Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
well, you said what weapons and pets he ran, what about heals? utility? elite?
1. could u tell if he had empathic bond?
2. cooldown on pet swap?
3. swiftness and/or fury when he swapped weapons?
4. any automatic sharpened edges that procced when u were at 75% health?
5. protection when he dodged?
6. regen when he reached 75% health?
7. how much regen uptime did he have?
8. vigor uptime?
9. piercing arrows?
10. cleansing poison/blind on dodge?
11. might application?
12. cleansing conditions and gaining fury on using a survival skill?
13. very fast moving arrows?
etc. etc.
give me something to work with here. I can figure out most people’s builds just by watching them play but I need something to look at, some details.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Playing successfully is one thing. And it already requires a lot of skill and effort to do so on this class (unless ur running full regen ranger ofc… that’s a pretty faceroll build)
While it is OK for ranger to be one of the harder classes to play and master, the reward you get for actually doing so should be higher than it is now.
Like u mentioned, engi and ele are two of the classes with higher skill floors, however, playing them well means you are more than successful. You are basically overpowered, as with any other class except for ranger.
They all have their faceroll cheese builds.
- Warrior has numerous builds
– Engi has condi overload/hybrid rifle (new meta)
– Ele has celestial d/d (I run it as well and did might stacking before Rune of Atrength buff so I knew how to play it well before most people)
– Guard has a few different ones
– Necro has minion/fearmancer
– Mesmer has PU/phantasm
– Thief has permastealth regen thieves/p-d condi
– Ranger has… nothing. I mean, you can call regen ranger OP if you want, which is kind of is, but that’s only one build. Don’t get me wrong, there are viable builds like trap, but other classes do condi better (with the exception of guard and ele), other classes do zerk better (all of them), and other classes have better ways to survive (again, all of them)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Whoa. Super swaggy looking necro that ive seen since my days on ehmry bay… :O
didn’t expect this type of suggestion come from u mate. haha, flurry is already very strong
it can stack over 20 bleeds on a target, as well as perma immobilize if traited.
it can be used to set up many hard hitting attacks as immobilize prevents dodge, and is a perfect complement to all the leaps and hard hitting burst the sword has.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Half the professions cannot remove boons.
Adrenaline is a massive bonus.
Warriors are the kings of condition removal thanks to Cleansing Ire.The devs were completely reaching when they created these fake weaknesses for warriors.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
It’s a fun playstyle, that’s for sure. I main a power ranger myself. Longbow (or Greatsword)/Sword-Axe
(its just sword and greatsword btw, no shortsword haha)
With a longbow + melee weapon set, you will find that it is actually better for your enemy to close range on you first before you swap to your melee set.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
well if you read through my close to 2200 posts you’d realize my “view” has changed a fair bit over time
There was a link to a “reivew” of arenanet as a company. Where several reviews was done by current and former employees. You should read up on it, it explained more then a few things and shed lights on some others.
However discussing such matters is for another time and place entirely.
Oh yes, i just noted, my post history is a “bit short”. Arena Net cuts of posts older then 18 months if not made by current or former “ArenaNet” eployees and or sticky topics/former sticky topics been “unsticky’d”.
My post history is missing about 4 1/2 months worth of posts.
Reivew? “Dunno what that is, but it sound really perverse.”
Oh, ok, well, that makes a ton of sense. Your views have changed since the start of the game. With that being said, I would assume you were actually complaining about rangers before they nerfed them? Got it.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
the moment you question yourself is the moment everything you do will go wrong.
This is how fights (small to large) start and continue because no one will back down.
I’m just going to go on a limb and say that your next post will detail that you will not back down and therefore this whole thing is pointless. So if you were, I said it for you.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
If they are so busy to release a balance patch every 6-7 months, they are very understaffed. There is no other way to put it.
A new set of hairs or faces every few months does not constitute/make up for the lack of permanent content in the game.

@Prysin
or dodges. you forgot to mention that.
Also, you seem to forget that a wolf’s fear is very telegraphed. Even more so, you seem to forget that a thief can dodge the fear.
I could say “Also…” twenty more times since half (more than half… hell, almost all) of your last post (in this thread… just had to make that clear) does not make sense, so I will do so. (just don’t make fun of me please)
so… here we go.
Also, Hornet Sting can be used as an evade.
Also, Monarch’s Leap can be used to get out of range of a backstab (with a “t” because that was very important).
Also, count the cooldown of the steal and be prepared to dodge (its fairly easy to figure out) if you really insist on counting the cooldown of every skill the thief has access to.
Also, there aren’t only 3 things that can save you from that combo (I just mentioned plenty more above.
Also, I feel like I should mention it so that you will stop mentioning it. The “1111” spam trick does not work at all while your target is in stealth…
Also, this is what we are/were trying to tell you this entire time but you seemed not to get that.
We must’ve missed a letter somewhere.
Get it?
LOL. I’m highlarryeeus (hilarious is the correct spelling Prysin, just felt like I should mention that in case you didn’t understand that either)

1 anticipate thief CnD, Steal, SR or blinding powder
2 have sword out and spam 111111111
3 use Quickening Zephyr or that pet swap trait (forgot name)
4 watch how you jump in the middle of nowhere and giving the thief the opportunity to backsab youFixed that, so many typos on your part
.
Wolf F2
Oh wait, that’s a pet function. Forgot you don’t use those. Well now you do. The more you know
EDIT:* a thief backsabbing me? Dunno what that is, but it sound really perverse*
LOL we have a grammar kitten here. You know what he means but you choose to correct him on grammar in order to make his post irrelevant. We all know what he tried to say so all you accomplished in your edit is to make is sound like you have nothing else to say and therefore decided to fix some grammar to add a little extra oomph to your argument.
Now, what HHR typed in the first bold makes sense. You told him to 111111 to track the thief in stealth because it actually works (LOL. “Le-meow!” the French cat exclaims) and he did. So, what happens next? Well, why don’t you “watch how you jump in the middle of nowhere and giving the thief the opportunity to backstab you”.
See what I did there? I fixed the word “backsab” because it was obviously too hard to read for you. WHOA! Look at that, now half your “argument” is gone with the press of a button.
Now does what he said make sense?
lol.
and lol again.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
1 anticipate thief CnD, Steal, SR or blinding powder
2 have sword out and spam 111111111
3 use Quickening Zephyr or that pet swap trait (forgot name)
4 watch how you jump after the thieves relative position with ease.
2. Sure. I’ll try that and then…
4. “What the kitten, how did I get halfway across the map and hit the thief twice while I keep spamming 1111111 hitting nothing but air, but hey, Prysin knows what he’s talking about so I should keep doing this while the thief /laugh(s) at me 300 units away.”
Did what I say make sense? -Crowd Cheers- whoooooooooo
lol.
the sarcasm is strong in me today.
lol again.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Combined with quickness, you can stick to a stealthed opponent with relative ease
What?
That makes no sense.
The ranger is the only class with access to inflict Revealed on an opponent. We also have channeled burst attacks which counter stealth, and pets have a pseudo-cast in each attack that let’s them follow an enemy just after they’ve stealthed. ANet’s pushing the ranger to be the class that puts thieves in their place. That much is clear already.
“Combined with quickness, you can stick to a stealthed opponent with relative ease”
What you just mentioned wasn’t even in the first quote. He was talking about using a sword with quickness to track a stealthed thief…
This makes no sense whatsoever. Especially the part where he mentioned that it was relatively easy to do so.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Hit him with the sword, see that you hit him, swap to maul.
I don’t give a good flying kitten if you use it or not, but that’s how you track a stealthed thief. This isn’t something that needs you to argue with people over.
Or you could just hit him with the Greatsword in the first place? Doing this doesn’t require a weapon swap…
Like I said, Maul isn’t very powerful on its own, and there are many ways to track a stealthed thief.
Rapid Fire and Sic ’Em are the easiest ones to use.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Nope, wrong. You can tell the instant you hit with the sword. Once you hit once, just maul him with the next attack.
Nope, wrong. Maul is on Greatsword smart one.
Stop trying to prove your point, it makes no sense.
You can tell the instant you hit with the Greatsword too… soooo…
Its not very powerful either… and Maul only does a lot of damage on zerk builds if u crit and have one or two big damage modifiers like Signet of the Hunt, Moment of Clarity, Signet of the Wild, a lot of might stacks, and/or some of the X% modifiers from traits.

Rangers have some of the worst AoE, melee or otherwise, in the game.
Our lack of any respectable AoE is half the reason we have no place in serious WvW guilds.
It amazes me that ANYONE thinks the CDI will bear any kind of fruit.
Asking for fixes to things they don’t think are broken is a waste of everyone’s time.
They’re in the everything is fine with the rangers mood.
They have been in that mood for a very, very long time now.
I was pretty underwhelmed by this entire thing TBH… Not so much because of what they said, but because of what they didnt say.
They think rangers should have the best single target ranged DPS.
They think we are already the best single target ranged DPS.
Them telling us what they think class should be doesn’t really mean anything unless they tell us how close they think they currently are to that ideal.
Thanks for typing that all up for me.

The fourth sentence says the class is hard and boring to play, thus it is bad.
It’s not bad in the sense that you seem to understand it.
LOL.
Your title is “The reason we are bad”.
You said the class is “bad” in the OP.
Sorry. I must’ve misunderstood that as with many others. Bad = Good in your dictionary amirite -click- or nawww
=P
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I like the current sword. Combined with quickness, you can stick to a stealthed opponent with relative ease, further pushing the ranger to the point of being the anti-thief.
What?
That makes no sense.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I said top tier warriors. I think you’re referring to the hotjoin noobs who have had the game for a week.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I used to defend warriors saying they’re not OP and telling ppl who said that to learn to dodge.
Well, that’s fine if u are extremely good at dodging, but even Vassangel gets hit every once and awhile.
Anyways, anyone who says warriors are completely not OP probably only plays a warrior.
Before u defend the class, hop on ranger and 1v1 a top tier warrior and see how u do. Since the f1 skills are so telegraphed anyways, you shouldn’t have a problem right?
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Sharpened Edges is no good. Ticks last 2 seconds and tick for less than 100 each. Out of everything else, I find Quick Draw to be the most helpful.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
@Wiseman
Too late… They already went over everything on Friday.

1. Its not an opinion or situational. Any player who’s not afk isn’t going to just stand there and let u attack them (assuming ur staying still as well), or, ur basically saying u just like standing at max range and pressing 111111 to kill someone.
Who doesn’t move in combat?
__________________________________________________________________
2. I find might irrelevant in most cases. Its most useful in hybrid builds/builds where u can have at least 20 stacks of might on you at all times because it adds both damage to your physical attacks as well as your condition damage.
10 stacks of might adds about 77 damage per auto with sword on that build. It also adds about 500 damage on rapid fire with that build, and 121 damage per auto attack with longbow with that build.
Let’s say 6 attacks with sword, .5 seconds each attack so 6 attacks = 3 seconds (same cooldown of air sigil), 77 * 6 = 462 damage. (Damage is even less with the other weapons due to longer cast times.)
In that same time, you could’ve just done 955 damage with the Sigil of Air. Lol.
What did u mean “if it hits”. The chance for the sigil to proc is 50% on a crit… It’s pretty high…
__________________________________________________________________
3. Like I said, 10 stacks of might adds about 500 damage to Rapid Fire with that build. Over the course of 4.5 seconds… Or, you could’ve just hit for 955 with just a Sigil of Air.
Might is nothing. It adds a minor 50-120 damage per attack with 10 stacks of might… That’s not DoT damage. Lol. A minor burst of 955 damage is still worth more than that bit, and that’s only taking into account the Sigil of Air. We still have a whole other sigil that does damage as well. A Sigil of Fire.
__________________________________________________________________
4. Companion’s Might is bad unless ur running max dps builds. It adds only 6-12 stacks of might to ur pet. 12 at most if ur just attacking a non-moving target who hasn’t dodged once. Its good when ur target is immobilized and u use Quickening Zephyr, Hunter’s Call, and Rapid Fire… But that’s full burst.
Pets Prowess is a good trait however. I use it on the last few builds I’ve run.
Imo, Primal Reflexes is a bit lacking. So at least that’s one thing we agree about.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]

well, some paragraphs might help
and some periods
and punctuation in general
…
what u typed was literally one gigantic run-on sentence with 50 commas
its kinda hard to read.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
from what I got from it, its bad if your target dies too fast because u won’t have the max amount of might stacks possible by the time he/she dies
lol.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I think some of the sentiments expressed on the livestream are being misinterpreted – that’s probably on us.
So, here’s a few notes on warrior:
Warrior:
Of the heavy classes, the Warrior is able to balance sustainability and damage. They bring high sustained damage and opponent control.
- Strengths:
- Sturdy body
- Able to apply physical or condition damage
- Sustained melee AoE DPS
- Melee crowd control
- Weaknesses:
- Little ability to deal with enemy boons
- Reliant on adrenaline to use many abilities
- Can become overwhelmed by conditions if their defenses expire
You would like to see the warrior have less access to mobility skills – not more. We don’t think warrior should have more mobility.
Our list of long-term balance goals is something we created independently of forum feedback, and honestly, we’re pretty happy with how closely your thoughts and our ideas coincided. Sorry for any confusion.
-Josh

Cleansing Ire makes building adrenaline a breeze. Also, only their f1 “abilities” rely on adrenaline. As well as being on a 7 second cooldown if traited (10 if not). There are only 3 traits that rely on adrenaline. Cleansing Ire, Berserker’s Power, and Heightened Focus. Heightened Focus is rarely used, Berserker’s Power is mainly only used in max dps builds, and Cleansing Ire is a staple for nearly every warrior build regarding PvP. There’s a reason for that… It’s stronger than most other condition removing traits.
Look at ranger’s Empathic Bond for example. Its on a longer cooldown (as long as there are any points in a warrior’s discipline tree, again, most have at least 15 for Fast Hands), is a passive condition removal, and its tied to the pet. Heck, it doesn’t even actually cleanse the conditions, it pulls them to the pet instead. So instead of actually removing them, the pet, a “major” part of our class, it gets hindered greatly (when movement impairing conditions are involved) and they can potentially die against condition classes due to being overwhelmed by damaging conditions (bleed and burn are the ones that pop into mind the first).
More importantly, when the pet dies, we lose the effect of Empathic Bond and pet swap goes on a 60 second cooldown…
I can list more, the most prominent being that Empathic Bond is a grandmaster trait while Cleansing Ire is only a master… Is it just me or is this a bit unfair…?
__________________________________________________________________
3.
Lol ok.
– Berserker’s Stance is 8 seconds of condi immunity (10 seconds if traited).
– Shouts with Runes of the Trooper (“Shake It Off!” and the trait Shrug It Off are the main ones).
– Traited warhorn.
– Signet of Stamina.
– Dogged March + Lemongrass Poultry Soup + Runes of Melandru makes a warrior near immune to movement impairing conditions (which, Dogged March, of all classes, I believe a ranger should have).
Hah, I didn’t even think I needed to say this. Cleansing Ire alone is already very powerful. While it may not work against full condition built classes, its more than enough. Coupled with any of these in the list, warriors can practically be immune to conditions.

They just have no idea how to balance. So many suggestions on the forums and all they can manage in almost 2 years is to add another healing skill and a WvW map.
Apparently it takes 6 months to fix tooltips but that’s enough for them and supposed to be good enough for us players.
Barely to no permanent content other than the grinding achievements for these living stories.
Hah.
They also delete any negative feedback they get which really doesn’t help at all other than to slowly build up more and more distaste in players.
Don’t get me wrong. I loved the game but there’s nothing new to keep me very interested other than to keep getting better at PvP.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
(edited by shadowpass.4236)
^ I kinda like that idea tho
make it so the next two attacks from stealth hit the target as if they have like 1500 armor
or hunter’s shot reduces targets armor for 3 seconds to 1800
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I said this in another thread.
why the hell are u running condi in a zerg? LOL
they all get cleansed rapidly and u end up doing very minimal damage, if even just 1 tick, from the condi itself…
ur wasting a space in ur guild if ur running that, if it were me, id rather have an actual thief who knows what he/she is doing in a zerg vs. zerg situation…
3-5k cluster bombs is more useful than 500 ticks of condi + the chill duration that does absolutely nothing in this case due to all the condi clears and -% condi durations everyone is using…
lol. seriously, how the hell did u go about making this…
u do realize that zergs have an insane amount of condi clears right? why in the world are u building for condition duration? even if ur going condi (which is still a bad idea), u might as well spec for condition damage instead
also, those 10 stacks of might u give ur zerg is irrelevant. most guilds can build 25 in a heartbeat without a bunch of venom share thieves running around thinking their helping when they’re really not.
its no better than running a permastealth build lol…
also, p/d is an easy weaponset and u were fighting noobs for the most part during the entire video
sorry not sorry. and it makes it even worse that u tried to defend urself and try to prove that ur skillful and know what ur doing when everyone in the thread so far has basically proven u wrong multiple times
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
lightning reflexes is the only survival skill in the build (at least for me)
also, while sotf is a more on-demand condi clear, empathic bond is still more reliable imo.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Alright mate, no problem.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Well, like we talked about, dagger is better for u because ur more melee oriented. The extra evade and cripple comes in handy.
I like to stick to ranged more often so I find that the axe is better in my case.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I use Sword-Axe myself.
Its a strong weapon combo in the right hands. I can consistently do 4-7k bursts with that weapon set (not counting sigils) between Path of Scars, Hornet Sting, and Monarch’s Leap.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
+1 brahhh =D
I wonder if I should type my playstyle up, u should too, strategies, things like that.
Might help the ranger community out a bit with power.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
if u do, lemme get in on that, I spend a ton of time in the armor locker thing haha
I like making myself look sexy.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Ranger needs:
– Dogged March (Adept Trait)
– Fast Hands
– Traits merged (Traps, Pet Traits, Longbow, etc. etc.)
– Higher damage coefficients
– More blast finishers
– More burst (Maul)
– “Backwards” leaps to create distance
– Change Piercing Arrows to Glass Arrows: Arrows can break up to 3 times on hit. One arrow breaks into two, those two can break into four, those four can break into eight. Each time they break, each individual arrow deals 15% less damage than the last arrow.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
LotR Elven looks great =D ima get that when I get back to the game.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
1. Traits need merging.
2. (Some) utilities need reworking.
3. Power is beast if you know how to play it. (I main power ranger)
4. Pets need reworking as well. They are near useless in large group fights and only have a real use in like 1vXs (1, 2, 3, etc. etc.)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
^ agreed, at least while I am solo roaming
fire/bloodlust is good for zerging
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Have a Legendary Egg drop from random mobs with the same chance for a precursor to drop.
You can raise this egg up over time and develop its stats and abilities. As the pet progresses through the ranks, its look changes and develops until finally it reaches its “Legendary” look/rank.
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
I’m a human haha
I like that look btw, might use it myself.
I was looking for more of an elegant, flowing look. Maybe like elves from LotR? Haha, this is fun, make me an LotR elven set with greens, golds, and browns, and a Canthan look that resembles Shiro Tagachi :]
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
Royal, I spend a lot of time in the skin locker making outfits too haha. I’m curious to see what someone else can come up with.
Make me a “Royal” look with blues, purples, golds, and/or reds lol. (Medium armor ofc, and don’t make the colors too bright, I like darker/cooler colors more, but nothing too dark either… haha)
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]
You can solo roam on anything. There’s no “OP” build for solo roaming on ranger other than the usual regen ranger. That, I can post if you need it… or, u can send me a mail on the forums explaining what you would like in a build and I’ll make one for you.
As for commanding, here’s one of the builds I used to run:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNAR3XjUq0ya/Kesw1agChq9LMsFLzCIAceDzQGH9xrI-TlSBABlquSQ7PolStrUWExTAwGdD3oSxCXAAAOIARqEUMAMB-w
This build, I played like once and never touched it again, it was also a waste of laurels getting the ascended clerics trinkets… but w/e:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNAR3XjEq0wa/KWsw1aANhqdAkpb67a4FiZXNQG/8wrI-TVSDABOcBAMUJYWKZGV5EOq0c8TAAU1kittenAky+juBxAYG-w
The second build I posted is a good build for tanking. You will honestly like, never, die. You regen an insane amount but hit like a wet noodle. Sooooo… might as well go for the gold and swap out the zealots stuff for cleric… haha, you hit like 300 damage on the 4% chance you do crit if you went that way, and its not that much of an increase with the zealots stuff… so w/e u want lol
Guild Leader of Favorable Winds [Wind]

But you didn’t think your second part through, but I can’t really blame you for lacking knowledge about the class and probably about the whole game, like most keyboard turning rangers.
I did. It would stop thieves from BSing and stealthing in a fairly quick succession. Increasing the revealed duration would give players a better chance to hit the thief after they come out of stealth. Its not a guaranteed hit ofc, but it would help. The short duration of revealed is one of the reasons why thieves can 1vX, on top of their access to numerous evades, it requires a bit of effort to maintain pressure on a good thief.
A daze or stun would be OP as well, so would immobilize. Just sayin’.
Oh, and I don’t keyboard turn.
