Personally, I don’t think burning needs to be changed. Everything burns at some point. Chill also makes sense, but I think it would be a “insta destroy object” once a certain duration threshold was reached. It gets cold enough and frozen enough and it just shatters.
The rest really don’t make any sense, and they need organs, a mind, or some kind of magical binding material to leech from. (Earth elementals and the like are constructs held together by magical force, so bleeding, poison, etc work because they drain the energy that binds them together; confusion because they have independent thought, torment because they move, etc..)
Objects are just fiddly. We should be able to crit them as well. Hit the right spot and you do more damage. That’s just physics.
look up the WoW player that guarded a bridge somewhere and killed everyone that came upon him. famous example of in-world non-instanced dueling used to grief.
GW1 halls had it’s own personal battle option, where you could go 1v1 or up to 8v8 to practice for GvG battles. It was a great way to test builds and get to know how things worked, and it was separated and treated just like a pvp zone, so all skills and abilities were adjusted accordingly. This would be an excellent addition, and could be something to add a tier of research to the Art of War in the guild hall construction line.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding what is being talked about by ‘dueling’… but my understanding is that dueling would be 1v1 or XvX on INVITE. As in you would have to challenge another to a duel and cannot just run around killing people…which would be Open world PvP, not dueling.
It would be by invite, but even repeated invited can be considered griefing (see: gold sellers, LFG abuse, etc). In the aforementioned example the factions in WoW were involved, as you could freely attack anyone that belonged to the other faction. I don’t see that problem even existing in this game, but there is nothing preventing bugs from slipping through.
Inb4: fixed a coding error that allowed Asura to initiate duals with players without confirmation. that kind of thing.
Not this tuesday, but next tuesday. not the next tuesday before the last next tuesday, but after the following tuesday after the this next tuesday, possibly between the former tuesday before last next, but not after this coming friday? I think?
before july.
maybe.
we hope.
TSW’s barbar shop also includes makeup and facial things like that (beards, etc). It doesn’t cost too much. I think if this were put into LA or something, it would likely cost about 50g or something (close to what the gold → gem cost would be). Kind of pointless to add since it’s in the gem store already.
What WOULD be nice tho, is something to purchase in the gem store once, as an account unlock, that would allow you to select hair-kit exclusive styles upon character creation, instead of buying a new kit for each alt. You would still have to purchase a new kit if you wanted to change your style down the road.

just turn your character render settings to the lowest option. you will look like you want to with the generic heavy model.
no, there isn’t. you can only upgrade ascended rings by infusing them, adding another slot for agony resistance upgrades.
Timberline Falls, no contest.
the upgrades continue to go while you do not rep. your personal guild bank will grow while you represent whomever you wish. you don’t even have to be logged in for guild upgrades to continue to work. these are on their own system.
the UI is… we have a love-hate relationship. it’s effective, it’s there, and it gives you the information you need. you can’t tell it where to live tho. you can kind of ‘swap’ position of the map/quest log and the chat/party window, but that’s it. there is no clear way of doing this, you kind of have to just stumble on to it. the inventory is the only window that can be resized, and at times it will do this for you on it’s own. >_<
it only takes a short time to get the basics down. the basics, are, however, very basic. 5 skills, swap weapon, and customize everything on the right side of the skill bar. learning how these skills interact with each other and other professions skills is another matter. type /wiki combo field once you are in game and spend some time working it out once you have played for a while.
the game is open world completely, except for your personal story missions which are instanced. like dungeons, you can bring up to 4 friends with you. (only on the final story mission are you required to) there is no typical questing system, and instead there are events and renown hearts which encourage you to do things in an area at certain times or after certain triggers. even when you are roaming by yourself, the gameplay feels like the whole server is a party and everyone is invited.
the ‘feel’ of the game is somewhere between big city and rural town. you can find instances of both, but it really feels more like a big-name theme park coming to a small town. every few weeks the circus comes to an area and everyone goes down to the corner to see the ruckus. between those times you grind out your favorite spots.
if you enjoy lore, exploration, or scenery at all this game will amaze you. stop and smell it for best results.
you don’t use a keyboard? if you are using xpadder make sure the following keys are not bound somewhere on your setup.

it might just be the position of the mouse as well at times. in my experience with a controller (first 2 months out of beta) the mouse could get away from me and I’d end up announcing word salad to everyone around me.
20 slot bags are not worth the investment on a slot per gold value unless you get then by special means.
Candy Corn Cobs
Fractal Relics
and for fractal bags only ever get the cheapest ones.
fun fact: if you commonly have enemies located near the top of the screen (near their health bars) and you use a ground targeted skill while your mouse is on their health bar instead of the enemy itself, the targeting ring defaults to centered on your character.
intended or not, who knows… but useful for classes that have both offensive and defensive gtaoe skills.
makes sense to me.. necromancers deal with life force and death. object contain neither of these. I’ve never seen a necromancer’s minions have trouble tearing apart objects.
a black lion chest key from a wvw bag in eotm.
when my account was a couple weeks old (including head start) I got a black lion key and opened a chest. I got another key. This happened 3 times in a row, so I got 4 chests on one key. I’ve since used up all my luck. All exotics that drop for me are worth 5g or less.
I think only burning makes sense here. there is no need to convert other conditions.
perhaps after enough duration of chill is applied the object just shatters.
give the AI the ability to react like human opponents and stacking will no longer work.
you might as well say please get rid of a legitimate military strategy because we are winning the war too easily.
you can play how you want, but what you want isn’t always the best way.
2 weeks, tops. specializations have been teased for a while now, and LA rebuilding / renaming has been resolved. all the hard work was already finished. now it just needs releasing after a few polishes.
inb4 a months worth of patches for bug fixes, however, that will surely result in such a system change on the live servers.
thank you for the link. the search options in this forum are still abysmal.
After taking over leadership of a guild I have been a member of since the young days of GW1, I have noticed a few things that are kind of no brainers to help new players and old alike get more out of their guild memberships and improve communication among members.
Message of the Day – a lot of new players don’t even realize this is a thing. We use this to put up event information and announcements, and people don’t know it’s there. A lot of other games with community management (including GW1) simply had the MotD appear in the system messages in chat when you logged in the first time. Please bring this back. It would make so much communication that much simpler. Bonus for a /motd command to make it appear whenever you want it to.
Representation – We are not a rep-required guild, so we often have allies or others online but not representing our guild. This is fine, but the method of telling apart someone from repping and someone who isn’t is not clear enough. These are already pushed to the bottom of the roster (if you sort it the right way). How about something simple like a line across the roster dividing those who are and are not repping the guild. This way you can tell at a glance, and you won’t try to talk to people who can’t see your chat channel.
Guild Bank – This is something we have to show people how to use. Again, a majority of new players do not even know that this is a thing. Our is divided by rank, and we make use of the text fields to label them as such. Since it doesn’t quite work like the normal bank there is a learning curve here (cannot split stacks or add to existing stacks in the bank itself). It would be nice if there were some notification or icon, perhaps in the guild menu itself, that would show or lead a member to their nearest guild bank. This could work just like scouts showing parts of the map, or those “Show Me” emails you get for dungeon notifications.
With guild halls teased and little other information regarding them, I’m hoping guilds as a community management tool get a lot of qol improvements.
Any other guild features you would like to see to help communicate with your roster?
brace yourselves… shadow behemoth farmers are coming.
I love this idea. this could be a simple interface option in your inventory. they already have the items tagged in the trading post, and could be tagged similarly, by:
rarity & type
so you could check blue, green, sigils, and runes, and then these are all treated as junk when you click that button in the merchant window.
anything more vague and you would start getting crafted gem upgrades and the like, which are usually worth selling on the TP.
from here, I’d also like to request the option to double click a salvage kit, then instead of clicking on every item to salvage I could instead double click on the inventory bag, which would salvage everything contained in that bag only, at the regular cost of salvage uses. this is the only game where I have had to macro double clicking just to manage inventory, and it is tedious.
+1 for the cookbook idea.
trehearne vodoo doll.
plush risen abomination
priory focus skin keychain
engi turret mailbox
firey greatsword shovel
or best thing ever:
dinky pull-cord-with-quotes doll
i have noticed this behavior out of combat, specifically when something is targeted (player or NPC) and they are positioned by your side. it’s more noticeable if they are much taller than you are.
it’d be really nice if your toon looked towards interesting far of things. maybe poi’s or vistas you haven’t discovered yet…
They will return…they always do..
bunny ears…
I use a mouse with 4 buttons for the thumb. weapon swap is the bottom one (down) on the base of the mouse.
q and e are good options if you don’t strafe with them.
z, x, and c are also excellent options if you dont use them for anything else.
I hate mai trin, but only because pugs seem to have problems with her. jade maw is so easy. molton duo is so easy. we need new ones, honestly..
dhuum, urgoz, and that demon from the deep?
most powerful to me means when I use the skill I feel like I’m cheating.
warrior: that healing stance convert damage thing.
mesmer: that signet that recharged illusions.
thief: pistol whip.
guardian: contemplation of purity.
ranger: that make me invulnerable signet.
engineer: A.E.D.
necromancer: life transfer.
elementalist: ice bow
might is just quickness without the side effect of shortening your own positive effects. all it does is reduce battle times.
I think of might as increasing your potential to go above and beyond what you are normally capable of.
if might stacked vuln and after enough stacks produced chill or fear, it would have tactical use. right now it’s just a time reducer. further nerfing or removing might would only make fights last longer, and nothing else.
longer fights means more chance for mistakes, means more time playing in the game, means lower drop rate, means more money for anet in the long term.
gs for pulling trash to stack
hammer for skipping trash to keep them at bay.
for pve roaming, Id go with shouts and teleports. retreat, save yourselves, and judges intervention. sword/focus for teleport/block. greatsword for hearts and travel between nearby points, swap out staff for long runs between points. use food that boosts boon duration to overlap swiftness.
traits? anything that procs on blind is good. anything that adds additional condition removal is good. you could go condi damage in pve and even be fine. efficiency is key and mobility is paramount when making exploring quick.
hey, they could just not tell us anything until it’s ready for release… would you rather have that?
What are you guys doing while waiting on Hot?

clear maps to 100%. gather everything. do events. salvage everything. if you get white, light armor drops and you don’t need the mats, sell those on the trading post. they typically go for way more than merchant value (due to the salvage potential)
do dungeons, but mix them up. doing the same one over and over will get tiresome fast.
removing someone from your friend list doesn’t put them on the followers list afaik. Followers have you on their friends list. apart from a polite request I don’t see any way to get those names off your list. there’s always the /block feature, but that should be used sparingly and for gold sellers.
anytime I have gone through and removed people from my blocked list I have never had a sudden influx of unwanted whispers. if it becomes a problem, block them again.
this has been brought up MANY times in the past. GW1 even had this feature: saving build templates.
I believe it is something that the current team of GW2 is interested in making a reality, but there is no word on when, if ever, this will happen.
I’d say this is at the top of most players’ wish lists.
you should make them lost belongings once again!
man, could you imagine what the cost would be of account bound items like this on the TP?
I wish there were a way for friends to help each other out with account bound items. I can’t count how many times someone has wanted some blade shards and look at my stack of them and wish how I could help them out.
If they allowed for personal trading ONLY for account-bound (not soul-bound) items, it would allow people to help each other and not effect the economy of the game in any negative way I can see.
The other solution if you don’t have the time to craft this awesome stuff you want, is just to save up the gold or throw money at the problem. Typically the end results of the high end crating (legendaries) are up for trade and you can already just purchase them in game.
they already have this in the game. you can do it two ways.
hit I. double click.
hit H. double click.
you can also right-click and assign to your weapon slots individually.
yes, this is more than a one-button solution that every one else gets.
but engi and ele get more access to skills to start without having to do this already. other classes do.
Id say this wouldn’t work at all. First because yes, once you purchase it you unlock the skin for good. You purchased it for the stats with is a great, cheap way to get zerk stuff, but typically dungeon items are unlocked for the skin or for the collection achievement.
The tokens you spent weren’t wasted. You got a skin, progressed in your collection, and you didn’t have to spend any gold on a max exotic stat.
I can’t even imagine the headache of allowing a refund period for both collection progression and wardrobe unlocks. Buyer beware, and you can’t help what drops. Consider yourself lucky: you aren’t out 10 gold because of this.
if you have enough skill on a thief you can solo a low level fractal in high end, ascended gear. you can even solo the swamp fractal with traps/teleports.
it just takes a god-awful long time.
he heals up to half health if he gets downed then brought back up.
otherwise, hey, I just found a use for a clerics symbol guardian!
while this is a good way to level an alt, given the frustrations you encounter it’s easier to join the karma train in Edge of the Mists. you won’t get vote kicked or trolled and you get levels like candy.
you have a lot of work ahead of you.
currently the hall of monuments rewards in GW2 are still locked out. no word on when they will be fixed, but we have been assured they are both aware and working on it.
I would check out some pvx build sites for GW1 and deck out your heroes in some support-way type builds, and start clearing maps/missions.
And if you’d like help, our guild does a flashback day to play GW1 once a week to do exactly this type of thing. Look my sig toon up in GW2.
go for utility, because down the road you can put a bonus to your karma, magic find, gold, etc in it. (I’d recommend karma, because it’s the most beneficial reward)
because at level 80 you can finally unlock your chosen professions true potential. this is the only thing, apart from recommended map access, that makes any difference.
yes, this is an annoying bug. the “use your heal skill, noob” indicator becomes stuck now.
funny behavior tho.. if you hit the escape key while it’s bugged you cause it do replay through it’s animation, over and over…
try doing this, but also blowing up all your turrets in the same field at once. Stealth for everyone, forever!
more than i would care to admit.
less than I would like.
