I’m pretty ambivalent now, but I used to like the idea, yeah. Haven’t you been reading our threads? There’s a subset of people on Maguuma that would love to go back to T4 and never wanted to leave it in the first place. Tiers aren’t everything. The only reason I’m ambivalent right now is that we’ve become decent at countering FA zergs when we actually have good groups. The problem is that FA runs large groups far more than I see us having organized groups, be it from morale, wearebads, or whatever.

Ouch! Then you guys spammed laughs at us when trying to camp our spawn exit…portal bombed the entrance and got pooped on again! Then you proceeded to lost the rest of what you had because I guess your “raid time” ended. You had plenty of chances to farm us during that, but I guess you felt like being nice…so thanks, GODS! You are truly worthy of the name.

I mean really what the hell? All this crap talking about our open field battle skills and you guys all ran back into spawn. Like 20 of you…

I wish I had recorded some of the things I saw last night, but I’ve never tried recording because I already play on high graphics with an absurd resolution at the cost of frames in larger battles. I don’t really know anyone that records on a regular basis at all, either.

You guys attack our east keep at the most opportune times, so I don’t think “goons” are the only vultures. Though I am very confused as to why you keep saying goons, because there aren’t that many in the goon guilds that still WvW. :P
Not sure I understand Mags(i know its not all of you) reasoning for wanting to move down. They like “farming”, but want to go faceroll the lower servers?
There’s some identity crisis going on in Mag I think.
Something like that, some of us think we’ll have low enough numbers to make T4 fun. It’ll be impossible to tell until it actually happens. Anecdotally speaking, we had a lot less people on during the latest reset (two maps with low queues instead of four maps). It could be low morale (what I believe) or people leaving (what other people believe), but two queues is (was?) about the population size at reset in T4.

You knew, but still got wrecked I don’t think there were 20 of us at that spawn, but you may be right. All I know is half of you died and the other half (if even) ran away. Oh yeah, and half of the time you guys were on (when I also was) our commander was dutifully in the south capping supply camps, so we weren’t super organized, either.
Trash talk aside, that really was legitimately the most fun I’ve had in WvW recently, so thanks for that…RET on DB borderlands on Friday was pretty fun too
Edit: Though I agree with mister xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx avulaxxxxxxxxx that a lot of you really could use improvement in open field combat….consider the fact that your organized guild groups are almost constantly going up against a huge hodgepodge of small guilds on Maguuma, among other things.

Some delicious action on Mag BL tonight, I liked wiping DICE and their alpha and omega in NE tower, and the long fight for our NW tower back. And the DB AoN-wannabes.
This match has eroded away into boring. There are a couple times during the day were big strategic decisions can be made or there are marginal battles to be fought. Otherwise the only thing left to fight is the new harvest of lousy commanders on FA.
Yea I try to speak out against the trolls who are critical of players learning the ropes. I think more just need to speak out.
I don’t know if trolling is why people don’t follow commanders. I think most old Maguuma players are just so used to no icons that we auto pilot on what we should be doing based on that map, so sometimes icons get ignored.
That does happen especially when the threat isn’t great. But often times, new commanders are shamed and embarrased publicly so that they don’t leave their icon on. THey don’t end up leading much and learning much. The server is then dependent on the playing schedule of a few well known commanders. This is just to point out that there is an attitude issue with some players on Maguuma against newbies and it hurts the server in the long run.
Commanders shouldn’t turn on their icons when they want to learn. They should turn on their icons once they know what they’re doing.
erm, that doesn’t make sense whatsoever! How can a commander practice being a commander with out having a tag on that attracts not only his guildmembers, but also pugs?
We have a couple of commanders, that where new, but really good players and our community seems to feel at ease when they see commander icons in BL. Now i agree in EB, it gets a little crazy as there are like 4 to 8 commanders on and some of them i wouldn’t follow, because i don’t really know them. If i don’t wanna follow them just join a commanders squad or do whatever u like. Let them have their tag. Tag doesn’t mean to blindly follow.
While I agree that that sentence isn’t right, I think his real point was that when people new to WvW come in with icons and are very assertive in what they’re doing, even when it’s plainly a bad move, they’re doing it wrong. I’ve seen a few of these guys pop out of the woodwork and it’s really annoying. You don’t need to preach to us that we don’t need to blindly follow icons because we usually don’t, but there are almost always people who do follow icons blindly, and that is a net loss for us. New commanders need to admit that they are new and be willing to take advice, and they also need to not be so unknown to the WvW population to at least inspire some amount of confidence. For example, Montzor from NOVA is a pretty new commander, but I’ve seen him around so long that I know he’s at least a reasonable person. Some of the others? Not so much.
No, I don’t think it goes back to turtling at all. In my personal experience, when our borderlands turns red for any significant period of time, everyone leaves. Or at the very least, Mumble turns very quiet and so does team chat.
Maguuma has no tolerance for commanders trying to learn the rope.
This is actually true. I have 6 or 7 icons in my guild, and only 2 ever use them. Maguuma isn’t very friendly to new commanders.

Fact is DB and Mag have equally been awfully shy about going into FA’s BL….
Probably we don’t have enough people to venture into FA very much. Every time I hear someone in my guild talking about playing in FA it involves a giant defensive zerg running over your face if you kill too many of their yaks. With frequent pressure from FA and DB stepping in at very inopportune times, it makes it difficult to mount offensives on other borderlands. And the statement about spawn advantage is just saying that they have an easier foothold into FA than we do.

It has been really annoying how often “spy/sabotage” occasions happen when Fort Aspenwood [BT] guild approach an objective.
IE buying Keep upgrades to burn supply, throwing catapult build sites on top of our mortar to prevent countering the trebuchets taking our wall down, ram build sites on the walls that are about to go down from trebbing, building rams at the supply depot, etc
Sabotage/spy is the decision of few/many and the actions of 1.
It is very interesting how we see this behavior when facing FA so frequently, most other matches have not had this much interaction to assist a server in capturing objectives.
Higher population, oceanic coverage, and relies on spy/sabotage to take big objectives

Why would FA bother doing any of those things you describe? It’s not like doing any of that would have a difference in the score, FA are miles ahead.

probably, EA was also the guild spamming the golems too.. funny how when that got taken out of the WvW they had a harder time defending anything.
We learned about golem-in-a-box because FA was hitting us with them and we became curious. Again, for the record, I never personally used them.
