Yeah, what is it this week? Patch week? Tues/Wed/Thurs can’t you guys at Anet test your patches/builds on your PC’s you have at work before you release them? And please don’t tell me you did and everything ran fine because that is plain BS. All I ask is before you release a patch like this one is to test it more. I mean there is no rush, so please take your time. This has been a real buggy pain in the butt mess.

Each patch released on Wed and Thu were about fixes for issues brought on Tue. If these patches didn’t fix anything then yeah one could say they aren’t testing. But these patches *did* fix a few issues and others are still being fixed. It seems everything I just said before was ignored... oh well.. whatever. * shrugs*

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a client crash.
  • Fixed an issue that caused player voice to play on the incorrect character.
  • Increased the performance of the camera’s collision sensitivity.
  • Updated condition damage. Previously, a condition that had a fractional remainder of time after it dealt damage would not inflict the rest of its damage. For example, a 1.5-second burn would deal 1 second of burning damage, then fail to inflict the remaining 0.5 seconds of burning. Conditions will now deal this fractional damage either at the beginning or end of their duration, depending on when the next damage pulse would occur and their remaining duration.

Yelling won’t help anything. Also, they are already aware about it and I’m sure they are working on it, just things don’t get fixed with a “snap of fingers”. And don’t expect response for each issue, just look back and you see they hardly give responses about bugs, mainly when there’s too much. Better they spend time fixing them than answering in forums.

its not a small issue. its huge problem, affecting majority of players, randomly, regardless of their machines

Yes, I’m aware of the big mess it caused. I’m fully aware there are several people not being able to play. The thing is they would spend a lot of time answering to each and all posts even with a simple “we are aware about the issue”. There are a lot of duplicated posts about the same issues, as people doesn’t seem to care looking on even the page 1, and if they had to answer to each or the most of them it would be a reasonable time wasted. Also in fact, yes they have said they are aware about the issues, even though it was put in general terms instead detailing each one.

The fact is, they are aware and they are fixing. Things don’t get fixed in a flash, give them time. Also, if you seek for a “we’re aware and working on it”, just check patch notes, they are working on them.

Don’t loose faith guys, they are releasing fixes every day.

The point is that they rushed something to release without testing it properly, not that they are trying to fix it after the fact.

If I ever pushed code this poorly tested into a live system where I work, I would quickly find myself looking for a new job. Obviously my employer has higher standards of work.

That’s exactly it: rushed. When things are done in rushing something can go wrong and not be properly tested (it happens a lot at my work place :S). At times, the developer have to rush because of some pressure from high above or even from customers demanding stuff. I’m not saying it’s any dev’s fault or not, I mean that things can go wrong even after doing tests after tests. I also feel frustrated and upset when bugs affect my gameplay, but as a programmer myself I can see the other side too. The link I posted before can give some idea about how **** a dev/programmer’s life can be.

As far as I know I haven’t heard anything about players being banned, although one of the recent issues caused a thing that could be easily exploited. Not sure if it would be the case here, maybe it was merely a glitch. Tell them to contact Customer Support and they will get a proper response.

I’m just going to quote myself, since things here are similar to another one I replied to:

It seems some players doesn’t understand properly how a development cycle works. Automated testing doesn’t help so much either, they just test for specific stuff and unexpected stuff can happen when system goes live (something that the automated test didn’t expect). Public Test Servers doesn’t help so much either, they usually doesn’t have the enough load as live servers would have and the same as I said above could happen: unexpected stuff could happen in live servers and not in the test servers. As a programmer myself I have lost the count of how many times unexpected things happened on a system which worked pretty fine during test stages, also several were returning bugs which had been fixed but got broken due new changes. Also it’s hardly possible to test everything, at times a change can break things that aren’t in any way linked and then it wouldn’t even be imagined if it would need some testing.

C’mon guys, it’s just a game and devs are also human beings. At least these issues were acknowledged and they are working on them and stuff doesn’t happen with a snap of fingers. There is also a life out of the game :P Things will get sorted.

Oh I recalled another thing: after teleporting through WPs, so soon the loading screen is over the camera seems to be behind a wall for brief moment. It’s possible to see a wall over the whole screen for one sec before you see your char and the surrounding.

-Candy Corn Nodes appear around Plains of Ashford for 2 seconds then disappear.

Another bug to add to the list: When creating a new character, the title screen music continues playing on top of the cutscene.

Not only with character creation. The sound from Character Selection screen keeps playing while in loading screen, as well any map bg sound.

- Some textures are missing
- Loading screen doesn’t fill the screen (not important)
- PvP (Map: Battle of Kyhlo) – Archer position is wrong

You pointed in your pic that textures under that level area is missing. In fact, the whole skill bar is missing a texture, there’s not background texture there anymore.

Also, I have noted my sylvari seems to be glowing all time, not sure though but it felt as its armor was brighter (cultural armor).

When they delayed the patch, entitled players got mad about it.
When they released it, same players got mad about it.

It’s a game, it will always have bugs. Instead of complaining about these few days the game didn’t work for you, log in and have a very hard look at the numbers on /age.

Good point. There is life out of the game :P Things aren’t done with a snap of fingers (I wish it could :P) then give them time, s**** happens. Those who never made a mistake toss the first rock. :P

I sure am glad the waited a week to test this patch before pushing it live…..

Someone must have cracked under pressure:

Anet: “Are you ready with the kitten patch, we’ve been promising it for Tuesday”

Programmer: “We need more programmers, I can’t do all of this myself, fix all the bugs at the same time as programming HoT and the only new PvP map, while all your artists are smoking cigars designing costumes and hats for the Gem Store… And I don’t care about first person view anyway, it’s a gimmick, unless we did it properly with first person view weapons”

Anet: “We need the patch, now!!!!”

Programmer: “ok, ok, whatever it would require months anyway to fix the issues, here you go” (goes to look for a new job)

Gamers: “Yo your new patch has like a million bugs, can’t play, fps drop, won’t install, etc…”

Anet: “Can you fixed all the issues you didn’t have time to fix before the release, take your time.”

Programmer: Epic facepalm

Technically speaking I think I can see what went wrong and caused this mess. There are a few evidences of elements related to the expansion being introduced in this patch and I think something was misplaced somewhere. All game files are packed in a single file (GW2.dat) and then, theoretically, if one of those files is misplaced or something it can affect several other files, even ones not related between them. Possibly that may be the reason for having bugs spread everywhere and on the most unexpected places. Someone missed the trainee slipping in it some odd file :P

A note about items not stacking: I don’t know if it was the case but for me Black Lion Chests stacked properly last night. Maybe this one wasn’t affected by the issue then.

No, they didn’t resurrect an old post. A moderator mistakenly merged new guild issues into this post. It’s entirely possible that the root causes are related, but the threads should not have been merged. The recent posts are about issues with the 16 March patch, not with any patches from 2012-2014.

O.o really? lol, I didn’t see the date. The post was just a few ones above the last at that time then it seemed to be recent, maybe it was due mistaken merging yeah. Well, the advice I gave there still applies anyway, hehe.

Problems i noticed:

-Character creation audio continues when the cutscene after creation follows.

That happens with any loading screen too. I noticed that the sound from character selection screen keeps playing while map is loading.

Ok. Let’s be critically honest. Majority of the time, Anet pulls through with good updates on a consistent basis. Broken stuff gets fixed pretty quickly. But this update….it’s a first. Jeez Anet, what happened? Did you accidentally upload the wrong file or something?

There were so many bugs, glitches, and exploits, it was unlike you guys. An update this buggy – it’s something I’d expect from one of those ‘pay-to-win’ cashshop MMOs.

From my perspective, this is the first update where something got royally screwed up. But since it’s the first and they’ve done so many good stuff beforehand…it’s not that bad. (Or is it? Hall of Monuments, people?) don’t get me wrong, the camera upgrade is awesome, and I’m liking the stability updates (Yes, I like them).

Besides, what is there to do? It’s done, it’s done. Move on. Hey, people are only human. Instead of raging and strangling each other at the throats, time and effort would be better spent in reporting the bugs, amirite?

It could be related to other players triggering it but the sound is actually coming from your own char. Check their lips and you will see them moving.

Hey guys. Just an advice: please take some time to, at least, skimm threads and posts before posting. There have been too many posts about exactly the same things over and over… That’s not going to help anything but difficult keeping track of the bugs and making reading tiresome.
