it’d be better if they made the pet able to “jump”, like go up and down surfaces we can (basically like running up and down the crates when ordered/when i go up them)
also, i play spirit in tpvp just cuz that’s what most rangers run, but I’ve also found that trap works surprisingly well too
here’s the build i use, ive gotten many ppl asking what it was so here it is… lol:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQRAsf3YjEq0ya5K2rQ1agDhqdJ8rjA7A4BigXFbGXlStK-TJhHwAPLDQ4kAA4JAAa/BA
u can swap a battle sigil out for corruption, but i found that battle is more consistent overall, not only because you have to take the time to kill people (with that weaponset), but also because if you die, you lose the bonus… ive found that with that build, i can maintain 9-12 stacks of might up consistently in a fight, doing the math, its only a slight dps loss than 6-9 stacks of might with 25 stacks of corruption
also, i personally like lynx pet, but snow leopard works well too, and the f2 according to the tooltip hits a LOT harder

Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
well, I already run a zerk lb build in wvw, as well as a power lb build, both work fine for me. i’m a low rank in wvw cuz I spvp too much lol, and only 50 in spvp cuz I duel too much… regardless, when I see ppl hitting for 5k, its with full bloodlust stacks, guard stacks, etc. etc. also, its not like min/maxing either. ranger runes when hitting from behind already grants a 17% increase in damage, combined from opening strike, u get 22% increase, eagle eye brings it to 27%, and so on.
without guard stacks, I was able to hit a 5k long range shot on a warrior, and a 8k on a thief the other day, i was using force and rage at the time, but ive hit even higher using fire and air (6-9k)
also, I consider myself pretty good with ranger as ive been playing since release and all I do is pretty much pvp (not fighting noobs either), but I can give u a few builds that are fun to mess around with, I find that even if u are fighting experienced players, if u know what u are doing on zerk, they’ll still melt. a good combo is muddy terrain into point blank shot if u feel they are closing the distance too fast.

Hey guys,
Would anyone happen to have any videos of your rangers using longbow in WvW? I’m looking for roaming/dueling videos, but I also love watching full zerk ranger hit 5k from afar with the auto attack. If you do, post here please!
Your friendly neighborhood ranger,
S H A D O W F A L L
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
why frailty? lol, remorseless trait and fire and air sigils…
read the wind is nice and all but its not needed, a lot of specs that use lb don’t have RtW and do just fine
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
good idea, I like it.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I don’t understand when people say power ranger (with longbow) is ineffective and bad for roaming… I don’t even use a greatsword as my secondary and I can disengage/take on more than 1 or 2 enemies at once (depending on skill level)
while builds like 0/0/6/6/2 might be better off in terms of overall survivability, perma swiftness, regen, etc. etc., power builds’ effectiveness for rangers comes down to skill, not passive regeneration
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
LOL. ok, hold on.
25 stacks of bloodlust is 250 power
does your 700 damage auto attack with longbow all of a sudden go up to 1500 with full stacks? no. it would go up to less than 800 (like around 785) which is only an 85-ish damage increase
so 350 more power should realistically only add about 100-120 more damage to your pet’s attacks… what ur seeing makes sense, there shouldn’t be a “drastic increase in damage” like you are expecting.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
condi in zergs is a bad idea (especially on ranger), use the weapon chest for a roaming build instead
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
its the ascended helm.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
how about the lb shoots faster the closer ur target is to you… balance it so the speed of the shots balances out with the damage from max range, keep the damage reduction tho
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
ur missing signet of renewal.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Rangers in WvW organized group play. Power Ranger 1v2+.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
well, tormented runner doesn’t make sense, technically you could apply torment to a whole zerg if you tabtabtabtabtabtabtabtabtab…
and the others are very minor buffs to bad traits that wouldn’t actually solve problems imo… lol but I mean, its good to know that people are trying
if u wanna check my thread out, I think its on the second page of the ranger forums.

^ seriously, can we get this fixed already, its like my only day to play out of the month and I would honestly like to be able to load up my game…
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
shortbow is one of the harder weapons to 1v1 mesmers with, I have to admit :P
the 3 skill does not evade for a long enough distance to get out of the range of like anything, like a warrior’s greatsword for example, if the warrior is moving forwards with swiftness while auto attacking and u use the 3 skill, as soon as the evade ends, he’ll still be able to hit you…
also, there aren’t any tracking/channeled skills for sb, all skills need a target so when a mesmer goes into stealth, lol… yeah.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
hah, not bad, I actually ran a very similar build
0/20/10/30/10
100% crit chance with full stacks
open with spider f2 immobilize, and cast muddy terrain right before it hits to make sure they can’t dodge the immobilize, swap pets, owl f2, (as its running over, this is the next part of the rotation), warhorn 5, warhorn 4, swap weapons, quickening zephyr, and 1111111111111111
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
nice job :]
ur on EU right?
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I wish ranger’s got a 30% dmg boost when our pet is on passive…
also, I don’t understand why cleansing ire isn’t at least a gm trait… but w/e, I main warrior and i’d hate it if that happened =P
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
so you could have 360 passive power if u equipped them both?
+250 from bloodlust
=610 additional power… I call OP
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
25 stacks of might, bloodlust, guard stacks, etc. etc. lich form can 1 shot with full zerk lol
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
haha, that was my thread
honestly, sb is ONLY meant for condi right now, and its not that good… try using it in a zerk build? lol, 900 per hit in full zerk…
anyways, the point of reverting it back to its old speed is to actually make us stronger at range, atm, most classes can close that 900 range in a single leap skill… and all of a sudden we’re forced to switch weapons to continue fighting. with the old speed, we’d be able to kill them from afar just as fast as a warrior can shield bash and eviscerate for all of your health (again, im talking about zerk)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
sorry for necroing, the thread is blank for me so I had to post to read it…
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
yeah, I was going to add that into my “Power to the Rangers!” thread once I have the time
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
whoa, sorry, I know ur in my guild and all but idk what im watching ;/
its just fast forwarding every fight until the stomp, and u didn’t even show the finisher after
also, its going waaaaay to fast to even try to pick out what’s happening
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
lmao, I was looking at the old revisions of Crossfire for the sb on gw2wiki and at one point, someone edited the range to “pathetic” LOL this was right after the 1200 range nerf… too funny… too funny
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
can we get shortbow reverted to its old speed?
maybe reduce the bleed duration but it would be rlly awesome to have the old speed back, it’d make our sb aa a lot stronger than it is now.
atm, its O.K. with zerker, but the old speed would make it a lot more viable on more damaging power specs
reduced bleed duration but higher attack speed would allow us to still maintain the same amount of bleeds (most of the time) and would pretty much only make power builds stronger with sb
heck, I want it double of its original speed… check out the video below and you’ll see what I mean…
here’s my favorite video EVER of it in action (it isn’t mine, and it is also pre-quickness nerf, so even if they brought the attack speed back, it wouldn’t be as fast as this… although it would be amazing to have again, it was like a machine gun! :] pewpewpew!)
its freakin great amirite or amirite?? =D
if they brought it back, we’d be able to melt people as fast as thieves and warriors with the shortbow
zergs would actually want rangers who could play sb zerk well cuz we’d be able to destroy backline with this
watch the video, I know they’re mostly uplevels, but watch as he drops like 4 of them within a few seconds… this is how rangers should be! I don’t know why it was changed in the first place, remember guys, “unparalleled archers”… this is pretty unparalleled to me :]
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
it still takes 5-6 seconds after hitting f2 cuz ur pet is trying to get in range… you’d be even more frustrated if u pressed f2, it used it immediately, and nothing happened because it was too far away
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Edit: Added Fast Hands to the Skirmishing traitline, added change to Wilderness Knowledge in the Wilderness Survival traitline, added the new utility “Familiar Terrain”, edited the change to Hunter’s Shot under Longbow, edited the change to Swoop under Greatsword, made a small correction to one of the descriptions in parenthesis for one of the changes to Call of the Wild under Warhorn, and removed the evade on Monarch’s Leap under Sword (cuz that was OP lol)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
actually, yes, for me, impressive is fighting either 1 very good/well known player, 2 competent ones, 3 braindead ones, or 4+ afk’s/uplevels lol
(not lb only btw haha)
or ill take a rlly cool montage of kills in cool ways, like maybe killing 5 ppl from max range with longbow as they’re running towards you
a cool burst/combo I’ve never thought of/seen before
basically, impressive is something that makes me go “wow O.O” or “d*mn, nice job broooo” =P
haha
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
rangers atm have the most condition removal in game I think…
this is the build if u never want to see another condition ever again:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNAV8YjUq0ya/Kesw1aABhaVA0uGGhWwdPcDfdJuyK-TVyCwAOUCC4ABgT9H7PBgU6Gku/gmLCQBzfHV+JIAsB-w
heck, u can even slot healing spring if u want, I just didn’t cuz it ties u down to one spot to actually get the condi clear, haha, u can even take any of the other two elites, both of them cleanse condis haha, but stability is more useful to me, and u already have a ton of condi clear with this build
this is basically like 20 condi clears every 20 seconds lol (or 1 condi every second… LOL), give or take
it also heals for a good amount… 7.6k heal every 20 seconds as well as 1 condi clear, or u could slot troll unguent as well…
lmao, even jumping off a cliff cleanses condi and gives fury… xD
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
what signet bug?
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
lol, I like it, good ideas with the stability steal and everything
make a video? it’d be nice to see in action
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
d*mn bro, ur names are intense +1 from me just for that =DDDDDDDD
and cool ideas too
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
axe can hit 6k on average for warrior on a cooldown of 7 seconds (if traited)
sb can hit for 4k repeatedly at point blank if exploded in mid air (and its pretty spammable too)
I mean, I kinda see what ur saying, if u wanted to bring it in line with warrior, make it a 3 second channel, each second, it shoots out 8 arrows that cripple and do a decent amount of damage with maybe a 10 second cooldown
would that be better?
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I have gear atm but it’s not what I really was intending. It’s not rlly tanky or damaging at all. It’s just… meh… so yeah. I’m working on a new set to play with.
And idk if it rlly makes a difference, but I play sPvP a lot, u can usually find me in dueling rooms when im bored or w/e
in game name is “S H A D O W F A L L” if u wanted to mail me or anything like that… lol
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
if u rlly wanted to be OP…
“Fury of the Wild”
Call every type of animal in the game to stampede over your enemies. No target cap. Functions like a necro’s golem charge. 10k damage per tick. 1800 range knockback. Applies 25 stacks of might to self and 25 stacks of vulnerability, confusion, weakness, cripple, and bleeding to anyone hit. 1800 range AoE.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
wow this sounds like fun haha, u should record it, and make hard-looking, “survival” characters to do it with
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I have no recording softwares/idea how to record yet. Though I made a thread a week or so ago about how I should/what I should get :P. So yeah, if I figure it all out, ill post a video, and im on Sea of Sorrows atm (in the process of getting gear), and I only have time to play on the weekends (I have finals lol) sooo…. yeah, but when that’s all over with, i’ll be more than happy to show u
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I think that will solve many problems of our pet being too squishy or not doing enough damage… now this will also solve the problems of our weapons since this can make our pet a lot better in fights, supplementing what we’re missing
with it, we can have access to tanky pets, group support pets, burst pets
like how in gw1 we could have like hearty (tankier) or dire (damaging) pets after spending a while training with them
again, getting the gear takes a bit of effort usually and this could count as the “training” part of it
regen ranger builds won’t be OP from this because their gear is condi oriented so their birds or dogs won’t all of a sudden be doing “huge” hits
zerker builds will benefit cuz now we would have a “burst” option without having to make any changes to our weapon skills like maul
defensive builds would benefit cuz now they can actually use “Protect Me” without having to worry too much about their pet dying
group support (healing oriented builds) will benefit because with full healing power, we can achieve 6k burst heals in a small aoe every 20 seconds with fern hound, though still not becoming OP since the pet will still pretty much do the same damage…
etc. etc.
What do u guys think? Any good?
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
that’s what im saying ^, lol, he thought he was god mode with stability…
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I just don’t understand how it takes them months to get another “balance” patch out. It takes them forever to get one out with minor changes, and they always end up breaking more than they fix lol. I think they are understaffed but that’s just my opinion.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
personally, I want the gw1 pets back (tiger, swan, etc. etc.), lunar wolf, phoenix, and fractal pets :P
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
yes and yes.
you can kite for days on ranger… and what ur asking really doesn’t make sense, u have stability? so what? lol, its not making u god mode or anything. and u do realize that I don’t need to cc u to win right? lol.
anyways, ur question was “How would you CC me if I have stability?” that is counter-intuitive because (if you play a ranger), you know we don’t have boon removal, sooo
though, there are different forms of cc, I assumed u were talking about things like stuns and knockbacks, I could also soft cc u (cripples, immobilizes, etc. etc.)
if ur a stun war, I have my own stability to kite with
condi, ill stealth, dodge, and reflect
and ur stupid if u pop every stance at the start of a fight lol, not too much I could do about that at the start, ill have to stealth and kite for a little until either the stability or zerker stance wears off
but its rlly not too hard lol
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
How would you CC me if I have stability? Never lost a 1v1 to a LB ranger while on my ranger. If one knows how to dodge, LB is terrible.
simple. I wouldn’t, I would stealth and kite till ur stability wears off… lol
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I don’t think so, ive been playing ranger since release and I don’t think u can lol… someone correct me if im wrong :P
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
lol. they won’t dodge rapid fire if u cast barrage on them :] 2 dodges to get out and u can pew pew away :P
and rapid fire is a great skill in 1v1, lb aa attacks so slow, most classes can either block/reflect/or dodge them
also, the dmg is constant at all ranges, unlike the aa, so its a pretty constant source of dmg (and the vulnerability helps too, lol)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
