No matter how hard we try, even threads like this are interpreted as “recruitment threads”. That’s seriously pushing it. Have you seen our server forum? Hint: It’s dead. Literally not up at the time of this writing. And we don’t have time to get the server up and recruit guilds and bandwagoning players to it in time for a match that will actually be somewhat fair. In case you are still wondering, we still don’t want you on this server. So stop complaining that this is some sort of reverse psychology, it’s more like playing the cards we’ve been dealt.

There’s a couple of reasons why I personally don’t 1v1 in WvW;

• I generally play support characters;
• I probably lack the indiviual skill of someone that has learned their class in and out, and my reaction time is that of a slightly inebriated sloth.
• Most importantly though, the general attitude of some of the posters here that are confessed duelists seem to be one of derision. Why would I participate in an activity that would likely end with sledging, derision and humiliation? If dueling is so awesome, and you want more people to participate, then it could do with better PR.

I am NOT saying that anyone IS sledging/deriding at these duels; I am saying that this is the impression that I’ve gotten. I’m also not saying that this goes for the Maguuma population in general, or any other server.

Meh, even if you don’t duel, it can be fun to watch for awhile and just chat with random people from other teams. I don’t duel sometimes because of the same thing, I’ve been playing a support guardian a lot lately. IMO if it’s skill you’re worried about, you should give it a shot anyway. Don’t tell my guild, but I am not actually a superstar player, either. It’s still fun to practice. I don’t think the derision/humiliation happens as often as you think, certainly not in a public (forum thread) setting. Even the normal trash talkers are usually pretty polite when it comes to talking about fight club.

So.. if you’re east coast American you’re fine, and if you aren’t you can take it up the rear? I typically play 9pm-3am PST and I assure you that coverage determines if I get good fights or not. If its me and ten guys vs sixty, or me and sixty guys vs ten, I don’t get what I consider to be good fights. It’s great that you don’t want to participate in large scale fights, but many of us do, and were explicitly promised them as part of WvW. I enjoy 1v1 as much as the next guy but when it comes down to it they’re simple; effectively fighting on a server vs server level is much more complex and interesting, and I want to be part of that.

I am a west coast American that works full time and has no problem getting good fights, but those times are a bit closer to Oceanic times than most Americans play. So it kind of is a coverage issue for you. I find it weird that anyone would want to participate in such a lagfest, but fine. I lag in much smaller battles than that and everyone lags in three way Stonemist battles.

That is not what others of this ilk from Mag, basically your forum talking heads, have said in that past, that they flat out don’t care about ‘that PvDoor’ stuff. But in a good match killing a door is going to require killing a lot of players first. Best of both worlds.

You basically just said that there is no PvD in a good match, so I don’t really see how caring about PvD (which happens in a bad match such as this one) is relevant. And just because we don’t like it doesn’t mean we don’t do it when it’s necessary. I think you are confusing this guild (who I assumed you were talking about, since you replied to Pinko) with our roamers. There are very few roamers that 100% don’t care about objectives on Maguuma.

Kaineng on an individual basis is one of the least skilled servers we have gone up against. Maguuma is much better in terms of individual skill overall.

But, what Kaineng has that Maguuma doesn’t are multiple no-skill 30-40 mobile guild zergballs. And, they’ve picked up even more of this cheese in the last couple of days.

Kaineng got them because WM has clout. I guess we got ours mostly through natural bandwagons and a few guilds that really liked us.

In the specific instance being talked about, were there significant numbers of people from different teams to make this obvious? Going by the screen shot and previous comments in this thread about attendance I highly doubt it.

Perhaps not, since we haven’t had much attendance from IoJ or Yak’s Bend. I wasn’t there any of the times this happened. But I feel like a bunch of red names standing still in open field is obvious enough. By the way, the skill point is still reasonably far away from where fight club is, except for the spider queen one, which is always on green.

Sure, the maggots thing was just one example. And I understand not everyone on Ehmry Bay is like that. I respect a lot of people that are still there. But I also don’t like what I see on your forums (I’m a Maguuman and a goon, I’ve obviously been registered there for ages, hurr). Most of it isn’t even related to Maguuma. And you are right, though I had no intention of posting here originally to say anything, that a forum makes it easier to display your dirty laundry. It also makes me 50% happier that our forum was started very late and is still weak for now.

So no, we (I) factually do not wish we were like your server. The only characteristic of Ehmry Bay I currently envy is your population size and tier. I love how our public Mumble has evolved and there is very, very little drama around it. I would never ever trade it for your forum. Nor have I ever heard of a “core” guild on Maguuma leaving for greener pastures, yet. But this isn’t a Maguuma advertisement, so I’ll stop posting here.

It doesn’t take someone to be on your server to realize that someone from there coming here to say that you have no guild drama is either naive, not in the loop, or purposefully spreading misinformation.

As long as humans play this game there will be drama on any server because it’s human nature. Claiming otherwise lends you zero credibility.

Why does one need to reply to a non-factual post with factual statements? Jinks was obviously baiting a troll as he does in every post and he got one. Besides, half of the crap I hear come out of the mouths of Ehmry Bay players about Maguuma is exaggerated or just patently false, nevermind insulting. I’m pretty well connected on Maguuma and I don’t recall scaring off any guilds that covered crucial timezones. This is all besides the point though: the point is if someone on Ehmry makes a jab at Maguuma, it will be replied to. Deal with it.

Ya, right, because there are so many objectives behind the windmill that might erroneously lead people there. There’s one reason people go back there.

And would people go to arenas instead of wvw? Probably not. It’s already possible to duel in spvp, although not as easily as it will be after custom arenas. However, custom arenas are going to have to be purchased, you are going to be limited to spvp aesthetics based on rank, and limited to the amulet system and no food. Spvp and wvw are just not the same thing.

I dunno about him, but my best non-anecdotal thought is that YB and EB were roughly equal in score in T4 but YB is doing twice as well as EB. I was going to look at PPT on millenium but Kaineng’s graph is too flat to make any comparison.

It was about 15. They were mostly upleveled and ran down to the dueling area and got ran through pretty fast. They probably released before the image was taken.

My vote (and many others) would be WvW. It’s one of the best times to meet new people from other servers. It’s like the ability to resist attacking every red name builds character and respect for people on other servers. There are the technical reasons too (different stats in sPvP, food, limited armor choices), but zzz. If they can’t understand that something different is happening when several people from each team are standing right next to each other, I have nothing nice to say.

What’s with all this whining about losing? This was expected, and it’s going to happen next week when Yaks faces Kaineng. This is what happens you free transfers are closing. Servers that were in T4/T5 receive a huge influx of players, which pushes the server to possibly T2 status. They’re in the wrong tier.

It’ll take several weeks to fix this. If you don’t want it, go join a T1 server that rolls over everyone else but has 5 hour queues.

Actually, Maguuma swelling to this size is totally unexpected. We did not openly recruit, and as much as people claim the thread we posted was “reverse psychology”, it really wasn’t. With respect to Kaineng, much whining will be had when people bandwagon onto a low tier server with the expressed purpose of bringing it to the top. The same thing happened with Sea of Sorrows 2.0. It is a silly goal which brings much boredom and annoyance to every server in between the tiers where the server starts and settles.

Most of your server does though that is why there are so many people there now. In tier 4 there is plenty of room for diversionary games, but up higher, every man is going to be needed. Transferring back down might be the honorable thing to do.

I 100% guarantee you that we will not stop doing what we do, including placing flame rams in the most idiotic places, no matter how high we go. If the people transferring to our server don’t like it, they can go elsewhere. This is our home.
