There is news? I always check the guild wars 2 website and the announcement forum. As far as I was aware, the last thing to happen was Mac client.
I started out as a Necromancer and really quickly started to love Engineer more. Then, as I got higher in level, I started disliking Engineer because of the kits. I just didn’t like the way kits worked, so I went back to Necromancer.
I have the opposite problem. I love too many professions, and I can’t choose a main.
Pretty sure Quickness affects finishing moves, so it would make sense that it’s treated like a channeled ability.
I haven’t used Epidemic too extensively, but it looks like fun. I wonder, however, if it’s limited by the 5 target max AoE thing or not. I used it on target dummies in the mists and it seemed like it was hitting more, but that might have just been the flurry of numbers I saw and my inability to count.
He probably set his return point with shadow step before engaging. That’s what I do.
MMO players congregating in the most centralized city in the game? Say it isn’t so!
Remember Darnassus and whatever the Blood Elf capital were? This isn’t going to change, no matter how beautiful the city is. I love the Grove, but there’s a reason it’s empty – and there’s nothing that can be done to fill the city permanently.
Eve Online removes money acquired illegally, but doesn’t ban players for buying. Often, though, the money they bought with cash is already spent and they end up with a negative wallet, which effectively disables that character (can’t buy or sell anything).
The level 5 Tailor crafted light armor has really nice looking cloth pants on humans.
I’m playing with a condition spec in sPvP but my first few attempts weren’t overly successful. My necro is only level 11 and the highest level I’ve had a necromancer is 27, so I don’t have a lot of experience in the leveling phase. Not only that, but leveling has been entirely as minion spec, so I know little about condition.
I’m using a Sceptre/Focus and a Staff. I have blood is power, epidemic, and corrupt boon in my utility slots. I start by using blood is power, spinal shivers, and whichever other abilities apply conditions. I think I also tried starting with sceptre’s 2 for the vulnerability.
Assuming that there is a decent collection of folks on a control point that epidemic would be worth using, what order would you throw skills, and at which point would you use epidemic? The fastpaced nature of sPvP has me thinking the best choice would simply be to get three sceptre attacks out for the 7 or 8 stacks of bleed, maybe blood is power, and then cast epidemic before they spread out too much.
Thoughts?
I love the zooming in, it makes the downed state much more exciting and dangerous.
The idea that everyone is allied and no grouping is necessary is not so much innovation as a step closer to perfection within an MMO. By effectively making everyone at an event one group ( via boons and heals affecting nearby allies, grouped or not), they’ve eliminated the problem of anti social players refusing to group. This was bad in rift, for example, when you had hi levels tagging all the mobs and refusing to join the main group.
When did I say anything about the people complaining? All I did was expressed how much I enjoy the profession.
No character above level 8.
61 hours played.
… Because I enjoyed it so much I wanted to level again.
Seriously.
My first necro was a Charr, and I loved it, except I thought maybe I wanted a Charr engineer, but I didn’t want two charrs. So I made the decision to nuke him and remake him human, and so far I’m loving the comedic touch human males offer necromancer.
Love live necromancer!
Thanks, I didn’t even know you could do that
I saw a blue icon beside someone’s name. They were naked, in case that matters. It looked like a head and a magnifying glass, I think,
There’s also that famous school of thought to consider: If you have to ask, it’s probably not allowed.
Is that why my Sylvari was naked except for her leaves after coming out of the newbie zone? The guy next to me was naked too.
And if by “using” you mean gaining some unfavorable advantage via the exploitation of said bug, then yes, it’s bannable. Just because it’s well known doesn’t mean the definition of exploit changes.
It seems that if you post a thread with any question marks, moderators are moving it to Players helping Players in what appears to be an attempt to keep General discussion full of complaints about the game. But whatever, this thread isn’t about how silly that is, this thread is about the fact that once they move your thread, it’s effectively gone. Here is the private message I received five times from “Forum Moderator” (they’re all exactly the same).
A moderator moved a message you posted to the forum ‘Players Helping Players’ with the reason:
moving to players helping players
Follow the new thread here.
So this is fine, except the link at the bottom is to the players helping players forum, not the thread they moved. If you’re going to move my thread fine, but can you please give me the correct link to it?
Assuming this is a “bug” with the copy and paste message we’re getting.
Edit: I just found the post my most recent message came from, and it wasn’t even my thread – it was a thread I posted a reply to. Even more unlikely that I’m going to find it when it’s not even my thread.
If you want to create a guild, you should create it now even if you won’t recruit until you’re 80. The influence you get just from leveling is nice. You get 10 influence each day for each character you log in with ( up to 50 a day from just you). You also get influence for PvP and events while leveling.
You’ll hit 80 with a few minor upgrades already done.
I’ve been playing for two weeks and I already knew, by when the dailies reset, that the monthly would reset at 5pm yesterday.
I guess I’m a genius.
I ended up going with a Charr male. The female’s animations didn’t sit for me, but I ended up creating a sylvari, human male, and charr male and getting them all to level 3 (so I could see shield toss) and the Charr wasn’t bad. He throws and shoots in a very similar way to female Charrs, but it seemed more fluid and less clunky.
I’d love to make an Asura something, but I just can’t get over the size. I’ve been bouncing around an Elementalist to make as a crafting alt and for the monthly achievement, so maybe that could be my Asura.
Ugh, I trashed it. That sucks
Well, thanks for the info. That’s good to know.
“Rabbit” space “Chest”
Rabkittenest
as in, the chest you get from ranking up at the rabbit rank of sPvP
The other day I got a Pistol and a Shield from my rank 5 rabkittenest. Cool, I thought, my Engineer could really use those. Well, bound to character.. that’s too bad. But that’s not what the thread is about.
Let’s say i opened the chest on my Engineer and got these brand new pistol and shield. Aren’t all the PvP items statless? What’s the point of getting new items if I can just go to the store and buy a PvP Pistol and PvP Shield for free?
I know there’s more to it here.. but I don’t understand.
Edit: Heh, singular rabbit plus the word chest, even with a space in between, is caught by the profanity filter.
I’m in the process of rerolling all of my characters to choose races I like for them all. My Engineer started as a human female, then went to Charr female, but I’m not digging the Charr female animation (specifically, the weird way she throws her shield and fires the pistol).
Anyone play an Engineer whose animations really stand out as awesome? Cool looking armor is a bonus, but only if I can bear the animations. Right now I’m looking at human male as my next choice. I like how Asura run, jump, and dodge, but I don’t know if their small size would make me happy when I start to look cooler and cooler, but can’t notice it.
Can you chat with the people on the other server on guildchat? If not, what are you getting by being a member of that guild that you wouldn’t find with a guild based on your own server?
EverQuest canceled their player Guide service due to the fact that it was a colossal failure. I was a part of the guide program as well and remember it being a horrible mess of players who felt that their magical GM powers made them more important than anyone else. It was awful.
Considering the fact that few, if any, games have offered such a system since EverQuest, it’s unlikely that you’ll ever see it come back.
My server (Jade Quarry) has a queue of about 5-10 minutes for Eternal Battlegrounds.
You and your friends have a choice to make. You can refuse to leave, alongside everyone else on your server kittenfuses to leave, or you can all transfer for free to a less populated servers where you probably get in right away.
I fail to see how this is ArenaNet’s fault. They already did something: free server transfers. No other major MMO has offered free server transfers so early on in the game. In every other game people would complain about overpopulated servers, queue times, or dead servers. GW2 is the first game that actually addressed those problems in the first month, and sure enough, someone complains anyway.
While you’re helping your guildmates in a low level zone, you’re still getting loot for your level. You could be selling that loot to earn the money back, or do what a previous poster said and use Lion’s Arch to teleport for free and then walk for a few minutes.
A month into the game and you’re seeing the newbie zones less populated? Maybe because the majority of people have leveled out of the newbie zones. Newbie zones are jam packed for the first week, and it slowly tapers off from there.
Human zone is still significantly more populated than other races. My three characters are Charr, and I just remade two of them yesterday and today. I haven’t had any problems finding people to do the events with. It’s not the same as the Charr I rolled two weeks ago, when the newbies were still pouring in. There were 40 people trying to kill the five tar elementals that spawn every 3 minutes. It was insane.
But because I’m capable of logical thought, it makes perfect sense to see fewer people in the newbie zone, since there are fewer new characters being created. Go log into WoW a week before an expansion comes out and count the number of players in newbie zones. You’ll find it’s extremely low; does that mean the server is dead?
Most MMOs these days have a permadeath community who plays by unofficial permadeath rules. With how easy it is to get resurrected in this game I’m not sure how hard it would be, but that’s always an option.
I guess I should have avoided using a question mark.
I’ve had a few threads moved to the players helping players forum and that private message has always meant the thread is effectively dead. I tried posting a thread there once and it had 50 views and zero replies.
Do we really need that thread? Surely asking legitimate questions and having discussions about the questions after is better than all the botting and I quit threads.
I want to make a warrior for random smashy feelings. I already have a Charr Necromancer (male) and a human Engineer (female). Which race and sex do you think looks the best in heavy armor?
I’m hoping to avoid doubling up on race. I have tried to like Norn but their story makes me angry (I hate alcohol). Asura seems to small and hard to look “cool”, and Sylvari are weird, which could be cool, or could be uncool.. So, those of you who use heavy armor, who looks the coolest? (Race and Gender)
Six months from now you’ll be complaining about how some kid fresh out of school “stole” your job and your bosses were out to get you.
Don’t play games at work, it’s never worth it.
You posted this exact thread, though with more specific details, two weeks ago. Why are you reposting?
If you really don’t enjoy necromancer, just stop playing it (which you claimed to do later in that thread).
We have all encountered these people in our groups. They call you bad, or noob, because you haven’t mastered the content the first time you’re in a dungeon. They are never civil, and judging by the op using words like terrible to describe players, and the fact that he threatens to do the same to other people if this isn’t fixed, shows exactly what type of player this is, and how he cannot be trusted to give an unbiased account of what really happened.
Stories like this are rarely completely true. By “called out”, he probably means said “you kitten kitten kitten kitten kitten don’t kitten kitten kitten mother kitten kitten kitten” and then went AFK.
maybe not that extreme, but if you’re only going to tell half of the story, we get to make up the other half.
You want sympathy? Show us chat logs.
If you think this is bad, you obviously didn’t play Final Fantasy XI. At level 3 you fight crabs. Level 11 is crabs, and you keep fighting crabs until 15. Then at 20 you’re back to crabs again.
This continues for seventy levels. They weren’t even reskinned.
I find there is more than enough variety for a new MMO. If you want to see something new, explore a bit and find zones with different terrain than your starting area. You’ll still see some familiar faces, but some new ones as well.
To add injury to insult, that game did have a wide assortment of cool and interesting mobs. But they were all too darned annoying, hard to get to, or too powerful to level off of. So you seldom got to fight them.
We didn’t level off of crabs/crawlers/flies because that’s all there was.. but because thats all that was feasible.
I ended up playing a Beastmaster for this reason. BSTs could get to those hard to reach places, and charm those powerful mobs and use them against others. It was insanely fun to fight things that other people only saw as they were running through on their way to the leveling zones.
Maybe I wasn’t very specific. I’m choosing turrets because they are fun as hell, and I’m just trying to find ways to make the turret/supply drop build as effective as possible. Thanks for the input, folks.
I’m building my engineer towards a full turret build, with the box drop elite skill. The traits I took on my PvP build, and am working towards on PvE build, are Firearms and the one that boosts Turrets, with as many turret traits as I can fit in, and traits to support Pistol/Shield as secondary.
It’s fun as hell, but I’m curious if anyone else plays like this and has success. I really like the style of pistol and shield, and the Captain America toss is just fun.
Is there a trait line besides Firearms that might help? I was thinking of choosing defensive traits to try and protect my turrets a bit more. I did see that in PvP they had a tendency to get killed quickly.
I can’t decide what I want to play. I have a level 26 Necromancer who I love, but then I thought I’d try an Engineer, and now I love my Engineer. I also tried a Guardian, and after having a very difficult time deciding on a race, I finally settled for a big and bulky Norn who looks like that space marine from SC2.
I also want to try an Elementalist, because although in the past I have hated elemental-style mages, it just looks too interesting. I’ve also played a little bit of Thief, though I can’t play melee in PvP and I wouldn’t want to play a Thief if I can’t PvP.
At this rate I’m never going to hit 80, augh.
Wake up at 3am, transfer, win.

If I want to increase the damage of my turrets, which stat can help with that?
I created a guild, it’s just my friend and me. Yesterday we got the 500 guild influence needed to buy an upgrade, but I can’t do it. The “add” button under all four of the upgrade types is greyed out.
When I click on edit permissions, the only permission leader has is edit ranks, and every other permission is greyed out, including build upgrades.
How can I fix this? I’m the leader, the only other guy in the guild is a member.
My guild just got 500 influence and I want to upgrade Politics to level 1. Why are the buttons greyed out?
