yeah.. perm stealth isn’t really a thing in this game.
with shadow arts with your thief you can make good use of playing scout in open world pvp.
if you want to feel less squishy, you can do this on any profession. it’s all about the armor and the trinkets you select.
with long range open world pvp and a desire to mess with people, Id try Mesmer or Engineer. these classes are both fairly unpredictable and tougher to master than the others.
So…
if you ctrl-click on your auto attack ability to turn off that behavior, does this reflect while being under the effects of taunt? does taunt force you to use skill 1 or whatever ability is assigned to auto attack?
might be a way to work around this feature or make some advantage of it, depending on the skills you have at the time. same as turning walk on when feared so you don’t travel as far.
maybe I can finally get my tail swipe achievement
trait for fear damage and duration. the damage is excellent still. applying chill on blind helps from kittening everyone else off by doing this.
when reaper hits add the chill damage and we’ll be back above where we were before.
Anyone get any spirit shards to drop off mobs yet? I’m interested to know if the drop rate for these is close to the same rate as gaining a level as before, or if I should expect to see spirit shard packs in the gemstore soon…
Im sure we will get this option with the mystic forge (like armor and weapons now) when we can craft higher tier jewelrey (crystalline orbs, etc) once jewel crafting is expanded to 500.
until then, just keep the good ones.
lets not forget lyssa in arah p4 with confusion. saw 70 stacks of it last night. was insane
…by the power of kilroy!
so far my guardian feels the strongest, but that is the class I have spent the most time on overall.
my necromancer went through another “I feel like a god” moment after the patch.
my thief went through the lost ricochet crisis, but feels better about venom skills now.
so far so good.
yeeah.. boss magic made me replace spite. SPITE. ITS SO OP.
with condi duration runes and food you can get the burning from dhuumfire to stack up to 5 times on a rotation. it is very easy to stack chill, poison, bleeding, vuln and fear, pop shroud, and stack torment while stacking burning, and more fear all without breaking any other skill animation.
shroud skill 1 goes faster underwater, so any champs there just melt. (ya ya, who plays underwater)
condi necro’s strength has never been the number of stacks, but the duration of the stacks, and their variety. you can do every condition, and even confusion if you are an asura.
but no other skill insta cures everyone, regardless of your healing stat. this is the skills true power. it takes timing, and it takes coordination, and it takes patience. if you are in a full zerk team with low health pools and you are all about to wipe, this skill can save everyone, even with nothing in healing power.
of course, if you are in this situation you likely will kill whatever your target is before you need to use it.
this skill is a back brace for pug lifting. that is all. chained correctly in a zerg in wvw you could, in theory, make a zerg twice has hard to kill, but the coordination is mind boggling, and you would need 1 guardian for every 5 people involved.
it has a very niche use, but at least it has a neat effect for screenshots.
is it just me, or do only charr like, belch instead of saying “feel my wrath”?
like, really? belching? wtf? I don’t need more wildstar in my guild wars =P
you must all be playing a different game than I am. my full sinister necro is rocking the condition damage. burns for over 2k and bleeds almost to 4k in some fights. everything is melting.
our zerg had 10+ seconds of quickness on every fort champ and vet last night in eotm. not to mention the 4 minutes of swiftness and almost 2 minutes of fury we had stacked up…
wow you really are a grumpy hermit.
I spend 7 hours in there. most of that was looking for stupid karka. the rest was trying that JP. I wanted to kill stuff today instead, but time got away from me.
Here, have a reply, and i will try to summarize future replies as well…
RNG is RNG.
Omg you have one of these? #1%problems
You know, TECHNICALLY these aren’t misleading because…
Something random about how this isn’t at all related to Hot pricing.

Yeah, I agree, while the rewards are somewhat misleading I wish you could (insert suggestion for an improvement)
Two down! Goob job everyone!
the only time I have used shield and found it beneficial to other options was during the Southsun Guild Challenge.
Skill 4 is… not horrible. little damage, little protection, nice cone shape. would be nice if it were a aoe ring, honestly. maybe prot and retal, or buff the damage along with the CD reduction. (more damage vs burning / vuln / blinded foes?)
Skill 5 is nice, but it would work better as a persistent bubble that allowed you to move with it, lasted like 5 seconds, and didnt go away when you burst heal with it. reduce the healing on it and allow us to spam burst it, with each burst granting a moment of well-timed missile reflect instead of missile destruction.
yeah, that sounds like a fun weapon. still not a better option than focus tho..
hmm…
want to live and help everyone else more? clerics
want to kill stuff faster? zerkers
want to do both? zealots (super expensive tho )
keep in mind you can only put non-bound stuff in the guild bank. all account/soul bound drops are still limited to your own bank.
any good x/p thief will reserve their headshots for dimishing stacks of defiant, not actually interrupting. nothing else in the game is as fast for clearing defiant stacks, but the interrupt itself is very lackluster. teach your speedclearing thieves how to play and you can open up your icebow freeze every time.
even with that fix that’s a pretty glaring issue. I have been lucky enough to never run into this, but I guess that is my account’s version of RNG. (its certainly not the loot =P)
players shouldn’t have to keep an error message open for others to trick the game into keeping an instance open. that is a hack on a glitch on a coding error, and it doesn’t speak well for the game’s base programming.
+1 to filling out the error report. that whole squeaky wheel thing.
I am excited for a great many things. My guardian, necromancer, and mesmer will be powerhouses. Im really upset at some of the engi changes, but I am also very interested in how they will work now.
ele, thief, and ranger all need a total rework, as my builds there no longer exist. sad face. still looking forward to it tho, since theorycrafting is basically a second hobby at this point.
harvest everything you see in Timberline Falls
harvest everything you see and do every event you come across anywhere in Orr.
do event chains and open bandit chests in Silverwastes.
I prefer orr the best, because after an hour or two of just chillin, killing zombies and hacking trees you should have a nice gathering of foxfire clusters (which sell for a nice amount, they add up) and heavy moldy bags, which give T5 and T6 mats. You aren’t required to zerg there to do events and there is no shortage of things to kill.
silverwastes is much more profitable, but it can feel much more like a grindy farm. Orr just still feels more organic and relaxed.
on thief: pistol whip every time I see the red circles. maintain DPS and evade everything.
on mesmer: Vigor on Crit, sword skill 2, dodge like you are covered with burning ants.
on guardian: aegis chain, soak it (using zealots/clerics, your mileage may vary)
on warrior: warhorn, vigor, endure pain.
on ranger: immunity signet, protect me shout. timing with GS skill 1 evade (experts only)
on anything else: have one of your friends bring the above warrior
Asura Necro for +confusion into your condi rotation. My largest regret after making a condi necro was making it human. (but she is too pretty to reboot)
Norn Ranger for animal forms, stealth, lore, etc.
Sylvari Ele for the healing seed and invuln elite. Ele’s are squishy, Sylvari are less so.
Charr Revenant, seems like they will benefit from battle roar, fits into the lore, plus charr in anything but heavy armor just look silly.
Ive been enjoying this game for 3 years, and the GW1 for 10. The only times I have never enjoyed it is when I allowed MAP chat through the filter.
I could see the benefit, but if implemented it should not be baseline. It should be a purchased upgrade. Kind of like the “extra crafting slot” thing.
If crafting were account wide from the start new toons could not level or benefit from it at all (except the gear you craft itself).
Also, say goodbye to Chef black lion key farming.
Ya I got that. I made these purchases before the spirit shard news. I still have a couple toons with hundreds of SP tho, so, yay shard bank?

I liked the part when the OP completely skipped Water Magic.
I still found the whole thing confusing so I spend all my skill points on elderich scrolls, because I don’t want to trust that my extras will turn into RNG mystic forge items. I have enough clovers and obsidian, ty.
I used to throw them into the forge for upgrades. all I ended up getting was a loss of 75% of the coin I would have gotten with fewer clicks just selling them to the merchant.
Ive thrown this idea out before, but it would be nice to have an “on/off” filter on the junk setting similar to the trading post. Assign what is considered junk by type and rarity.
You are supposed to open those mate! They are chests of loot. Booty. Treasure. you know… income? You don’t save your paychecks from going into the bank and being used, do you?
I feel like that guy from that one movie. He doesn’t know how to use the seashells…
I have the same problem.
I rely on autotargeting during combat, but I hate it when Im just trying to speed run through mobs and I want to stay out of combat.
my solution; if there is nothing to target within your field of vision you wont target it. I leave the auto target option on, and when I want to use a targeting movement skill to leap past mobs, angle the camera up toward the sky. No targets, no problem. Just make sure you are facing the right direction first.
um, yeah, this was a planned change. anything like this has to be approved and such.. conceptualized, worked out, bugs worked out, tested, etc… that’s more than 2 days work for the size of the database of just ascended stats alone, not to mention mystic forge recipes. this has been coming for a while.
dragonite ore is a no brainer. bloodstone dust and emp. shards came out. durr. there’s like, a pattern or something.
if you find a map that isnt at 100%, you can hover over the icon legend on the side of the map screen and the missing types will highlight on the map for you.
you can also turn on that content option in the options menu that “leads you” to the next nearest point you haven’t found.
visit the chantry of secrets, its the only poi that’s required that is never pointed out, and unless you choose and play through the order of whispers story you are never led to it naturally.
pay attention to maps that have had things added since you may have explored them before. Divinity’s Reach, Kessex Hills, Lions Arch, Brisban Wildlands, and so on.

Like this idea. Excellent summary OP, +1. ANET hear our prayers.
if you like front-line support while dishing out damage, you would benefit greatly from Zealots. yes, it is a huge investment, but it is a great pay off. you have very solid damage output, (same power/prec as a zerker) and your healing will be a boon to yourself and others near you in melee. Your ferocity suffers, but I’ve noticed this is never a huge deal on guardians to begin with.
I run with ascended clerics trinkets with zealots armor, and no one has ever kicked me from a zerker speed clear. bring a way to give yourself fury and trait into party support (reflects, toughness, etc).
well, hallowed ground should be obvious. you are not on the ground, so you cannot hallow it.
walls usually need something to stand on, and water is a poor foundation.
purging is more of an area, aura… thingie, and santuary is just a bubble so those work just fine.
but don’t try to make too much sense of how underwater skills do or don’t work. if anything underwater made any real sense, no one would be able to use shouts either…
30s to 60s if I recall.
protip: bags and other containers that have loot tables specific to your level and not the level of the mobs they drop from will always drop level appropriate stuff, regardless of which toon got the bag. it depends on who opens it.
open a bunch of lost bandit chests in the silverwastes, save up all of your containers from this map, and put them in your bank. open them on your lower level alt and you will get tons of the mid-level mats you are looking for. This is how I have avoided buying linen for months.
Teq fights have gotten to the point now that everyone is pretty familiar with them, and I haven’t seen a fight fail in weeks. (even 7 hrs after reset) The burn phases go quickly and everyone gets their chance for sweet loot, lots of gold and of course their spoons.
I have every achievement for this fight except dodging the tail sweep. From what I understand, this attack only occurs after the first megalaser defense phase, and only if the first burn phase doesn’t do enough damage to trigger the next megalaser defense right away. Since everyone has become so efficient at this event, I never have an opportunity to get this achievement.
Anyone have recommendations on what I can do here?
This was easily the best 100g (at the time) I spent in the game. Tag up for events and people just flock to you. This has great use in the pve environment and if you enjoy helping people at all this is a good investment. You will rarely be alone and you will sometimes even get thanked by the nicer players. Tagging up is often very rewarding.
So in order to make 500 Jeweller worth it, I think it needs some equipment with unique stats and stat boosters. With this I mean that certain parameters in-game can now be increased with trinkets only. These will become “Extra stats” that are only visible on the heroes panel when you equip this special type of trinkets. I was thinking of the following:
- Swiftness increase %
- Endurance renewal speed increase %
- Range increase %
- Fall damage decrease %
- Jump hight %
- Leap distance increase %
- EtcThese stats will only be visible when you have them, and only when you click on “More” beneath your normal stats. I’m suggesting this to give 500 Jewellery an actual use. All ascended jewels we currently can get would be useless if we could make it ourselves if more cheap version are ready-to-go.
If you have a better idea to make Jeweller 500 useful, I’m all ears. Please remain civil!
They already have this to an extent through agony infusions on ascended trinkets for account boosts (gold, karma, etc) and minor stat increases (power, healing, etc). there is room on these for things like missing stats and other account unlocks for future content (masteries come to mind). Your ideas seem game breaking, and not only do they require a new system, but they also would be very minor boosts if used at all.
500 jeweler should allow crafting ascended trinkets, and fill in the gaps for what current stats we have access to that we cannot craft yet.
while I would welcome the addition of a passive speed boost, guardian is the only class where I never felt like I needed it.
hallowed ground > staff 3 > retreat > save yourselves = over 1 minute of 33% movement that you can overlap. frequently. add boon duration (which never hurts on a guard anyway) and you can run forever, faster than the 25% passives. these skills recharge fast enough you can swap them on the fly when you need them.
Please give us better combat, damage, and healing traits. No passive speed boost for me.
save your money, stop buying wintersday gifts, and buy it off the TP. I’m going through the same thing with Shadow of Grenth. It was 30g, I thought ok I can pick that up any time. Geared up my ele, had 10g, now I have over 30 and checked the price. Its over 70. >_<
my own fault for not getting it sooner. can’t predict the market. grind it out or throw money at the problem. the market isn’t going to pause just for one player.
Do them all, even Vigil. They are fun. When in doubt or you have to repeat content, go with Tybalt.
In the past I have noticed little difference in the amount of damage you do and the number of hits you get in to the loot you get. (coming from a clerics, defensive guardian here).
The general consensus seems to be:
You get more loot the more you tag (just hit, damage doesn’t matter as much)
You get more loot if you are in a party with others. (Mobs your party members tag count as your tags, so you can get loot from them as well)
Making Nomad gear will make you a defensive powerhouse for sure, but make sure to use area attacks to tag as many things as possible, and bring some friends with you. Pick something with an offensive stat for your trinkets and you won’t notice any difference.
Things to do with your time, money, and energy:
Go through living story.
Work on getting all the achievements.
Get 100% map completion.
Attain a higher rank in PvP.
Craft all disciplines to up 500 (400 for jeweler and chef)
Craft a legendary weapon.
Gamble in the Mystic Forge.
Reach Fractals level 50.
And if none of this works, you can always send me some of your mats / gold to help me finish crafting my Shadow of Grenth. >^_^<
I don’t care what they do to LA, but if we don’t get some love for that poor kitty on the pillow in the old pirate cave (and by care I mean putting that cat on a pedestal to be worshiped) then kitten is going to go down.
