Context is very important. His first reply to you specifically said Maguuma posters were saying we were overhyped. You replied saying he hadn’t been paying attention to the dialogue between TC and Maguuma. Dialogue implies a two way conversation. Where is the other half?

For what it’s worth, we made huge strides over the last couple weeks because we dominated dead servers. Tonight we’re up against two strong servers, and holding our own. At least in EBG we’ve been handed a “warm” welcome to tier 3 and clearly ganged up on, pinballing back and forth from North to Southeast fighting off DB zerg after FA zerg and I don’t recall seeing either of those servers taking land from each other for the 4 or 5 hours I was in tonight.

This is more fun. This is far better than what we’d had for a while now, enjoy it.

The fights in the Lord room of SM were a lot of fun.

We were overhyped, but that doesn’t mean we don’t belong here. I don’t know all this about so many transfers over the last few weeks, the same commanders I’m used to seeing were leading and the people that are used to following them were doing so. Enough with the troll posts. Lift your heads up Maguuma, you belong at this level among good competition and who knows where the week will end.

I think maguuma has creted a bad rep for themselves. Some are humble, others blatantly kitteny, others hide their arrogance by “trying” to be polite to those server it just steamrolled, but letting them know they are clearly better.

Please. Look at your own post history. Claiming we aren’t having fun because we’re not winning by 300k+, twice, when it was explained multiple times that that’s not at all the reason why we aren’t having fun. Especially since one of the people you replied to is a solo roamer and it’s quite obvious why he’s not having fun. You are no better than the worst of our trolls, ignoring rational explanations to believe what you want. By the way, we beat Yak’s Bend on equal footing before we were bandwagoned, but they like to ignore that fact too.

Nobody is even saying you guys are bad, we’re just saying we’re not having fun because we don’t enjoy the different play in this tier of WvW. So no, we don’t belong here. We’ve been saying that for the past week.

The difference between these other “superservers” and Dragonbrand is that we grew organically after a mass exodus and a colossal fall to the bottom tiers. Guilds joined us on their own and settled into the WvW culture on our fight back up.

There was no chest-thumping. Barely any recruitment threads. And we fought to have fun in every tier as many of our past opponents can attest. We dont have an entangling alliance – we have guilds who perform at what they do best without stepping on eachother’s toes but cooperating when needed. We are humble folk here on Dragonbrand save for a few “scrappers” here on the forums.

Whatever tier we end up in – it is what it is. Dragonbrand will continue to fight, and continue to have fun because that’s our WvW culture.

Would you like to have a comparison between the number of recruitment threads Maguuma has had vs how many Dragonbrand has had? :P

You have no idea how much we’d like that! You people that assume that 1) we were super hoping and thinking we would win this fight and 2) that we even want to be in this tier are greatly mistaken. Let me remind you that it was everyone else betting on Maguuma, despite protests from people from Maguuma itself.

I think Mag are in for a surprise when we hit Oceanic time. Even FA was taken by surprise by NNK guild the first time we faced DB.

We’ve fought NNK before…not to mention our Oceanic presence has always been very small. Rumors of our Oceanic zerg have been greatly exaggerated.

And it’s the third week in a row.

Pretty much everyone is making random predictions off of hearsay…some people think we should be in T2 or T1, some people think we have 24/7 coverage now…no idea where any of that comes from.

Ha, I was just thinking about this subject. It really annoys me that people use every conceivable way to format a date (colons? really?) and some abbreviate servers while others don’t and zzz probably nobody actually cares.

AoN is not back on Maguuma, last I heard. And PANG is dead, unfortunately. I don’t know if we still do Pangloss since I don’t do Eternal much anymore.

Actually a lot of Yak’s Bend stopped coming out to play during the last match because of overwhelming numbers. I wouldn’t expect this match to be much different, if CD is really dying.

We are pretty good at getting matchup threads locked before the match starts, maybe this one was a little too early I dunno if you can edit thread titles, but putting the date would be nice.

Sorry, I didn’t really feel like explaining it again, because it’s been said many times in other threads. It’s basically that we aren’t used to and don’t really like super zerg/lag battles, for the most part, and the higher you go, the more likely that will happen. Overall, yes, our server is given more of a challenge, but it’s not really the kind of challenge we want.

I personally don’t think we’ll last in T3 for more than a few week for two reasons. First, we were propelled into Tier 3 not because were a dominating server, but because IoJ had a much higher rank and lost most of their WvW guild. This allowed us to game the Glicko system and jump 4 spots. Second, after we begin to lose the next couple of matches, we will begin to lose players as they seek greener pastures in either higher or lower rated servers.

I think, however, that we will again be able to troll tier 4 as we have always been destined by the grace of Great Lord Flame Ram. Up-and-coming servers and servers dropping from tier 3 will be converted to his mightiness and aid in his quest to defeat his archenemy, Under Lord Reinforced Door.

I’m not so optimistic about that. SBI seems like it will drop out of the first three tiers and IoJ already has. I also don’t think transfers will happen en masse, because free transfers end on Monday and moving guilds will be a lot more difficult.

Last time I tried to submit a score correction that lowered it, it didn’t let me, so I had to e-mail them.

It gets tiring, yes, but it’s still possible to have fun in these odds. I’m not saying everyone should be able to have fun, but I think we’re both speaking for some core part of Maguuma that will have fun even in the Sea of Sorrows 2.0 odds. It’s where part of our culture developed with Ramalot, Alamo, and so on. The key is that you have to have fun doing these types of things with other people and keep your morale up when you’re busting zergs at your door, or it will just end up being a very “meh” experience.

I have not checked out our Oceanic population recently but it wasn’t similar to DB last time I checked

Dunno about set times. One of our mesmers usually works at night so it may not even work out. I have no idea what I’m talking about!! But I’m guessing people will be around dueling almost all day.

When your side doesn’t take anything you can just run around and harrass folks all day, been a nice change from our normal defense stuff. Almost feels dirty to say it.. but i see what Magumamemumama sees in this roaming thing.

Funny you should mention this…it’s the reason those Guilds left their Servers, but because THEY did it…and not you…they’re bad people. You people all make me laugh. Judgemental hypocrisy is at it’s finest on an MMO where everyone got where they are by people transferring, only to result in those same people complaining when others move up via transfers. Name a Server that hasn’t gotten Transfers, just try.

There is no hypocrisy. His point isn’t that all people who transfer are evil, he is just upset about more than minor tier imbalance. If you seriously can’t understand why people might be unhappy with that, then I guess there’s nothing left to discuss.

And they(not WM…WM had it’s reasons to go to Kaineng, including a long history with us.) sent scouts to a NUMBER of different places. I don’t really care what you do/do not “buy”…There were Scouts for these Guilds on other Servers, but the final choice they made was Kaineng, because when they got here all they had was support. They chose Kaineng because it was the place they felt welcome and at home…What else matters?

So, first you say it’s because “there was no room” but now it’s because they felt all warm and fuzzy inside? Look, I really don’t care what their motivation is. Kaineng hasn’t faced Maguuma so I don’t really know how much it got bandwagoned. All I know is that this has happened before and it was spectacularly dramatic and any WvW centric guild that expected to pile onto a T8 server and not get QQ and QQ about the QQ has been living under a rock. And if they knew that and didn’t care, that’s fine by me, but they should admit to it. Everyone is playing this game to have fun and that’s all it is, only this time it’s at the expense of many other people.

There are a lot of servers between T2 and T8. I don’t buy it.

Well, Kaineng is probably going to be at least our size, so yeah. If you’re on IoJ, it might be better for you in T5 but it’s hard to judge. At the very least it should be much less populated than we are, but it may still be pretty uneven.

This is a collection of some relatively even numbered fights against WM. Obviously, there is no way we could straight up compete with WM when they have their full complement.

AD/BSty/LARP/NoQQ is usually running in the 10man range during primetime. We top out around 15. So, I’m fairly confident we’ve never been beaten 10v40 over and over and over as the (fake?) leader of WM claims.

Favorite parts of the video:

Funny, on Maguuma my experience is quite the opposite…commanders on Mumble are yelling for people not to revive because it’s a waste of time. People do it anyway, of course…

Well, as we’ve mentioned more than once, Maguuma has the best rank and file (PUGs) that we’ve encountered so far. We will be pulling for Mag when you run into Kaineng.

I’m pretty sure that Mag will beat Kaineng in traditional open field fights. I’m not sure how Mag will do against the 40man mobile zergballs that abuse culling, the AoE cap code, and lag your client when they hit.

Haha, we’ll see…next week should whip us back into shape. We’ve gotten pretty lazy.

It’s the end of the week, obviously there will be less people playing in all maps. I wouldn’t consider yesterday’s IoJ representation to be accurate at all. Nor would I consider this case evidence against three-way fights being a bad solution—it’s evidence that ever having free transfers and then announcing paid transfers caused a mass panic and exodus.
