Might be an influx of people who were never interested in FOTM before that all of sudden have some motivation. Might balance out.
Indeed. We might see MORE people running low level fracs.
I see the big red anet logo on this thread but no dev post…
Did a dev post, revealing something they shouldn’t have, then delete it?
Unfortunately the change doesn’t apply to items that have already been acquired.
Can you at least make them salvagable or make it possible to throw them into mystic toilet?
The weapons are currently salvagable.
Yes, this is a big issue. I still haven’t been able to complete a single fractal because people always use exploits, cheats and probably hacks too and I have to leave immediately because I don’t want to get banned.
Lolwut. No one is using hacks or getting banned for running fractals.
It isn’t enough time though. Each fractal can take upwards of 1hr… and every even level? Has some kind of boss fight? That probably takes even longer… I can only play so many hours each day with my wife and 3 kids to take care of. They need to give us more time.
If your friends are at level 30+, you were already behind them anyways. Were you not concerned with catching up with them within the past year?
Like I said, I was afraid too. But now that Living Story content is being added I feel forced to fractal. There was no past year, this started today.
If you’re just doing it for the story, you can start at level 1 for the LS. If you just want to do level 30+, i’m not sure why this is suddenly an issue after a year and why you feel that you can no longer advance to that level once this update drops. There is no race, at least no more than the one that has existed since Nov ’12.
FYI, you can at least still get one chest per tier.

to get to 80 glitchs where used when fotm first got out from true pioneers of fotm. Afterwards people to 80 by only doing odds with people already at 80. People wont be able to do fotm 30 post update most likely because of AR change and simple infusion being turned into AR+1. So ya there is that. There is a week to update and you can still get to fotm 30 in that time fairly easily.
i have no doubt lots of people with AR 55 will start out at 30 and not look back.
I’m beginning to the think that the Aetherblade Retreat and Molten Facilities are the new alternate Jade Sea boss fractal levels.
I’m not saying it’s technically not easy, there just needs to be considerations for outlier cases like myself who can’t earn anything via RNG. Telling your friends “Hey guys, hold on a month or two for me to catch up” is even a worse idea now that there are going to be leaderboards.
How long have you been at it? Between laurels, commendations and running frac 10-15, it shouldn’t be that that intensive to get some AR.
… and about my question? Can you help?
(+5 AR / +5 Precision = wasted T6 mats)he answered it in a different thread.
essentially the old infusion slots will not be altered.
the infused items will be given a new unique slot that only holds agony resistance, you cant put mighty or precise infusions there
they will be get a +5 agony infusion in that slot, you can later upgrade the agony in that slot past 5.
your precise one stays the same, and it cant house the upgradeble agony infusions anyhow.Didn’t understand anything from this. I have a SunRise with 2 x +5 AR / +5 Precision.
1. What will the new SunRise look like (socket-wise)? Will it have 2 x AR sockets? or maybe 2 x Offensive + 2 x AR sockets or it’d be equivalent?
2. Will my composite infusions be upgradable? e.g. +6 AR / +5 Precision?
3. To upgrade, will I be able to “unsocket”? I fear that re-socketing will destroy the existing composite infusion…Why can’t an official company answer ever be clear?
Your weapons and it’s infusions won’t change. Existing infused trinkets will get a new slot that a new upgradable type of AR resist infusions can be put into. Your current AR will remain.
There is no evidence that any currently existing infusion with be upgradable.
if the new AR slots are indefinitely upgradable, there isn’t any need to make other equipment type inherently infused. No infused earrings, for example.
Actually there is:
W = 2^(n-1)
a (10AR) infusion = 512 (1AR) infusions
a (5AR) infusion = 16 (1AR) infusions2 (5AR) infusions cost = 512 – 32 = 480 less (1AR) infusions.
You’re just showing the math of how the indefinite increase work. They’ll probably limit it to the current 3 slots because you can keep upgrading those 3 till you’re blue in the face.
But to keep upgrading those, you will need a lot more (1AR) infusions, and a lot more money. Thermocatalytic Regeants are at 14.98 per 10. You need approximately 7g to make a (10AR) infusion, along with 512 (1AR) infusions.
To make a +11, you need 2 +10, which will cost you 14g. +12? 28g.
Keep doubling per +1.+1 AR reduces Agony very insignificantly.
If they add Infused Trinkets/Weapon/Accessories/Armor, all those +1 get split around.
The whole point is that it costs more and more to upgrade. If they just added more and more infusion slots and let you fill them for cheap, it would completely undermine the new system.
So, no easier way to start getting AR other than RNG or spending a left leg at the TP to MF one?
There are currently a bunch of ways to get ascended trinkets, and you can still put AR infusions in them. It’s about as easy as it’s going to get.
you are upset that your meaningless large number is being changed to a meaningful large number that is smaller than your meaningless large number.

According to Anthony, you keep that infusion.
- Your total agony resist will not change. If you had 55, you will still have 55.
BAM!

Nice.

I hope they at least make the AR visible when you ping it in chat or there will be alot of PuGs without the correct AR wasting our time because they can’t read.
You mean exactly like it is currently?

“Hey guys, let’s reroll till we get something farmable.”
I’m not sure they’d intentionally set the fractals up for this.
since they have two infusion slots like legendary weapons are they going to become legendary rank?
Ascended weapons have two infusions slots too.
- Agony resist infusions only slot into the Agony Resist slot, which is currently only found Infused Asccended Rings and Back Items.
Idk, guys. Kinda sounds like you’ll starting with 15 AR and then have to work your way back up.
If you have a +5, do you have to make 2 +5s in order to build a +6 and completely rewrite the +5 you have installed? Or can you pull out AR infusions in order to upgrade them?
Also, at higher Fractal levels the weapon skins become more common, and also start dropping in a container that lets you pick the one you want.
START dropping in an container? As in, you don’t get to choose until you’ve gotten to a certain level?
This means everyone is going to start over at AR 15??
Spoiler: there was always a rare chance to get them in the 10-20ish. The only change we made was to make them skins so you can apply them without spending a transmutation stone.
Will that change be applied to weapons that have already been acquired?
Better start salvaging those exotic frac weapons now.
What is the point of this? So people who have a brand new toon that they are terrible on can jump in to a high lvl fractal for the reward? That is such a bad idea. I want pug who can play their characters in high level fractals and the character based reward system in place now is what was stopping them. You’re taking that out! Prepare to kick pug.
This is in no way, shape or form any different than what happens now when you start a level 30 frac and only find out at the boss that someone who joined you doesn’t have any AR or fractals experience. Nothing will change here.
This has been a trend in GW2. With the changes to many rewards including those from dungeons, bosses, and now fractals, I have practically no reason to play alts. Granted I’m usually one to pick a class and stick to it, but any reward/incentive to play on them has been removed. They’ve just become pack mules and map exploration grinds to gather Gifts of Exploration in preparation for new legendaries.
On one hand, I like the idea of having account bound progression, but to remove rewards as well spoils it.
I’d much rather play alts under the new system since i don’t have to grind lesser rewards on an alt for 40 levels to catch up with my main.
It’s mainly a matter of 2 people putting in vastly different amounts of work and the result is the person who hardly did anything gets the prize while the person who spends 50+ more hours gets nothing. Some dude doing a level 10 and getting an easy drop vs some dude doing a 20 and getting an easy drop is inconsequential by comparison.
They say that the new system lets you “continually” increase AR. That’s evocative and vague.
The “value” issue is also one where people spend 200g on something that was promoted as being limited and no longer available. Having it come back and become indefinitely available certainly effects value, regardless of account binding having a somewhat limited (people stop buying when they can get it for free) effects on the market value.
Black Jetpack would be awesome though.
(edited by panzer.6034)
They kinda are common already but that’s because of the actual long endured work people put into acquiring them.
“long endured work”? lol.
I know people who’ve gotten a sweet skin the first time they run level 20 while I’ve gotten probably 30 chests at levels 20-40 without a single skin i can use. Simply beating a level 20 and praying to the RNG gods is practically as much of a joke as beating a level 10 with the same dumb luck.
Well some of us weren’t so lucky, I did 20s and 30s a lot, got jack, then did the way harder 40s and started getting them. Seeing this become a drop on 10 is a joke.
And 500 fractals? That’s practically nothing.
Meanwhile, some guy with 1500 AP gets one the first time he runs a level 20 frac. The system is crap and doesn’t necessarily reward people who work hard.
It took hard work, grinding, and a lot of persistence for me to get the skins i really wanted. It was worth it. Skins will lose their appeal if they become as easy as everything else.
I WISH you could get them from mere hard work, grinding and persistence. As it is, it’s just dumb luck on a (relatively) easy level 20 run. If anything, they should add a method where hard work, grinding and persistence actually guarantees you a skin.
In my opinion (and as someone who owns a jetpack skin), since they have made the bonus fractal at the end have a chance at being the Mai Trin or two Molten Champion fights (rather than just Maw) they should make it so at 30+ there is a chance at the bosses dropping an account-bound version of their respective past reward (monocle and jetpack). This would also increase the incentive for running fractals between 30 and 40 since that area is the one that seems to lack the most rewards (the only new rewards being sigils and runes).
I’d like them to add an alternate version so people who didn’t get a jetpack can get one and people who did can get a different one.
When Colin talked about the Molten Facility coming back for fractals, he specifically said they probably would not bring back rewards like the jetpack in order to maintain their value.
I don’t want six skins of a Fractal shortbow when I want a dagger or a shield.
Lol! I main warrior through fractals and i’ve only ever gotten fractal shortbow skins.
The fact that you can now get skins to drop at level 10 and that you get pristine relics at 10 provides a very strong argument for allowing us to buy the skins with PRs.
I could have sworn they specifically mentioned the rescaling, but I can’t find it now. We will know for sure in a week I suppose.
They definitely said they were adjusting the difficulty of 1-30. Dunno what that means, exactly.
Having the highest levels give the highest amount of gold in the game is a good way to get players to care about achieving that reward level.
They kinda are common already but that’s because of the actual long endured work people put into acquiring them.

The whole idea of creating a new character is why fractal levels should remain character-bound. Because frankly, there are some characters people just don’t know how to play on and some characters that they’re actually good on.
It doesn’t really matter since currently people can, and do, already join level 30 group sand suddenly be like “what is AR?” when you get to the boss.
I’ve been playing fractals for months, working really kitten getting 2 of my characters to level 49, one to level 50 and another one is still on her way. And what for?
“What for?” That’s a good question since, at the moment, there isn’t any reason to get to level 50 but you chose to go for it anyway.
Sure, that’s something you can only get better playing, but imagine how many times you are going to end a fractal run without reward because your party was not able to kill Mai Trin?
Having PUGs trying to do a living story dungeon placed in LA is a completely different animal from level 30+ fractal runner PUGs. I have no doubt those doing high level fracs will develop optimal tactics.
Why you ask? the answer is money. How you ask? the answer is transmutation crystals
/thread
which is completely dumb and backwards on their part. i won’t buy or use transmuatation crystals to permanently destroy an event skin while i would use a crystal if i had infinite uses of the skin.
I’ve spent a ton of karma buying obsidian shards for legendaries and ascended mats. Used to have millions but now i can stay over 1m to save my life.
I ran it with a bunch from my guild and multiple people were saying they thought it was the best LS update so far.
It will be Wintersday in a few weeks panzer, this storyline of the Tower was just another filler episode in the Living World saga…. Wait, haven’t they all been filler episodes?
They’ve had small, limited time events within longer releases before. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some sort of story once the antitoxin level maxes out and the core is supposed to be destroyed.
I just don’t get why Anet is playing it so close to the vest with Scarlet’s background. They desperately need to start leaking SOMETHING interesting about the character.
There HAS to be more since there was no revelation as to what the hell the tower was built for and what it’s purpose is. The antitoxin progress bar may lead to another story event in a few weeks.
It was the very essence of flash over substance. An awesome looking cinema that didn’t progress the story or reveal anything we didn’t already know.
