when HoT hits, every time you gain a level past 80 it will be granting mastery points. as of right now I’m having a hard time finding exactly what happens to your exp now.

depends on how you want to do it.

Thief or Mesmer with their stealth and teleport mechanics will allow you to waypoint hop across the entire map and level quickly. You can avoid most fights and its easy to take part in an event here or there.

Otherwise pick a class with high mobility (warrior, ele, engie) and hop into Edge of the Mists. You’ll be max level in 10 hours with boosters running.

I am of the opinion that all classes shine in all game modes, but you need the right builds in order to do so. If you are all about min/maxing, your options are limited. So much of this type of question depends more upon a player’s skill level than the profession they are playing.

In short…

WvW: want to roam? Engie. want to scout? Thief. want to zerg with everyone else? play anything.

PvP: want to kill players only? Thief. want to capture points only? Engie. want to never die? Guard.

PvE: want to explore and clear maps? Mesmer. want to speed clear dungeons? Ele or War. Want to zerg events and boss chains? Any class will do.

^ what he said. the runs will never show updated skill fact info, but their effects are affected by your duration increases. you can see this with condition duration increases if you hover over the stat on the hero menu. it will show you which conditions are boosted beyond the global listed amount. iirc the same cannot be displayed for boons, but you are still getting the benefits.

is the Stronghold access for everyone or just for those who have prepurchased?

unless you are swimming in trans charges, I’d say just keep it. there really isn’t a reason to salvage this over any other named exotic.

if you have a necromancer I’d save it for them for the elite spec coming up. condi damage might be useful with that.

stick with soldiers. you will enjoy the extra content in the same amount of time compared to nomads.

nomads is good for surviving, but not for defeating.

RNGesus tends to hit guilds in waves, visiting like a drunk santa. one time, over a year ago, 3 of our guild members got precursors in the Snowden Drifts guild puzzle in the span of a few days.

please no. healing power is nice. where is the sudden hate for healing power coming from the past couple weeks?

my guardian runs zealots / clerics. my healing power is awesome. my dps is not suffering that much. when zerk metas go down, Im still up fighting. and that’s if they go down. with me around, 99% of the time they don’t.

you can leave the party and get reinvited to try to get around this, although the success rate is not 100%. sometimes something as simple as going to a different waypoint in LA will correct the issue.

until it is actually fixed, the safest course is to just start your own instance, put up an LFG, and let someone else run into the problem.

I have been in fractals since they hit. I passed the 500 fractals achievement long ago. My first fractal weapon was a speargun, just over a year ago, and about 7 months ago I got a scepter. Nothing else since.

this could be a hard drive / parsing issue but only if the maps didn’t always take this long to load.

if your map load times have always been this slow you might try lowering your graphics settings a few notches.

yes, these features are typically mutually exclusive. the push to talk will always overwrite noise gate. play with the volume sliders to get your voice set to trigger it and keep unwanted background noise out.

if you are in an organized dungeon speed clear group, this is your fastest avenue to wealth in game.

if you aren’t clearing dungeons fast, silverwastes event chains are more profitable, including chest runs following main events.

during downtime clearing events and gathering anywhere in Orr will also help fill the gaps.

if no one else is on or you just need a change of scenery, go into zones like Timberline Falls and just gather everything you see. The mid-high tier of mats gathered can sell for a bundle.

with a combo of good dungeon speed clears, silverwastes farming, and material management, reaching an average of 40 to 60 gold a day is not unrealistic. do this for a couple weeks and you have your 800g.

no problem. I went to school for audio engineering. I’m glad to see my college education finally paying off!

A word to the wise and wary.

If you want to run dungeons with any regularity and you don’t get into a guild specializing in this, making an Ele will get you kicked far less than making a Ranger will. Beware of elitist meta runners.

Rangers can be devastating in PVP. They are also very good at soloing content, but not good at breaking any records.

there will be a way to do this once jeweler is expanded to 500 and we have a way to obtain and craft the crystalline orbs. with this opened up we will have the appropriate upgrade (exquisite jewels) for jewels to use in the mystic forge.

likely we will also have the ability to simply craft ascended trinkets from the ground up as well. with any luck it will be for the harder to obtain stat combos.

even if it’s the same I am looking forward to it. the halloween events are easily some of the most profitable holiday farms that come around.

the best? set up a camera on a tripod and record onto a P2 card, filming your monitor.

fraps is good, but ya it does have big file sizes. you can manage that in that program by splitting the recording every 4gb. makes it easier to get rid of clips you don’t need.

some of these fights do require a little more healing, condi removal, or at the very least paying attention to the fight now. Previously these fights were mostly steamroll over and barely pay attention.

The half baked komali fight has been bugged off an on since its inception. I think I saw the oozes spawn once in the several dozen times we have had to fight him. at this point, since we no longer need the influence reward from running a bounty successfully, we just pick an easier target so everyone can get their personal rewards and be done with it.

also in this category for crazy bosses and their conditions: Lyssa priest in Arah P4 can now dish out 20+ stacks of confusion on everyone. quickly. saw a report someone had close to 70 stacks at one point. O_o

couple of things to check:

in the options make sure you have autoattack on. this will select your target for you when you use a skill.

also, try to stop using the mouse to interact. go into the options and set keys for “Target Nearest” I use “C” myself. it’s close and easy to reach, and you can always tab target to the next one if you need to.

The mouse is a horrible thing to use in combat.

try mesmer or engie if you like to avoid the min/max meta.

Im not sure why mesmers get this rep, but mine does more damage than any of my other classes. (I have them all). yeah, my warrior can do some high, sustained damage while my thief can stealth a group for a short while, but my mesmer can do both of these things slightly better while still punching out good condi pressure and can spike 15k’s all at once.

Engineer with mortar kit and gadgets are amazing now. They are uncommon and always a welcome addition to a group.

OP, I suggest you adjust to the current state of conditions somehow.

What is it about conditions that is making fights no longer enjoyable? Are they over too quickly? Are you taking out your opponents too fast? Are they taking you out too fast? Is it really just simply: conditions do too much damage and I want fights to take longer?

necro is awesome.

all professions are awesome if you enjoy playing games.

if you enjoy min/maxing, forums, and complaining, then none of the professions are awesome. some of them are only tolerable, and a few are barely playable.

also: what on earth did you type to make necro hit the profanity filter?

unless you are clearing close to record times, you’ll get more money for your time overall just farming in the silverwastes.

this has always been a glaring dark mark for this game: the UI is horrible. this game would improve ten-fold if we just had something as simple as customizable UI options.

I use healing power. Zealots / Clerics. It’s always just enough to turn a bad moment in a fight into a successful one. I have tested this against full zerk, or just zerk/cleric and even zealots/zerk mix. With the same group in the same dungeon paths, the difference between my most dps or my most healing focused was about 10 to 20 seconds to the overall run time.

I’d much rather have an entire fight take 10 seconds longer if it’s that much easier.

On topic: I’d like to see more stat combos, but not with a 4th stat added. Juggling all of the combos is tough as it is if you want good synergy or balance, and if you min/max your builds you are very limited in your choices in some avenues due to missing stat combos not existing in armor / trinkets / weapons.

Lets get all existing stats available across the board first, then work on expanding what needs to be introduced.

Both of these professions have high damage potential, high spike potential, and strong condition potential. They both have light armor, and they both use a more magical weapon set.

The major differences are:
condition flavor. Elementalists will have a lot of conditions that do more damage up front. Mesmers have slower-to-damage conditions that are based on punishment instead of direct damage.
combo opportunities: Elementalists offer a greater number of combo fields and blast finishers. Mesmers have fewer fields and of a more narrow focus.
cheap tactics: Elementalist has ice bow, which does stupid damage. Mesmers can chain more stealth than a thief with the right traits.

I’ve tried many different methods, and here’s what I have found.

Those fractal bags, while cheap, are annoying with bag sorting.
You also have a whole lot of storage that ignores the functionality of how your inventory works.

I go with:
20 starter
20 bag (no sorting)
20 bag (no sorting)
20 invisible

keep all my important stuff (weapons, consumables) at the bottom, harvesting tools and salvage kits at the top, and everything in between just lands as I get it. Nothing gets sorted, and I never hit Compact anymore. with the salvage highlighting option it just takes a moment to salvage everything you can, do a deposit materials, then merch the runes/sigils/junk left over.

since you have so many safe boxes and uncommon boxes you are kind of working against yourself. you only have 20 slots for anything that is junk or common rarity, and when that runs out your bags are either giving up their exclusive spots or filling up your protected inventory. The only things that will sort into your fractal boxes are weapons and armor, and the occasional rare sigil or material. otherwise all your salvage and junk drops are taking over your inventory and it all becomes totally scattered.

we tried 100% rep for a while and all it did was hurt us.

instead we made an ally rank, and those that don’t rep often, usually end up in that rank. people have their own storage guilds, wvw guilds, pvp guilds, and so on. since we’re more of a pvx/social guild this works.

with alliance chat coming there is no reason for 100% rep but for the influence. if you are using 100% rep to keep track of people in your roster you have 2 problems: your guild is too large to manage, or you don’t have enough people to manage your roster.

large guilds with rep requirement tend to treat their members more like a spreadsheet and less like adventuring companions.

salvaging Globs of Ectoplasm will yield stupid amounts of Essense of Luck. You will get hundreds, quickly, and a lot of Crystalline Dust.

the downside of course, is you are salvaging Ecto.

you are also just hitting the point where it starts to take a lot more luck to get higher magic find numbers. check out the chart.

Ranger in melee has a lot of free dodging. Useful for solo open world play.
Thief falls into this category as well, but you have more control over then they evades happen.
Warrior won’t dodge as much but you get more blocks, mostly with conditional effects.
Mesmer can dual wield too, and have blocks with additional effects.

I have never gotten kicked for my profession or my gear. I don’t typically use my ranger in dungeons, but when I do I always ask first. If they have a problem I swap. I’ve brought my necromancer into 30+ fractal pugs and no one has kicked me yet. Not sure if I’m just lucky or if my AP earns me the benefit of the doubt (almost 12.5k.)

Gear and profession don’t matter to me as much as your skill and your ability to listen. Anyone who can listen to suggestions in strategy can learn to be a better player. Those who think they know best and bring everyone down deserve to be kicked. Gear and prof don’t matter unless you are specifically trying to break a record.

I noticed you typically get one out of early story mission rewards. since they revamped the NPE you no longer get to select one of the same three dyes as a level reward, and now you simply get an unid’d one. I’ve gotten at least one on each key farm since the trait changes. If you sell these it makes the chef craft leveling much less of a hit on key farm profits.

in all fairness, spamming aside… with the way prices on high price items go it is believable that someone could constantly be that far away from the price. I know 70% of the time I save up for a big ticket item, by the time I reach my goal I need to increase my goal. again. repeat a few times.

he shouldn’t be spamming / scamming, but some prices are unattainable without quitting your day job.

I think the mastery system for the legendary will work a little differently.

According to the wiki, it’s an account unlock progress thing, kind of like the pvp reward tracks. You set a character on legendary mastery, earn enough exp to unlock your first collection (you choose which precursor to unlock), then start scavenger hunting to complete said collection. If you continue on the track and gain more exp you can unlock another one.

So far it’s unclear if you need to finish one before starting another, if multiple characters can have the same progress or if they have their own, or if these will work like this at all.

In either case, the resulting weapons will always be account bound so you can swap them on to whichever character you want, and you’ll also unlock the skin so you can always cosmetically have a legendary on anything with the cost of a trans charge once it’s unlocked.

do events in Orr. heavy moldy bags. there really isnt any other reliable source of these short of laurels and just buying them.

if you get into a speedclear group you can run several dungeons in a night and earn up towards 30g a run, a day. (AC all paths, CM all paths, TA up/fwd, SE 1 and 3, CoF all paths (3 is not that hard with a good group) CoE all paths, HotW path 1, etc…)

You will end up with a few T6’s, a few lodes or cores to sell, and at least 1g at the end of each dungeon. Each gold will give you 3-5 more T6, times 17 dungeons… you get the idea.

Converting T5 to T6 is only useful for powerful blood though, on the other mats the process is questionable.

Id say this is true if you only plan on selling your results (armored scales fall into this category too) but if you are actually using the mats you may as well convert the T5’s you aren’t using to begin with.

necro’s can still dish out conditions, just not as fast as other classes, but you get more variety for sure.

chill had a recent nerf with the blind trigger trait. avoid this.

after the recent patch I went with a sinister/zerk hybrid and traited into curses/blood/spite. been having a lot of success with it.

why don’t character’s sound like chipmunks when they use shouts while under the effects of quickness?

um, because they take different mats to craft? duh.
light armor takes more damage from attacks. heavy armor, less. medium armor, medium!
light armor shows more skin. heavy, less skin. medium armor… lesse.. medium!
light armor is expensive! heavy armor is expensive! medium armor is cheap! wait…
