Yeah, old issue along with several others.. targeting has been broken for ages: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Targeting-Still-Broken-Please-Fix-It/
Oh I recalled the culprit: in Fanboy’s Annoyance List there is an entry like ###backtotop (near the middle of the list possibly). Disable it and the page will look fine.
I have seen it happening before. I see you have Adblock there. Try to disable it for that page and see if something changes. A while back I noted it was blocking an element in the page and it caused content to vanish. I’ll check it further and come back with a filter for Adblock or something.
Edit: Ah here we go. Do you have Fanboys Annoyance List in your Adblock rules? I have seen it causing issues with GW2 blog pages on past. Disable that filter and see if anything changes.

Oh, glad you figured it out (even thought it wasn’t a “solution” for the issue). But yeah, from what I heard charrs have always had clipping issues, sadly enough.
*feels envy wanting to participate in it too* :P Anyway, a "thank you" thread is always nice to see. xD
Yeah, that’s really odd. There’s not any “map exit” at the location where it’s placed, otherwise it wouldn’t be so weird given the default behavior as I said before.
Uh oh, one more to the list… Could you post about it in this thread too: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mesmer-Bugs-33-Updated-October-22nd/ ?
A clearly noticeable gap indeed. Sorry, I don’t play much with my charr and I don’t even have that outfit, I can’t tell anything.
I must be blind, as I can’t see any black lines.
Bah, the vagaries of old age.
Compare the buildings at background on both pics, you can see them clearly (looks like the contours of the buildings on background).
That’s curious. The tracker (the thing on topmost right) says you must go to Silverwastes. In this case, all asura gates or map exits would show that green icon. In your case I would expect the green icon to be over the asura gate close there. Really odd. If you can, try to set journal to Personal Story and then back to Living Story and see if things get sorted.
Another thing, when out of Black Citadel where does the green star is at (not the swirl icon, that as I said the swirl icon will always be on map exits if you’re not in your destination map)? Based on your tracker it should be somewhere on Silverwastes.
I’m not going re-type the same FPS drop info everyone else has already stated.
However I want to chime in with the following. Im running a dual screen setup adn often run Firefox with gazzillion tabs open and stream video on the side screen. Before the patches I was doing this with out a glitch and a steady FPS. Now if I run a youtube clip on the side the FPS will take major dive. Closin FF will affect FPS in big (positive) way. This is not a performance issue on my rig and only started happening afte the latest set of patches.
Makes me wonder why running a web browser now would cause these FPS issues?
I actually just tested this and closing down FF with 5 tabs open (no video content) caused a 30 FPS rise.
Opening a site like Dulfy with Flash content (ads, banners etc) will cause a immediate 25-30 FPS drop. (Oh btw, running game in windowed mode)
Just feels like a darn too good of a accident to not be flash related. (wasn’t there a flash update just last week?) Sharing issues or crossing wires with anything you guys might be using?
They don’t use Flash in the game. Actually no one uses flash anymore. Unsecure and outdated.
Not totally true, several softwares and websites still use Flash. Anyway, even though the game doesn’t use Flash, any other application using it opened along with the game can cause FPS drop. I also have noted Firefox eating up some RAM and it surely affects FPS too, then I have always not ran both at the same time. I don’t mean that this is the issue everyone else is having, but it’s sure and truly that other softwares, either they have Flash or not, can yes affect game’s FPS.
If a site still uses Flash, their web designer is horrible. No need for flash anymore.
Then you are misinformed and this way you offend several web designers out there (for your information, even some of the ads used by Google and others are Flash based). There still a plenty of things that cannot be done without Flash, HTML 5 hasn’t evolved that far to completely trash out Flash. Anyway, I won’t go further on this to not derail this thread.
What are ads?
I mean advertisement. Several banners and advertisements on several websites out there still uses Flash (just confirmed, even dulfy.net has flash based ad banners). But well, that’s a different discussion then let’s not derail the thread.
(edited by shadow.6174)
We found the source of the problem. Frametime should be back to pre 3/10 patch times.
It was a bit harder to track since the issue only manifested itself on specific hardware configurations.
This thread was of great help to track the problem. Thanks!
Once again, We apologize for the inconvenience.
All the hard work is really appreciated and thank you (even though I wasn’t so affected). I would really think it would take longer given the complexity of this issue. Great work there and good job everyone who helped with reports.

my ping after patch in wvw before patch got 40-50 now got 900-1500
Ping issues doesn’t have to do with FPS drop being discussed in this thread, and I see you are having a good FPS there. Possibly your issue is connection related (1000ish is really bad) but if you feel it has something to do with the latest patch feel free to post in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled

This happens only to you.
Thank you for your expert opinion. From reading the past 11 pages I somehow thought the FPS drop issues (atleast partly) related to the UI were happeneing to others aswell. I thought it might be a good idea to point out a issue that has the same effect and started happening at the same time to maybe add another angle to the bug hunt.
Sorry
No worry, any addition is appreciated even if at first sight it seems to be note related. Also yeah, from my programming experience even the most unrelated thing can interfere or even be the cause of an issue, then nothing can be discarded until being really sure about what’s going on.

Yup, already known issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
Yup, that’s a workaround. Also, the issue is already known: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
I have a char who has glowing parts in hair and I could see them glow very clearly. No idea what’s the issue then.
Oh, and bring back Town Clothes & make outfits multiple pieces again!
(No, not those horrid tonics that only last 15 minutes.)
Yeah, I see no reason why it was made in tonics. Just useless crap taking space into inventory. Making it like an outfit would make a lot more sense (simply a default outfit that everyone would already get from start?).
To OP:
- Report a bug is messed up
- Sylvari glowing bug
As far as I know, bug report has been fixed (and reordered, with new categories). About sylvari glowing bug, I haven’t noted issues with it on past days, my sylvari was looking normal. Maybe that one also got fixed.
If you mean leaving a party, yes it’s an already known issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled

PLZ FIX THE BLOODTIDE COAST SKILL POINT IT’S VERY ANOYING
YES PLEASE FIX IT.. I WANT MY MAP COMPLETION!!!!!!!!!!!
Yelling isn’t going to help fixing it. They are aware and are working on it. Things doesn’t get fixed with a snap of fingers. Annoying, I know, but let’s be patient and things will get sorted.
Just be patient, they are still working on the issue.
As an actual new player I feel exactly the opposite. I am loving the game and thought the new player experience has generally been good and positive.
I think usually for a new player the system doesn’t seem that bad.
Because new players have barely any idea what traits are, or how useful/important they are to the build of their classes.
How can you miss it if you don’t even know what you are missing?
Yup, that’s why I’m curious about how would be their opinion if they heard how it was before. To make a proper judgment if it’s a good change or not a new player would need to know how it was before at least, even if they hadn’t any chance to feel it themselves.
Usually a new player would compare it with other games out there or any other experience they had, then even the hated changes here could still be better than what they saw out there. Giving them chances to know how it was before would really help to evaluate how good or bad the changes were. The thing is: people adapt to things at first sight but it doesn’t mean what they got first was really the best way.
As an actual new player I feel exactly the opposite. I am loving the game and thought the new player experience has generally been good and positive.
Firstly, welcome to Guild Wars 2 and glad to hear you are enjoying the game. But honestly, have you learned about how the old system was, either by this thread, wiki or something? I’m just curious to know what a real new player’s opinion would be if they see both systems.
I think usually for a new player the system doesn’t seem that bad. After all, even the worst part of this game seems to be better than other games out there in some aspects. Also, could you tell what you liked in the new system? Just curious about new players opinions.
There is no software company that will ever have the resources to fix every bug or annoyance in their products. As Behellagh says, this means they have to prioritize. The usual practice is to look at
- scope (how many affected),
- severity (how much is someone affected),
- difficulty (how easy is it to figure out what’s wrong and fix it),
- opportunity (can this be fixed with other changes or fixes), importance (how much does it matter in the grand scheme of things),
- interoperability (how much does adjusting this affect other things), and
- luck (was it noticed sooner or later, was it described well, was there sufficient data to troubleshoot, is there a test environment set up suitable for replicating/confirming fixes, …)
It’s a lot like fixing potholes: everyone wants their town to fix the ones in front of their own house, but the city has to choose which to fix first. Then, before they fix the next set, there will be new ones appearing. As a result, pretty much most people are annoyed by potholes at some point, even if the city does a great job of fixing them.
This is a great post and it’s what I’ve tried to say many times. You have a list of things to do and you have but so much time and energy to do it. The stuff you can’t get to gets put off.
When I wrote, I had a list of things to write as long as my arm. I didn’t get to finish 80% of them. I’d have liked to, but I didn’t have the time or energy. It doesn’t mean I didn’t want to or mean to. I just never got to them, because there was always some job that actually made me money that had to be done first.
Yeah, unfortunately that how things work. Not doing something doesn’t mean not wanting to do, just there haven’t been chances or resources to do such thing.
“D…m trainee, you didn’t hide it well, now they have found it. You spoiled it” lol just teasing here. Yes, it’s already known issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled Also, the “mysterious” item seems to be related to the expansion.
Already known issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
Silly question but worth asking: have you checked the filters? Right next to the search bar at the top, click the little arrow. Uncheck like “Have materials”, etc (I can’t recall from top of my mind). Anyhow, play around with the filters and check if it will solve.
Maybe not related to the recent patch. Even before I was used to hear battle songs even when still waiting for Maw pre-events to spawn, lol. Then the issue may be around for a while now and then maybe the last patch made it somewhat worse. Anyhow, I haven’t noted it happening as you described then not sure.
Yup, already a known issue and being looked into: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
Already known issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
Bug #1 is already known: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch-Compiled
Keep going guys, one by one these “critters” are being squished :P
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed client crashes.
- Fixed server crashes.
- Fixed an issue that caused the warrior’s Fierce Shot skill to deal too much damage.
Ah ok, I think I didn’t see that it worked when clicking but no when using keys. Actually what I meant was that skills blinking isn’t the only signal of lagging, at times when lagging they don’t blink neither do anything else. It seems it’s not your case if you can use them through mouse clicking and not through keyboard. Does the same happen with skills? Like clicking on skill bar works while pressing their keystroke doesn’t?
No. They do not test their patches. Never have, probably never will.
The community is ok with that, as it was made apparent by all the posts in other threads.Instead of holding Anet to higher standards (they used to be rather good at this in GW1-times) we are holding celebrations for “quick fixes” to stuff that shouldn’t have been broken in the first place or should have been spotted by the non-existing QA department.
This. So much this.
Queue the white knights in 3… 2… 1…
Well, I could really give some explanation and stuff, but arguing with frustration involved never works… What I could say is: would it really make any sense releasing a thing without any test? It wouldn’t be more than “shooting their own foot”, I don’t think any of them love to hear hated complaints with no reason just for sake of wanting to hear it.
No problem
*hums to fill char count* :P
I have custom music set but only for Character Screen/Menu and at least I haven’t had any issues with it, except it keeps playing even during loading screen and only stops when map is fully loaded (it wasn’t used to happen before).
I don’t think it’s made with Flash and a rollback isn’t necessary. We have to wait, ANET already said that they are looking into the topic, just don’t let this die, we hope it will be fixed soon. Flash applications run in adobe platform, include an entire platform in a game that is already heavy would be an unacceptable idea
Yup, exactly. If they had used Flash for it things would be even worse. Just give them time, they are looking into it. Issues like these are hard to track and fix as it depends on each hardware out there, a fix might work for one but not for another. Also things don’t get fixed in a “snap of fingers”.
Aww did they make it better? /sadliness
Well it was fun while it lasted
What? Is it finally fixed?
Yup:
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue that caused player voice to play on the incorrect character.
i don’t have this issue so i can’t test it .. is someone can check if disabling hardware acceleration in Flash Player can fix it ? i believe the UI /menu is made with flash ..
No, I don’t think UI/menu is made with flash. There wouldn’t have any reason for making that this way. Programming a UI into your own software is way easier than using an external resource for that UI. If it would be the case, game requirements should state that Flash is required to run the game.
Not sure if it’s the case but at times even a lag caused by connection can make skills don’t even blink, it would just do nothing. The same would apply to interacting with stuff and then all suddenly all the commands would come at once. What I mean is that skills blinking isn’t the only signal of lag, at times they can simply do nothing due lag.
