It’s all fun and games at Guild Wars 2’s dragon bash until someone turns up murdered in Lion’s Arch. That’s what sets the stage for the newest game update, Sky Pirates of Tyria. Launching on June 25th, the update will see players thrown into a murder investigation headed by Inspector Ellen Kiel, forcing everyone to take part in several events to track down the perpetrator. If you’re thinking it’s going to have something to do with the eponymous pirates, well, that’s a reasonable guess.

This update sees the addition of a new dungeon, the Aetherblade Retreat, which pits players against pirates of a decidedly aerial nature. It also features a wide-scale revamp of traits and skills for every profession to promote a wider range of playable builds, a variety of new rewards including miniatures and monocles, and an all-new event tying into the upcoming novel Sea of Sorrows. Custom Arenas and Spectator Mode for PvP are also leaving beta, giving players more ways to enjoy a spirited battle with friends and enemies. Our own Richie Procopio will be taking part in a press preview this weekend, so tune in before launch for a closer look at the details.

I’m with you on a lot of this but I’m not seeing why everyone thinks ‘the trinity’ is such a good thing. I’m not an MMO player, I played MUDs, and we never had a ‘trinity’. A system based totally around three types of classes is really boring and static. The way GW2 did it is great, IMHO, except that better healing options are needed for every class.

i don’t really know, this is my first mmo so i have no idea if is bad or good, many threads ask for it, and imho is petty clear is not coming back.
if i had to chose i’d chose not have it since i don’t like fixed roles..
my post wasmore meant to recall all the promisses made to the player base. with a bit of trolling i admit lol.

i’m like 6100 and something, this is also usefull to identify under 80 char eperience.
i mean, ifi’m pugging ac and a lvl40 char joins, if he is like 1000 or more then i probably levelling an alt, so i an assume hes fine with games core mechanics, i don’t expect him to know abbout cobos and so r what defiant is, or to have learnt avery single animations therfore how to avoid hits, nor to be a speed runner but at lest i can epect him not t die at first lizard we fid.
ofc going up with points means is 3rd 4rd 5th alt or maybe not but they do fine measuring a player experience…
the point is also that even if he logged in just to do dailys and nothing more he’s still more likely to have good experience in the game.
I usually don’t mind, but sometimes i simply want a smooth and quick run, so i try not to pug with underleveled or inexperienced guys, but most of the time i accep anyone at least dungeon exp ode level and up.
we were all nobs till someone shown us the way through it.
can still emember we entered solo in ac at level 8, cause was there lol and got kitten d by the first trap!

what’s really sadabout repetable achiveents, specially daily, is that thy used to give out 40 achi pointa day iirc! a new player would not reach to rank ever unless i’d say topo 3000 players at least stop playing rfrom Tomorrow!
at least there are no more infinitley repetable ridiculus achivements, like agent of entropy which was really infinite, and points were taken off from abusers so now we have a huma liek top rank, while b4 was like 20k+
better get trustwothness for dailys the for gazilion salvaged whites!

what i hope, since was promissed to come soon enough is:
-lfg tool , not a moment too soon
- improvment in lag and culling aka “tha end of pve culling!” since has ben “not volountarly” spoiled
- the end of “beta” for custom arena
-class balance

and these can be quite realistic expectations.

there can be:
-loot revamp!! as promised by colin “sometime this summer” but don’t hold ur breath
-the s@#][ hunt, that word u cannot say without flames coming dow from the sky
-areal toal split of wvw pvp and pve

thee are unlikely but still possible imho.

and then the third category, i call “leve your hopes”
-MOUNTS, no i’m pretty sure we ain’t gonna get them
-he end of rng boxes
- reintroduction of trinity
-the end of dailys
-locker for skins like pvp
-increased stack size for current collectibles
-dungeon tokens collectible tab or tokens “virtualization”

these are NOT likely to happen because most of them will reduce real money income or gold sinks or a enormus remake of the engine..
then we can switch off speculation mode..

all i can say intel>amd almost in all games. the gpu handles the quality of the graphics, but when there are a lot of char moving, lot of phisics and so.
Sadly i can tell you that i have similar results with a 955 quad core, very old compared to yours..
the point is that probably a 1100 black will perform even btter for some kind of games, but this may change when next gen consoles comes out.
And as new console will run on amd, we can expect ported games to run quite good.
At the moment ther’s no am3+ upgrade Worth the cos (even if as low as 200$) worh the cost, if youare foer some reson an amd fanboy, and wanna do mstly gaming i’d say that 4 cores with higher frequency is better than 8 with lower, for a smaller price. probably could even be overclocked more due to less cores and less heat.
since gw2 was developed for pc i really don’t get why doesn’t support multi thread, i’m no dev but is obvious that these engines running sigle thread are like a brand new audi s5 with a 4.2 v8 running in powersaving modeand turning off half of th cylynders.. this happens for real, but is done for fuel saving, can’t really see here the same benefit!!

people fails to say that berserker and surviveability go alll along.
talkin about pve open world is pointless, anything with someexception (mostly orr and southsun) can be done with zerker builds.
in dungeons that’s not so true, obviously i’ talking about normal peoples and not self proclamed gods.
You can be an excellent player but probably you’ll end up dead anyway if other are not.
Even cof p1 as faceroll as itits may pose serious treaths to very unexp players if in zerker mode.
An all zerker Group (4 warr 1 mesm no noobs stuff) doesn’t always work, my mai is a warrior an i have two different geaar sets, 1 full zerker cause is fun and a knight one for when can’t affor to get downed for various reasonat’s first step in versatility , you cna mix match just going out of combat.
build actually sucks sice you have to talk to kitten npc.
Dungeon-wise the composition i apriciate most is 2 guard 2war and 1 either zerker staff ele, condition necro orzerker mesmer (dunno cond mesemer and how it works)
Every class is suitted to it role, personally in pve i don’t likebunker eles or those kinds of wired stuff.
we’re playing an rpg at the end.
If you have a warrior you can’t do anything better than go dps,with, if you have guard is plain stupid (IMHO!!!!)
As someone said we have no meters so i can’t be sure but inhard content you need still to do dps, so warrs (also thief) are needed and as Others said is better to spec for dps. but thm alone will last not too long.
here comes guardian role, they are no healers, true but can effectively negate Attacks, grant protections and other very jucy boons, just think at those awsome 12 stacks of might… mmm. true that these are stuff they can do full zerker but for dps to deal dps (lol) they need to get agro, if they get agro tey can get hit and probably is beter for them tu be def specced. don’t know guardian that deeply but in such formation an ah guardian and a more bunkerone would be perfect.
The idea is simple though guard get aggro, block some attacks when other fail at dodging, squishy warr do bad things.
still one more problem, warrs tend to be hard to play and theyr damange while awsome is situational, is burst, and not sustainable in a very hard fight.
what’s needed is then is someone capable to keep up the dps while warrs are away lickin theyr wounds or simply have to wait i.e. for that nasty aoe to vanish.
here is about preference, my favourite is ele, or better zerker staf ele.
I say ele cause he is so kitten versatile, all those cc (1 for all cc i mean freze, cripple and so, all those not affected by defiant!) healing, cond removal, massive aoe dps, blinds, and… say one ele has it. whith on top 1200 range and a sorrounding of combo fields.
this is a matter of preference, u can swap ele with mesmer for easyer content, or with necro for condition damange, wich is sustained damange for definition specially since mobs can’t remove them atm.

so no and no thoughness and vitality are usefull, very usefull, but make me laug to hear talkin aboutsome strange build, as much as those saying onluy warr only dps.
a good team composition is key to do harder content specially for common mortals.

god mode zerker guys soloing lupicus and saying tha is too easy, and that zerker is only way can either swap to a different game or try to solo him naked lol

p.s.
sadly atm i see no real good use for a ranger, often for engis too.. but since i blame anet for this, for not taking up to par with other classes, for not giving them their own personality, i never refuse tu pug with them. neither should you, at least you can consider it part of the challenge.

hi guys,
after all this gw2 playing, i eventually got bored a bit, and all those flks telling me to change game made me think that ther’s no better game to try than gw1.
i was looking to the website and with all those expansions and stuff i cannot understand what i need to buy in order to play decently.
i mean should i buy the game + all the expansion? how much would it cost to me?
craziest thing is that i need two licenses coz my gf isgonna follow me too.
i’m doing this because every time i read something about gw1 i have no idea of what’s that about and i want to actually make use of that hall of monuments.

i wanna try gw1, is enough the game or i need all expansion because all ppl stil playing plays expansion exclusive content?

or remove magic find at all and make it vailable only in this way, permanent and even large scale like 1-2% mf every level gained on top of wht is alrady provided (skill point).
we can comfortably say that this would hurt noone, and would mitigate the immense pool of unluckyness of those complaining about it while making you more likely to drop somthing more than vendor, the more you play the game.
this would provide a secondary progression, an increase of rare drops, an increase of precursors drop, a win win for everybody.
good idea op.

Difficulty and the Casual Player

i feel that the problem is just a l2p issue.
when i started to play back inoctober i had the same issue, then adapted the paystile, the build and soon and the problem disapeared.
then i started running dungeons and first ac run was a wipefest, as b4, the 5 run was no more issue.
same for coe, first run was a fail after 3 hours, died milion times at lasers, or at aphas.
then started running it daily.
well then ther’s arah lol and lupicus lol, same as b4.
simin is a bit different ut not so much, just try, fail retry and refail, then eventually succede.
now, about southsun, with a thief, is one of the worst case scenario! as a thief ur very squishy (i have one), and f as i assume u run d/d and a ranged weap, u must have noticed already that thief biggest limit is that most of he skills are signnnnnnnnnnnle target.
not only you can’t facetank 3 mobs, coz u die, but can’t even hit them at same time.
now this implies that you cannot kite around agroing 100 of mobs meanwhile.
then ofc dependson your bild, if is a burst build then you usually rely on single target, and avoid large Group fight. you usuall rely on backstab and with karka is had to do it since u have fewclue on what is back lol.
i do agree that thief is the less desireable class for solo play along with staf ele and probably engi.
also, thief have very few condition removal, but stealt as a payback.
this makes thief a non beginner class imho.
i knw that as a casual ur unlikely to cap another profession, but i strogly suggest that, and also suggest to pick up an heavy armor one, like guardian if you like tanky playstile, or wrrior if you wanna do great dps wile not exploding every sinle time.
i know is rude, but class selection is actually the difficulty selcton everybody is asking for, same content don with a guardian or a glas cannon thief is like two differen planets.
an i’m not saying that warr is a must be choice, is simply easyer!

as first char i chose a silvary ele, deleted at lvl10 bcause was unplayable for me.
rolled a char warr, wich is now my main, and still enjoying it.
then i rolled a thief, a little asura, and quite enjoyed levling even if was a pain.
after that i leveled an ele and was awsom.
i simply l2p!

If you consider DPS meter, try to play PvP. When you die, you will see “DPS meter” there, and you will be surprised, condition do 100 k damage to you.

Exactly this, that’s what i expect from a dps meter. but far more extended that that one we see in pvp.

i understand that that may not apeal everybody, but “theorycrafting” is a huge part of the endgame for some people at least.
i see complains about build varieties but imho without tools is just 100b=30k=me stronk smash!

i’m no expert on this, i also admit i never ever played a game with such meters or trinity or those stuff.
i just think that the data provided to us is largely unsufficent, and hardly sortable specially for beginners.
Also the agro mechanism is an obscure sience for most(me included lol).
we all know that power, prec, crit scales well togetherso you use exlusively this and get max dps..
but what about build and traits? and if you wnat to mix better lose some precision or power or what?
also, condition damange or duration? thougnes or vit?
since the game is already dps or death i dont see how such tool could make thing worst.

I see no point in actually putting an opinion to the OP that doesn’t actually side with his/her desire for DPS meters.. everyone that disagrees is obviously wrong or doesn’t understand etc etc.

GW2LFG does get filled with the “must be zerk warrior” mindset posts, simply because (and I will use the most popular dungeon) CoF1 is nothing more than a speed run fiasco created by Anets poor understanding of their own balancing mechanics.

If warrior DPS was balanced back towards other classes then those LFG’s would shiftshape into the next desired DPS build until ANET finally address the holes that exist.

There really aren’t that many options to class builds in GW2 anyway so the ones that do stand out currently become noticeably obvious very quickly… PvE, WwV, PvP has no balance across them pure and simply and until something is done, and I mean properly done not just knee-jerk nerfbat reactions to classes, then DPS monkey posts and “special snowflake, look at my DPS” requests will only increase to get speedruns done asap.

Taking out things like healing trinity is great on paper, but it has made for the game to become nothing more than zerg wars, where tactics and teamplay become lost in the numbers game… miss out as many engagements as possible, run to the end boss and dps dps dps.. take loot, log off… and its why I think the game has lost a lot of substance so soon.. for me at least… solution – provide classes more build variance and dungeons, WvW, PvP more challenging in the form of requirements within it.

Until this happens.. things like DPS meters will only serve to further segregate the playerbase.. moreso than the poor class balancing already does.

i mostly agree with you, but what i’m trying to say is that segregation work both ways..
We all hate elitists, but for some wired reasons we consider them the best players and try to join their groups..
as i said segregation is two headed sword, they don’t want noobs?, i gladly take them, when they’ll find amongst them elittist jerks guess who’ll have fun?
is like saying that is not Always the best to play in the major League to have fun, if you play football in a series (italy), you most likely end up not having fun for the pressure of performance and so on, ofc you’ll be kitten rich and with a lot of chicks running around your house..
but i didn’t see any naked chick runnin around them in la..;)

No, some ppl are more efficient (or are able to help a party more or are not yet good enough but are working towards being able to use a full zerker set) with a different stat set and maybe actually makes the party more effecient wearing their other stat gear. Or an obvious reason that you both seem to have missed completely… wait for it… waaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttt for IIIIIIIIIIIIIIT…………. MF armor. And yeah, I’ve read in forums of ppl doing this exact thing.

But this doesn’t exclude the fact that GW2’s emphasis is on VARIETY, which we keep seeing with all the different stats of armor they have and will probably continue to make. The latest being Sentinal stats that emphasize vitality over power.

maybe i expressed myself badly, i don’t want a number to pop-up at the end of dungeon/event saying : x dps, you overkill! quake stile.
if i did 100000000000damage total i want to know how many per second average, how many were influenced by that guardian 12 stack of might, how many damanges he avoided me.
or how many were from timewarp from that mesmer or how many from that ele’s auras..
you get it?
this is the only way to PROVE ppl dps is not the only thing to count and clearly show them that a dead dps does less dps than a tanky char.
only reason why it is not here and will never be, is because that would make cristal clear that the gam is not balanced at all and would require anet to actually work on fixes and not just plug a kork in the hole when they realize time warp can melt everything.
lol could even come out engis are woth something at the end right?

This is a bad idea. People would focus too much on DPS and ignore everything else.

“But the meter would show everything, not only DPS” – even assuming meters could display everything, that would be useless. Just as today people want only to see offensive stats and ignore defensive stats, people would ignore everything else and focus only on DPS. Someone showing that he healed a lot of team members but did little DPS would be kicked as quickly as someone today wearing Healing Power gear.

“But today people are already elitist with profession and stats!” – and that’s an issue ArenaNet should fix, not a problem to increase even more. The OP is also assuming that a DPS meter would make people ignore profession and gear, focusing instead on DPS; but I don’t believe in that. People will find a specific profession + armor + build combination that has higher DPS than everything else, and accept only that combination, nothing else. We would see even less diversity, not more. Even if ArenaNet were to nerf that specific combination, people would jump to the second highest DPS one, and so on; ArenaNet would never be able to reach a state of balance in which multiple professions with multiple stats and multiple builds have the exact same DPS.

what if these meters could tell you, even if aproximately, that that playr in your party provided a total DPS boost to you of x?
or that guardian blocked tha instasquish hit x time for y amount of damange?
or that thoughnes specced player dragged aggro on himself, instead of youfor z seconds?
or.. say any!
maybe then ppl will stop saying “woa just hitted for 30k 100blades! i’m king an you all sucks!”
Can’t say for sure but i guess 100b can be outdpsd too, but every time someone says that cannot demnstrate that, because we have no meters!!

about making it visible only to players, well could be a solution, but i really want to avoid the need to post tons of screens on extrnal website,for cof p1 speedruns, for the rest of stuff there is really no issue, and could help those teams who regularly plays together to improve, as well as “noobs” to learn game mechanics.

This game does not.
You keep saying that we already have this by parties asking to ping your armor. It’s not hard to create a look-a-like set that you wear while pinging said zerker gear that sits in your inventory collecting dust.

That’s a pretty funny thing to do. Why would you even join that group? Just to slow them down and think it’s cool to not be what they requested? To prove that you could fool them? Just curious.

By the by, they would more than likely notice that somebody in the group is not doing the normal damage output if you weren’t using zerker gear.

lol that would be lame lol, 1 gear set you actually use let’s say knight (arah? loooool) 1 cof set to ping anf “fool” ppl, and another arah set to transmute and finish this criminal mastermind plan?

1. GW2LFG is a pretty good sample. Don’t know what you mean by that. It’s practically the only way to get a dungeon group going for almost any dungeon if you aren’t in a Guild that is constantly doing them. Map chat blocks you from even trying to get a group together most of the time.
2. People who don’t run dungeons often are the ones requesting specific classes? Yeah, okay.

do you guys know that gw2lfg is not read only right?

guardian simply rocks imho and for the miserable dps they do, i like them specced into support/heal.

i’d really like to know if a Group of 2 zerk warrs 1 mesmr and 2 guard can do better than a if i removed a warr and used a necro for conditions, o well we’ll never know, since we have no dps meter..!!!
i mean is situational for cof p1 zerker warr +1 time warp puppet is king, because is so evident.
but for world bosses? Group events? other dungeons? imho there are situations where a staf ele can deal far more dps than a warr, but we’ll never know this way

Indeed, I’ve also managed to explicitly prove you wrong by observing a Fractals request for a Guard (heal).

Even then though, it just goes to prove that people who run dungeons can quite often be horrible examples of humanity, with lots saying “no noobs plz”.
Do you realise how hopeless a requirement that is?
What anonymous player on the internet is actually going to say “Man, I better not join those guys, I’m SUCH a noob!”?

Oh, and finally, PvE does not necessarily mean dungeons. A lot of people seem to think it does, but those people are wrong. Dungeons are a subset of PvE, one that you can very happily ignore with no detriment to your enjoyment of the game. And in the vast, VAST majority of PvE, zerkers really aren’t required. In fact, in world meta events, particularly those in Cursed Shore, they’re a liability.

yeah, well said, why in the world would you ever want to run dungeon with thos guys anyway?
i bought a full cof zerker set for my warr just to try zerker runs, and i find myself not doing it often since most of those “only zerker no noobs” party ends up disbanded b4 slavedriver.
i mean i do some daily zerker run, for the cash ofc, but i have more fun with other classes..

yeas i saw lot of vids on youtube of zerk paties clearing arah like a charm, but those are pros, 99% of the ppl out there can convince themself as much as they want that dps is the only important meter but they’ll just rethink themself the first time cof closes down and they have to fight champion effigi outside with only two other random players around..;)
Just fyi i run warr as main, zerker for cof speed runs mixed for normal runs, and knight for “very hard or new content”.
i also use ele with zerker gear nd a ond thief.

ofc dps is the only thing that mater, as long as you are a pro unlimited skills, and a progression curve i had on warrior was from knight gear to ma mix of knight zerk, a set of meters(plural!!) would help me to see if i switch th ring instead of a pice of armor would i do best dps while stil not getting oneshotted?
will i do mre ps with 2x sigil of force or 1 force 1 acuracy?
and so on..

but lfg insta join tool is on the way most likely we’ll hot-join dungeons like in spvp, then what will be the exuses not to want meters in this game?

i’d like to see those kind of meter too, not only dps.
you guys are probably too scared about a kind of gear score to come back.
every time i see thee posts i wonderif we play the same game.
if you look at gw2lfg u find mostly lfm zerk warr gear check or kick stuff cause you never moved from cof p1 page.
even there try to write “lfm any class welcome”, u’ll fill in seconds.
The reason gw2lfg cof page is full o zerker stuff is becauseof the dungon first, and because if someone rightfully wish to play that way, why shouldn’t he be allowed to do so?
Or whyshould i be forced to bring with me a player that doesn’t meet my standards, is no secret that going zerker with melee classes i harder, and works if u dps down quick, a non dps team member can lead to longer kill time and more possibilities for ppl to die.
A dps meter wiould llow other classes to demonstrate their value, specially in other less akitten dungeons.
a dps meter would teach ppl that an ele can do more dps than a warr somtimes and also better surviveability accasionally.
guys too often isee posts talking about dungons that at the end are actually talking about cof p1, or better: cof p1 the fastest possible or worst: my profession/build cannot do that, but i want anyway soi try to join a party even if i don’t meet reqirements at other expenses.
what about achivement points then? clearly exposed as soon as u join a party? even if is true that they doesn’t rapresent skills they definetly do rapresent exerience and time spent on the game, specially since they removed infinite achivments.
thes stuff doesn’t promote ellitism, they promote association of like-minded ppl, casual with asuals, elitists with elitists.
nothing wrong with that, better be kicked at beginning for not meeting req, than in middle-run because you clearly lied on your stats.
is even better not to Group with “only zerker Group” at all if you are not so!

as for cookie cutter builds, is already too hard for a beginner to find out what bild aim for, do you really want hem to try and fail? there is no problem wih so called bilds to exist, you can Always run around with your own experimental build, join a casual party and have fun.
and if you say that game would be too easy is not build’s fault, that’s where balance come across..
if you still don’t want cookie cutter build coz would be too easy,well you can Always try to solo lupi naked for challenge lol.

Robert i i can, i agree that probably the time and resources were limited, for the istance and for crab toss in particular..
and i can’t blame you for that, why in the world would you put more than that in temporary release?
I know you cannot, but you have to agree with me that the issue is is not the small team, not the player base having too high expectations, but probably mmm.. time limited content?
Well it has pros and cons though, as i was sad to see sab or mf go away i won’t miss cab toss from achivements.
Again, this is not a complaining on the istance, i still haven’t played it, i surely will, and i won’miss telling my grats to you if i apriciate.

hello comunity,
as state in title we wanna make a p4 group in an hour or so.
up to now is just me and my gf so we have 3 slots free.

a little intro:
We are a couple of Italian folks an we’ve been playing since october, we play IRL side by side, so we can coordinate quite a bit.

About me:
i actually have 3 lvl80 chars:
-1 warrior with a 50/50 mix of knight and zerk gears, since i use this as main char i8 don’t really feel like full zerk is the way..
-1 thief with full zerk, full exotic gear.
-1 ele with zerk gear and a still work in progress build, mainly i use staf to put up regen and combo fields.

About my gf:
actually has 3 lvl80 chars:
-1guardian, with ah build and knight gears
-1 warr with knight gears, still good dps tho
-1 ranger with condition build

i’m writing this just to let you guys know what we can run, and what char we can switch in case of need.

i guess tha an ideal composition would be 1 mesmer and a couple of warriors, 1 of them preferably in zerk gears and build to sustain dps with simin..
btw we’re not the kind of players telling you how to play, we’re open to any class joining as lon g as you are experianced with it.

we don’t do absolutely any gear check since i gues nobody is gonna jump into a 3hours+ path without them and beacuse we hate those kind of stuff.

We never did this path, even if we did all the others, this is last one standing b4 dungeon master title, and even if we really apriciate veterans of this path joining, ofc, we put as a only requirement the willing to coordinate.
Thnis doesn’t mean i am entitled to the group coordination, i never did the path so imho leadership is going to the player who knows the most of the path.

Please, if you don’t even know why i’m posting here and not on lfg thing, if you don’t know why this path requires so much coordination, then probably this is not for you.
also if you have some unmissable date in 2hours then again is not for u..
this path is unlikely to take less than 4 hours, so be prepared.

i’ll give mi 2 cents on jumping difficulty, is true that nowhere as far as i recall you need dodgeflip jumps, but this doesn’t mean that it Leaves more room if you do mistakes.

try dodgeflipping in that secret room, and the first two jumps will be the problem then;)

p.s.
i’m not even sure that dodgefilp actually results in a longer jump but this Always worked for me, and i think i red it in some devs post, but don’t expect proof on this.

i’m no pro gamer so i know what you mean, but cm’on i my gf finished p2 and 3 you can definetly do it.
snd lupicus is simply bull***, don’t get scared is only big and if you have an average group you want fail, try to avid zerker warriors;)
and agreed, arah should stay this way, a full set of arah (1300 tokens?) is far more legendary then legendaries in my eyes!!
you know, a monky farming earth elemental in orr for 1000000 years at some point will have found 100 lodestones and 1000g for his legendary, someday, the same monky can farm arah for the same time frame and never get a token.
so yeah i vote for ara set to become the true legendary!

i have bolth zerker warr and thief, my gf has ah knioght guardian and a warr.
op said: i’m a casual gamer.
then don’t waste money on berserker, specially on warrior, yu’ll always hear of ppl who did fotm 80 solo with a naked warrior. i did it and regret it.
i suppose we aree talking of a gs warrior, you’ll do 3 time at least more dps than a knight guardian, even in a very defensive setup.
i personally use 20 0 30 10 10 and 50/50 zerker/knight armor, zerker weap and 50/50 zerker/knight tinkrets, and hb hits for 14k in cof with all the buffs, this is tested in any dungeon path except arah p4 or high level fotm.
remember a ded zerker warrior do less dps than an alive bunker guardian!
this game isn’t for full-x steups is always the good alchemy that makes difference.
@haviz, dunno what is better for open world, they are both a pain, it takes double effort when you have to keep evading and cannot burst out your 1983098273k dps standing attack, oir when u get onshoted by risen in orr.
for dungeon imho bsk thief is easyer due to all those dodge, swiftnes on dogdge, regenerate endurance on dodge stuff.
but hell if you wanna farm you kitten out in cof zerker warr rules!!
no wanna say ppl lies on what they do, but is fashonablew nowdays to say “oh i’m so pro, i run zerker warior and i soloed lupicus”
surely someone did this, but more likely the one telling you these bullkitten is liyng!

hi,
i run a warrior, and a thief full gear and 80, but i’m leveling a ele and slowly all other professions.
the wole thread is based on why zerker warrior is better than everything else, o guardian.
on their own they are not, my gf has 80 guard and while almost god mode is too slow by himself dps-wise, and a zerker warrior is a slow bag of s*** on himself.
two guard and two warr will simply double the negative effect, but mixing them is good cause makes both buils viable at least so 1 single hit won’t one-shot the warrior and a guardian won’t take ages to finish.
so, yeah for cof p1 full zerker rules, but start getting out of cof ppl, we’ll see a revamp soon…..!
and you’ll realize that a non crappy-zerker warrior is even more usefull, axe/mace-warhorn tanky warrior is sweet for cof, or arah, or anything not so dam easy.
people wants gold? lol i guessed they wanted to play an entertaining game, not just a egendary grind to get not so legendary stuff..
said that yeah warr and guardian rocks, warrior in particualr for great group buff, surviveability, dps, thoughness, hp pool armor (yeah is may main and i say is op!).
but i found eles to be also usefull, and thief to extremly rocks in wvw and has thos stealthy things….
mesmer rocks too, a profession i don’t like in dungeon is the ranger, becuse usually they use it just cos “oh pet is cute!” and is probably the most buggy profession for that crappy pet messing around like a rag doll.
engi…. well if you chose it, well kitten happens, anet dosen’t love you and nerf you, so… lol
for necro i don’t really know if i find one i have no problem, but i expect him to stack tons of condition cause that is what they shine for.. you know also my warr can stack bleeding but really?

said so, what are we talking about? if i’m in apug and someone start kicking ppl cause they are not full zerkr heavy crap, i kick him first, if someone asks for gear check i kick him first, and always have my gf on my side supporting me lol so no way to those stupid elitist kids.

btw i see short time left for the 4warr 1 mesmer all-star, since as easy as it is, is hard to find ppl for cof p2, ac is not viable anymore that way, just corf p1 “revamp”(lol) and we’ll see a 10% of them will be still present..

for guardian, well 1 or two in agrup is till a must, but is well balanced, a full heavy party is unfair, but also a no heavy armor is.

i’m not a forum fan, and i did lupicus first time withoun knowing was so famus, to be so hard.
my first tought was:
wha5t a wonderfull boss fight!!
i’m no pro, i wasn’twith pro party, but wo managed to take him down in dunno, 15-20 min.
i recall p3 ie, the whole party was so scared about this lupicus, but was a breeze indeed!!
well ofc i may bea bit hard for gc thief, but cmon even if your main is that squishy, MOST of those who aproach arah exp will have some alts to try out.
if you are a gc warrior and complaining try to better understand that profession, angain i guess is viable with gc characters, but probably not the best way.
People get downed? what’s the problem? stop thinking only about your kittn dps and go res them!!!
omething ppl still have to understand is that ressinng downed/dead is the first step to success.
and if lupicus is hard what about the wraitlord in p3? or the kitten apha in coe?
lupicus got 3 mechanics to avoid:
don let him hit grubs
dodge out of aoe/res ppl who didn’t manage/dps
when starts life drain i you squishy just kite him if you bit ore tanky go melee
if downed w8 someone to ress you
i really don’t see the point of all the complains, in arah even the first trash can be harder than lupicus.
ofcurse this is monly my opinion and i don’t wnat anyway to say i’m a pro or what, i got wiped several times in arah but never and i mean never by lupicus!!!!
or we need a safe spot also here?

but imho after the 3 torches change this dungeon is very enjoyable.
with the right party ofc!!
thief is always nice to have here, specially for the bomb part, but also for the flame legion waves.
this imho the hardest part of the dungeon, without a good party you gonna get wiped a lot and eventually fail.
We failed a lot, like 3-4 times and the bat is that the waves take long to do from scratch, but when you pass the 3rd wave is almost done, if i recall well 3rd is hardest.
ele and thief with bow can do diffeence here, keep spamming aoe around while kiting, till few enemies left then focus and kil before respawn of next wave.
worst thing is if you cannot manage to clean the area b4 next wave spawn.
once you did this is too sraight forward lol.
bomb part hard? that’s a joke lol almost any profession can get swiftness somehow and if you really cannot, just manage to get one from your team!
when you get to other side just manage not to get wiped by turrets, may be tricky for glass cannons tho.
fo the rest of the dungon i don’t really see any problem!! final boss may be anoying, i admit, but, well, only bcause the only thing you have to do it time “v” or double tap.
but c’m on what else is this game about if not dodge?

imean, 5 torches were kitten hard, really “pro” oriented, and even for extremely coordinated team was a lucky shot to get throug, waves is still really a hard fight, maybe too much but i did anjoy immensely when we did it, rest may be anoying but only beacuse lacks interesting mechanics..

if i could i’d bet we’ll see a “revamp” of cof soon, so be ready guys, we can make ourself an idea with ac.. and if they do the smae good job, well BRAVO!!!

guys imho this dungeon is now awsome,
is simply not enaymore a farmfest!!
i dikd it with my main warrior, with a good team and was still farmable, did it wih lvl80 thief (gc) and was still enjoyable, did it with low level alts and was a bit of a pain..
only problem with this update is that cut of all new player from getting into groups to do this.
probably if experinced players were more likely to accept non 80 ppl now we’ll see more “lf1m full zrkr uber warr, no noobs!!” kittens.
Myself i’m always likely to accept new players in dungeons, but beforte i look at their achivement points.. l35 with 2000 points? sure why not.. lvl32 with 400 points? well are ypou sure about that? you eventually like pain? cause this player is definetly someone that appened around here and said oh what’s that shiny porta? let’s try!!
i know that because i tried myself to get in solo at level 15, “lvl 35? 5 playuers needed? nah i’m good enough!” end, ofc i got owned by the first spike trap!!!

this is not viable anymore by ppl leveling first char, that’s not law, we managed, also to clear with 4 good players (two warr, 1 guard, 1 ele, and a poar mesmer) but was hard!

main problem then is that now low level will get more stuff like l2p befor noob!! stuff and that’s not good, even an experinced player leveling alts will get to the same point and thats baaaad..
but the dungeon himself really roocks!! gj anet!

after having some fun with my main warrior decided to roll a thief, because i felt like warrior was too slow..
now i got it to lvl80 and started getting full exotic gear and so on.
and here comes the pain, i would like to experiment a bit, but is getting a bit too expensive since thios is not my main, and i plan doing a char for every profession,
so if an experienced thief could give some hints i’d rather appreciate!!

So, what shall i use this little guy for?
mostly dungeons, i like exploring all the dungeons, also farm them but i prefere to do different ones sometimes!
actually i’m runnin after the dungeon master title, but just for fun! and after that i will jump into fractals, to see what it’s look like..

also wanna do pretty much everything, open world, jp and even wvw maybe, but i guess i’d use the warrior for that.

i did this build myself, watched tons of videos understood very little, and did my own way, which is most likely wrong in some points.
Up to lvl80 i used a condition build but what i didn’t like was the low direct damange, so while worked for exo gear i moved to berserker mostly replacing the couple of carion i had.

well my actual impression is that the more i move to DD the more i get squishier, not only for lower survival stat but also for the gameplay required, i found indeed death blossom an awsome mix of evasion and CD, a skill you won’t use wit bsk gears.

what i like of this build is that even if mixing cd and dd i have to leave out some surviveablity, i still have mobility & cd while doing a decent dd.

I use D/D because thief is simply made for that, is imho like the gs for the warrior.
most often i use shortbow as second weapon because i like the ability to hit multiple foes with 1 skill, because of the two aoe, and the good amounf of condition you can put on mob groups, the cripple+evade and the shadowstep-on-demand!
on some single target or bosses i switch to p/p and spam unload, but that’s the gameplay style that drove me away a bit from warrior so i keep this at minimum (you can still see the two rare i use for that).
I love to have swiftness, calltops an might on evade (don’t really see might doing difference), getting boons for not getting hit, and I can dodge most of attacks with dead blossom so the point is to get hit less often, even if I don’t know the animations at perfection..
Now question is:
Do you guys think I can improve something?
Did I do something really dumb?
You think a hybrid dd cd build is viable? Will it be less efficient than her “extreme” counterparts?

is even useless to decide if should be pvp pve or istanced, it should be everywhere.
target character—> rightclick—> duel—>party-like request—> if accepted name become red and fight!
this should be viable i cityes, open world, hearth of the mist, lol i’d say wvw too!
lorewise is feasible since how can we think that in cityes full of armed heroes not even a single pub fight happens?
not even a norn getting drunk and laying a hand that cute mesmer + and starting a pub mayhem?
can you imagine lionguard trying top stop that?
beeing serious idon’t think that duels inside cityes would disturb that much since you can already cast spels there!

ok, since i’ve been hitting hard on anet with previous posts, i have to say that yesterday night all problem with loot seemd to be gone.
i played a couple of dungeon (cof) and a fractal lvl2, for the monthly achivement.
i tried farming only once an immediatly got bored so i’m nota farmer.
well yesterday i’ve been playing whith my gf n my side and from that fractals we both hada whole lot of cores cupple of lodestones cupple of yellowz.
well it should really be always like that!!
Now if you notice that i’ve hit lvl80 just around the infamous patch so before i never had an idea of end gam loot before and sine then i never even seen a lodestone till i started to think they are a kind of kimera, and i had TWO in one day, my gf the same,
two ldestones multiple cores an mor yellow than in a week (3!!!!)
now following the normal tshooting procedure,what changed in last two days? i’m not sure but i gues i noticed my client downloading something.. don’t you?
well what i percived was a loot rate just a bit under expectations, but please, we don’t seek perfection if it stays so gratz to anet u finally got it!

but i gues this might be a potential economic terrorism act and for the sake of eveyone else wealth i deserve to be crucified in LA grand plaza for not destroying myself this obviously enormous loot!!

i agree with you, mostly iplay with my gf and a friend, i’m lvl4 too so just ad me friend!
btw i solved this month achivement just by oing any lvl 1-4 i can find, first to get to know the various dungeons, second cause i really care only about the achivent till this patch comes out and i’ll be able to do any 1-10- first then 10-15 or 15-20 without limitations from 1 party members.
imho the patch will solve if they implement as they said.
hope for better system also for other dungeon specially for less fashon ones!

Guys this is endless and most don’t get the point. legendaryis not mandatory. nobody is gonna tell you that you suck cause you don’t have one.
nobody is gonna tell you that you cannot do x coause you dont have a legendary.

In a THAT big game you can do preety much everything, because the ultimate aim of an mmo is to simultae real life, not in a photographic way, but thats it.
the ultimate aim of a company doing an mmo is to catch all the pool of players even, especially, those who never played an mmo.

you think that beginner player can stand 1000h of grind? ofcourse not.
So as they promised everyone is doing everything, ther is no such gear score or a real vertical grind. so they didn’t lie.

But they don’t want only newcomer’s money, they allso want to attract the elite hc gamer.
and if you say nobody likes grinding, then ask to all those milions of d3 folks!!

the same for ascended:
are they hard to get? yes
are they madatory to have fun? no
are they designed to casual players, ex hc gamers with life work kids an 3 ex-wife?no!!no! and again no!!

those are for the 13 years old kids, whith nothing more to do in their lifes, and kindly accept to spend countess hour in the grindfest!
Or for those who are trade skilled, probably even for those who have no rush.
wake up people the rush for first legendary has already winners and loosers!!

you say people are buying mats from the TP by flipping or whatsoever? and why you complain about that? ever tried playing TP? if it fells beter we can say that gw2 as a pve components, a spvp, a world pvp and a kittien “marketshark” one!
Fipping is not hacking your account and stealing your stuff, is not an exploit and is not effortless unles you are a pro broker and still have a lot of time for that.

then you say people is buying that with 2k$ of gems? you know what? i really hope so!!!! let the RL rich people feed Anet so, hopefully, they wont need to take money from us..( i admit this is unlikely, they’ll take their 2k$ AND your single dollar if they can but… who cares actually??).

If you put some badges in the start page, which are world completion, orders initiation and, and one is a kitten legendary then every sigle folks in the game, from day one think he will have one cause is the real endgame, it must be if is shown that way right?
and thats quite intentional imho since for them is no cost someone gtting a legendary but some cpu cycles for the particles effects, but a extremely good resource sink when people, as first step buy that blodstone shard for 200sp or any otherwise useless legendary mat. and trust me there are countless.

before you start insulting me:
-i don’t have a legendary nor a precursor, althoug with no rush i’ll definetly have one. i hope with no grind at all but wvw and dungeon which is no grind for me.
-i don’t play TP, i tried but is hard, and since is hard is really intriquing me!
-i’m probably too stupid for exploiting, on average i get to know one a month after it’s been patched lol!!!

is like real life if you can’t effort a mercedes, have good journey with your daewoo, have fun while travelling, try to save and optimize which can be fun.
on difference:
while in your life to get money you have to work and mostly not have fun or just a little, here you can have fun while gettin a little money.

hi all,
preety much my first OP so be kind!!
been playing gw2 for 500h on differnt characters, mostly a warrior.
Now, my girlfriend decided to get a copy herself…
ok let’s explain that she has never played an MMO, never even a videogame afaik!

When was time to choe profession with some regrets in mid for warrior (bit too simple) i said to go for guardian since s supposed to be not-so-squishy.

Surprisingly she is cap 80 in 104h of gameplay (but don’t tell her i helped somehow!!), now i just toke her out for shopping, and we bought a nice leve 80 berserker’s rare set, bsk greatsword and bsk scepter and torch.

From now on we’l be playingmostly PVE in orr-frostgorge and i’d like to get her into dungeons and fractals..

what i’m looking for is a good build for both pve and dungeons.

point is:
-she is not hardcore player so she’ll never have $$ for 5 different exo sets, so i’ll have to pay in that case!!
- is ok to switch weapons like scepter with mace or staff but gs is mandatory for her!

After the trait build, allso what is the exo armor/rune thinkret you would spend 30g for your gf for pve/dungeon??
up to now with berserker gear she had no problem in pve up to lvl75, but i’m afraid that she is too squishy for orr, and not effective in dungeon.

P.S.
i never played guardian on my own so don call me heretic for possible bad advices!!

since they didn’t answer in month from OP i’m starting to think that they don’t want to.
Is too easy to ask us numbers while you never give us a single one.
Our job is to play and if we fell kind we can give a feedback.
It seems that someone there loves mistic forge rng put here x data so we’ll work it out and you have a 1/xtrilion chance to get back a answer.
As a valuable data i can say that loot drop rate for me is like your official answer drop rate. inexistent.
IMHO in a game of this kind drops are needed for a player to progress eficently through the storyline and on this i’ll tell you a story:
My gf recently lost her job, so since she has nothing to do all day, she bought a copy of gw2.
First: she has NEVER been playng videogame, definetly not an mmo.
Before even starting i gived her 4g because i knew that to get a smooth progression she whould have needed a bit more than simple drops.
i followed her very closely douring the process, and even with my help and a some gear from tp she was always completing maps under her level therefore getting almost useless rewards.
at level 70 she lost most of the money i gave her with 3 rare drops in 85 hour of gamplay never farming but playing to complete maps (she’s very categoric on that lol)

Said that you cannot even immagine the uge number of “bad words” i’ve heard coming out from a very polite girl’s mouth..

And her gaming backgrund is the most candid, less influenced, not whiners. she’s not a blizzard’s secret agent afaik.. no aims to get rich overnight no aims for 1st day legendary no aims to get OP and surround the world in flames.

Simply get around, finish maps of actual level but mostly 10 level under, and she would never be able to do that whithout a big lvl80 charr as bodyguard. and don’t forget that shine in the eyes all of us have when you find a yellow shinies, even if thinkig about it may be useless for our actual char!! (felling a bit skirrt!!).

This overwhelm any scientific method of investigation we are supposed to follow while PLAYING a GAME. My gf expirence says drops are not enough to actually enjoy the game full stop.

As for me i noticed that i get quite often a rare drop as soon as i get into a map then nothing for 1 hour then simply casual. i never farm i just roam and kill what comes to me if i like to. no special mf gear just what i was able to craft casually.

ONLY 1 exotc drop in 500h of gameplay and where? from the odd tixx chest? you joking (level 78 bersk amulet)?? even if they were 10 times more wasn’t enough!
The point that comes out from this thread is that you don’t have to fine-tune drop rate from 0,01 to 0,02.. simply add a x10 multiplier!!

Right now you’re gonna lose even some of the “nerd” component of customers, do you really think to catch from the pool of people who never played videogames?
which since you are not good a proportions i’ll tell you is the 99% of world population.

said that make a check on your worst copetitors forums, learn from others mistakes in order to improve yourself without even making the mistake!!
stop sending out one special event/map/dungeon every day and tune what you have, GET SOCIAL!!! Ths game has the possibility to become a real mass product but know what? itmust be mass-friedly!!
never nerf dungeons or pvp or wvw that content is for """"pro"""" players who wants it to be hard!
but drops are what make us act like skirrts!

hello people,
what i find most disapointing of actul situeation is how hard is finding a group to try dungeons.
i see people looking for groups for lvl20 and i still wasn’t able to do lvl1.
did only 2 try, the first was with bad group so people left mid game, second dc at 3rd fractal.
As a casual player i’d love to see in place a system to assist players finding a group, like allready done for spvp.
you go there to the “dungeon browser” create an istance with 5 slot, one for you and 4 free.
You may even add chace to set profession for each slot or leave it open to all profession.
allso hot join feature would be awsome, if a slot in a midgame group get fre due to dc or a crash a player can hot-join the instance.

i’m very disapointed,
bt not with anet, with a lot of players!
i’m one of those who agrees with the changes planed for the patch, i never writed on the forum, i prefere to play instead.
lately i found myself bored with this sistem, you never feel powerfull and brings to 0 the taste of a new drop!
i don’t see the point of people scratching skin away from their head for such a small change, when it is not in place yet!
what if they can be obtained with karma? and what if they drops like rain in november?
what if and otherwise is lie y?
i don’t really want gw2 to be like diablo3, but on that anet seem to listen our complains!
I seems that everybody was so blind that nobody seen the part of article saying “better ways to find legendary precursors”.
the problem is that the whole thread is dominated by supermegaultra hard core gamers wvw oriented, casual gamers like me have no time to write bullkitten but we are te biggest slice of the cake.
pvp is allready leveled, and as an e-sports work well like stone-paper-scissor game, can’t allways win with everybody!
casual gamer like me, didn’t spend 250€ on gems, or 9000hours of grinding for exotic.
i have a full exotic set and, know what, i just used TP!
no exploits, no cheats!
wht is ridiculus is the drop rate of legend precursors, the drop rate of lodestones and ectos, the mistic forge system for getting precursors.
Is allso significant that nobody is doing certain dungeons, because not worth of it.
what anet can improve IMHO is the way you get in dungeons, it should be like pvp browser!
also an official space for guilds would be great.
btw i’m looking for a big good friendly pvx guild, but it must seem like a comunity not a military organization oriented to steal you a gold per week!
I never played wow, lol, msk, her,dod, aopi or what else, i like the game as it is and any improvement cannot get a so enormus game to be a sh++!
