not defending the problems, I’m just saying they can be easily worked around in the interim.

I got the error message after looting a Branded Devourer right before The Shatterer landed. I know I leveled 3 times last night, but I don’t think I gained a level at that point.
You can’t be “ripped off” if you didn’t participate. You CHOSE not to buy and are thus NOT ENTITLED to a chance to get a recipe.
Please review the MANY threads that have already referenced the missing recipe that cited the original text of the website announcements that clearly indicated that the recipe should have been included. The websites do not currently list the recipe because they discovered that they did not include the recipe.
Your problem goes back to the beginning when you relied upon the wiki for your information instead of the official announcements.
The official announcements all said that there were recipes in the Rich Coffers, so your argument that you didn’t buy any because there was no exclusive content is coming from your reliance on your (incorrect) opinion (informed by using the wiki, which accurately shows what you were able to get).
Your not researching the coffers is not ArenaNet’s problem, nor is it one which they could even hope to track for freebie hand out purposes.
