There are 44 balloons out in the world, of which you must visit 30. That’s 30 unique balloons, not 1 balloon 30 times.

Once you hit 30, you cannot loot any additional chests.

It appears that the chests in Queensdale are bugged and only one will work correctly.

ELI5: Food prices

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: mtpelion.4562

mtpelion.4562

It depends on what happens when the Queen’s Gauntlet ends.

Right now, everyone is either there or champ farming in Queensdale/Frostgorge. That means that ingredients that were normally being farmed are now being ignored by the farmers. If the farmers return to their old routes after QG (unlikley with the new champ trains) then you can expect prices to return to normal.

The more likely scenario is that with the new farming routes you can expect prices to continue to climb as the supply of ingredients dwindles.

1st PvE, crafting slower than leveling.

in Crafting

Posted by: mtpelion.4562

mtpelion.4562

Levels 1-399 are pointless, since you can fully gear your character while leveling using Karma at the Renown Hearts.

Additionally, the materials drop at such low rates (or at least they did prior to the champ loot change) that you can’t keep your crafting level on par with your character level just by playing the game.

My recommendation:
For your first character, pick up Jewelcrafting (everything you need comes from ore nodes which makes it easier to get the materials through regular game play) and use it to get some XP.

After your first character is at level 80 and making money, then you can worry about filling in the crafting gaps.

Food prices are going wild right now since ingredients are not dropping from QG. All of the farmers have transitioned to new areas for either QG (no drops at all) or champ farming (Queensdale and Frostgorge) so what you’ve noticed is purely a supply issue, not inflation.

That isn’t to say there is no inflation going on, just that the significant price variations are not related.

No one believed me when I asked about it in map chat either. I’m going to try again after work today and will this time not loot any boss chests (since MF doesn’t help with those anyway) to see if those are kicking my DR into high gear for some reason.

At least the coin drops are decent.

Or are you only hitting the boss? Drop your aoe everywhere to maximize profit

I tried it both ways. First hitting everything for loot bags, then hitting just the boss to see if the loot bags were engaging DR.

Look guys, throwing a fight or a game is bad sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is all participants competing at their best.

To hand victory over to someone might be “nice”, but it is also insulting/condescending, and poor sportsmanship.

How do you think some world class champion Boxer would feel, if he knew his belt was not earned, but given to him, because his opponent threw the fight and didn’t give it his all?

Poor sportsmanship is not being a graceful winner or loser, being a cheater, not respecting your opponents, and throwing the fight, especially if you get a kickback from it.

The concept of “sportsmanship” sadly died a very long time ago. Personal honor is meaningless in today’s society, we care about getting away with as much as possible, and the anonymous nature of the internet makes that easier than ever.

As for the boxer example, his only concern is winning. If his opponent took a dive, all that means is that his opponent gave him the belt and the money that goes with it.

Likewise, GW2 players are only concerned with getting the achievement, title, and reward.

Granted, there are a few players who do it for their love of the game, but it will take a while for the reward seekers to work their way out of the system before those types of players can compete with only each other.

So what has inflated in price that players who don’t have the money can no longer purchase anything? All I see is items dropping in price. As players scramble to build the legendaries to sell, they too will be cheaper since the costs to make them would have been cheaper then the past 5 months. Costs will drop considerably once players farm multiple dungeons instead of just Cof 1. All those extra drops that get sold to the TP from areas barely farmed. I don’t see the problem with balancing that out by adding the additional reward of gold at the end.

The whole point of nerfing the gold farming is to prevent inflation in the first place. The fact that the average player has not been completely priced out of the market suggests that the gold farming nerfs are working.

Especially since Dwayna has feathers in her motif, it would’ve matched the Seraph well and the Watchknights wouldn’t look so out of place.

They intentionally designed the gambits to reward skill. As long as your gambit combination is not doing something unexpected (i.e. making it easier to beat the opponent rather than more difficult) you aren’t exploiting anything. You are earning your reward and using a portion of that reward to play again.

Inflation affects the entire economy, not just select individual markets. Prices in individual markets fluctuate all the time based on supply and demand.

Generating more lodestones does not create any new gold (unless you decided to vendor them) and thus does not cause inflation. It does impact supply though which can cause the price to go down.

All of the T6 materials are tanking in price because the supply has soared due to the new Champion loot mechanics (and the Gauntlet). Farming resources allows you to trade them for gold, but it does not create gold (again, unless you vendor them).

Those are my opinions, yes. That’s also not what I said in that post. You’re still arguing past me instead of at me. Reading comprehension, please.

You can’t argue with an opinion, and thus I can’t argue “at” you and am forced to argue against your method instead of your content. What you’ve said is irrelevant if it isn’t logical.

We’re all having a discussion about whether the aesthetic of the robots is overtly sexualized or not, not whether they are actual women. As I’ve said to you several times now. You are right. They are not actual women capable of biological reproduction. That’s also not what anyone is talking about besides you. Not responding to you anymore now unless you are actually on topic. kthnx.

Ok, I guess I have to break down the implications of my point since it isn’t being inferred.

I am saying that because they are not females, they cannot sexualize females. Any female features that are considered “sexually appealing” are sexualizing the robot, not the female that inspired the design.

Barbie can be argued to sexualize women because it is a doll that is intended to represent a female while exaggerating the features that most commonly elicit sexual arousal.

These are robots that draw inspiration from the female form so any “sex appeal” does not sexualize the female form but rather reflects the innate sexuality of certain aspects of the female form.

You can’t sexualize women by making “sexy” robots. You can sexualize a robot by borrowing “sexy” features from women. They are not the same thing.

So you concede my point that they are not females and have adjusted your argument to be that your opinion is that anything that resembles a female is “wrong” as long as it meets your personal definition of overtly sexual.

Fine. Your opinion is your opinion. It is by definition unprovable, subjective and arbitrary and thus inadmissable in a debate.

Being modeled after the female form means they have a female model. You’re trying to split a hair that isn’t there.

These robots cannot reproduce and thus are asexual. Female is a reproductive gender and is thus inherently sexual. Asexual means “not sexual”. You can’t be sexual and asexual at the same time because they are mutually exclusive.

Additionally, the fact that there is only one model directly prevents that model from being a “female” model due to the lack of a male model. A female is a counterpart to a male in the reproductive process. If there is no such thing as a male, then there inherently is no such thing as a female as well.

Again, these are robots. They have no gender. The fact that you find their appearance similar to something that has a gender does not bestow a gender on that object.

I don’t have the same super sexist view of them as the OP but I really have to question their design as well. Why would they go to all the effort of constructing these things with boobs and butts to bounce silver pieces off of? They’re robot soldiers, they shouldn’t look like S/M mistresses. High heels make even less sense. Platform, maybe a wedge, but not stiletto. That is not a stable design.

This is why I like the Asura. Golems are big bulky blocks of material. There is no “asthetic” in their design because their purpose is defined by what they do, not how they look. These things make no sense and wouldn’t have been designed this way, regardless of that they shouldn’t have been.

The Asura have always been about function over form. Humans tend to be form over function in real life, and that comes into play in game.

When you get gold from events, chests, mobs, or dungeons, you are creating money out of thin air. This new money reduces the value of all the money in the system (inflation).

Inflation affects those on the low end of the volume spectrum much more severely since they already had a small amount of money but now that small amount of money can’t buy as much as it used to.

It is for that reason that we attempt to control inflation.

That is why farming for gold is constantly being adjusted, because the developers have determined that you are creating too much too quickly and that is negatively impacting the low volume players.

I guess for me, I don’t see being female/feminine as a weakness. I’m not the kind of person who judges ones value or capabilities based on what they are, or aren’t wearing.

That being said, I’m going to switch gears for a moment here.

Lets be honest with what is happening here. There are some players in this thread that are claiming sexism. They are projecting their personal beliefs onto these characters and looking for reasons to support those beliefs.

I appreciate that femininity can be seen as a strength, and I am certainly not ashamed of my own femininity, but there is a difference between appreciating it and fetishising it, and I am of the opinion that the Watchknights represent the latter.

A woman’s breasts and backside are far too often objectified for their emphasis in the models to be automatically put down to “embracing the strength of women”. I’m not a self-hating woman at all, and I would relish the sight of strong female figures in the postion of defending humanity. But that’s not what the Watchknights are. They are highly sexualised figures. And what’s wrong with that, you ask? What’s wrong is that it is a body shape which is glamourised to such excess that women are shamed for not possessing it. It is an unrealistic, disproportionate representation of what real women actually look like.

Real women have curves, yes. They might have slender waists and large breasts and comparatively long legs. But they still don’t look like the Watchknights. They still have far wider waists, shorter legs. A nude woman with breasts that size is not that perky, trust me. And what about women who don’t have that wonderful “sexy” figure? Do they just get airbrushed out of life in the same way that wrinkles and cellulite are? Either this is a sexualised fantasy, in which case it is “logical” (though still distasteful IMO) that they do not appear, or it is a “celebration of femininity” in which case, why is it only “celebrating” the women who conform to the most narrow, unrealistic version of beauty which exists?

If there were a genuine celebration of the strength of women in the game I would be all for it. And heck, there is, in places. You have female characters getting stuff done as opposed to simply being the damsel in distress. (Though let’s be honest, none of them are ugly or too fat, because that doesn’t sell. All the heroes and heroines in games must also be appealing to the eye.)

Yes, people here are of the “opinion” that the Watchknights are sexist, unrealistic depictions of women put there because they are attractive to the male eye. That’s because there is very, very little evidence to the contrary.

I’m concerned that you are comparing your human body to that of a mechanical clockwork robot in a video game. That doesn’t seem healthy at all.

My point of course is that mechanical clockwork robots in a video game are not human people and thus they cannot be sexist. They do not promote any ideal as far as body figure for humans is concerned because they are not humans.

Sometimes a mechanical clockwork robot in a video game is just a mechanical clockwork robot in a video game.

That would not be any fun to have everything and everyone the same. The difference is what makes interesting fights.
Like i said in another thread, the winners of the gauntlet should be able to duel with eachother.

The difference is what makes the QQ flow and the developers to constantly change the game to try and balance it leading to huge imbalances in other areas of the game.

If you had a 1v1 arena with any kind of reward system attached, class X will always win over class Y because of the mechanics. You have to normalize everything in order to have anything that even resembles “balance” in a 1v1.

That’s why I’m ok with adding dueling, so long as there are NO rewards attached to it.

I do not have a problem with them being rare. I do however, have a problem with the way they are obtained. The prices are ridiculous, this is no longer a matter of being challenging to obtain a legendary, but a matter of either being rich enough in real life to buy $250 worth of gems to obtain enough gold, or being lucky enough to ever see one drop.

The prices are not ridiculous as the orders are being filled.

If your plan is to have a precursor fall into your lap, you are going to have a very long wait. You need to focus your attention on getting one which means doing the following:

1. World Boss Circuit – Get that bonus chest each day. The rare/exotic is going to mitigate your costs as well as provide you with “free” chances. The bonus chest and boss chest also have high precursor drop chances.
2. Determine the cheapest way to obtain chances
A. Find the cost to buy the materials to make an exotic weapon of the type you want.
B. Find the cost to buy the materials to make a rare weapon of the type you want and multiply by 5.
C. Find the cost to buy the cheapest rare (times 5) or exotic weapon of the type you want on the TP.
3. Use the cheapest method from 2. above and obtain a bunch of weapons. Drop them into the Mystic Forge. Monitor the sigils on the output, if you get any valuable ones, salvage the weapon instead of MF (to offset your purchasing costs).

Your best chance at a precursor is to put 4 exotic weapons of the type you want into the MF. The steps above will help you do that in the least expensive way.

I just think there should be a box that pops up or some fine print at the bottom stating that you will not reclaim your listing fee if you remove the item. I wouldn’t have clicked remove then, I would have just left it alone…

For future reference:

FEES are almost never refunded.
DEPOSITS can be refunded.

This rule applies to real life too.

stop the scammers

in Black Lion Trading Co

after a bit of leveling on my new character i found out that the TP is full of scammers, to give you an example:
i searched for a helmet lvl 10 (can’t get it lower anyway) and found one in the TP for 1S 9C, then i checked the merchant and found out i can get the exact same helmet for 80C.

what i would suggest in this situation is that the TP keeps track of merchant prices so it can’t go higher then the merchant sells, it will make scamming players a bit more difficult.
now i am smart enough to check the merchant price but some are not, they get scammed all the time because of this.
a more alarming scam are the trait books, the adept one is sold cheaper so that’s ok but the higher ones are sold more expensive.
they should put a stop to that, it gives the TP a bad reputation and i don’t thin you want to see that happening.

A scam is a transaction in which fraud allows one party to obtain a gain that they would otherwise not have obtained.

There is no fraud involved in what you have described. Just for the record, it is ALWAYS less expensive to acquire any object in the game than it is to buy it off of the TP. When you buy it from the TP you are paying a premium in order to save time.

May I please use my tickets?

Personally, I’m not sure why they cared. The people who were rolling new characters just to farm tickets were cheating themselves out getting better loot by actually playing the game. The first floor of the Gauntlet drops tickets at a really decent rate AND provides you with gold while you’re doing it.

I would have preferred that they simply not send any tickets in the mail over making them soulbound.

Why I am very upset by this Queens Jubilee

The only way structured 1v1 would work is if all stats are equalized and all skill bars are replaced with the same skills for all players (i.e. NO customization at all and your profession does not matter).

It is impossible to balance a game around 1v1 because the professions are all too different.

Now, I’m all for adding in dueling, but there wouldn’t be any rewards attached.
