I was replying to Guardians point that our “skills was being drowned out by our numbers.” Just wanted to point out the irony of that comment when you guys were in T4.
I believe the last match wasn’t much demonstration of our skill. The numbers advantage we had was pretty diminished by the end of the weekend, but the morale damage was already done on reset. There is another key point that you’re missing, which is that we fought Yak’s Bend and Ehmry Bay multiple times before we got our idiotically large numbers advantage. I don’t know about Yak’s Bend, but I think for Ehmry Bay there is a decent respect for skill between the servers that you might find if you can get past all of the hate love. I’m still convinced that we had equal footing to Yak’s Bend if not counting Ehmry Bay, and that Yak’s Bend usually won because the other two servers spent all of their time focusing each other, but that’s open for interpretation. I don’t think there is any irony in pointing out that a server with overwhelming population advantage doesn’t have much chance to demonstrate skill, but that’s my opinion.
As I said, that’s from T4…..We barely have any queues as well, but that doesn’t really matter to you guys. We’re as overpopulated to you guys, as you were in T4 eh?

Now going back to the point about Maguuma zergs consisting of multiple tags and the whole argument about second-class citizens or militia vs guilds etc / training up the militia that the Pyro guy bought up earlier. TC experienced commanders and guilds invest a lot into increasing the knowledge of our militia and our regulars, there is no denying that.
However, if you feel that 20 people from various guilds not on the same VOIP, not understanding each others class compositions, party compositions, each others rotations, having chemistry, having pre-set tactical maneuvers for various scenarios and many many other elements that go into determining successful open-world combat then you seriously must have very low standards for open world success.
Get those 20 people into the same VOIP channel under a good leader and you can accomplish a lot but if you honestly strive to be one of the best at open-world combat it requires a lot of theorycrafting, a lot of practice sessions and a lot of chemistry building which can only be achieved within guild groups. So yes, you sir a mistaken there is a difference between militia and guilds.
To date, I haven’t seen a single guild that our “militia” can’t handle, honestly. As long as we have a good commander and we have a few fights to figure you out, we’re able to go head to head with any organized guild. BT completely steamrolled us the first time we fought FA in recent history for a few times, but we figured them out and could go head to head with them and win a respectable amount of times. Ask them yourself, they like fighting our zergs and it’s pretty much never a single guild. The same goes for GODS, RET, and every other large raiding guild from FA (though some of these guilds will deny it).
The sole benefit I see of having more organized guilds is just being able to summon groups of a sufficient size more flexibly rather than hoping we have a good commander at most points in time. Everything else takes a lot of effort and isn’t worth it to most of us. If you feel that makes you superior to us, then oh well. I suppose it’s entirely possible that I’ve missed out on your guilds owning us all in the face because I’ve been playing less and spent most of my time on Maguuma, but I haven’t heard from any others that they were super impressed by any particular guild, either. Sorry if that hurts your feelings, I guess.
I thought it’d be fun to come to tier 3 and play around in first for a while but this is not what I had in mind. There’s no longer any challenge in roaming when our 5-10 man group can take on 20+ :/
I reeeeally want BG, SoR, or Kaineng back in the mix. It’s really lame when the maps are solid green and the only way to get fights is to hang out near spawns.
That’s what happens when a server largely outnumbers the other two, like what happened with us in T4 last week. I haven’t seen any reasonably small TC groups (definitely haven’t seen a 5-10 man) on our borderlands when I’ve been playing and I’m sad I won’t see yours because I can’t play for the rest of the match. I’d love to see a 2-4:1 ratio fight won by you guys. The times I’ve been impressed by TC weren’t from winning uneven fights but doing some pretty good portal bombs and demolishing us. The best was when we were trying to retake our NW tower and I was scouting for TC from the garrison, then looked away for a bit, and then we all died. Oops.
Not only that but Maguuma got trolls that talk smack, be disruptive and intimidating to newcomers and newbies. Good luck getting people encouraged to keep coming out with that kind of attitude.
People making jokes in a videogame or explaining to a random new commander who decides to step into wvw for the first time what they could have done better don’t seem all that terrible to me. I don’t know what specifically you’re referring to, though.
A lot of people I rarely see in-game seem to have complaints about their own server. (Used to see you a lot Ninein, but it’s been quite a while).
“People making jokes” is like the polar opposite of reality. I have not seen these same trolls trying to explain anything. It’s either “bad commander you suck” or “get off our server you suck” kind of thing.
I literally have not seen this bad commander you suck" or “get off our server you suck” kind of thing for weeks. On Saturday when a newly transferred commander tried to take the reigns, mumble was nothing but a teaching class and telling him and other people what they did wrong and why. No one said he sucked (which he did) or the people who made blatant mistakes (like queuing an upgrade for east when we don’t own camps, have no supply, and still have a large number of enemies on the map, ultimately, that mistake cost us the keep), but we corrected them and moved on.
Well I’m glad there are helpfull people on Maguuma still. But this wasn’t always the case when I played up until a week ago. Anyways, just wanted to point out other possible contributing factor to fewer people in WvW.
I’ve always agreed with you that I don’t think people need to be so offensive, but the frequency at which you bring this up does not seem to me to be proportional to the size of this particular problem. Just a thought.
We do lose a lot of fairweathers in T3, yes. We had some huge morale issues on Friday for various reasons that you don’t need to know about. If that means you keep thinking we’re doing it on purpose then oh well.
So just a thought I was having, if Mag is so convinced they are amazing I’d like to see at least 1 video of them wiping groups instead of them just talking. (I’d hope one person would at least be able to) I know we have a few in TV who are going to start recording all of our stuff mostly for our own benefit but all this “We wiped you X times and you never wiped us” talk just seems silly from what I’ve experienced so far seeing as I had 500+ kills on Saturday on an upleveled guardian with no elite and I’m already starting his 2nd stack of badges at level 29 I’m just tossing this up here in a hope to see some video’s by Mag and DB since it’s always nice to see the opposite side of the field yours truly a humble TC player.
This “video or it didn’t happen” is strangely reminiscent of one of our guilds who called everyone who claimed to wipe them liars and asked for video proof.
I’d like to believe those posts are a masterful troll and all the spelling/grammar mistakes are part of it, but after talking to him in game and seeing him dying repeatedly, I just can’t.

No. What happens is the trolls get under some folks skin and it winds up making their entire server a target. Given a choice of targeting a friendly server or targeting one that has people saying nasty things, it follows the latter would be more appealing. It’s human nature.
What happens on the forums does indeed translate in game.
I know a few of our folks were quite motivated after reading some of the posts in this thread, but perhaps that’s the point of the trolling — to get the fights going after them. There’s one fellow on (not to be named T1 server) that does this deliberately because he wants an entire server coming after his guild. He thinks it makes the fights better. That’s his prerogative, as it is anyone’s choice. But it winds up making the whole server deal with the fallout.
You’re missing the context here that Bunzy was one of the trash talking trolls against other servers for a long time until we made fun of him enough that he started hating our server and started trash talking us instead. I for one do not care about any 2v1 in terms of servers, and even if it was just TC focusing on us the player ratio basically is 2v1 anyway.

I don’t think so, and even if it did, these people should have been overjoyed to come back to T3. Where were they? By the way I must have missed these commanders telling people not to taking stuff even though I WvW every night :\ I must have also missed out on my guild ever using any of their icons.

We just got most of our guild (6 people) to go take NE tower on our map. By the time we brought supply back there were about 40 TC on our door and maybe around 20 Mag on the map altogether. Let me know what to do there because you sound like a pretty brilliant tactician.

When he says there were 20 Mag on the map, what he means there were 5 vs 40 and the other 15 elsewhere. We downed a buttload of you but those odds just don’t win. Let us know if you have more brilliant ideas, though.

My favorite TC trick was still way back in the beginning when someone was using a yak tonic and walking around north supply. I was all “wat” and started attacking it and then a bunch of TC came out of nowhere and did butt stuff.
You TC guys make me smile! Don’t worry too much about the Mag forum warriors. They’re the grumpiest bunch I have encountered so far. Maybe you guys can rub off on them.

Oh, it’s fairly well established at this point that every server’s players are more skilled than TC’s. We’re really horrible, what with our feng shui siege placement techniques, our ‘all golem defense’ strategies, and building our skill combinations around color coordination in order to get the prettiest visual effects.
Honestly, we’re just dreadful.
So, don’t worry, you can’t possibly lose against us. ‘Cuz that would mean you’re even worse. And that just can’t be possible.
