Or perhaps make it possible to extract platinum doubloons into gold doubloons, and gold doubloons into silver doubloons.
1 Platinum + master’s salvage kit + X philosopher stones + 1 mystic coin = 2 gold
1 Gold + fine salvage kit + X philosopher stone + 1 mystic coin = 2 silver
This would, at current prices, be 25.32 silver to extract a platinum doubloon into 4 silver ones. Silver doubloons would drop in price, and platinum and gold would rise (but at least they still drop at level 80).

You have a really really really low chance to get a precursor for an ascended weapon.

I can already picture a charr with angel wings.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Or just an exception that when a condition is applied with less than 1 second duration, any reduced condition duration reduces a condition’s damage by the same percentage instead. Seems possible to implement to me, but then again, I’m not a dev.
Or just always round it up to 1 second.

I don’t even know who’s trolling who anymore.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
This video shows it all.
Seems like this one got fixed. There’s an invisible wall at the jump at 1:03, I couldn’t even make it with a teleportation gun.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
No, because only ascended amulets currently have the Utility Infusion slot to hold them.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
You could possibly still challenge anyone to a duel at any location, but it would just port you into an instanced arena. Once you’re done, you get teleported back.
If there are any objections to dueling in the open world to begin with, that is.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Except the materials aren’t something you only buy when working on a legendary. When you’re done collecting them, you sell the ones you get as drops since they drop with pretty much anything you do.
Demand rises while drop rates remain the same? Costs increase, profits increase as well.
Plus I doubt demand will even rise by that much. People have been working on the gifts in anticipation of a precursor scavenger hunt for a long time already.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Maxing all crafts totals at between 66 and 84 gold depending on how you do it.
For some people that want to make alts that is indeed a bargain if you compare hours spent leveling vs. the amount you make per hour at 80.

IT’S HAPPENING
And as for meteorlogicus, that concept has so many small and fine details that would make it near impossible to implement unless it was the size of a greatsword. That’s what I suspect, anyway.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Not that these are at all likely to be implemented, but flexing your imagination is always fun.
Sunrise → Twilight. already implemented.
Rodgort -> Avalon. Shaped like a golden dragon head and more metallic (like howler). Breathes fire much like Rodgort and spawns a single fiery wing on the character’s off-hand shoulder when drawn.
The Juggernaut -> Justice. Liquid gold instead of quicksilver and Atlas is replaced by Lady Justice. Instead of coating your armor, the final attack in the auto-attack chain slams your character’s personality symbol in gold into the ground.
Kudzu -> Rosethorn. Instead of pretty pink flowers, this would have dark roses (with similar particle effects and footsteps) and caws like a crow when drawn.
Meteorlogicus -> Astronomicus. The clouds are replaced by a nebula and instead of an orrery it shows a star being sucked into a black hole. Basically just Meteorlogicus, but more space-themed.
The Moot -> The Torment. Looks like a rusty and really brutal mace, drips blood when drawn. Instead of the confetti effect on hit, your enemy splatters blood with a fitting sound effect. Footsteps are also blood.
Kamohoali’i Kotaki → Echo. Shaped like a dolphin instead of a shark. Because dolphins are awesome.

Don’t have a ranger myself so I can’t check, but I do remember they have a trait that increases longbow range.
Are you using this trait? Perhaps the range indicator doesn’t take it into account.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
They also drop from the Crucible of Eternity dungeon.
But whether you collect them yourself or buy them, you’re still looking at ~300 gold in items. You might want to look for a different weapon to craft if that is too much for you.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
1. Personal Story – not all that important, but Arah story mode is basically the end of it. Would be handy to have it completed up to that point when you do your first run so you can kill two birds with one stone.
2. World Completion – also not that important unless you want a legendary or just the pretty star next to your name, but at least it’s something to do. Higher level maps can also reward exotics on completion.
3. Gear up – hang around Penitent/Shelter camps in Orr (might need to guest on a more popular server if yours is kinda dead) or follow the usual zerg in Southsun Cove killing the instigators and you should have the money for a crafted 80 exotic set in a few hours.
4. Dungeons – I would suggest doing these with friends or guild mates if you’re a first timer, since random groups aren’t exactly known for their patience. They can be pretty fun and a good source of money as well, so this could also be a substitute for #3.
So… take your pick, you’ve got plenty to choose from.

I am offended by OP’s choice of dyes.

Being able to turn off our auto-aegis would be enough for me. It’s not up that often while in combat anyway.
Being able to turn it off like helmets/shoulders/backpacks would be nice as well, but probably shouldn’t be available in pvp due to aforementioned reasons.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Hey, I can see my younger self from here!
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
As it stands now with trinkets, Ascended items have roughly 5% increased stats over Exotics. Nothing too bad, if you ask me.
Only if the armor follows this same pattern and cannot hold runes, I very much doubt that sacrificing the set effect of some runes is worth this meager increase. For example, I’d much rather have the set effect of my shouts removing a condition on me and allies (soldier runes) than a 5% increase in stats.
Maybe they will make recipes that convert runes into infusions, or just give the armor rune slots so your AR doesn’t get too crazy.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Ehh… the bosses with instagib skills and plummeting to your death on jumping puzzles give me the impression that dying is just a natural part of the game instead of a big ‘’YOU LOSE’’ like in certain other games.
Not that I’m against it, though. Nothing wrong with some variety for those who want it (as long as hardcore characters don’t have higher stats or something). I just really doubt something like this would be developed. But hey, if you’re really that hardcore then you don’t need Arenanet to help you
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Kudzu, because it’s the only legendary that has an actual effect on your opponent. Whenever you shoot an enemy with it, they begin to grow flowers/plants from their bodies.
Interesting. Although I have to admit that doesn’t strike me as a big deal, mostly because I’ve been running around with a Flaming Dragon Sword since head-start that lights my targets on fire regardless of what sigil I use, so on-target visual effects never occurred to me.
Yeah, a few weapons have this effect. I think it has to do with the element some weapons display next to their damage, like Incinerators have 924-81 (fire) and Bolt has 905-1000 (Lightning). I guess this means that any damage you do with these weapons counts as if you’re using an elementalist’s skill of the same element, since the electrocution and burning death animations apply to them as well.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
The little fish swimming around it would look a little odd on land, though. But I guess it would still fit the necromancer’s style a lot more than the bifrost…
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
I only use them to res people that are downed by traps in dungeons. When you’re navigating traps you’re usually out of combat, allowing me to switch out one of my skills for a res when I see someone die. Otherwise I just never have it in one of my slots.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Something subtle, fitting, and aesthetically pleasing would be nice.
What if a glowing page fell out of the book and flew in the wind behind you every so often?
Quite nice indeed.
As for the footsteps, what about some fancy writing? Was a bit curious how that would look, so made a quick screenshot edit (attachment).
They’d have to use different writing, though (shameless LoTR ripoff in the image below). Something like Old Krytan or Old Ascalonian perhaps.

The torch also has footprints.

So the rest is just AFK in LA, only without a legendary?

Daily Achievements/quests/tasks/challenges/objectives… indeed, almost every MMORPG seems to have them nowadays.
Why? To keep people coming back every day so they stick around. Pretty much every daily in every game I’ve played shared the same feature; a moderate (and sometimes, such as in GW2’s case, unique) reward for comparatively little effort. This gives players incentive to log in at least once a day to do these (usually) small tasks. I don’t think I have to explain how this turns out to be very lucrative for the companies behind these games.
Even though laurels are only obtainable through dailies/monthlies right now, most of the rewards are not that unique. I think it’s more likely that there will be new ways to obtain the currently unique laurel rewards (ascended amulets, minis, utility infusions etc.) rather than laurels themselves.

WTF Anet? That better get fixed asap cause I dropped 12 gold on that. :/
I agree with you folks, that you may like or not the looks of the armor, but could we get this fixed?
This was already fixed with the January patch.
It’s seems it’s not fixed.
In that case it got fixed only for female characters. They were just like that before the patch on my guardian, but they got fixed after the January patch.
Pretty strange that they’d fix it only for one gender…
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Naturally, this depends on the legendary you’re after. A quick glance at my spreadsheet tells me that…
-The cheapest legendary (Minstrel) will cost you about 695 gold to make.
-The most expensive legendary (sunrise) will cost you about 1491 gold to make.
-Add about another 20 gold spent towards maxing the required crafts
You can fairly easily make 10-15 gold if you farm Cursed Shore for 5 hours per day, so the Gold component for a legendary should take about 48 to 152 days, not counting in precursor inflation.
Fully exploring the world (and, as such, also getting to level 80) depends mostly on how efficient the player is, but 2-3 weeks seems like a safe assumption (not counting WvW exploration, you would probably be finishing that during the grind for gold).
Can’t say much about Badges of Honor, since I’m not familiar with WvW. Perhaps a week for 500 of those?
The required karma would come along with the farming for gold.
Same with the dungeon tokens, as dungeons give a respectable amount of money as well (500 tokens isn’t really a grand amount either).
So altogether that is… between 69 and 180 days?

10 Quaggan backpacks could fit one that belongs to a Norn.
In fact, you could probably fit a whole Asura in one of those.

Do note that we generally make and update upcoming monthly achievements for upcoming months when we do updates. The achievements are currently set up for other months, but any of the monthly achievements beyond February are likely to change before we get to those months.
And here I was already making up my schedule for my monthlies in 2040
All kidding aside, though, I guess this poses problems for the people who live in a timezone much later than that of the server? Meaning it’s past midnight for them, yet the daily achievements have not yet reset.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
It’s displaying the daileys based on your system time, but the server actually hands out credit for completing them. So you need to your system time to the correct time. (It’s probably set for the wrong date.)
So has anyone tried setting their system clock to February? Are we able to preview next months Monthlies as well?
Haha, oh wow. It actually works.
For February it is:
Monthly Dungeon Participation (3 tiers)
Monthly Event Participation (4 tiers)
Monthly Salvage Kit usages (4 tiers)
Monthly Completionist ‘’You completed your daily category multiple times in a month’’…?
And another fun fact, the monthlies for December 2013 include Tixx’s workshop. So I guess we can expect his return?
Edit: unless we have the same Christmas event until 2069 (didn’t bother checking further), I’ll just assume it’s set to a standard rotation

1% and 225mb… Huh, wasnt expecting a large patch :/
2% @ 350Mb so thats roughtly 17.5Gbs ?? WoW
From what I gathered with previous patches, the % applies to the amount of files you have downloaded, not the amount of data.
So the first few files could (and usually seem to) be big ones followed by a ton of little files that download very quickly.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
meaning there is one 1 giant you can kill over and over and that is the one in Nageling town…….
And making the rather generous assumption that it takes about 15 minutes to kill and another 15 minutes for the event to restart, completing the Giant Slayer achievement would only take a humble 500 hours.
Yeah, seems a bit off.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
you find them in Orr. Don’t know if it counted Risen Giant though……And most of them are Champion btw….even the one at Nageling town……
I don’t think the ones in Orr count. There is a Risen Giant in the Plinx chain (not sure if it’s actually part of the chain or just roams the area), yet despite having farmed Plinx plenty of times I only have 1 kill counting towards my achievement.
Apparently there are only 5 Giants, 3 of which are friendly NPC’s and the other 2 are part of an event chain.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
I don’t think they will change any current designs because there are probably quite a few people that enjoy the concept of rather extravagant legendaries.
I think it’s more likely that they will release more seriously ’’legendary’’ looking legendaries for gag weapons like The Moot and Quip and such (and maybe even the other way around for the greatswords and other good-looking ones).
Of course this doesn’t have to mean that there should be a Sunrise and Twilight for every weapon type. I’m sure they can come up with an equally epic, yet different concept for each weapon.
Though to at least give those who got a gag legendary and were disappointed a chance, I’d say you should be able to salvage a legendary to at least get the Gift of Mastery and Gift of Fortune back. Perhaps even an MF recipe like Legendary A + Gift of Legendary B + X Mystic Coins + X Philosopher’s Stone = Legendary B.

So what’s with all of the animals gathering outside of the bank in Lions Arch. How long have they been there for?
It’s a bug concerning the Ogre Pet Whistle.
Thank you for the reports! This has proven to be quite the complicated bug (it’s actually multiple issues on our side); so we don’t have an estimate on when it will be fixed yet.
I’m afraid you’ll have to keep living with the animals for a while. :P
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
Sounds like a thief to me. All their weapon skills use Initiative instead of a cooldown, and it regenerates over time (or with some trait effects).
That’s just basing it off his issues with cooldowns, though. I’d suggest having him try out every class in the spvp testing area at least once.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
I’d be against something like this simply because you wouldn’t be able to show off skills outside of combat anymore
They could make it an option which you can turn on and off, though. Only it would automatically be off in pvp for previously stated reasons.
They uses to have a range indication during the beta, the key-bind shown at your skill would show white when in range and red out of range, too bad they got rid of it.
We still have this, only it’s a small red line under your skills when they’re out of range and they disappear when in range.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
I also hated exploring Orr to a point where I pretty much wanted to quit, but it was the last thing standing in my way for world completion, so I stuck with it. In the end I only needed just one friend to help me with 2 skill points in Cursed Shore.
Now that I have everything explored, Orr isn’t such a bad place anymore (from a grinder’s perspective). The mob density is actually a plus for that.
A few things that helped me were:
-Rushing into a pack of enemies is a bad idea (unless you have a group, of course). Chances of shaking them off are very low because the amount of control abilities they have is insane.
-Taking the sneaky approach usually has much better results. Try to avoid aggro as much as you can, and keep it to a minimum if you can’t avoid it.
-If you really can’t avoid a big pack of enemies, kill them in sets of 2 (or as many as you can handle) until it has been thinned out enough for you to run through and shake them off. This takes a bit of speed, though, since enemies in Orr respawn quite fast.
-Having just one other person exploring along with you makes things ten times easier (but more is always better, of course).
And sadly I must tell you that Cursed Shore is by far the worst of all maps.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray
You’re applying the “Legendary” description incorrectly. The item is the one that is Legendary, not the means to acquire it. :P
Then they might as well call precursors ’’legendary’’ and current legendary weapons ‘’extra legendary’’.
Because, according to you people, getting the precursor is what makes you ’’worthy’’ of one, and the other components are something any average Joe can gather.

Leveled my character solely by exploring the maps in their level order (e.g. I wouldn’t move to a 15-25 map until all the 1-15 maps were 100% complete). I was around level 40 when I was ready to move on to the level 25+ fields.
Downside is that you’ll be downleveled pretty much all the time (you catch up with that at around level 60), but I found map completion a much more fun goal to work towards than just scavenging maps for XP.

I agree that daily achievements have a rather big impact on the achievement point system as a whole since these points show no real difference between completing the most annoying jump quest ever and chopping a few trees along with doing a few events.
Daily/Monthly achievements still give XP for each tier and the Mystic Coins upon completion, so they would still serve their purpose without also giving achievement points.
But after all, it’s just a number you can only brag about. Would be more of an issue if they could be used as some sort of currency.
