When I beat it, I’ll know I earned it.
Thanks.
As someone who played games from Oceanic for years I quickly learned that companies are going to base events around USA or EU timing, and it’s going to require a pretty big sacrifice to make it.
The sooner you accept this, the sooner you can enjoy everything else about the the halloween content.
If you can’t be online Sunday at noon (or 8pm in Europe) then you can’t expect a company to cater to you like this. One time events are going to happen, and they chose (albeit a little late) the exact right time to do one.
While exploring Harathi Hinterlands I came upon a dolyak graveyard. There is a scripted event in which a dolyak dies, some people talk about it, and the spirit wanders off. I followed the spirit into a cave and killed some ghosts, then the spirit vanished and a Veteran popped out of the ground. I killed it and got green random dropped loot. There were some objects to interact with, most importantly a journal which told an interesting story.
Once I killed the veteran I could not find anything else. It felt like the mini event was over, but I didn’t understand the connection between the ghost and the dolyak spirit.
Did I miss something? I looked all through the cave and couldn’t find anything else. I checked all the items, looked for secret doors.. I was stumped.
what class are you?
Necromancer
If I want to finish the monthly I’m going to need another 55 kills in WvW, but they seem to come so rarely. How can I make sure I get more kills in WvW?
The Mists are decorated, including their own mystic forge.
I’m happy they didn’t spend resources on capital cities, and instead kept the action in one main city. Saves art resources and prevents people from being too spread out. Events in other games where they were in one specific place Always felt more awesome
Thanks for that. I’m not level 80. This would be something to build towards as I’m leveling.. Are candy corn and nougat centre the only halloween specific items in that list?
What items from the Halloween event do I need to craft The Crossing?
It seems to be 250 or 350 Candy Corn and 100 Nougats. Is the rest of it available all year?
I know Candy Corn is mined from nodes, but what other materials are there, and where are they found?
2.25MB/s
I’m not even going to log in, just downloading now so I can play later without waiting.
I’m going to go use all of my keys the moment my patch is finished downloading, but I’m not going to come back here and report my results because it feels like you’re trying to let another player risk not getting anything so you can find out without risk.
Personally I feel that apples are better than oranges.
Hamburgers are also better than hot dogs.
WvW and sPvP have the common fact that they are forms of PvP, but other than that they are different entities and there’s no need to compare them in terms of hich is “better.”
Why are you trying to balance an AoE weapon for 1v1?
Make your character on another server, and at 3am do your transfer. Welcome to JQ!
Staff 1 is fine. I use it all the time while AOEing a big group of NPCs I’ve coralled, and it works beautifully. Every fight I have max life force.
It’s funny you should say this, because I logged in from 8AM PST and played until 9AM PST in Ashford Fields and found there were a lot of people online and playing. I collected a few vistas with another guy who happened to be doing the same thing (fought through the cave trolls together), I stopped to do a few events with a handful of people at each, and completed two group events, all while getting 100% in the zone.
When you play a game populated primarily with Americans, in American off-peak hours, you’re going to find less people. If you play consistently in the mornings, maybe you should consider moving to the unofficial Oceanic server, where there would be people on at your time.
Level up by ONLY resurrecting NPCs who get killed by wolves.
Yeah I’m not a fan if this… sigh
The chest I receive, will they always remain in my bags even after the event or will they go away when the event is over? I won’t be buying keys so I’ll most likely sit on the chest till I happen to get a key.
Also if I do get a key 4 months later and open a chest will it still drop halloween items even though the event is over?
Make new characters and do the story missions up to level 10, which is when you get the first chest key I think.
Explore the starter areas, where you can rampage through the NPCs.
Explore cities.
This is how I’m farming keys. I’m not going to have 100 by any means, but I’ll have enough to hopefully get one Halloween skin. The rest of my time will be spent on the non-chest part of the event.
I’ve been exploring and doing story missions to try and stock up a handful of Black Lion Keys for the event, but I wonder if there is going to be a special Halloween Black Lion Key which will be the only way to get these Halloween items.
I haven’t seen anything about it, but I’d like to know before I spend my entire weekend exploring instead of leveling, only to find out I can’t get the Halloween skins.
There is a trait which makes Pistol 1 pierce. Pistol 1 already hits multiple targets with its explosion, so how exactly does the pierce help?
Does the bleed only apply to the target hit by the shot, or to all aoe targets? Does the pierce enable the bleed to hit multiple targets?
If the bleed applies to the aoe already, how does pierce help the shot?
I don’t know that I agree. You need more dexterity in your sword arm, and your shield arm is going to be in front of you most of the time, this suggests you need the protection alongside the shield, as tht side of your body is closer to your enemy
I forget the names, but there are three rune sets which have a 2-piece bonus of condition duration. For condition spec necromancers in sPvP, is it better to go with 3×2 rune sets to maximize condition duration, or go with a more specialized set and get straight condition damage?
If the better choice is 6-piece set, which one is the best choice?
Hi,
I think that boosts should be changed to not time down when you’re not in an area to utilize their function. For example, XP-related boosts should pause timers while in the Mists and sPvP zones, while Glory boosts should pause while outside of those same zones.
As they are now, I would never buy a boost because I have a 2-year old who randomly needs whatever small children need, and I might have to step away suddenly for 30 minutes. As it is now I have to log out if I want to step away, rather than a quick 5-minute AFK which would be so much more convenient. Boosts also make it less efficient to alt tab and check the Wiki, or work on a build between PvP matches. If I can’t earn the resource in the area I’m in, it shouldn’t tick down the boost.
Go into the Mists, to your PvP locker, and preview the Flame Legion Light armor on a Charr.
You’ll never play anything else again.
It’s pretty common, yes.
Here it might even be more common simply because anyone who bought the Game has lifetime access to the forums.
There’s no such thing as a general MMO community, because MMO isn’t a true genre by itself. If you’re going to boards like GameFAQs to ask about Guild Wars that’s why you think the gaming community doesn’t like the game. GameFAQs players hate everything.
The difference between raids and the activities in GW2 is that raids are not accessible to all because of the requirements to get into them (EQ requirements, number of players working together). Everything in GW2 is accessible solo (hidden puzzles, exploration) or in small groups (dungeons, tPvP). The 1% argument of raids doesn’t apply to this, because you CAN do it, you just don’t want to. Raids are something that people who WANTED to do maybe couldn’t due to time restraints or lack of guilds.
With Aion, NCSoft decided one day to ban all players who were not from the specified region of their servers. I was in China at the time, and I got banned from playing on North American servers, because there were local Chinese servers they wanted me to play on.
What I’m saying is make sure she can log into a US version of the game before you buy the game for her.
There’s a charr female at that iron legion water processing plant in diessa who talks about her (female) mate having been killed by flame legion. It was actually pretty depressing what she described. I hung around to defend the place a few times after that, feeling guilty that it always seems to be ignored.
I am sure that in this case, the word “mate” is used as in the meaning of “friend”.
That’s like saying the men seeking men ads in classifieds are for men who want golf partners.
I’ve never heard a Charr use the term mate as friend. Given their animalistic nature, it’s the perfect word to describe significant other.
How do you know Charr don’t look like that from the moment they hatch out of the egg?
Are you using a staff? I found I had a lot of issues when I was using a staff, and even ended up deleting my necro. After restarting, I chose daggers with staff as secondary and it’s way better.
Let me get this straight.
Necromancers suck because you can’t kill someone one on one in world vs world, which is defined IN ITS VERY NAME AS A GROUP ORIENTED GAME MODE?
It’s the only thing that prevents me from making an Asura Thief. I made one, dodged, and no fade like Humans/Sylvari. I haven’t checked the other races, but if they didn’t fade it would make sense to me because of their size. Size was the reason I did not make a charr or norn thief.
Elementalist and Engineer are both rather complex (though the complexity can increase or decrease with your build). Necromancer is fun, but plagued with bugs – though those are being fixed over time.
Human Females make good Engineers, I like their gun animations (except the rifle jump one, but that’s not good on any race). Humans also have really nice dodging animations for Thief (they fade out and back in).
Every game hurts the players while trying to hurt the bots. I remember years and years ago when WoW trial accounts could send mail, collect money, join groups, send tells, and use public channels. What trial accounts turned into was a watered down version of the game that could kill a few wolves and that was the end of it.
Warhammer Online, Rift, and nearly every big name MMO in between (including GW2) has had bots, and continue to have bots. They’re not going anywhere, no matter how many GMs you pay to wander around.
Bots are stealing accounts and buying with stolen credit cards. It’s far more effective to prevent them from using those methods. Players have a tendency to shirk their responsibility in this matter too. It’s not just about reporting bots, it’s also about not setting your password to “password” or “p4ssw0rd1”, but having a complex and impossible-to-guess password.
In fact, the GW2 staff here on the forums gave a few links and suggestions on how to create the ideal password. Some bots are playing on stolen accounts that players are trying to get back, and others are playing on stolen credit cards. You can’t just ban and forget, there is a lot in between, including not screwing over the players who were already stolen from.
I’m on Jade Quarry. I deleted my first post and am re-posting without other character names showing in the screenshot.
Character is named Sludge Stormseeker

I like that you’re using RNG because it’s what makes an MMO an MMO.
I did one of the centaur events in kessex hills where you have to defeat seven waves. I killed one wave solo and then moved on. Two minutes later I got s gold medal.
I feel bad for the guy who stood there for all seven waves fighting tooth and nail.
On a similar vein, I’ve seen people walk away from events after one or two minutes to “tag” the event, presumably for the daily achievement. I do this too, if I only have events left and I’m running out of time to complete. I feel like I shouldn’t be rewarded for killing two centaurs or flame legion and then walking away.
I may not have been perfectly clear before. The players helping players forum as an idea isn’t a bad one.
It’s the moderators moving threads that are in the correct sub forum into php which is filling it with a bunch of unorganized threads, effectively destroying the organized nature of the forums they’re trying to promote.
The example I gave was a thread I created yesterday which was a question about sPvP and specifically, if it was better to buy five copper chests at 200 glory each or one gold chest for 1000 glory. It was moved from the sPvP section where I posted it, to here. Why? The PvP forum is the best place for PvP questions, while how do I earn money, as a general question, is better suited for here (as noted by another poster).
I hope that makes my stance a bit clearer. I am not against players helping players, I am saying that moving all threads of an inquisitive nature here is not good.
When I come to the forums I check the News/Announcements, General, my chosen Profession(s), and maybe specialized forums like crafting or PvP if I have a specific thing to look up.
Moderators have been moving questions from all sub forums to this forum, not just those found in General. I posted a thread in the Structured PvP forum asking about copper vs gold PvP chests. Why would a thread as specific as that be moved out of the forum where I am most likely to get an answer, to a forum which is nothing but a hodgepodge of unorganized questions?
Needless to say, the thread got no replies after the move.
I never come to the Players helping Players forum because there is no organization whatsoever, it’s just a mess of whatever people have questions about. I believe this is the fault of the moderators, who are moving any thread with a question mark to these forums in an attempt to keep other forums clean. If someone asks a question about PvP in the General forum, why move it here? Why not move it to the PvP forum where it would be more likely to be read by people with the answers? If I ask about crafting in general, why am I redirected to Players helping Players instead of the crafting subforum, where, again, I’m more likely to actually get an answer?
This forum serves no purpose but as a dumping ground for threads unwanted in General. I don’t really want to post threads anymore because of how many get dumped here, when this is NOT the place to find answers.
If you think you were ignored by the server, maybe change servers. You won’t have the problem on another server.
Is it better to spend 200 glory on Copper chests five times or 1000 glory on a gold chest one time? Gold chest doesn’t seem to give 5x more armor pieces. What’s the advantage?
I was in a free tournament as a solo entry earlier and we lost our second match. Before anything happened I returned to the mists because I realized I’d made a glyph error when changing gear, and wanted to fix it before the next match. After the mists had loaded the tournament icon was gone.
Later, I got a third place chest. I checked the wiki and it says tournaments are single-elimination, so does that mean that the tournament was over for me anyway?
Or, by leaving manually did I take myself out of the tournament and screw over my team? If it’s this option then I’m really sorry team I was playing with, you guys were cool.
If you’re getting hit for 21k with Hundred Blades you’re doing it completely wrong.
The Warrior needs to stay still for the duration. He can’t use any other ability.
Equip a stun breaker, dodge out of range. You’ve taken one, maybe two hits if you have slower reactions. Nowhere near 21k.
The Thief on the other hand can move while pistol whipping, can cast them back to back, and it’s considerably harder to dodge the thief with his movement speed.
Even if your endurance is empty, once you break the stun there’s no excuse to get hit by more than half of hundred blades, which is still far less than 21k.
I run a similar build but I focus on toughness instead of power. I use a lot of bone minion sacrifices and flesh worm in certain situations, so I tend to get hit a lot more.
OP is refusing to grasp the purpose of these pieces.
You can only transmute armor of the same class (light to light, heavy to heavy); GW2 does not have a “costume” like Rift.
You are not buying armor, you are buying a costume. It is labeled as armor because of how transmutation works.
Rare or Exotic doesn’t make a difference, because the stats are pretty much worthless. You are meant to use these pieces to transmute their appearance onto other pieces.
When you transmute an item you can select the appearance, the stats, and the rune to apply separately. So you take the appearance of the cultural armor, and the stats/rune of your permanent piece of armor. Your armor is still the Exotic piece it was before, but with a new skin applied to it.
You can be a member of that guild, and maybe communicate with them still (I’m not sure about that), but I don’t think you can do WvW with them since it’s server based, and I don’t think you can join dungeons, since those are server based.
You’re going to have to choose what you love more. Pixel people or rabbit cybersex.
I didn’t have a lot of time this morning, I logged in for ten minutes and tried twice, but Ashford Fields seems to be not very populated. We did manage to get together a few people for the group event ghost boss, but nobody talked.
I’ll try again this afternoon while my turkey is roasting.
