elementalist, imo, would look really clunky when shooting a rifle, pistol on the other hand… I’d love to see that :P.
I know the range would be better on rifle but p/p allows for us to choose different offhands and things like that for a bit more diversity, and instead of 900 range, they could just make it 1000 range and have minor trait like an engi: reduce cd, longer range (1200), and piercing shots
btw, crazed ivy should inflict 5 torment as well, and iceball should inflict chill for 5 seconds

So, 2 handed weapons have double the stats of 1 handed weapons to make up for the fact that you only have 1 weapon… Well, Giver stats for 2 handed weapons still only give 10% condi duration. Shouldn’t it be 20%? Is this a bug?

Just wondering. When we shoot our Longbow, our arrows miss if the other person strafes left and right, so why is this a Grandmaster Trait and not a bug fix? Are our projectiles supposed to miss even while they are in range? Even then, why is it a Grandmaster Trait at all? It literally fixes an exploit but we have to trait it for it to work correctly? If they really wanted to make a trait out of it, why not merge it with Piercing Arrows, leave it in the Master Tier, and make a new Grandmaster Trait? Something like:

So, Strider’s Defense is not that bad, but its kind of underwhelming for a Grandmaster Trait. 15% chance to destroy projectiles while executing a melee attack? While I can understand possible use in WvW with let’s say, a greatsword while zerging, for a 1v1, it’s pretty much useless. Any ranged person will (try) not to stay in range of your melee attacks, so you will be swinging at empty air while they dps you down with a useless (in my opinion) trait. So, change its function to something like:

While wielding bows, move the same speed in every direction as we do when running forwards.
So moving backwards would be the same speed as running forwards, same with strafing left and right. This would allow us to kite a lot easier and more effectively than we used to.

rangers have OP condi removal if u use all of them, 3 from EB every 10 sec, 6-8 from SotF every 30 or so seconds, 1 from SoR, 2 from sigils of generosity and purity every 9-10 seconds, and healing spring is overkill… but that’s the most out of any class I believe (except for ele probably)

That Scary Ranger
- (near permanent cripple uptime on your target, moment of clarity to extend fear durations from runes by a lot, combined with drakehound and wolf, you will be a pain to fight…however, the main difference with this version is that there is a lot less “passive” cripple application and slightly longer cooldowns on your pets, and slightly lower healing power)

near to permanent cripples, knockdowns, immobilizes, fears, etc. etc.
20k health, 2.6k armor, 1.3k condi dmg (1.5k with stacks), 105% condi duration, 25% movement speed, and 2 disengages (lightning reflexes and sword 2 (if used again, its another disengage/engage))
you can use spiders to achieve near 5 second immobilizes (as well as 10+ seconds of cripple if you are using the crippling version)
drakehound and wolf can immobilize/fear for 3 seconds on f2 (as well as cripple for 10+ seconds each if you are using the crippling version)
if you are using the scary version, you also have a chance to proc an 8 second fear from the runes, with which you have somewhat large window to pewpew your target in the back for more bleeds

haha, not bad, but tbh, its kind of unrealistic to have full ascended and infusions on every slot… lol, unless ur rich, go for it, but here’s a build that might be better for u
a LOT of condi duration, slightly lower stats, a ton of condi clear, more bleeds from the extra sharpening stone, and more healing (I don’t like healing spring cuz it forces u to stay near it for condi to be removed, the regen isn’t that big of a deal, and 4-5k initial healing isn’t great with the health pool u have, so if u have the condi clear, troll unguent is a lot better imo)
you can swap out some things like the sigils of malice for sigils of agony, or the signet of renewal for signet of the hunt if u feel u have enough condi clear, but w/e works for u lol

Most of these are very OP lol…
1. practically immune to conditions when combined with cleansing ire.
2. they just nerfed healing signet because it was healing for too much per second, so now you want to give them even more passive healing every time they swap weapons?
3. weapon swap is 5 second cd. u want to make blind immunity last 3 seconds? looooool. thief QQ inc.
4. OP with new defense trait, literally, this makes wars have “perma stability” where they can break stun and gain stability, as well as up to 1000 toughness every 5 seconds?
5. anet just nerfed 15 point minor trait in strength to give only 15% endurance instead of 15 endurance to lower the amount of dodges people have access to, i mean, it sounds ok, but its basically reverting the nerf. this would enable wars to have an extra dodge every 10 seconds as long as they swapped weapons
6. OP. even on 10 second cd, read #4

Lol, both gameplays are bad. Sorry, I’m not trying to be mean or anything but the thief obviously does not know how to play as he literally burned to death…
He rarely dodged, couldn’t interrupt your heal or churning earth, etc. etc.
Also, you spent half the video jumping around spamming drake’s breath in fire attunement and swapping to earth to use earthquake and churning earth
Half of your attacks missed because you decided not to dodge too and got hit with every blind he threw at you…
IF you had played with a little more… what’s the word, flair, by swapping attunements more often and not relying on full dire armor to get you by, he would’ve dropped 10x quicker than he did
Or, it could be that I’ve got it wrong and you are trying to show how tanky you are with dire gear. If its that, then great job :]

Why are we rewarded 10-50 silver for winning/losing hotjoins/solo ques/team ques?
Shouldn’t it be 1-2 gold for a win from a team que?
It takes between 5-15 minutes to battle it out in a tournament only to be rewarded half a gold if you won
And winning (usually) requires a good amount of effort and skill.
So why is it that people who speedrun cof p1 easily in 5-6 minutes get 1+ gold?

heh, ur going in the wrong direction… :/ i don’t know how to explain it any better, other than what ppl have said so far, there are bosses that will 1 shot u, it doesn’t matter if ur full soldiers, u will still die in the same time as full zerk, but its better to get as much dmg as u can in before u do, but as with most things in this game, the bosses are predictable, and so are the mobs, so instead of building tanky and being able to absorb 1-2 more hits before dying, u can go zerk, learn the patterns, and not get hit by anything at all

nahh, stick with the one I gave u, u will only have about 3-5 boons on u (5 is stretching it), so that will only be a 3-5% dmg increase, its barely noticeable, with mine, its about a 10-15% dmg increase with only a 1k loss in health and around 100-200 armor, not noticeable at all

getting new stats for ur weapons will only got about 4-6g, though lb is not good for dungeons, burning won’t tick that much cuz u got no condi damage, and arcing arrow isn’t rlly spammable, so gs is the way u wanna go

I’m sure there have been many threads on this subject. But until ANeT actually addresses the issue it needs to be brought back.
ANeT, please give the ranger class boost that it needs and changes that make us DESIRED in WvW and GvG. I heard yet again in TS – “I don’t allow rangers in my guild.” And this is a wide-spread attitude among WvW/GvG oriented guilds. You have allowed an entire class to become ostracized. Every update you do you have made us more and more irrelevant.
Being relegated to a roamer class is like being a second-class citizen.
Basically:
- Rangers need a big damage output boost. We’re talking 25% plus at least. We need to be feared, especially at range. Right now we are worse than a standard arrow cart.
- We need more actual AoE attacks.(Not traps)
- Many of our traits need to be condensed or natural to the class. Being able to always run at 25% without having to use a signet should be a given for example.
- Our pet, to be viable, needs to hit like a Mac Truck and be survivable. Right now a pet dies like an ambient creature.
- Other classes need to have certain abilities removed that should be exclusive to he ranger class or to other classes. Like the elementalist being able to heal like there is no tomorrow(and at range at that). And warrior horns are just ridiculous and recharge WAY TOO FAST. Ours takes 30 seconds in comparison.
- We need to be able to detect stealthed objects and target them. We are one with the land, or so I’m told, so if something is out of the ordinary we should know it. “Look at those tracks on the ground being made by nothing we can see.” “Oh, it’s just the wind, ignore it. No body could possibly be using stealth around here.”Anyway, please do something meaningful. You have allowed rangers to be alienated in a social game. That means, customers are being alienated, BTW.

we should be able to hit 1-3k AA on lb at full range (non-crit) without being full zerk (in a power build, maybe change eagle eye to 15% damage increase instead of 5%).
remove tail wind in skirmishing and replace with permanent 25% movement speed
signet of the hunt should be replaced with 180 power passive, 15% more damage on next 5 attacks as the active
warhorn 5 needs to be on a 20 second cooldown, 16 if traited (like a warrior)
new skirmishing grandmaster trait: gain a boon every 15 seconds for 4 seconds that allows us to see and target stealthed enemies (or make signet of the hunt active apply this boon for 5 seconds)
and barrage should be able to be cast while moving and hit every target in its aoe, not just 5

ehh, not the best thief gameplay ive seen, like Carpboy said, u take a bit long to make decisions, u should always target before u backstab to avoid hitting something else by mistake, u might do better with d/p because u did end up missing a lot of backstabs, but no one reacted… at all
overall, your opponents were tbh, very bad, when u stealthed, they just stood there, when the warrior hit u with his earthshaker and u stealthed, he stopped attacking, same with everyone else.
either they were all pre-occupied with something else (like the guards) or half-afk on gw2… or they’ve never seen a thief before… or they don’t know how stealth works… or its their first time in pvp… or it could be a multitude of other things
regardless, if it were me, id be proud I killed 7 people, even if they were all noobs, haha

Apparently, you can’t take any criticism whatsoever, u have 10 people all telling you what is best, or what you should change, and NOPE! Their wrong because they don’t agree with u. Like Delay said, u asked for advice and we gave it, but u chose to argue. What was the point in asking anyways if u weren’t gonna listen to any of it? So, stick with ur valk, keep thinking ur helping the parties with ur survivability and group support mechanisms u don’t have, and play with as many groups as u can take before u get kicked enough times that u finally understand what everyone in this thread was saying.
